Xaviercal is at it again creating killer G1 customs and he has gone big this time! Paying homage to the classic Protectobots is his Custom Transformers Generations Combiner Wars G1 Defensor. Adding new feet and articulated hands, Defensor resembles the 1980's version with one small twist. You might notice a new member on the right leg. Rook is his name and Xaviercal used a SWAT vehicle and painted the figure accordingly, breaking up the classic red, white and blue color scheme. Even with adding a new figure into the mix, he still retains the look and feel of the figure by attaching the motorcycle to the SWAT vehicle in combiner mode, retaining the original design of Defensor while giving him a fresh new look.
I love when customizers take their own liberties with paint choices and colors as it makes the design uniquely their own. The individual figures look just as good in both robot and alternate modes. Xaviercal's work is top notch so don't miss out on his Defensor Custom Transformers Generations Combiner Wars G1 Figure.
Totally rethinking one of the toughest Decepticons from the 2007 Transformers Movie is Barbershop Customz with his Custom Masterpiece Transformers Barricade figure. Using a Masterpiece Prowl as the base for the figure, he reimagined the character using the movie paint scheme. The gold face really pops against the darkness of the figure. I like the angle that Barbershop took with the figure where he chose not to change the face to the style of the movie figure. I think this was a good call since all of the Masterpiece figures are based on the G1 Transformers line. I have been a fan of Barbershop for many years and if you are too, come check out the past articles I have written about this fantastic customizer!
Metroplex dwarfs other bots in comparison and living up to his role as the living embodiment of Autobot City is Xaviercal's Custom Transformers G1 Metroplex figure. Completely repainting in the classic G1 color scheme, Metroplex is painted and detailed in a very unique way. This figure looks like it has seen many a war and lived to tell about it with the massive amounts of scoring and grunge that is infused into him. Most of the customs I see are pristine versions of a repaint or a sculpted version of a figure that is a million times better than what you can get off the shelf but rarely to do you this level of battle damage. My favorite part of this customs is the cracked chest piece and the shattered look and feel overall. Xaviercal is one of the best in the business so check out his Custom Transformers G1 Metroplex figure before it is too late!
Pouring his heart, soul, and experience into his latest custom, Deviacon unleashes the wrath of the Dinobot leader with his Custom Transformers Age of Extinction Grimlock figure. This Leader Class figure is fully modded with some of the most unique ideas I have seen in a custom in a long time. For example, he created an extended tail, to round out proportions, which also has a hidden surprise that has 3 points of articulation and can split and transform into 3 accessories. He also was striving for screen accuracy so he added extra spines and spikes along the back, an extra row of teeth, extra plating along the top of the head, hand sculpted horns, engraved cybertronian letters along certain area's. Paying homage to the G1 version of Grimlock, the crown that sits atop Grimlock's head is modeled after the original spiky crown and he made it fit in with the movie style very well by giving it a corroded look. He even added Cybertronian hieroglyphics that read "Me King." The details are endless and the creativity that Deviacon has demonstrated truly makes this a remarkable custom.
The paint layering effects, which were achieved by using techniques such as dry-brushing, washes, and distressing helped to give this figure an overall corroded and rusted metal look. You can get a good look at the paint app in this close up image of Grimlock's head (see below). This is seriously one of the best Transformers AOE Grimlock's I have seen to date and Deviacon should be very proud of what he has made. I have to agree with him when he says "culmination of my work as a customizer so far." If you do too, go check out his Grimlock Custom Transformers Age of Extinction Figure on eBay and place your bid for this amazing figure!
Taking the latest creation from Mastermind Creations is Reformatted 01 - Terminus Hexatron (or in lay language Sixshot), Stronox gives this figure a major overall in the paint app department with his Custom Transformers Sixshot version. The original figure suffers from what most out of the box collectibles are plagued with and that is a poor paint app. What usually happens is that the details are lost in the figure when you have large blocks of color for each section of the Transformer. For example, Sixshot is mostly white, green, and purple and what Stronox is able to do when he applies his paint app is get into all of the nooks and crannies of the figure to bring out all of the sharp lines that you don't typically see in a figure you buy from the store. In addition to completely repainting the figure, he added a set of STAG swords that really go well with Sixshot. As an aside, I think the designer suffered from an identity crisis with this figure but it is cool to have all 6 modes contained into one figure. He was 1 mode shy of making a figure for each day of the week but I will give them a pass on that one. Lucky for you, this figure is for sale on eBay so head over there and check out Stronox's Custom Transformers Sixshot while there is still time.
LEK has a knack for making plastic shine like metal and his Custom Transformers Generations Megatron is no exception. There are some customs you can look at and instantly make a connection with and LEK's craftsmanship is stunning. Even though Megatron is mostly silver, the way that the paint is applied makes each individual part stand out. This Megatron has some serious detail and a paint app that is applied with precision. The silver and grays work really well against each other, making the paint look alive. To offset the tone of the figure, reds and oranges were used to accentuate Megatron, giving him depth and dimension. In alternate form, you get a great sense of how well this figure was painted. In addition to a killer paint app, LEK also added articulated fingers, which adds a human touch to the leader of the Decepticons. Adding an LED to the gun barrel brings this figure to the next level. Overall, this is one of the best Megatron's I have seen and I am sure Megatron appreciates a color scheme worthy of his leadership!
