You have to admit that a large robot walking through the desert with a "disguise" over his head was a stretch but it gave Megatron a unique look for the Transformers Dark of the Moon movie. Capturing this look in stunning detail is Andy Hibb's Custom Transformers DOTM Megatron. Using ROTF Leader Prime and ROTF Leader Megatron parts as well as many scratch built parts using styrene, Andy has created a super detailed movie version and combining one his favorite scenes in the movie, he has also made a mini diorama! Here is Andy to tell you more about his creation:
"The figure can be posed in many different ways and is very articulated! I have studied many movie stills and pictures to create a very movie accurate custom which will be a perfect addition to any serious collectors collection. I have also scratch built the remains of Abraham Lincolns statue which Megatron half destroys and then sits down in which is one of my fave scenes of the film."

Looks like someone is trying to offload one of Xaviercal's coolest customs on eBay this week! This Custom Transformers Ultimate Ironhide in Leader Class scale. Irohide is a master of weaponology and this rendition of the figure really pays homage to the kick ass nature of the Autobot who got little airtime in the movies for how cool he is. Eighteen LED lights adorn this amazing figure, which are located in the Head, Headlights, fog lights, cab lights, stock guns, and 3rd part weapons, to name a few. The paint app is impressive and really highlights the metallic looking parts on a plastic figure. Not only does the figure look intimidating in robot mode, but it looks just as cool in vehicle mode! Combining forces to create this Custom Leader Class Transformers Shockwave DOTM figure, jacerc130 and Encline Designs display their unique talents. Kitbashing and sculpting various parts of the this figure, jacerc130 has transformed one of the iconic figures in the Transformers universe into a towering giant. One of my favorite parts of this custom is the large gun, which seems to have tentacles growing into it. This gives the gun a living breathing persona to it, which makes you wonder if it has a mind of its own. Topping the figure off with Shockwave's patented single eye and purple look, this figure possesses both the updated look from the movies as well as the classic feel of the 80's classic. Sealing this look is Encline Designs god given talent in paint application and design. To check out more photos of this Custom Leader Class Transformers Shockwave DOTM figure, head over to eBay!
In the Transformers Dark of the Moon movie, the presence of Shockwave was not only seen but was also felt through the rumblings of earth and the twisted metal that made this character one of the coolest Decepticons on the silver screen. Hasbro only gave Shockwave a Voyager Class figure mold but ForgottonForest has given this beast the leader class treatment he deserves with his Custom Transformers DOTM Leader Class Shockwave figure. Let's read how ForgettenForest made this great figure:
"This custom made Leader Class dark of the moon Shockwave stands at an impressive 11.5 inches tall and is designed to fit perfectly with all other leader class figures. He has been scratch built to be as acurate to the Josh Nizzi concept art and official movie CGI renders as possible. i took great care to build this custom with a sense of power and strength to acurately mirror his appearance in the film in addition to ensuring his menacing and evil aspects were also represented. I wanted Shockwave to be in keeping with the beautiful DMK-01 model kit so i really went overboard on the details, with cybertronion tattoos etched into his gun and sword as well as cables and lots of mechanical details that are hidden all over this design. Shockwave is not just a base figure with extra bits glued on, he is absolutely unique as well as being very beefy and heavy."
I really like many aspects of the design of this figure. The metallic look and feel of the figure is bold, giving Shockwave the menacing feeling he had in the movie. There are many detailed photos to view over at his auction page so head over to eBay and check out Forgotten Forest's Custom Transformers DOTM Leader Class Shockwave figure.
One of the pivotal scenes in the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen movie was the epic battle in the forest between the forces of good and evil! Megatron and Optimus Prime were engaged in a fierce entanglement and Encline Designs has captured the moment where the great leader of the Autobots lost his spark with his Custom Leader Class Megatron and Optimus Prime diorama. Encline Designs is at the top of my list as one of the best customizers out there and his diorama really captures the somber mood and climax of Optimus Prime as he clings to life's last moments before he goes dark. It looks like this dio might have been a commission piece that someone is selling so lucky for you!
Standing an impressive 11" tall and scratch built from the concept art from Josh Nizzi comes ForgottenForest's Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Leader Class Megatron figure. this figure was designed with detail in mind with sculpted 3D rust effects, pistons that expand and contract, and lots of mechanical details that are hidden all over this design. The rust effects add a very cool effect on Megatron that mirrors his look in the movie, completing his decrepit and decomposing body he is trying so desperately to save. The pistons add realism and the addition of moving parts to a figure is always a plus. A special secret lies within his gun and to tell you more about this effect is ForgottenForrest himself:
I love the G1 effect as it is like and Easter Egg that only you (and the readers of this blog) will know! To view more photos of ForgottenForest's Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Leader Class Megatron figure, head over to eBay!
The addition of Optimus Prime's plethora of arsenal in the Transformers Dark of the Moon movie gave Prime the ability to fend off the Decepticons and Sentinal Prime in the battle to save eaeth and JCArtwork has captured this version of Prime in fanatastic detail and scale. This Custom Transformers DOTM Leader Class Ultimate Jetwing Optimus Prime captures the vision that movie portrayed in stunning scale and detail. The colors are so vibrant and they look like how they did on the big screen. In addition to the LED's that light up in the eyes, JCArtwork has also put LED's in the weapons as well, giving an energizing effect of powering on. If you are going to buy an Optimus Prime, this one would be the one to own! Combining the best of all Transformers movies into one super scale leader class figure is one of the best homages I have seen thus far to the great leader of the Autobots!
