Some things come full circle in the cycle of customs. Some sales are brokered through eBay and some don't even see the light of day on eBay as some customs are commissioned directly from fan to customizer, which brings me to Encline Design's Custom Masterpiece Shockwave figure. I am not sure if this was a direct comission or not but, lucky for you, the owner of this fine custom is listing it and it is up for grabs! Painted to look like the IDW comic version, Encline displays his talent and passion in this figure. Check out the comparison in size with the Masterpiece Starscream figure and you will see just how large this one this.
AFC: What is the custom you have up for sale on eBay this week?
Customs by Z: Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Shockwave
AFC: What inspired you to create this custom?
Customs by Z: The eye! It seriously needed some life added to it, so I hooked it up with a dual LED look! Both red and yellow operated by the same switch.
AFC: How was this figure made?
Customs by Z: This was just a standard repaint. I used a custom mix of Kustom Kolor lacquer paint and some enamel paints for detail. I also added a custom LED/electronics setup that gives Shockwave both a Red and Yellow eyes and a high intensity red LED in his canon.
AFC: How many hours did it take you to create this figure?
Customs by Z: Actual working time probably around 10 or so.... but with paint curing times and my overall procrastination a week from start to finish.
AFC: Is there any other interesting information about the process of making this custom that you would like to share with your fans?
Customs by Z: Nothing out of the ordinary... but with electronics, it is best to map your path PRIOR to installation!
Combining forces to create this Custom Leader Class Transformers Shockwave DOTM figure, jacerc130 and Encline Designs display their unique talents. Kitbashing and sculpting various parts of the this figure, jacerc130 has transformed one of the iconic figures in the Transformers universe into a towering giant. One of my favorite parts of this custom is the large gun, which seems to have tentacles growing into it. This gives the gun a living breathing persona to it, which makes you wonder if it has a mind of its own. Topping the figure off with Shockwave's patented single eye and purple look, this figure possesses both the updated look from the movies as well as the classic feel of the 80's classic. Sealing this look is Encline Designs god given talent in paint application and design. To check out more photos of this Custom Leader Class Transformers Shockwave DOTM figure, head over to eBay!
The Chernobyl disaster was a catastrophic nuclear accident that occurred on April 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine where an explosion and fire released large quantities of radioactive contamination into the atmosphere, which spread over much of Western USSR and Europe. It is widely considered to have been the worst nuclear power plant accident in history, and is one of only two classified as a level 7 event on the International Nuclear Event Scale (the other being the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster). Scottheking has incorporated this event as a diorama with his Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Shockwave figure like the movie did! With an awesome paint job and a custom cast head, this figure looks like it is right out of the movie, especially when it is posed in the diorama. The diorama was cast from scratch, giving it a realistic effect as Shockwave blasted through it. To see more photos of this killer Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Shockwave figure and diorama, head over to eBay!
In the Transformers Dark of the Moon movie, the presence of Shockwave was not only seen but was also felt through the rumblings of earth and the twisted metal that made this character one of the coolest Decepticons on the silver screen. Hasbro only gave Shockwave a Voyager Class figure mold but ForgottonForest has given this beast the leader class treatment he deserves with his Custom Transformers DOTM Leader Class Shockwave figure. Let's read how ForgettenForest made this great figure:
"This custom made Leader Class dark of the moon Shockwave stands at an impressive 11.5 inches tall and is designed to fit perfectly with all other leader class figures. He has been scratch built to be as acurate to the Josh Nizzi concept art and official movie CGI renders as possible. i took great care to build this custom with a sense of power and strength to acurately mirror his appearance in the film in addition to ensuring his menacing and evil aspects were also represented. I wanted Shockwave to be in keeping with the beautiful DMK-01 model kit so i really went overboard on the details, with cybertronion tattoos etched into his gun and sword as well as cables and lots of mechanical details that are hidden all over this design. Shockwave is not just a base figure with extra bits glued on, he is absolutely unique as well as being very beefy and heavy."
I really like many aspects of the design of this figure. The metallic look and feel of the figure is bold, giving Shockwave the menacing feeling he had in the movie. There are many detailed photos to view over at his auction page so head over to eBay and check out Forgotten Forest's Custom Transformers DOTM Leader Class Shockwave figure.