Paying homage to the Botcon theme of 2008, Wiliestbilame has created this metallic Cutom Transformers Masterpiece Shattered Glass Sideswipe figure. The paint app on this figure looks silky smooth and I like how the black outlining highlights the features of this Autobot turned bad. My favorite part of this custom is the scared Autobot symbol sliced across Sideswipe's chest. To hear more about custom, let's hear more from Wilestbilame himself:
"Sideswipe has always been one of the coolest Autobots around, featuring his super sleek Lamborghini Countach alt mode, Sideswipe is true to his name and his need for speed! this is especially true for his mirror universe version, Shattered Glass Sideswipe! based on the extremely popular mirror universe where Autobots are evil and Decepticons are heroic, one concept that really stood out to me was that of Sideswipe appearing in darker colors which are a significant departure from his signature red from G1, so basing myself on this concept and in order to maximize the full potential of this fantastic figure I gave him a serious overhaul in the paint department to truly bring out the full awesome of this great mold, Sideswipe was Prepped and Cleaned prior to being given his paintjob which consists of the highest quality automotive graden lacquers available, for his main color I used a custom blend to create a deep Dark Grey, a light grey for his feet, face, waist and other sections, as well as a special blended Teal for his chest, and other secondary areas, He features his new SG Autobot logo with the iconic Damage across it and his new Decepticon faction logo beneath it to symbolize his resolve to remain heroic even in this universe"
The Diaclone line from Takara was known for their alternate paint schemes and PumkinGonzo's Diaclone Optimus Prime Custom Transformers Figure mirrors this point in history. Using a brand new MP-10 Optimus Prime figure as the base, this figure is meticulously painted in finish resembling a subdued metallic look. No detail is spared on this figure, even down to the minute rivets that adorn the figure, which makes Optimus look even better! Let's hear more about this stellar looking custom from PumkinGonzo himself:
"This was an amazing experience to paint such a great figure but certainly a test. Took well over 40 hours to paint. Despite prep work, I'm listing this as a professionally painted robot display piece. It will transform but I've totally concentrated on the robot mode. Lots of thin coats of primer, using a very soft, smooth style. A build up then mixture of colours. He has got a slight metallic look to him. Metallic blue, metallic black on the lower legs. It's not a real shiny obvious metallic look however. There's loads of detail, all the rivets painted. The gun also has detail and matches the slight metallic vibe and the axe has a subtle two tone colour. Airbrushed and hand painted finished with a gloss varnish."
If you want a killer custom from one of the best, look no further than PumkinGonzo and his Diaclone Optimus Prime Custom Transformers Figure.
LEK is famous for his realistic paint apps and he prides himself with delivering the best looking customs he can possibly create and his Custom Transformers Ultra Magnus Mastperiece MP-22 figure delivers! Painted in classic G1 red, white, and blue, Ultra Magnus' has a metallic and distressed look. Sinking effort into every nook and cranny he can, LEK's version of the trailer is the most detailed I have ever seen.
The trailer overall is absolutely impressive. If you look closely, you see gold accents integrated into the trailer detail, bringing a realistic look and feel to the figure that the off the shelf versions are missing. I have been following LEK's customs for quite some time now and they just keep getting better and better as the years go by! This Ultra Magnus Masterpiece MP-22 Custom Transformers Figure will not disappoint and should make a glorious addition to anyone's Custom Transformers collection. Don't miss out on this one!
Jetfire has always been my long time favorite in the Transformers Universe and D.M. has taken a Revenge of the Fallen figure and has given a G1 makeover. You will notice the classic color scheme that is very fitting for Jetfire. The aspect I really love about this figure is the distressed paint app. This is one of the most unique Jetfire figures I have seen in a long time and the Generation 1 colors brings out all of the unique detail that the off the shelf figure kept hidden.
Taking advantage of the latest in 3D printing technology is DarCave's Custom Transformers Decepticon Justice Division Tarn figure, a one of a kind evil bot that is built to "Find. Kill. Cleanse." According to DarkCave, his head, dual fusion cannon, chest plate and shoulder/tank treads were CAD drafted and 3D printed. I am so excited that customizers are starting to use 3D printers as it opens up the possibilities to create customs at scale. For those who are skilled in CAD, it offers those who are more talented figuring out software. Using interchanging parts with Generations Springer and Sandstorm figures, Tarn is a seamless construction of Transformers and additional parts created by DarkCave. My favorite part of this custom is the chest plate as it reminds me of the combiners, especially Devastator. It is cool to find combiner parts on smaller figures as it gives them a very unique look. Since Tarn does not exist in the Transformers Universe, DarkCave has written a back story on him:
"Tarn is the leader of the Decepticon Justice Division, a group of Decepticons tasked by Megatron to hunt down traitors to the Decepticon cause. Even though he's fearful and intimidating, your intrigued by his personality and, in some ways, his nobility. As well as his addiction to transforming and classical music. No to mention this evil bastard can actually TALK his victim to death."