JCartwork has outdone themselves with their latest Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Ironhide figure. I don't remember Ironhide having a very large part in the Transformers Dark of the Moon movie but I am happy to see a Leader Class figure, rounding out the collection. It is cool to see Prime's two right hand men (Bumblebee and Ironhide) in a larger scale. Given Hasbro's lack luster look and feel, the silver and golds are in the right places, which makes Ironhide's face really stand out. The LED's give the figure an awe inspiring look and make the cannon appear that it is spinning at million RPM's ready to fire off a shot. The figure looks fantastic in GMC truck mode as it actually looks like a vehicle with the chrome stacks and showroom paint job. This Leader Class figure is heads and shoulders above the rest with its killer paint app, styling, LED's, and, in JCartwork's words, "freaking huge cannons!!!"
If you can't get something done the way you want it, do it yourself! That was Encline Designs inspiriation for this amazing Custom Transformers Leader Class Dark of the Moon Shockwave figure. This figure appears like a piece of digital art with the sharp edges and fine lines but looks can be deceiving as this is a scratch built figure made from a host of other Transformers figures. The protruding rib cage and leg armor give this figure an ominous 3D feel and the swivel and ball joints make this figure super poseable. Let's get a feel for how Encline Designs came up with the idea for this amazing figure:
"I have been hoping to see a huge DOTM Shockwave since the first time I saw laid my eyes on that awesome design. Shockwave have always been a favorite of mine. Seeing his movie design was perfect. He captures pure cold, calculating, and logical beast that he should be. I knew the only way to get one is to build it myself. Using a leader class Megatron, Optimus, and a bunch of random parts as a base to start with, I scratch built the body parts using styrene and a torch. Then finished it off with a sculpted head and unique paint job using many shades silvers and steel and then topped of with a slight purple pearl. He glows with great lighting! Standing at 10" tall, Shockwave is sure to make a unique and intimidating piece to your collection."
You can see from the photo above how the figures articulate, giving it the feel from the movie it deserves. This 10" figure must look amazing in person so if you want a chance to own this great work of art, head over to eBay and bid on Encline Design's Custom Transformers Leader Class Dark of the Moon Shockwave figure.
After seeing Transformers Dark of the Moon, I appreciated how the designers made Optimus with more weapons and Frenzy.Rumble has created one of the greatest figures I have seen thus far with his Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Ultimate Optimus Prime. If you want a figure that stays true to the movie, this one is it! Not only does this figure have enough armor on it repel any Decepticon onslaught, Frenzy.Rumble paid attention to detail so many aspects of this figure. By custom making wings and a jet pack, this figure looks like he was pulled right from the movie. The jet pack was designed to appear that the thrusters were about to take off, which is a very cool effect and the Autobot symbols add a nice touch to this great addition.
Optimus also has the ability to change his head from battle to regular mode thanks to alternate head sculpts. To get a look at the amazing detail this figure possesses, check out the image of one of the legs below. You will see weathering, battle damage, and intricate paint works to achieve a robotic and metal effect. Although this figure does not transform into a truck, the robot mode of this figure makes up for the lack of transformation. What is the Transformers universe without Starscream's sidekicks? Wilestbilame gives us a sneak peak at what that world would look like with his Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Leader Class Thundercracker in G1 colors. I don't see many Dark of the Moon G1 customs so this one stood out among the great Transformers customs this week. The G1 color scheme and the striping pays a nice homage to the Thundercracker of the 80's and gives the figure an updated look with the F-22 Raptor design. Here is the back story and the inspiration for this figure:
"While waiting for dark of the moon to premiere, it was announced that a version of movie starscream with thundercracker colors was in the works, I was excited hoping it would be an updated voyager or even leader version (dare to dream) much to my dismay it was a deluxe version, and while it's nice and all I always felt that both thundercracker and skywarp where lost potential in the movie universe, they would have been awesome as leader class figures and even more on the big screen to say the least, but I said to myself no more! I also made several modifications which include include fully individuallly fingered articulate hands with movie accurate knuckle claws!(special thanks to fakebuster for providing these!) articulate wrists of 360 degree movement, all of this and still fully transformable! custom movieverse decepticon symbols, about 6 different shades of metal used for his metallic parts for a realistic look, meticulously detailed with different tones of gold and silver all the way up to his eye sockets! I literally searched every little detail where attention needed to be given to create one of the most detailed movie figures ever!! he even has individually detailed wires!! all of this done with the highest quality automotive grade lacquers, enamels and acrylics available."
The exposed wiring gives the figure a more realistic feel and the articulation in the fingers gives it more of a human personality that comes through when you see the movies. It is great to see teamwork on these customs and Wilestbilame credits Fakebuster for proving movie accurate knuckle claws. It is amazing to see how each customizer chooses to spend their time to achieve Movie greatness and you would not think that adding articulation to fingers makes a big difference but it really does. It only took 3 movies but TF3 has brought us one of the great characters in the line now in Leader Class form and Frenzy.Rumble has turned Good to Great and Epic into Ultimate with his Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Ironhide figure. I must say, the off the shelf version of this figure is not bad but after getting one glimpse of Frenzy.Rumble's creation, I have to agree with his 'Ultimate' designation for this figure. There are certain levels of customizing Frenzy.Rumble can take a figure, iterate the heck out of it, and transform it into a work of art. Take one look at the before and after shot:
At a 10,000 foot view, giving this figure a cohesive style and color was a huge improvement. I was not sure why the original figure has blue but Frenzy.Rumble saw this as an opportunity to give the figure the look it was meant for. At the 1,000 foot level, you will notice two very large scratch built cannons attached to his arms. These cannons bring out the badass in the figure, which boasted the line 'Feeling lucky, punk" in the first movie. Not only do these cannons look amazing, they also have LEDs for added effect:
At the 100 foot view, you will see paint app accents that give depth to the figure and define the various segments of the body. Sometimes when a figure is made this great, the ability to transform the figure is sacrificed but who would want to turn this figure into a truck when it looks this amazing? The release of the movie is right around the corner and Frenzy.Rumble's Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Ironhide figure is set to end on June 29th so make sure you mark that on your calendar so you don't forget to bid on this epic figure!