Rough, raw, edgy, and built for battle are ways to describe Sabretooth's Workshop's Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Leader Class Shockwave figure. A lot of the parts on the figure were scratch built as to enhance the figure to Leader Class status. The chest is markedly different and I like the protrusion of the rib caged like chest, which gives the figure depth and dimension. The head on the figure, also scratch built, pays a nice homage to the Generation 1 Shockwave figure. The squared off and angled head with the light up eye helps achieve this look. There is also a fusion of purple and metal that weaves itself into the battle worn paint job that Sabretooth has painstakingly detailed on the figure. To place a bid on this amazing figure, head over to eBay and check out Sabretooth's Workshop's Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Leader Class Shockwave figure.
If you can't get something done the way you want it, do it yourself! That was Encline Designs inspiriation for this amazing Custom Transformers Leader Class Dark of the Moon Shockwave figure. This figure appears like a piece of digital art with the sharp edges and fine lines but looks can be deceiving as this is a scratch built figure made from a host of other Transformers figures. The protruding rib cage and leg armor give this figure an ominous 3D feel and the swivel and ball joints make this figure super poseable. Let's get a feel for how Encline Designs came up with the idea for this amazing figure:
"I have been hoping to see a huge DOTM Shockwave since the first time I saw laid my eyes on that awesome design. Shockwave have always been a favorite of mine. Seeing his movie design was perfect. He captures pure cold, calculating, and logical beast that he should be. I knew the only way to get one is to build it myself. Using a leader class Megatron, Optimus, and a bunch of random parts as a base to start with, I scratch built the body parts using styrene and a torch. Then finished it off with a sculpted head and unique paint job using many shades silvers and steel and then topped of with a slight purple pearl. He glows with great lighting! Standing at 10" tall, Shockwave is sure to make a unique and intimidating piece to your collection."
You can see from the photo above how the figures articulate, giving it the feel from the movie it deserves. This 10" figure must look amazing in person so if you want a chance to own this great work of art, head over to eBay and bid on Encline Design's Custom Transformers Leader Class Dark of the Moon Shockwave figure.
Living up to his Electrifying tagline, Big Hank has successfully blended the G1 and Dark of the Moon styles to achieve this Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Shockwave figure that is a cut above the rest. Adding LED's in the right places, the light up effects on the eye pay a nice homage to the cartoon version from the 80's where each word that the character spoke made his eye light up. The paint app on the figure is also well done with respect to the blending of the purple with the metal effects. The way this figure was painted and where the weathered silver was placed gives a nice depth and dimension that the original pre-customized figure lacks. In addition to the stellar overall look and feel, sound effects were added to the figure for you trigger happy collectors out there. If Zildjian's Custom Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon Shockwave figure is a sign of what is to come from the new movie, let the salivating begin! The arithmetic is simple...take a killer line of figures and add it to the hundreds of talented customizers out there and you have a recipe for great things to come. Speaking of which, Zildjian let's us inside his head on what enhancements he has made to Shockwave:
"In order to make Shockwave better resemble his Generation One character I switched him arms so that his blaster is on his left arm, not his right. This was no easy feat as it required disassembly, removal of pins, and shaving down of certain areas to allow the proper clearance of parts. Shockwave was given all the necessary preparatory work to produce durable, tough finishes. He was sprayed with multiple light coats of plastic adhesion promoter, and then sprayed with a custom mixture of Kustom Kolor plastic adhering paints."
The metal effects and the G1 color scheme really bring out the details in the figure. Most of the plastic on the original figure is pretty muted but Zildjian has brought out the best in this figure. Given that is a pre-release of the TF3 Shockwave, I can't wait for the line to be fully released so customizers like Zildjian can get their hands on them! Head over to eBay to bid on Zildjian's Custom Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon Shockwave figure today!
With a percentage of the sale going to the Battersea Dogs and Cats Charity, Unavermin brings us his Custom G1 Transformers Masterpiece Shockwave figure that scales really nicely with your MP collection. Chockablock full of modifications, this MP Shockwave has a new custom made head, pulsing LED eye, click rotation feet, blinking LED laser hand, laser blasting sound, and hip missile detail. To check out the scale of the figure, Unavermin posed the figure with an MP Starscream (not the most flattering pose for Starscream but he is used to begging on his knees for mercy):
Unavermin also made a short video demonstrating the blinking LED light in his head and blasting so check it out after you make the jump to view his Custom G1 Transformers Masterpiece Shockwave figure.