Growing up in the 80’s, I had most of the Transformers toys and there was always something that bothered me about the G1 Megatron! After seeing Xaviercal’s Custom Transformers IDW Megatron figure, I think I have figured it out! The 80’s Megatron is not bulky or massive enough. Xaviercal has fixed this issue with one of the best Megatron’s I have seen of late. He gave Megatron such much needed additions to bulk up his legs and shoulders. Giving him a new fusion cannon and and a tank barrel to resembler his Walther P38 appearance in robot mode cements the look! Interesting to see that he chose to go with a dark gray color scheme but it works surprisingly well! There are also very subtle aspects of the figure that you might notice. For example, instead of using a purple Decepticon symbol, he chose to go with a metallic gray symbol that almost fades into the background.
From the bizarre world of good becomes evil and evil becomes good comes swampmonkeyxr’s Custom Shattered Glass Metroplex city with Optimus Prime and Scamper. In the Shattered Glass motif of teals, blacks, and purples, Metroplex looks like he is ready to defend! The way that this custom was painted makes the individual parts stand out and I like the way the customizer used red and gold accents.
If you take a close look at the fingertips, you will see what I mean. The red tips as well as the gold finger accents add the finishing touches to this figure that is needed. It is really cool that this figure customs with Scamper and Optimus Prime and I love the way smaller figures look as it gives scale to the massive city that is Metroplex. Optimus even comes with shattered cab windows, completing the look of the figure and giving it a special meaning.
Fully transformable, this Custom Shattered Glass Metroplex figure looks even more impressive in alternate form. All in all, this figure is a great addition to any custom collection and makes an even better addition to a Shattered Glass collection!
There is so much detail in JCArtwork's Custom Transformers Age of Extinction Optimus Prime figure it will make your head spin. This figure literally looks like it was ripped from the Age of Extinction movie...it is that good! Using a DMK-03 Dual Model Kit Optimus Prime as the base of the figure, JCartwork has transformed this great looking Prime into a thing of beauty. The technique that was used to paint the figure makes it look like the figure is made out of metal and you can see that in every nook, there are the tiniest details that make this figure one of the best Optimus Prime's from the AOE line I have see to date. Lucky for you, this figure is available for immediate purchase so if you are in love with it like I am, head over to eBay and buy JCartwork's Custom Transformers Age of Extinction Optimus Prime figure.
Just like the 1986 Transformers movie, Vampiregirl04 has reconstructed a Combiner Wars Megatron into this Custom Galvatron figure you see before you. Using the classic Generation 1 color scheme of purple, grays, and oranges, the modifications that were done to this figure fit into the current line while retaining that old school look that started the Transformers craze. The aspects that stands out on this custom are the modifications that were done to the chest and head, which include resculpted facial features, the addition of head crests, a Revoltech joint for the neck, resculpted and modified chest/torso, and a sculpted and modified cannon. I love the emotion that is conveyed in Galvatron's face and the way that the left eye and expression was created gives it a more lifelike look. To view more photos and to place a bid, head over to eBay and check out Vampiregirl04's Custom Combiner Wars Galvatron figure!
Billmeister gave the leader of the Autobots a finish that he deserves with his Custom Transformers MP-10 Metallic Optimus Prime figure. Not happy with the stock coloring of the off the shelf version (who is really???), he gave Optimus a metallic look that more closely resembled the G1 version from the cartoon.
Just to give you an idea how amazing this paint work is, here is a close up (see above) of the cab area. He was able to create glow effects, which makes it look like the windows on his chest are actually lighting and dimming. You will also notice that the rivets on Optimus are painstakingly painted to perfection. He also gave the glow effects to his Axe but you will have to check that out on eBay!
DarkCave Customs gives us a glimpse of an alternate Autobot Universe where this soldier is a jet with his Custom Transformers Ultra Magnus jet figure. There are several aspects of this custom that caught my eye. First, the paint app and styling DarkCave used gives the figure much depth and dimension. The classic G1 Ultra Magnus blues and whites compliment the figure nicely. The grays that were used to out line the figure really make all of the parts stand out from each and it gives it a fresh from war look with all of the carbon scoring. Second, DarkCave made use of a 3D printer to make a new head for the figure, completing the look. To check out more photos, head over to eBay and take a gander at this Custom Transformers Ultra Magnus jet figure.
The fans choice Masterpiece figure was voted Star Saber and paying homage to the original G1 Japanese Brainmaster is Xaviercal's Masterpiece Black Star Saber Custom Transformers MP-24 figure. This figure looks so much better as a Decepticon and Xaviercal nailed the G1 style and coloring. The finish on the figure looks smooth and the colors are all in the right place. To tell us more about how this custom was made and what inspired him to make is Xaviercal himself:
"Star Saber keeps most of the features the original G1 toy had, the main difference being in how the Brainmaster gimmick works: Saber's face is in the main body rather than in the Brain of Courage figure. Also he comes with an extra accessory that was not in the original figure, the shield Star Saber used in "Showdown! The Fortress vs the Victory Unification", which doubles as a "flight stand" for the figure when in its alternate mode. He also comes with two swords, one scaled for Saber and one scaled for Star Saber. I completely took this guy apart and repainted him into e-Hobby exclusive colors of evil redecos. I wanted to do the same but with the MP Version."