With the Transformers Dark of the Moon figures out in full force, customizers all around the world are making these figures their own. Ultra Magnus was one of Dark Cave Custom's favorite characters from the 80's and it is great to see him remake this iconic character in modern form with his Custom Transformers DOTM Ultra Magnus figure. To capture the essence of Ultra Magnus, Dark Cave created a custom head and weapons that are signature to this great character. Given that this figure originally was a Sentinel Prime, Dark Cave achieved this look by making some great modifications and applying a killer paint app that is unique and re-imagines one of the great figures from the 80's in Transformers Movie form.
Transforming the lack luster Transformers Hunt for Decepitcons Leader Class Optimus Prime into this awesome Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime custom really demonstrates Zildjian's talent and attention to detail. First of all, if you have seen the HFD Prime, it really looks nothing like this great figure that Zildjian has created. The colors are vibrant and was made with custom decals, created by Frenzy.Rumble, to achieve this DOTM look. Here is the rundown of the other features this figure contains:
- Fully articulated custom cast hands
- DOTM "styled" abdomen that connects magnetically and can be removed for transformation
- Screen accurate flames designed by Frenzy_Rumble that are decaled and hand painted on Prime
- New rubber single front tires, and rubber double tires in the rear
- Extended real chrome smoke stacks
- Chrome side view mirrors
- Correct blue LED in the head so eyes light up BLUE
- Custom painted "burning hot" arms blades that are now removable and held in the forearms with magnets
Some very cool Bonus items were added to this great custom:
- He will come with an additional front section of the head that features the face wothout the battle faceplate. This can easily be switched onto the figure's head by removing a screw from the back of the head.
- Prime will also come with a set of custom painted "flaming hot" arm battle hooks that easily plug into the holes in the forearms and held by magnets!
It is great that Zildjian did not wait for a DOTM Leader Class Prime to come out and just customize that version as this is a great example of customizers taking the Transformers line into their own hands and making great things! Sometimes when you are creating a figure and accuracy is your goal, you have to make some sacrifices and FrogDNA has made the ultimate sacrifice with his Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Leader Class Starscream. To make this figure as accurate as he could, the ability for the figure to transform does not exist anymore but what he did in its place totally makes up for this. Let's read all about how he modded this figure:
"I tried to replicate every single detail from the CGI model, which differs greatly from the actual figure. I added tons of parts on his chest, arms and legs, for that messy and sharpy decepticon look. The original canopy section was removed, since it's not there in the movie version, leaving only the canopy itself, for a more accurate look. The whole chest section was redone using mostly new parts to get the right look (much bulkier than the original figure). The middle section (the one that goes right beneath his neck) was resculpted to be permanently open, with a few tiny mechanical parts here and there. A few parts were added on his neck as well. Speaking of which, the his head now can be tilted side to side. I added several wires on his arms, instead of just paiting the sculpted ones, for a much more reallistic look. I also added articulated fingers, and a ball joint on his right hand. Each finger has a tiny spike added, just like the CGI model has."
The fine details are what makes this custom great. It is the attention to detail paid to the chest of the figure and the additions of the spikes at the ends of the fingers that gives this Starscream a very unique look that is different from any other custom Leader Class figure. The wires added to the arms gives the figure some depth and the newly sculpted face gives Starscream his power hungry look. FrogDNA has taken many more photos over at his auction page so head over to eBay and check out his Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Leader Class Starscream figure.
Sunstorm has had many roles and personalities through the Transformers generations but one thing has always remained the same, he was always a Decepticon jet who is yellow or orange in color and DarkCaveCustoms has given him the royal leader class treatment with his Custom Transformers Sunstorm figure. Always wanted to create his own version of Sunstorm, Darkcave has come out swinging and hit a home run with this one. This figure looks amazing with the custom Cybertronian markings and the array of armaments that magnetically attach to the figure. Here are some more highlights:
- Custom sculpted head
- Buzzsaw saw and Rail gun
- The Rail gun opens and extends!
- The Buzzsaw actually spins!
- Eyes light up, chest lights up
To check out more amazing photos of DarkCave's Custom Transformers Sunstorm figure, head over to eBay!
I am not usually a fan of repaints but Lek's Custom Transformers Movie Leader Class Brawl is one of the best movie customs I have seen a very long time. First of all, this figure does not even come close to looking like the original figure. If you take a look at the comparison picture below, Habro's version, of course, looks like a child's toy (and yes these are primarily designed for children) but Lek's custom looks like it belongs in the military. If I did not know the scale of the figure, I would swear that this this tank was photographed on a military base:
Most often with the original figures, the face of the figure blends into the plastic and it can barely be seen but Lek did and excellent job bringing out the facial features of Brawl:
If you are looking for a Desert Brawl figure look no further because Lek's Custom Transformers Movie Leader Class Brawl is the one for you!
It is great when customizers get their hands on a figure that is their favorite in the toy line and this is the case for Frenzy.Rumble's Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Leader Class Starscream figure. He took a great figure and made it perfect. Attention to detail is something that Frenzy.Rumble does very well. For example, he removed the tattoos that did not appear on the Movie Starscream and redid them to make the figure as movie accurate as he could. I also like small details and it is great to see that he put ball joints on the hands as this gives the figure the personality and poseability from the movie. To see the level of detail and hard work that goes into these customs, check out the before and after shots:
Frenzy.Rumble has a ton of modifications listed so head over to eBay and check out his Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Leader Class Starscream figure.