Building upon Megatron's G1 Military Commander, Sculpt-Bot brings us his Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Shockwave figure. This figure was built up from a "G1 junker" that Sculpt-Bot had lying around and he also had to scratch build the gun barrel, which he added a very cool feature. Since Shockwave is known as a computer with legs and is ruled by logic and reason, in Sculpt-Bot's words, "this gave me the opportunity to make it a little more useful in his bot mode, so I put a built in, flip out, science station in it," which allows him to analyze his newest experiments! You can check out the gun barrel and science station below:
Along with paying a very nice homage to the overall look of the figure, Sculpt-Bot managed to nail the G1 purple color that made Shockwave so special! To check out more photos of his Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Shockwave figure, head over to eBay!
[Disclaimer: The real Optimus Prime was not harmed in the making of this custom]
In all his purple Decepticon glory, KingOctoX Customs brings us his Custom Transformers G1 Shockwave figure. The classics silver and purple colors are reminiscent of the 80's figure and the addition of the LED light is a great touch, which complete the look! If you look closely, you will notice that this figure was given a Masterpiece style had, which adds to the figures poseability. The cool thing about this figure is that it comes with a bunch of bonuses! Here they are:
You can think of your own story of how Shockwave ended up with Optimus Prime's head and his Matrix of Leadership as you head over to eBay and check out all of photos for KingOctoX's Custom Transformers G1 Shockwave figure.
Paying homage to the great G1 figure of the 80's, Thyvipera brings us this Custom Transformers G1 Classics Shockwave figure. The laser in the left hand is customized, which makes the figure look like the cartoon version and very far from the original Transformers Energon Shockblast figure that was the original base for this great custom. The photo below demonstrates the talent that customizers possess:
This figure has many great attributes like a rotating head that moves side to side and up and down, 360 degree shoulder and lower leg rotation. If you want to view more photos of this great Custom Transformers G1 Classics Shockwave figure, head over to eBay where you can also see the alternate mode.
Sabrina Ng is at it again with a fully loaded Custom Transformers Henkei Shockwave. What I love about this figure is that it looks like the G1 classic figure in robot mode and in alternate mode he looks like a futuristic battle station. Let's read more about this great custom:
"Up for grabs today is Henkei Shockwave. Armed to the teeth and more. He was also modified at his back with a small hook to prevent him from toppling. Those with the shockblast figure should know what I mean. Rare earth magnets were used for the weapon add-ons. Shockwave is able to pose freely with his weapons. As usual, Shockwave was protected with Anti-UV clear and will last you for a long time to come!"

The Transformers Revenge of the Fallen line is getting one more Decepticon thanks to DarkCaveCustoms. This Custom ROTF Shockwave figure is awesome and combines an updated look with the classic paint scheme of the G1 figure. The ROTF Leader Class Megatron is the perfect base figure for Shockwave and DarkCaveCustoms added his skills as a customizer to bring this figure to life!
What I love about BoskoesToys is that they are always striving to create new figures for toy lines and there latest Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Shockwave figure is no exception. I agree with Boskoes when they said it is a shame that Shockwave did not make it into the movie but if it did, Hasbro would have made a terrible figure so we need people like Boskoes to introduce old characters that did not get any screen time. The alternate mode is very interesting as they made this figure transform into a Power Station:
DarkCaveCustoms has possibly one of the most creative uses of the Blackout figure I have seen to date with his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Shockwave figure. Curiously absent in the last two Transformers movies, DarkCave has solved this problem by making one of his own. What I like about this figure is that the G1 look and feel is still retained in the figure with the head sculpt and purple color. This figure would fit in nicely with either Generation 1 or movie lines. There are also subtle additions to the figure such as the chain gun that magnetically attaches. DarkCave takes many detailed photos so be sure to check them out over at his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Shockwave eBay page.
