Runabout and Runamuck Custom Transformers Alternators

Xaviercal has a great duo for this week with his Custom Transformers Alerantors Runabout and Runamuck figures.  Using the Dodge Viper Sunstreaker as the base for the figure, he has made two G1 classic figures.  When I first looked at these figures, one thing that struck me was that the paint application is so smooth and even.  Top the figures off with their G1 style heads and you have an up to date Alternators version of two mischievous Decepticons.  To check out more photos of these great figures, head over to eBay and check out Xaviercal’s Custom Transformers Alerantors Runabout and Runamuck figures.

Superion Custom G1 Transformer Combiner

The great thing about customizers is that they are all unique and have thier own style and Sioce is no exception with his Custom G1 Transformers Superion figure.  One of my issues with the original G1 combiner was that the figure seemed to slim and skinny and Sioce has corrected this by making this figure the way it should have been produced.  While still retaining the G1 color scheme, Sioce has augmented this figure blades, weapons, and the use of the smaller jets to augment the arms, giving the figure a more grand appearance!  To check out more photos of this awesome combiner, head over to eBay and check out Sioce’s Custom G1 Transformers Superion figure.

Bruticus Transformers G1 Custom

DarkCaveCustoms has the ultimate homage to the one of the greatest combiners in Transformers history with his Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Bruticus combiner.  One of the aspects of this customs that really stands out are the vibrant colors that were used and the fact that the figure stands a towering 21″ tall.  The plastic on the figure was painted to look like steel, which adds depth to the figure.  DarkCaveCustoms had an ingenious idea of using all of the extra parts that fuse the bots into Bruticus and turn them into a Mobile Battle Station, which you can take a look at over eBay by checking out this awesome Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Bruticus combiner.

Custom Transformers Generation 1 Insecticons

Custom Transformers Generation 1 Insecticons

Adding his “midis touch” to the commemorative edition G1 Insecticons, Frenzy.Rumble has his Custom Transformers G1 Insecticons up for sale this week.  I actually just came across my G1 Kickback, which is one of the few original Transformers I owned as a kid.  The rest I had to buy back from other people selling their collections on eBay but it is great to see customizers paying homage to the G1 classics.  Frenzy.Rumble always pours top quality into his customs so let’s get some insight into his mind and how he creates these masterpieces:

“One of the coolest things I’ve seen is the re-release of Generation 1 figures, specific to certain stores called the “Commemorative Edition.” These sets celebrate the Transformers 25 years. One of the coolest sets I read about was the Insecticons, who didn’t like these as a kid? I think it was the only complete set I owned. Remembering the limited articulation and factory paint applications, I thought it would be an awesome idea to go to town with these little bugs. Please read the detailed list below to hear about some of the modifications made to each Insecticon. All paints used in the process were lacquer and enamel, so the finish is very durable, and the colors will stay vibrant and true for many many years. (Keep in mind, this is a collectible, so don’t throw it around!)  I finished him off with several finishes of Testor’s clear coats, matte, semi-gloss, and gloss variations to keep the colors vibrant and true for years and years …always through an air brush to ensure thin, even perfect coats. I ensure the highest and most durable paint applications on all my customs. I exceed necessary preparation to these customs – Special plastic adhering primers, automotive grade lacquers and the best paints around to detail with.  As always, I am accepting VERY LIMITED custom commissions and/or requests. Check out my website or contact me through ebay for details. Some ball joints were dyed in black dye to eliminate scraping and rubbing issues.”

“Cliffjumper was painted with Testors Model Master enamel paints. He comes complete with WORKING LEDs in his eyes, tail lights and head lights. All are controlled with small switches. Batteries which power these lights are easily replacable. Custom made “Make-A-Wish license plate.”

Bumblebee G1 Custom Transformers Figure

Bumblebee G1 Custom Transformers Figure

Ark Autobot Charity Auction for the Make a Wish Foundation Spotlight: Bumblebee (Article 9 of 11)

One thing that struck me about Payton34’s custom Bumblebee figure for the Ark Autobot collection for charity was the shade of yellow for Bumblebee, which matches exactly to the G1 figure from the 1980’s.  Here is more about how he painted this great figure:

“I used Model Master bright yellow spray enamel to give the outer shell a more accurate color scheme. After that, I used Testors Flat Black Noir Mat for the bumper/fender areas as well as the arms/fists; Testors Flat White Blanc Mat for the headlights; Testors Red Rouge for the tail lights. Finally, I used Liquid Leaf Silver Argent for the metallic areas and topped it all off with a layer of Model Master Ultra Gloss Clearcoat”

This is another awesome custom for the Ark Autobot collection so be sure to place your bid as all proceeds go to the Make a Wish Foundation.

As part of the Ark Autobot collection for Charity, Thyvipera has custom painted a Transformers Classics Mirage to look more like the G1 figure from the 1980’s.  Given the popularity of NASCAR, I wonder if they made Mirage today, would it be a stock car?  According to Thyvipera, “Mirage was painted using Krylon Fusion paints and airbrushed with Tamiya and Testors. He is detailed using Testor’s enamels and clear coated for protection from damage and UV light.”  Thyvipera makes some awesome customs so be sure to check out this and other customs from him.