One thing that I love about new movies is that they provide customizers with a fresh canvas to create great works of art and collectibles. That brings me to MyCuztom's latest creation, which is a Custom Ultra Magnus Revenge of the Fallen Transformers custom. This figure is very well done and the colors used remind me of the G1 Ultra Magnus as that was pretty much a white version of Optimus Prime. To check out the full array of photos and to place a bid on this great figure, head over to eBay and check out MyCuztom's Custom Ultra Magnus Revenge of the Fallen Transformers figure.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas! This week, Zildjian has an awesome Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Nemesis Prime figure. It is hard to believe that this used to be a ROTF Leader Class Optimus Prime figure but Zildjian has done such a great job with this figure. This is one of the most detailed Nemesis Prime's I have seen to date. I love the red, gold, and silver detailing as it is very well done. The figure is also wired with LED lights so you will have to head over to eBay and check out Zildjian's Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Nemesis Prime figure to see him in all its glory.
What I love about BoskoesToys is that they are always striving to create new figures for toy lines and there latest Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Shockwave figure is no exception. I agree with Boskoes when they said it is a shame that Shockwave did not make it into the movie but if it did, Hasbro would have made a terrible figure so we need people like Boskoes to introduce old characters that did not get any screen time. The alternate mode is very interesting as they made this figure transform into a Power Station:
The new Leader ROTF Class Optimus Prime figure as a great upgrade from the previous 2007 movie version but Zildjian has upped the stakes with his Custom Transformers ROTF Optimus Prime figure that possesses many great features and stunning detail. The first thing that jumped out at me was the showroom finish paint aps that shows off Zildjian's talent. Attention to detail is a strong point for this custom so here are the finer points from Zildjian himself:
- High end House of Kolor Automotive metallic blue and red urethane paints.
- Alclad II mirror chrome finish on all robotic and chrome truck parts
- High quality vinyl decaled flames with hand painted silver trim.
- High end automotive clear coat finish.
- Multiple shades of Alclad silver, gunmetal, aluminum, copper and gold on all details
- Custom made gun with switch activated working high intensity white LEDs. LEDs and switch are hidden behind a sliding door on top of the gun. The batteries are replaceable.
- Each energy sword has switch activated dual red SMD LEDs and are removable from Prime's forearms. They connect within Prime's forearms with a rare earth magnet. They both also have easy access to the batteries to replace them.
- Upgraded chrome smoke stacks.
- Chrome side view mirrors.
- Chains and tractor trailer air brake connection wires on the back of the truck.
- Chrome hubcaps and single rubber front tires, and dual rear rubber tires. The tires DO NOT roll, they are fixed.
- Articulated hands.
- Blue LED in head replacing the green one.
As you can see, this Custom Transformers ROTF Optimus Prime figure is not only a beauty to look at but contains many features that make this Optimus a one of a kind.
It is not often that I see great figures come up again but Chris Morada has another Custom ROTF Leader Class Fallen Prime up this week. I originally wrote an article on this figure on June 25th so I am excited to see it again! This is still one my favorite concept figures and I love the photo above as it looks like Optimus is about to open a can of whoop ass on some unsuspecting bots.
Frenzy.Rumble's Custom Revenge of the Fallen Power Up Optimus Prime is ending today in 4 hours! This is the most viewed custom I have seen in a very long time. It is about the break the 15K view mark so head over there and place a bid while you still can!
I have always been a fan of Encline Designs and he has an Optimus Prime up this week that is awesome! His Custom Leader Class ROTF Optimus Prime is stunning. I love the additions of the new stacks and the articulated hands as these subtle details really make the figure. Encline is being shy with the photos for this one because he has a master plan to keep you coming back for more so be sure to check out his Custom Leader Class ROTF Optimus Prime figure often to see what he has added to the great leader of the Autobots.
Xaviercal is kickin' it G1 style with his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Megatron in Generation 1 color scheme. The way he painted this figure makes the parts stand out. For example, the tank treads and the gun are so muted in the original figure because everything is the same color. By adding black, red, and gold accents to the figure, it helps to bring out the classic nature of the figure and remind us of the Megatron that we grew up with. The red accents really define the sections of the figure and call attention to the arms and legs. You will also notice the absence of the toothpick arm on the original figure as he gave Megatron two new arms, which go well with the figure and make Megatron more menacing as he looked kind of pathetic with a thin arm. If you want to check out more photos, head over to eBay and see Xaviercal's Custom Revenge of the Fallen Megatron figure.
I have said it before and I will say it again...these are the figures that should have been made for the Revenge of the Fallen Movie! Not only is Frenzy.Rumble keeping himself busy, he is going above and beyond the call of duty and this Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Optimus Prime is yet another example of his talent. The paint aps are stunning and I urge you to head over to eBay and check out more photos of this stellar looking Optimus Prime.
Encline Designs has a wicked twist on Optimus Prime with his Custom Leader Class ROTF Nemesis Prime figure. If there was ever a figure so dark and twisted, it would be this one! Not only does this figure pack enough heat to melt anyone it his path, but the facial expression Encline chose for this figure gives it the evil personality it was made for. I enjoy reading how customizers describe their creations so let's read how Encline tells his story:
This one is the direct disciple of The Fallen. Empowered by the fire inside, he hunts. Nemesis hunts for any Cybertronian that did not side with The Fallen when he chose in his deepest of processors to gain power. Being the most hot headed of three prototforms created together, he hunts with out mercy. Nemesis has made his way to earth. Sensing a new fear of a great warrior, he takes his form. The hunt will begin by putting fear in the heart of this brave leader by killing off his soldiers one by one. Under estimating the strength and pure drive to protect that Optimus Prime has, Nemesis meets his match sooner than expected. Loving the trill of hand to hand combat, Nemesis drops his shoulder cannon and wants to remove Prime's head for his trophies.
There are many cool features on this figure and to view the ones that light up, head over to eBay and check out Encline Design's Custom Leader Class ROTF Nemesis Prime figure.