When I first saw the Transformers Universe 2.0 Onslaught figure, I never imagined that someone would turn into a masterpiece but Darkcave Customs has managed to create a killer concept with this Custom Transformers Universe 2.0 Shockwave figure. Darkcave has managed to retain the classic feel of Shockwave while giving him a more Cybertronian look to him in vehicle mode. Let's read more about the back story of this figure from the source:
"Shockwave has not spent his time idle while guarding all of Cybertron in Megatron's absense.
Far from it. He's spent the millennia experimenting on Decepticon and Autobot prisoners,
pushing their pain receptors to the limit, or until their spark exhausts itself in a
burst of fiery agony. Oddly enough, he has moddified his own weapon and targeting systems, even to go as far as to mount a Negative Energon Furnace into a cannon turrett.he's not sure which is more memorable: The look in the faces of the Autobot idiots when his cannon comes into view, or their deactivated shells that lye charred in the wake of his firepower. It matters not. They are all just data, data that will further the will of Lord Megatron."

Tonyz Customs has brought the concept art of Don Figueroa to life with his Custom Transformers War Within Shockwave. The finish on this figure is amazing and Tony captures the Generation 1 feel of the figure while also keeping the War Within styling in mind. It is a great blend of concept and execution in my opinion! Let's hear more about this great custom from Tony:
"He comes with a removable left hand for the Tank mode so he has the treads and a blaster hand for bot mode(Both are fitted with strong magnets for easy switch). The purple used is slightly metallic gving this big guy a very nice finish. Know some one who just loved the War Within series like me and always wanted him to be in the story like this"
Let's take a look at the concept art, which Tony used as the inspiration for this custom:
As you can see, he done an excellent job making this concept come to life:
I like the contrast of the black treads as it really sets off the rest of figure in tank mode. The finish looks eaqually as great in this mode for an all around great looking custom. To bid on Tonyz' Custom War Within Shockwave, head over to eBay!
Shockwave was already a great addition to the Transformers Classics line and, as expected, Jin Saotome goes above and beyond and really brings out the Generation 1 feel to this Custom Transformers G1 Shockwave figure. Using the purple and pink color scheme from the cartoon, this figure very closely resembles the Shockwave from the 1980's. I like the modifications that were made from the Classics figure and it just goes to show you that more is less in robot mode. In blaster mode, on the otherhand, this figure closely resembles a German Nebelwerfer, a six-barreled (nonrotating) tubular projector, with barrels 3 to 3 1/2 feet long and 160 mm in diameter.
On that note, let's hear more about this great figure from Jin: "This auction is for an 8” tall ‘Shockwave’ figure with removable arm blasters, magnetic shoulder cannons, and Space Cannon/Ship base. He has multiple points of articulation and in my opinion is the best Shockwave mold ever to come out of the Transformers line. He’ll fit right in with your current Transformers collection and is scaled to Voyager size. He doesn’t come with instructions because of the different Alt mode but you can probably figure it out by the pics. You asked for him time and time again, the cold and calculating Decepticon with the single eye. Shockwave is back and this time he’s packing an arsenal of weapons! As you can see he’s been decked out in G1 colors using deep shadows, highlights, metallic effects, and the shocking purple/pinkish color right from the show. Shockwave has also been sealed against paint wear and transforms into a Space Cannon or removing the base has him looking like a cosmic battleship of sorts. His arm cannons are removable and fire off missiles while his giant shoulder cannons magnetically mount and can be removed too. So, were you looking for the definitive Shockwave for your Classics/Universe collection?"

Boskoestoys have outdone themselves once again and paid a really nice homage to a 1980's legends with their Custom Transformers Generation 1 Shockwave figure. Made from a Transformers Classics Megatron, Boskoestoys has taken that mold to the next level. The head sculpt is great and really captures Shockwave's G1 look. Another aspect that captures the Generation 1 feel is the color as Boskoestoys was able to replicate a very close match to the original scheme with the nice addition of color variation. Shockwave come jammed packed with some really cool accessories, some which may surprise you! For example, Shockwave comes with a cool Lightsaber (yes you read that correctly), an Energon Axe, 7 different left hand attachments (fit in and out on a sturdy bionical type plug system, attachment port flips out of left forarm, and back in for transformation), a lightning rod, and the large base.
Boskoestoys Custom Transformers G1 Shockwave can be yours by placing a bid on their eBay item page!