This figure is hot and is already going for over $250 on eBay so better place your bid while you still can!
The Stunticon's were a world class set of riff raff Decepticons always out to cause trouble. When they terrorized the Autobots, boy did they cause mayhem. Capturing the menacing side of these 4-wheeling bad asses is LEK's Custom Transformers Menasor Combiner figure. Standing a towering 14" tall, LEK has captured the Generation 1 look and feel that we grew up with while giving the figures a mode edgier feel with the paint color choices. The individual figures, although plastic, have a metallic look to them, which makes the figure even more appealing. Paying homage to the original head sculpt by adding horns that flare out to the sides, LEK's version is a modern combiner with that old school feel. The face is well executed and the expression on Menasor's face is priceless.
I live for one of a kind customs and figures that are inspired by imagination and creativity, which brings to today's featured Custom Transformers Masterpiece Reaper Seeker Jet figure by PumpkinGonzo! This figure has a classic look and styling to it. The use of purple and blacks reminds me of the G1 Transformers line. I really like that the wings are painted a metallic color as they pop on the figure and make them stand out. Focusing in the smaller details, notice the purple engine fans on the chest, a great color choice to compliment the rest of the figure, which also shows up on the sides of the head, tying it all together.
The story behind this custom is great! From what inspired the creation of this custom to the help he got from family and friends. Here is more about how this custom came about:
"I had an idea of a demon looking seeker, and got heavily involved in this one and it was great fun to do! Brand new Sunstorm bought. Totally concentrated on robot mode. It will transform done carefully, but with the weapon and cloak it's all about a high quality professionally painted robot display piece. Airbrushed and hand painted. Numerous coats of primer. Very carefully, slowly painted with a build of a shades. Mainly a rich black, with slight metallic mixed black and steel wings with purple and red detail. The head is a dark steel/black mix to match the wings.
The cloak is a black fabric that attaches around the neck. The base is a mixture of black, steel, metallic black, purple and red all blended. High quality Decepticon symbols and finished with gloss varnish.
This is the first seeker in a set of three I have planned in this style. Next one will be late April, along with a black and purple Decepticon MP Grimlock. Special thanks to my wife for making the cloak. To Stormvaper, Stevil33 and TigerBlade (TFW2005) for their help with names and general chat."
According to the Transformers Wiki, Bludgeon is a ferocious warrior, skilled in the ancient Cybertronian martial art of Metallikato. He and his blade can cut through the battlefield as if everyone else is operating at a minimal speed setting. Xaviercal has captured his G1 samuria look with an updated Transformers movie feel with his Custom Transformers Leader Class Bludgeon Figure. The colors that were used really highlight the and accentuate the figure, defining the individual sections. For example, the chest plate really pops and the mix of metalic colors in in all the right places give the figure its robotic look and feel. Here is more about how the custom was created:
"Bludgeon is a complete build from using spare limbs from a DMK Optimus. The rest was built from using ROTF Bludgeon and leader class optimus. I wanted to do with a bare robot skeleton look for Bludgeon, to have that creepy but yet awesome look to him. He is aimed with a sword and small dagger both of which can store on his back. He also aimed with his Tank turret on his arm which resembles his original pretender"
Combiners always have a special place in my heart and Deceptipunk's Custom Transformers Optimal Maximum Prime Combiner is no exception. Standing almost 2 feet tall, this figure comes jam packed with articulation and more armor, which adds some weight to the figure. There are 6 Transformers that make up this combiner and Deceptipunk's color scheme is very complimentary in combiner form. Here is Deceptipunk's to tell you about this amazing combiner:
"This is my second take on Transformers combiners wars Cybertron Elite Defense Force combiner OPTIMAL MAXIMUM PRIME This custom was done To add a new style and combiner to the new combiner wars line. This is my second of version of this custom. But this time I added an extra robot so the combiner consist of 6 figures plus the frame and extra parts that come together to for this heavy behemoth. The figure stands 22 inches tall and it's very heavy. All figures are fully transformable exactly the same way as the original versions. With all the same transformation and articulation as the original. In this version I also added new parts and change the design a bit. I added extra parts that adds more bulk. Now the feet armor is bigger due to the weight of the figure , that way the feet can provide the figure with better stability and an overall more over bulked proportioned look. I also included are new ball jointed and hinged articulated hands. This custom has a lot of articulation like shoulder rotation , stronger ratchets, limbs have elbow swivel and twist , waist swivel is still there, hip and knew articulation as well as the leg swivel are also present and finally some ankle movement to create a better stance as seen in the pictures. This figure was prepped, cleaned detailed with silver and red accents and then applied lots of fine diluted dark washes to create contrast and to show weathering /battle torn look using enamels and acrylics."
Check out more photos of this Custom Transformers Optimal Maximum Prime Combiner and be sure to place a bid so you can own this amazing figure!