Megatron kind of got the shaft in the 2007 Transformers movie with getting a cube shoved in his chest and getting dumped liked yesterdays garbage in the Laurentian Abyss but Encline Designs has resurrected the leader of the Decepticons with his Custom Leader Class Revenge of the Fallen Megatron figure. This figure has been enhanced, sculpted, and sanded from its original version and I have to say it is such an improvement. To read more about how he achieved this effect, let's hear it from Encline Designs himself:
"As you can tell, I put a ton of work into him fixing the arms. I there are now ratchet joints at both elbows with hands, claws, mandables..(whatever they are) on ball joints at the wrists!!!! The DEATH ARM has 3 options!!!!! You can have the regular arm, attach the gun, or remove the arm all together and snap the DEATH ARM into place. Now with an elbow. Yes, the missile still fires. I sanded down Megatron with 150 grit to give him some texture. He was airbrushed with HOUSE OF KOLOR gunmetal enamel base. I Shadowed with transparent black and highlighted with ALCAD II chrome(that is ground up aluminum). I then did some brush work to add the rust and weathering. He can still be transformed!"
Check out this Custom Leader Class Revenge of the Fallen Megatron figure to either view more photos or place a bid!
Not happy with how the Transformers Movie figures turned out, timandashley2005 have redesigned and custom created this Transformers Movie Blackout figure to be accurate. Although this Transformer is not transformable, he felt that the need to go above and beyond to create this great looking figure and the best part is that 10% of the proceeds from this auction go to help the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. I think it is great that customizers deviate from the norm and make tradeoffs for the best of the custom and the fans. Let's read more about this great custom:
"You are looking at a custom leader class non-transformable Movie style Blackout. Blackout out was created out of a need to fill in my movie collection. He was painted in Citadel acrylics and made from scratch. The base of this figure is Leader class Megatron, arms cannons and other bitz came from other transformers and model kits. His left arm rotor is removable for display and shipping purposes. Blackouts face was hand sculpted."
Head over to eBay to place a bid on this Transformers Movie Blackout figure for a great cause!
When I first saw the Cybertron Leader Class Optimus Prime figure, I never imagined that this figure could be turned into something this spectacular. DarkCave Customs has really outdone himself with his Custom Transformers Galvatron Prime with Roller. This figure pays homage to the G1 colors of the original Galvatron but he takes this figure to another level with the massage body armor and guns. This figure also was made with some special features, which you can read about below:
"For sale today is Galvatron Prime and Battle Roller. They are a modified Cybertron Leader Class Optimus Prime and a heavily modified Classics Acid Storm. He has been modified into a armored Heavy Truck and Single Manned Combat Tank. They come with an Ion Fusion cannon, with an operational laser sight, 4 Plasma Discharge Rifles and combined more than 20 points of magnetic connections."
There are a gaggle of photos over at eBay so head over there and check out DarkCave Customs's Galvatron Custom Transformers Galvatron Prime with Roller figures.
Manana109 pays homage to one of the most, in my opinion, undercustomized figures of the line with his Custom Transformers Leader Class Brawl figure. I love the camo job as it is really detailed and the browns really stand out on the figure, giving it more definition. If you want to see more photos, head over to eBay!
Creg is back in full force and has a movie accurate Custom Optimus Prime Leader Class figure to feast your eyes on. Creg has really captured the personality of Optimus Prime and this shows in this custom. Sculpting a new face for Prime, he was able to capture the concerned look of the Autobot leader, giving this figure his own persona that adds to the display capabilities of the figure. To do this, he created two heads for this figure and added articulation in the form of ball jointed neck. Don't underestimate the tilt of a head to give the figure a new look as this also adds some human aspect to the figure and ability for it to change emotion with each tilt of the head:
Although Creg said that he has not made a Transformers custom in a while, you would never know it from this work of art so head over to eBay and see the vast photos of his awesome Custom Optimus Prime Leader Class figure.
Sabrina Ng has gone above and beyond with her latest homage to the great leader of the Autobots with her Custom Leader Class Optimus Prime with trailer. This custom is jam packed with detail, as well as a uniquely designed MP-02 Trailer and a custom Battler Roller (remember that six wheeled little guy...yup...he is in there too!). I love the way that Sabrina can turn plastic into metal and she has a great eye for the color palette. Here to give us more detail is Sabrina herself:
"This figure is one the main reasons why I wanted to take up customizing initially. I've always wanted to do up a full repaint of the Movie Optimus Prime but it was too complex at first. The multiple layering of colours as well as flames made it a nightmare for most customizers. My G1 Prime enabled me to understand the toy's design better while I planned for a colour concept that would be unique to him. 6 months after my 1st custom, I belief that I've managed to recreate a Movie version of Optimus Prime that is truly aesthetically pleasing. This auction includes Movie Optimus Prime, an MP-04 trailer, the MP-02 Commander Set, the TFC-EX002 Battle Roller as well as an extra weapon for Optimus Prime. Optimus Prime was given many shades of colours that range from sunset yellow to orange, red and blue. Most of the colours blend smoothly into one another. He was also given a Mirror Chrome finish on certain parts of him. Do note that this is the Hasbro version of Optimus Prime. He does not initially have any Chrome parts unlike Takara's Premium mold. The MP-04 trailer was covered with styrene to emulate an actual truck better. Only the autobot logo from the original trailer remained. Flames that matched Optimus Prime were painted on the exterior and the internal compartment was dry brushed with silver and detailed accordingly. The upper, front and rear ends of the trailer were given a post and pre-shading treatment for a weathered look. The repair dock was painted in a metallic blue shade. The Mp-02 Commander Set was repainted to match Optimus Prime's colour scheme as the original colour was meant for Ultra Magnus. The TFC-EX002 was given a chromy metallic blue finish as well as a pair of articulated fists that holds an additional weapon. His joints have been tighten for more stability as compared to the vanilla version."