The Autobots and Decepticons, during the great Cybertronian War, crash landed on earth. Millions of years later, geological activity revives the warring factions - the Decepticons want to strip the earth of its vast energy resources, and the Autobots seek to protect the inhabitants of earth from that fate. And so an endless battle begins!
Only being 11 at the time of release of the movie back in 1986, I was eagerly awaiting the Transformers to hit the silver screen! I finally saw the movie and I left the theatre wanting to buy more toys! The movie was amazing and I still watch it to this day. The Transformers Cartoon subtly introduced new characters into the plot (for those who don't know, I am being sarcastic here as the cartoon was well known for gratuitously adding characters to support the ever growing toy line).
One Decepticon worked behind the scenes on Cybertron and when Megatron lead his troops in pursuit of Optimus Prime and the Ark, Shockwave was to stay behind and guard Cybertron while Megatron was out to conquer Earths natural resources. Shockwave was stationed on Cybertron for four million years. Shockwave carried out his tasks on Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons were entombed on Earth. With little supplies of energy the planet had to dwindle. Shockwave briefly came to Earth and joined Megatrons troops in episode but returned to Cybertron shortly thereafter.
Jin Saotome, as only he can, captures the true essence of Shockwave in his lastest custom. The attention to detail is amazing (as usual) and as he explains:
"This auction is for an 8” tall custom Transformers Movie-style Shockwave with... *deep breath* removable right hand with articulated fingers, silver laser cannon hand, clear red laser cannon hand, light-up unit, missile launching claw with 3 missiles, gatling gun arm with six missiles, twin side shields, twin shoulder-mounted plasma guns, and Space Cannon base. You also get a high gloss black base with solid metal Decepticon logo to display him on, WHEW! He has multiple points of articulation, far too many for me to count so I’m not even going to try. This means you can pose Shockwave here in all sorts of awesome Autobot-annihilating poses and he’ll look great in every one. He transforms just like the store-bought one and changing his form around won’t affect the paint job at all. He comes with instructions because these figures can be like skill-puzzles sometime!
This custom has been painted with an exceptional level of detail, and with paint that’s not going to rub or flake off. Handle it, pose it, just don’t give it to your little brother to play outside with. You’ll find that my custom figure designs are durable and look great as well. Now you can have the best of both worlds. It’s time for Shockwave to make an appearance again and this time it’s on a grand scale! This particular figure commemorates my very first Transformer custom ever, a G1ish Energon Shockblast. I have David Willis of Shortpacked to thank for making me realize Shockwave needed a better gun-arm and TFmaster (God rest his soul) for asking, nay, demanding that I host it on Transtopia, thus introducing me to a whole new world of Transformers kitbashes! I decided to go back to my roots and use that same Shockblast figure but needed to make it special this time around. And boy are you all in for a treat!
Shockwave features SEVEN interchangeable parts that attach with rare earth magnets for a perfect fit. His right hand has articulated fingers and can be replaced with any of the weapons too. First you have his classic G1 ‘clear plastic’ laser hand that lights up. Swap that out for a more modern silver laser cannon that also lights up at the tip. Need more firepower? Lock on the rotating cannon claw that fires three missiles! What, need more? Then attach the giant shielded Gatling gun hand that rotates and fires six consecutive missiles! Wait, you need even more than that? Then deck Shockwave out with twin shoulder cannons and replace both hands with his missile-launching weapons. There are tons of combinations here. Shockwave transforms into a massive Space Cannon that you can customize to look as you want it, the twin Gatling gun shields becoming the main laser array and lighting up. It spins, rotates, and looks fairly menacing there on its special tripod stand.
Shockwave has of course been painting with the same detailed applications I’m known for with various shading, highlights, metallic colors, and he’s even been sealed for extra protection. With a little ingenuity you can come up with a gun-mode for Shockwave (check my site and look at the old one) but I won’t show it here because EBay will require me to stick a gaudy orange plug on the end, heh. The light-up unit attaches to his back and can be plugged in to the different laser weapons he comes with. So, were you looking for the Shockwave to end all Shockwaves? I’m not making another like this. Know a diehard fan that would be your willing servant for life if you gave them this? Then don’t pass this auction up! Now for the pics, and there’s a lot of them!"
There is still time to bid on Jin Saotome's Custom Shockwave Transformer on eBay so get on it!