This is just a quick post to show you why I started this blog! I know kids are attracted to bright colors but the stock paint scheme is mighty ridiculous. Take LEK's Custom Transformers Age of Extinction Slash, for example. Blending the classic G1 styling with the new cutting edge lines and angles of the new Transformers movies takes this figure to a totally different level.
I love it when customizers take pride in their work and love what they do, which is why Chonosmoon's Custom Transformers Henkei Classic Icestorm figure is a cut above the rest. The frost white and blues gives me the chills just writing this as the colors are well executed and play off of each other nicely. As Chonosmoon describes on his website, "This custom I worked on in between working on Sunstorm and Impactor. Icestorm is based off fellow customizer & friend FrenzyRumble’s Masterpiece Icestorm. Using the inspiration I create this Icestorm to match my previous Sunstorm’s detailing and style."
In addition to learning how these amazing customs come to life, I am also interested in learning about the customizers. For example, as I was on his site, I learned that he is a war veteran and with Memorial Day approaching, I just wanted to personally thank Chonosmoon for his service to this great country. Here is more about the artist in his own words:
"I am an US Army combat veteran who finds his escape by creating some of art you see here. Chonosmoon is my chosen handle for web design and customizing Transformers figures. I started customizing in 2010 and have always enjoyed Transformers since I was little kid in the 80s. I hope that my creations can share that same joy, if not better than what I had growing up on them."

With the next installment of the Transformers movie coming out in June, Billmeister Customs is getting a head start designing his version of the classic Dinobot with his Custom Transformers Age of Extinction Grimlock figure. Mixing the old with the new, this custom blends the classic G1 colors of red and yellow with the harsh metallic look of the new generation Transformers style. The entire figure has been stripped down and repainted, enhancing the contrast in the various parts of Grimlock's body. I love the yellow accents when the figure is in T-Rex mode as well as the subtle colors in robot mode. I am looking forward to seeing more Transformers Age of Extinction figure in the coming months and if Billmeister's Custom Grimlock in any indication of the quality of these figures, I can't wait!
Heavily armed and modified, Xaviercal has brings us his Custom Transformers Titan Class Metroplex that is like nothing I have seen before. Fitted with LED's and a G1 color scheme, this figure boasts new articulation, armor, and weapons. Typically, the Metroplex figures I see are done in white but Xaviercal has painted this one in predominantly gray motif with a ton of accent colors, highlighting the intricate detail Metroplex has. The scoring and battle damage with the paint effects are very well executed and you can get a good example of this by looking at the right chest plate with the Autobot symbol. The figure looks equally impressive in city mode and he even added a scale model of Bruticus to make the figure look larger than life.
Collaborations between customizers can only mean great things for fans. Take Frenzy.Rumble's and ThyVipera's recent team up to create this amazing Custom Masterpiece Transformers Galvatron figure. Using the unique skills of ThyVipera in the building of this killer figure coupled with Frenzy.Rumble's talent at paint application, there is no wonder why this figure is second to none. This version has an uncanny cartoon look and feel to it that you can see in the face. The purples and silvers are just the right color to bring out all of the detail. I especially like the way the orange was applied on the canon as it looks like it is ready to fire. To view more photos of this Custom Masterpiece Transformers Galvatron figure, head over to eBay.
Paying homage to Botcon 2008, Wilestbilame has created this Custom Masterpiece Shattered Glass Sideswipe Transformers figure in a similar motif as the original. Using grays and teals (instead of blacks and greens), the paint app really brings out the detail. On the chest, the figure features the Shattered Glass Autobot logo with damage, which adds a very cool effect. This figure stands between 5 and 6 inches tall and fits in well with the Masterpiece line so check out Wilestbilame's Custom Masterpiece Shattered Glass Sideswipe Transformers figure today before it is gone forever.
The Platinum Edition Transformers are doing a real justice to the classic line from the 80's and Billmeister has taken one of the figures and given it a killer paint job with his Custom Transformers Grimlock that is styled after the coloring found on the box art as well as the CGI representation found in the Transfomers game. This repaint boasts bold coloring such as steel silver, silver aluminum, and, and chrome chest and neck pieces. The desired effect he was going for was a glow and he achieved that and then some!
Adding to the Masterpiece line, Colosal Customs creates a 9 inch version of one of the main Decepticons from the original Transformers Movie from 1986. This Custom Transformers Masterpiece Scourge figure captures both the classic feel of the character with an updated look. The lines on the figure are sharp and the iconic mustache and goatee are nicely done. There is a ton of articulation in the figure, even in the wings so you can pose the figure in many different ways. Comparing the figure to the original version, you will see many differences but the overall sleeker look is appealing to me and fits in with the rest of the more updated Transformers line.
According to the Transformers Wiki, the Ark, the Ark is the name given to the Autobot spaceship that, in many universes, originally carried the Autobot and Decepticon armies to Earth. The Ark is a Vanguard-class Deep Space Interceptor. It has five decks and houses a full crew complement of 300 Transformers (although it can be flown by only a handful if necessary). Its environment is fully automated and self-sufficient. For engines, it features 4 Hyperfuel Intake Accelerators. Wiliestbilame recreates this classic scene where the Arrk rests in this mountain as the Autobots headquarters with his Custom Transformers Ark diorama. This dio is scaled for 3" to 5" figures and goes nicely with the Titan Metroplex figure that towers 2 feet tall. The rocks looks so real I almost thought he had used some boulders he found in nature. This dio is well done and sure to add some spice to your Transformers collection.