I never get tired of seeing customizers pay homage to the great leader of the Decepticons and jcartwork does an excellent job with his Custom Leader Class Transformers Movie Megatron figure. The shadowing and black washing on this figure is amazing and his technique makes the plastic cast a battle scared metallic look. The gold accents are in all the right places and add another dimension to the figure. Let's take a closer look at some of the fine detailing:

BoskoesToys continues to amaze me with thier creations. This week, they bring us a Leader Class style Custom Transformers Galvatron figure that stands over 9" tall. Tricking out the Energon Megatron figure to the max, this Galvatron pays a nice homage to its G1 counterpart with the nice shades of purple and oranges. Rather than describe the transformation process, they included a video to demonstrate:

"Insanely detailed realistic-movie accurate paint job" is the only way to describe Boskoestoys latest masterpiece. This Custom Transformers Movie Leader Class Megatron ranks on the top of my list as one of the best movie versions I have seen to date. The paint aps are so accurate and applied in such a way that the figure looks like metal. Check out all of the detail that went into this awesome Megatron:
"Next the Blue LED eyes- the biggest problem with movie Megs is that his eyes didn't light up. We fixed the problem by installing a tiny blue LED system in his head. The whole light system is contained in the head and works on a push putton. Push it once and it goes on a pulse. push it again and it stobes, push it a third time and give Megatron a steady glowing blue gaze- finally push it a forth time to turn it off. The LED system runs on 4 small watch bateries, and they are replaceable infact we'll include a spare set. The head mod doesn't change up any of Megatrons transformation, and aestheticallty is very discret. Claw fix- We fixed it so it shoots out when you push the button. Fushion Cannon Fix- Removed the spring so you can just flip it open and it stays that way until you fold it back in. Fairy wings- We didn't remove them 'cause we like'em. If you win this custom but want them removed they're as good as gone."
I would highly suggest that you head over to eBay to check out all of the great pictures of Boskoestoys' Custom Transformers Movie Leader Class Megatron figure.
Sometimes you have to sacrifice an aspect of a figure to make a truly amazing design. Encline Designs did what needed to be done and created a work of art with his Custom 15" Transformers Movie Optimus Prime figure. To pay great homage to Optimus, he had to make a non transforming Transformer but the end result is unreal. Scale is one aspect that Hasbro has grappled with ever since they started producing toys but it is customizers like this show them how the proper scale can really add a tremendous amount of value to the design. Capturing the grit and mechanics of the movie, Encline Designs balances emotion with realism. Let's read more about what inspired this amazing figure:
Hello fellow Transfans and collectors. Have you found all your movie Primes lacking something? I thought Hasbro really broke some new ground with the Transformers movie toys. Leader Prime is great. But, he is lacking one thing. SIZE!!!!! Up for auction is my scratch built 15" MOVIE OPTIMUS PRIME. He was scratch built and made from a number of figures, spare parts, and even styrene for parts I had to create. He does not transform. But, with out transforming, I was able to add a bit more to get the bot I wanted. I built him how I want him to be. He has various truck parts for body parts. I built him from the inside out. I airbrushed the truck body with a mix of red and copper pearl, then faded from back to front with a red candy. The blue is a mixture of blue, purple pearl, and silver. I then hand pinstriped the flames. I then did multiple brushing techniques for fine details. He has been painted with automotive paint and clear coated. I also added some damage and hieroglyphs to his face.He has about 30 points os articulation including his waist and chest. His head, shoulders, and wrists are on ball joints. One of my favorite shots in Transformers in after Prime rips the top off of the Sector 7 Escalade and we are looking up at Prime and you seethe silhouette with the headlights shinning. So, I installed a battery pack inside that runs off of 2 AAA batteries. The pack lights up the headlights, eyes, and yes, THE MATRIX OF LEADERSHIP!! This guy was built for a collector. I have taken great care in construction to make him safe to pose with careful adjustments.
As I said earlier, the scale of this figure is awesome so head over to eBay and check our more photos of this Custom 15" Transformers Movie Optimus Prime figure!
Crefigz, in another one of his signature shading jobs, has created a Megatron that will make fans drool over. This Custom Transformers 2008 Movie Megatronhas to make the execs over at Hasbro cringe when they see great work like this and it is a shame that they can't make toys as good this but then again, customizing is an art form so I would not want them to make figures this good. I still love a good Megatron and this is one of the best. For more photos and to own this awesome piece, head over to eBay and place a bid for Crefigz's Custom Transformers 2008 Movie Megatron or check out the other Custom Transformers while you are there.
BoskoesToys puts their spin on what they think Scourge would like if he appeared in the upcoming Transformers 2, Revenge of the Fallen movie with their Custom Leader Class Sourge Transformers Movie figure. One thing that sets this apart from other Scourge customs I have seen are the awesome flame effects (take a look below)
These effects are very realistic and add another dimension to the figure. Imagine if Scourge ever met The Falllen and you have BoskoesToys version! There are many more pictures to view so head over to eBay and check out this Custom Leader Class Sourge Transformers Movie figure or check out the other Custom Transformers figures while you are there.
Last week, I wrote about Sabrina Ng's Custom Transformers G1 Optimus Prime but unfortunately the auction ended without any bidders so it is back on eBay with a new pricing strategy and a new addition to the custom (pictured above). To see more pictures, check out Sabrina's Custom Optimus Prime G1 Transformers Movie figure.
Sabrina Ng has taken the Premium Leader Class Prime a step up and made it her own with her Custom Transformers Leader Class Movie Optimus Prime figure in Generation 1 style. It is really great when customizers go back to the G1 roots. The way this custom was painted gives it a metallic look that only a true artist can achieve. The truck actually looks like it has rivets in it. The color red is a very nice and richer than I have seen in most custom Prime's but the color goes well with the figure. Here is how Sabrina made this work of art:
"I've airbrushed, painted, dry brushed, weathered and highlighted the entire figure to be as realistic as possible!!! Well, let's see. After washed and dry, I gave him a coat of primer followed by a base coat of steel and gold. Anyway, I then gave him a nice overall chrome silver coating as well as 2 layers of gloss coat before I started on his primary colours of specially mixed red and blue paint. MP-01 had a chilli red colour scheme but I felt that it was too common and doesn't do this figure justice. Thus, I settled on a more intense shade of red and blue to give him a deeper character. Body parts were painted with a shade of silver and dry brushed for the steel effect. After all was done, I gave him another layer of gloss coat to seal in the paint before I started on doing some weathering and detailing for him. Before I ended the job, I gave him a glossy UV protection coat to prevent the colour from fading over the years. The end result, an ultimate work of art."

In the most anticipated movie of 2007, CREG Customs' recreates the Transformers Movie version of Optimus Prime in the most detailed, realistic custom I have seen to date. Through advances in CGI, Optimus Prime was able to exhibit emotion in the movie with various facial and mechanical expressions. To achieve emotion, the eyes and mouth are typically manipulated so that human emotions are mimicked, giving Optimus a persona that the 1980's cartoon could never achieve. That is one thing to capture that emotion for a multi million dollar movie but it is equally as difficult to capture feelings through sculpting a toy. Not only does this figure have amazing detail, CREG captures the raw emotions of Optimus with two types of custom heads: one with a mouth guard and one without. The head without the guard, really does a great job at capturing various looks of Optimus and, depending what angle you look at him, the figure will appear to exibit different emotions.
Bid on CREG's Custom Transformers Leader Class Optimus Prime today for your chance to own one of the best Prime's I have seen!
Chih is heating up the Transformers category with his Custom Megatron Transformers Movie figure. I don't know if this is a coincidence or not but I have seen a decrease in Transformers customs with the introduction of the Premium Series Transformers. I must say, the Premium Series is a slight improvement to the figure line but they do not hold a candle to the talent, craftsmanship, and artistic ability of the customizers out there and Chih ranks very high on my list of people that consistently create quality pieces for the fans out there.
For toy companies, it would seem like a simple task: Create a figure that comes close to their movie likeness. I guess that was what they were trying to achieve with the Premium Series line but they have to realize that they need to up the quality of the figures if they are to compete. Fans are growing tired of repaints and poor quality figures and that is where customizers fill the gap. Chih's Custom Megatron is a great example of Megatron was supposed to look. A very nice silver with bronze accents gives this figure that war torn battled look that the original toys were lacking. Chih's Custom Transformers Movie Leader Class Megatron figure is available on eBay so head over and place your bid now!
l.designs is showing his diverse talent with his Custom Transformers Leader Class Brawl Movie figure. One of things I really like about this Brawl is the depth that this figure has with l.design's paint ap technique. The camo art is very well done and the tank looks down and dirty. The blackwashing on the figure gives it a realistic feel and the mud on the tank treads makes it look like Brawl has traveled a long way to open a can of whoop ass on some unsuspecting Autobots. Let's get some more insight on how this Brawl was made:
"A lot of time and attention to detail went into making this as accurate as possible to available reference material I could dig up, but of course has my spin on it as usual. I started out in tank mode and took the approach of a real war worn tank. After creating a factory finish paint job from top to bottom I weathered this sucker as accurate as possible. The wheels were rusted a bit, then shined back up where it would naturally rub and thus be polished from use. Finally touches of mud were caked on top of that. The tracks themselves have dirt in the crevices, but then the exposed portion that would be rolling along several types of terrain have been scratched into a slightly polished look. All hinges and areas around hatches and edges and what not have a weathered metal look as the paint would be worn from these areas as well. There is soot stain across the paint job from years of battle and use as well as scratch marks here and there. The robot mode has had much the same treatment, with several types of metallic paint to give real depth to the metal areas."

Last week I featured frenzy.rumble's Custom Transformers Ultra Magnus where he left us with a teaser as to the mystery addition to his Ultra Magnus. The wait is over (and the auction) so check out frenzy.rumble's complete Custom Transformers Ultra Magnus in all his glory.
From the creative mind and hands of frenzy.rumble comes his one of a kind Custom Transformers Ultra Magnus. Taking a Leader Class Optimus Prime as the base of this figure, frenzy.rumble has created a truley unique custom and is in a class by itself. To be honest, I was speachless when I saw this custom you will see why in the coming photos and description. To kick it off, I will let frenzy.rumble do the honors:
"This auction is for the leader class Autobot Ultra Magnus, which stands about 12" tall in robot mode. Created entirely from my imagination. Every single wire, detail, screw and millimeter has been carefully and perfectly detailed."
Every aspect of this custom is amazing and from what frenzy.rumble has disclosed about the paint aps it must be bullet proof (8 layers + 3 coats of lacquer). I will first start off by commenting on the 'Magnus' robot, which is blue and white (pictured above). This is one of the best looking metallic paint jobs I have come accross and the blues and whites really pop, creating a cohesive looking color scheme for the base of Ultra Magnus. In truck mode, I love the huge silver Autobot symbol screams louder than a semi's horn and is a great addition to the base Magnus figure. In his own words, he describes how the base is made:
"I built this custom starting with a leader class Optimus Prime, which I completely took apart, removed any factory paint, and primed with plastic primer, which provides a very durable protective under paint. All paint you see is 100% enamel. It's harder, and more durable than the customs you'll see painted in acrylic. Also, enamel paints are 'color-fast' meaning they will retain their original color for 10+ years, where-as acrylics typically fade after 2-3 years. The white paint used here is 8 layers thick including 3 layers of lacquer (clear coats) producing an INCREDIBLE shine (it's even waxable with car polish). The first robot you see (in only blue/white) is called "Magnus." The silver metal robot parts on him were painted in 6 shades of silver, to give the ultimate metallic look. This was done for the blue areas also."