Frenzy Rumble really knows how to create towering works of art and his latest Custom Transformers Piranacon is no exception. This figure, which happened to be a commission but the buyer could not follow through with his end of the deal, stands a towering 16" tall and has two bright yellow LED's for eyes. That really makes these large figures one of a kind are the attention to detail and creativity that customizers pour into every figure. For example, the lines and edginess of this custom give it rather harsh and stealth like appearance. Paying homage to the original G1 color scheme, Frenzy Rumble did an amazing job incorporating all of the pastel colors from the 80's figure we grew up with. To check out more photos, head over to eBay and view his Custom Transformers Piranacon and look at all of the killer photos!
Being a huge fan of muscle cars myself, this Custom Transformers Alternators Shockwave designed to look like a 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda caught my eye for several reasons. First, the concept itself is outstanding. Typically you see the Alternator line featuring more up to date cars but this Shockwave is a twist to that line and a welcome addition! The choice of muscle car could not have been more perfect. The Plymouth 'Cuda is a heavy duty car with lots of bulk and mass, kind of like how the 1980's Shockwave was created to look like a massive bulky gun.
Second, the colors and the attention to detail on this custom are second to none. The paint has a showroom shine and the purple and black play nicely off each other. Lastly, the way this car was converted will make your head spin. If you can believe it, this figure started off as a Mazda RX-8 from the 2004 Alternators line. To read how this car was converted, head over to eBay and check it out!
I love when universe collide and Gill Customs has created an amazing Custom Cyclonus GI Joe Transformers Crossover made from a Conquest X-30. Painted in the classic purple and silver colors, the base vehicle makes a great start for a G1 seeker jet. In addition to the killer paint app, Cyclonus has lights in the cockpit, rear thrusters, and engines. The cockpit canopy even sports the orange color that was found on the original G1 Cyclonus figure. There have been many unique GI Joe Transformers crossover customs made over the years and I wish customizers would make more because I love both toy lines and it is great when they are blended together. If you want to see more photos of Gill Customs' crossover Custom GI Joe Transformers Cyclonus figure, head over to eBay!
With Colosal Custom's Titan Metroplex Custom Trasformers figure, it is all in the fine details. Since the 30th Anniversary Metroplex figure came out, I have been waiting for customizers to get their hands on this behemoth and some have answered the call. In addition to the simulated weathering and glow effects, there are numerous smaller details that really make this figure stand out. For example, the addition of lacquer to the labels to seal them down as well as LED eyes make this figure come alive. A lot of the nooks and crannies in the figure are detailed, which give the figure a look like no other. To view more detailed photos of this amazing figure, head over to eBay and check out Colosal Custom's Titan Metroplex Custom Trasformers figure.
Xaviercal has outdone himself this week. Not only has he created a fully transformable massive figure but he also added a sibling to the Transformers Universe with his Custom Transformers Grand Maximus G1 city. Standing taller than the Generations Metroplex at 24" (that is two feet for those who are metrically disadvantaged), Grand Maximus contains a killer paint app as well as loads of articulation. The paint app is stellar and the way it was crafted brings out the weathering detail you would expect from a humongous Autobot city. Here is more from Xaviercal himself:
Grand Maximus has being made by using a brand new Fortress Maximus, This Grand Maximus custom has being customized to include articulation for his knees, neck, shoulders , arms and new articulated hands and fingers. He stands very stable with his own two feet. Standing taller then generations Metroplex at actual 24" height, He stand taller then the new generation Metroplex (please note that Genernation Metroplex photo are only for reference only not included in this auction). What goes around comes back around on eBay and ThyVipera's Custom Masterpiece G1 Scorponok figure is making an appearance once again. The fan who bought this custom back in April 2011 is putting him up for sale and now is your chance to grab this bad boy! I originally featured this amazing custom so you can read the original article to get the details or head over to eBay and place a bid!
Featuring a custom head sculpt by Arte Loco customs, ThyVipera has epitomized one of the most recognizable villains in recent history with his Custom G1 Transformers Masterpiece Megatron figure. Standing 12" tall, this is how the leader of the Decepticons should have been made. Created from a Masterpiece Megatron MP-5 figure, ThyVipera has added tons of articulation as well as rebuilt parts to make this the best G1 Megatron I have seen in years. Although this figure does not transform, Megatron really looks better in robot mode anyway so there is not loss without the ability to change into the Walther P38 from yesteryear. The head sculpt immediately grabbed my attention as the face almost has a human quality to it. This is really an outstanding figure and kudos to to great customizers, Arte Loco and ThyVipera, working together to pull of this amazing figure.