To turn Magnus into Ultra Magnus, frenzy.rumble has outfitted this Autobot with custom armor and has armed him to the teeth! Anyone could have stopped at this point and called it good with an Optimus repaint but frenzy.rumble has taken it to the next level.
The custom head sculpt and armor are what makes this custom unique and why this should be the Ultra Magnus to add to your collection. By donning the armor and head, the former Magnus figure takes on a totally new look and a bad ass persona. This is one of my favorite customs to date and to let us in on more detail, here is frenzy.rumble:
"Armored Ultra Magnus: This mother is armed to the teeth. There's enough firepower on him to melt the decepticon army in a few blasts. All armor seen, was created using spare and extra parts from other transformers and action figures. The armor actually snaps or is magnetically attached to the base figure. His smokestacks were actually made from a woman's make-up applicator! The gun (shown in one of the last photos) actually winds up moves. The custom head was made from spare ZOIDS parts and a knock-off Transformer, and sits magnetically on the neck base."
"To make Magnus into Ultra Magnus, you'd need to actually perform a 3rd one-of-a-kind transformation (which I will provide to the winner)."
Ever since I saw Chih's Custom Transformers Nemsis Prime the first time, I have always been meaning to write about it. One thing that draws me to Chih's Customs is his mastery skill at the paint aps and the gobs of weapons he makes for each one, which reminds me of one of my favorite lines from the 2007 Transformers Movie when Simmons says, "Big guys with big guns." Chih is not afraid to arm his customs to the teeth with weapons galore that look like they really belong with the figure. The guns are really well made and crafted with intricate details that set them apart from each other.
Besides a great paint job on the figure, I really like the smaller details that are missing from some Nemesis Prime customs. For example, I dig the Decepticon mudflaps! If you are looking quickly at this figure you will miss them but I had to do a double take but it is this kind of attention to detail that makes Chih's customs special. The combination Prime/Decepticon Symbol is a nice touch as well and completes the tanker, which, again, is missing from most Nemesis Prime customs.

boskoestoys went above and beyond the call of duty and really delivered something out of this world with thier Custom Transformers Movie Blackout Leader Class Ultimate Edition! They informed me that they had one in the works a few weeks ago and I have been waiting for this day. First off, the scale is huge! Check out the regular Blackout next to this one and you will soon see exactly how large this Transformers is. Hasbro take notes! Second, the Movie accurate paint job is another reason to be the sole owner of this one of a kind custom, which, will not be reproduced again so you will be getting a 1/1 steller custom from boskoestoys. A couple other noteworth features includes the original headsculpt, which is very accurate to the movie and the super poseability of the figure allows you to pose Blackout in several natural positions.
Head over to eBay and check out more pictures of boskoestoys Custom Transformers Movie Blackout Leader Class Ultimate Edition and I would also suggest adding this customizer to your favorite sellers as he does amazing work! I have highlighted some of the details from the auciton, which you can find below. Two months of work was poured into this amazing piece of work! boskoestoys goes on to explain:
Conception of the idea
We waited, and waited to do this figure thinking Hasbro might come out with one, especially after the late arrival of a "Leader class Brawl". But with the movie buzz dyin' down, and Hasbro halting production on Transformer movie toys, it looked like it was up to us.In our opinion not makin' a Leader Class BLACKOUT was one of the biggest oversights in toy makin' history, and to us just shows how outta touch big toy companies are with their fan base.
Enter Boskoes Toys "exclusive", custom LEADER CLASS BLACKOUT Transformers movie figure. First we'll get to his size. He's actually more like an "ULTIMATE CLASS", measuring 2 FEET long in helicopter mode, and almost 13 inches tall in robot mode (not including propeller attachment, which makes him even bigger)
- Ultra realistic "movie accurate" pant job
- We did have to simplify his Transformation process a bit, but there's still plenty of transformation happening here. His legs spin backward, and filled up underneath him. His legs are very articulated, and bend several places, including swivel at the hips allowing some cool "dynamic" poses
- The tail piece of the copter detaches using a very sturdy "click in" system. The tail piece also holds a hidden sound FX (lasers, and copter sound)
His arms which fold back and act as his side bars in Helicopter Mode, fold down, and have a wide range of motion
- Sidebar covers fold out in Robot Mode to reveal large missile
- Large Propeller from Helicopter detaches, and can be attached to BLACKOUTS back in robot mode
- Top turret can be swapped with included BLUE LED search light
- Blackouts head, which is an original "more accurate sculpt" is removed while in Helicopter mode (whirls on a sturdy ball and socket system), and can be stored in a small custom Transformers case
- Blackout comes with three different exchangeable weapons (rifle, propeller gun, and claw missile launcher)
- Back propeller can be removed and popped into the front of BLACKOUT large gun to create to propeller gun
- BLACKOUTS hands are articulated and can be opened and closed
- BLACKOUT comes with 3 Army soldiers and cargo gear (two fit inside the cockpit)
- Revoltech G1 Optimus prime is included incase you wanna create a "trick scale" for display
- We use the Gold standard in paints and Apoxy, Aves, Testors, and Reaper
- Our figures are super sturdy, and the paint is very durable
chih has come back this week with a force and brings us a very unique Custom Transformer that he has called Menasor. I was lucky enough to chat with chih and he explained the inspiration for creating a warrior figure, which came from movies like Gladiator, Lord of the Rings, and 300. He goes on to explain, "Menasor has tremendous strength, his armor is nearly impervious to all but the most powerful artillery, so why not add more armor & weapons to make it look like a Gladiator style Super Warrior. I added the shield & the battering ram from GJ Joe-Law Enforcement "LOCKDOWN." I added 1 more gun and put it on the back of the shoulder, the gun is from GI Joe-COBRA Weapons Expert "CRIME BOSS DESTRO." I Love to use weapons from GI Joe on the Leader Class Transformers, a perfect fit and looks really cool."