I am always a sucker for a meticulously detailed custom and Xaviercal continues to deliver high quality customs that simply make me drool. Take his Custom Masterpiece Transformers Optimus Prime figure, for example. Xaviercal mentioned that he gave Optimus a realistic appearance and he was not kidding! The plastic is painted to look like real metal and fine details on this figure can't be overlooked. He gave the leader of the Autobots a very gritty, automotive feel to him from head to toe. No nook and cranny was overlooked. Even went as far as applying some rub details to the tips of the feet as well as making his windshield look all grimy as if the windows had not been cleaned in a while. If you are looking for someone to lead your Autobots to battle, I would highly consider Xaviercal's Custom Masterpiece Transformers Optimus Prime figure as this ranks very high on my list of Optimus Prime figures. Don't let this one get away!
The combiners are always a site for sore eyes and I am happy that a talented customizer has tackled one of the coolest figures ever made. ForgottenForest has created this massive Custom G1 Transformers Predaking figure. Sometimes it is hit or miss whether customizers include how they created the figure but lucky for us, ForgottenForest wrote a ton so let's take a look:
"Standing at a massive 16.5 inches (42cms) tall to the top of his head and about 21 inches to the top of his gun barrels with a wing span of over 20 inches(51cms),Predaking will tower over any autobot and be the pride of your collection. One of my all time favourite transformers this custom took months to create and i have Designed him to be in scale and fit perfectly with the classics/generations/henkei figures. Built with an eye for detail ,Predaking is largely scratch built so you will not be able to find him elsewhere. His custom scratch built parts include his hands which are ball jointed at the wrist and on every finger as well as having an extra joint on every finger allowing for an incredible range of motion. Predaking also has scratchbuilt hip and thigh armour (which is moveable) as well as his wings which were designed to be very generation one acurate as well as having individually posable feathers which fan out to really catch the eye (the wings are also posable to allow for greater movement). Predaking also comes with a custom scratch built head that is unique and modelled after his generation one appearance. As an added free bonus Predaking comes with G1 acurate re creations of his arm mounted cannon weapon as well as his massive sword which is 11 inches long all by itself."
This figure brings back memories to the G1 greats of the past. The colors are spot on with the classic orange, yellow, and black color scheme that we all know and love. To check out more photos, head over to eBay check out this killer Custom G1 Transformers Predaking figure.
Xaviercal, using the Generations Metroplex, created this Custom Generation 1 Metrotitan Decepticon figure. This figure is right up my ally! I am not sure if you know but I took up Astrophotography as a hobby and this figure reminded me of that. Constructed on Saturn's moon Titan, Metrotitan is a massive Decepticon warrior, commanded by the villainous Violen Jygar to destroy the Autobots. The paint app really pops on this figure, bringing out all of the detail. The metallic look to the figure gives it a very polished look. The small details really make this figure come together. For example, the choice to place gray on the knuckles or adding red accents on the knees give this figure depth and dimension and make it very interesting. To view more photos or to place a bid on this great figure, head over to eBay to check out Xaviercal's Custom Generation 1 Metrotitan Decepticon figure.
Custom Masterpiece Soundwave, Buzzsaw, Frenzy, Rumble, Laserbeak and Ravage Transformers Figures by Frenzy.Rumble
Up for only 3 days is Frenzy.Rumble's Custom Masterpiece Soundwave, Buzzsaw, Frenzy, Rumble, Laserbeak and Ravage Transformers figures (boy that was mouthful). Adding and LED to Soundwave's visor gives the Decepticon communicator a very unique look and adds to the persona that only the 1980's cartoon could match. Painted in the G1 color scheme, the deep blue body is a great match to the original figure, which plays nicely off of the silver, yellow, and red colors. Soundwave would not be complete without his spies so he included Buzzsaw, Frenzy, Rumble, Laserbeak and Ravage, which are fully customized as well. There is no better custom Transformer figure than Frenzy.Rumble so head over to eBay and check out his Custom Masterpiece Soundwave, Buzzsaw, Frenzy, Rumble, Laserbeak and Ravage Transformers Ffigures before they are gone!
The stock paint jobs that come with the figures off the shelf have always been a disappointment and it is customers like Billmeister who save these figures corporate doom! Take his Custom Transformers Beast Hunters Ultra Magnus figure, for example. He turned a lack luster paint app into a stunning display of deep blue and red metallics that literally make this figure shine. When figures are painted like this, the facial features, as well as the fine details really come through much better. The siler metallic parts really look like steel and I love the way the weapon was painted to add an effect of some kind of energy rushing through it as Ultra Magnus wields his mighty hammer! The figure looks equally impressive in alternate mode where most of the body of the truck comes through as a deep blue with a crimson red top for the cab. Fantastic work!
One of the pivotal scenes in the original Transformers movie from the 1980's is when Megatron is reformed into Galvatron and Boskoes Toys has captured this moment with this Custom Transformers Reformed Megatron figure. Megatron really took a beating in the movie and the battle damage and the transformation is captured very nicely in this homage to the leader of the Decepticons. The gashes and the carbon scoring on the figure give it a multidimensional effect and combined with the translucent purple on various parts of the figure make it look like he is caught in the middle of the transformation.
Sacrificing transform-ability for a killer look and style is Kishimoto's Custom Fall of Cybertron Metroplex figure. This Metroplex is thick and as Sir Mix A Lot says, "I want 'em real thick and juicy.!" All jokes and quotes aside, I love the styling of this figure. The way the legs were designed harkens back to the G1 Autobot city from the 80's with a modern look and feel. The figure stands a towering 18" tall and is an astounding 12" wide. Now that is big and it definitely fits with the persona of Metroplex. As Kishimoto says, "The figure is made from a shell from an existing figure with the use of both corrugated cardboard and carton cardboard. Only a few parts were made from scultpy and plastic. It is very stout and pretty solid in most areas but none the less has to be treated as a collectible piece and not a toy." This figure embodies all of the aspects that made Metroplex great so check out more photos of Kishimoto's Custom Fall of Cybertron Metroplex figure over on eBay!
Some things come full circle in the cycle of customs. Some sales are brokered through eBay and some don't even see the light of day on eBay as some customs are commissioned directly from fan to customizer, which brings me to Encline Design's Custom Masterpiece Shockwave figure. I am not sure if this was a direct comission or not but, lucky for you, the owner of this fine custom is listing it and it is up for grabs! Painted to look like the IDW comic version, Encline displays his talent and passion in this figure. Check out the comparison in size with the Masterpiece Starscream figure and you will see just how large this one this.
Frenzy.Rumble's customs, as well as the other creations from the talent out there, was one of the reasons I started this website and week after week I have not been let down. I must say, I have never seen anything like this before, especially in this scale. Frenzy.Rumble has taken the Worlds Smallest Transformers line and made them larger than life with his Extinction Custom WST Combiner. The concept is original to the customizer and I thought I was looking at his larger scale version, which he has made before. Upon closer inspection, this combiner stands 7" tall and is a highly detailed scaled down version using the Worlds Smallest Transformers line of figures. I can't believe how much detail he packed into these small figures but the execution is flawless. If you did not know the scale, looking at the photos, you would think this figure stands 2 feet tall. Going above and beyond, he has added more articulation to these tiny figures, which I can't believe he has done because I have owned some of these WST figures and you don't have a lot of room for error. My favorite aspect of Frenzy.Rumble's Custom WST Extinction Combiner is the T-Rex popping out of the center of the chest. It is a bit Alien'esque but it gives a cool dimension to the figure.
Wilestbilame takes the MP-13 Decepticon communicator and turns him from the dark side to create this unique Custom Masterpiece Shattered Glass Soundwave figure. Making a dramatic statement with an ehobby'esque color scheme, this figure looks amazing in MP form and is a nice change to see Soundwave and his partner in crime, Laserbeak, in this way. To hear more about this figure from Wilestbilame himself, take a read below:
"Shattered Glass is the name given to the parallel universe to the Transformers Generation 1 continuity where the heroic Decepticons battle the evil autobots to save cybertron, one such heroic decepticon whose white and blue deco really stands out is none other than everyone's favorite cassete player! Soundwave along with his most trusted partner laserbeak presents a new dynamic take on the legendary decepticon intelligence agent, being a martial arts expert in this universe, soundwave retains his signature loyalty to Megatron to ensure the safety of cybertron and his decepticon comrades from the evil forces of the autobots at all costs!! so taking this fantastic concept in mind, I took the widely popular masterpiece Soundwave MP-13 figure and his cassete laserbeak to recreate their shattered glass counterparts."
I love the way the cassette door was painted, which gives a G1 cartoon feel to this killer figure. To view more photos, head over to eBay and check out this Custom Masterpiece Shattered Glass Soundwave figure.
Sculpt-bot's Custom Masterpiece Transformers Perceptor is the focus of this weeks featured post! Let's get more detail on this amazing custom in this virtual sit down with the creator of this great piece:
AFC: What is the custom you have up for sale on eBay this week?
Sculpt-bot: It is a Masterpiece Scale Perceptor Figure.
AFC: What inspired you to create this custom?
Sculpt-bot: With the design similarities between G1 Soundwave, and G1 Perceptor, I thought it was a natural transition to convert MP Soundwave into MP Perceptor.
AFC: How was this figure made?
Sculpt-bot: I scavenged a lot of parts from the original G1 Perceptor figure. Mainly the "microscope" portion, but I also used a razor saw to cut off many thin panels to add to the base figure. I extended the microscope barrel slightly to add a little size (still magnifies!) This wasn't really an issue in bot mode, but it looked a little too small in his alt mode. I also heavily modified the original G1 chest piece to upsize it to fit the MP mold. The clear portion of his chest was a challenge, as no matter what I did, I couldn't build a perfectly clear "lens" for his chest. I finally settled on a fogged crystal look, that still provided some translucency, but didn't need to be perfect. I shortened his legs slightly at the knees so that he was slightly shorter than Soundwave and Prime in bot mode. I wanted his head to be a combination of the G1 figure and cartoon design, so I built a new one up using the Soundwave head as a base. This gave his head the same articulation as the base figure. I built his G1 toy weapons out of scrap parts and some styrene. He was then painted up using custom mixed acrylics and enamels to match his trademark colors.
AFC: How many hours did it take you to create this figure?
Sculpt-bot: I probably put about 20-25 hours into him.