Jazz G1 Custom Transformers Figure

Ark Autobot Charity Auction for the Make a Wish Foundation Spotlight: Jazz (Article 4 of 11)

Next Autobot from the Ark Autobot charity auction is Jazz, which was designed and created by Encline Designs.  Talk about starting from scratch on this one.  Using a Transformers Universe Prowl figure as the base, he took a model kit and, as he called it, “re-shelled” the figure into Jazz.  Let’s read more about this figure and how it was made from Encline Designs himself:

“When I took on the responsibility to make a Jazz, I had no idea I
would do what I did. The problem with making a great Jazz figure is
the fact that there are not really any good TFs to make in to a Jazz.
So, after thinking hard and drinking a lot of rum (just kidding, I
didn’t think) I had the idea to do a “re-shell”. I wanted an updated
version of Jazz to fit in the the rest of the updated TFs in the
auction. I search a good while and found a 1/35 PORSCHE 911 GTI La
Mans slot car plastic model! I used a universe Prowl figure as the
skeleton and totally dismantled the figure to get it that way! I then
had to measure, cut, dremel, grind, glue, cut, drink, yell, dremel
some more until it all fell into place. After Jazz was constructed, I
base coated him using PPG automotive urethane white with a PURPLE
PASSION Pearl on top of that. I felt, as Jazz was a race car, he
should have his sponsors on the car. So I added all the artists names
that are a part of this auction along with the appropriate racing
stripes for Jazz!  He was clear coated with PPG Automotive urethane
clear coat for the best shine possible. The head is a custom head that
I got from a fellow artist. This custom here now has me hooked on re-
shelling and I look forward to the next ones!!”

Hound G1 Custom Transformers Figure

Hound G1 Custom Transformers Figure

Ark Autobot Charity Auction for the Make a Wish Foundation Spotlight: Hound (Article 3 of 11)

I first came across Encline Designs back in 2008 and I was struck by the creativity and talent that this customer possessed.  As part of the Ark Autobot Charity Auction, Encline has made this Custom Transformers G1 Hound figure.  I really like the muddy look to the figure and the addition of the military decals.  As Encline stated, he is a former Jeep owner and his jeep was never showroom shine clean so he decided to dirty it up.  This is another awesome figure from the Ark Autobot collection for charity!

Encline Designs wanted to personally share his thoughts on the Custom G1 Hound that he made so let’s read what he has to say:

“I wanted to capture the essence of the G1 hound with he up to date
style of the new Universe figure. The mod I did to make the most
difference was I added a grill from a 1/35 Jeep Willy model kit. That
way it has the old grill and headlights of the Jeep we all know and
love. He was base coated with House of Kolor Kustom Kolor enamels and
I added military decals from the same 1/35 model kit. I airbrushed the
thighs with ALSA MIRROR CHROME like the G1 toy has also.To give a
little nod to the original Japanese Transformers, I decided it would
be cool to add the  “Convoy Commander”  to the hood. Also, being a
former Jeep owner and lover, when is a Jeep ever clean?! I airbrushed
mud and dirt splatter in the appropriate places.”

The focus of today’s Ark Autobot collection is Wheeljack created by Big Hank.  Part of a massive collaboration effort with 7 other customizers, Big Hank has created this Wheeljack figure using Transformers Universe Sideswipe as the base.  An effect that is not Photoshop’d, which you can see above, is that he has working LED lights in his eyes and headlights, which are controlled by a small switch on his roof.  Like Sunstreaker, Wheeljack also has a custom license plate which says “Male a Wish.”  This is another awesome G1 Autobot from this massive collection for charity.

Scourge Masterpiece Custom G1 Transformers Kitbash by JAF

Masterpiece Scourge Custom G1 Transformers Figure

Masterpiece Scourge Custom G1 Transformers Figure

JAF has outdone himself with his latest Custom Masterpiece Generation 1 Scourge figure.  This figure was originally designed for the “Create the Ultimate Scourge” challenge and here to tell you more about this figure is JAF himself:

“The goal was to create a cartoon accurate, manga styled Scourge with realistic details and mechanicals.  A bit of gothic/demon style was thrown in also. The figure is Masterpiece scale, meaning that it stands just about as tall as MP Starscream and is FULLY articulated.  Great effort went into providing interesting details and working joints and mechanicals. The hovercraft is almost entirely scratchbuilt from styrene and the robot body was created from an alternators sideswipe, Gundam Kamfer 1/100 scale action figure model kit, and more scratchbuilt parts. The hands were custom casted by TomServo.  The figure is fully transformable and is also fully articulated with over 25 joints on the robot alone. The wings are also posable in bot mode – reminiscent of the cartoon and manga artwork. Quality enamel paints were used to detail and finish this custom. Realistic weathering and staining has been applied in places and decals have been applied for further effect.”

I am really impressed with the accurateness of this figure, the colors, and painstaking detail that must have gone into making him.  The head is my favorite part of this custom as he had to recreate Scourge’s Foo Manchu, adding human characteristics to this massive robot.  The purpose of kitbashing is to obtain something that can’t be bought, to improve upon a figure, or simply to engage in a refreshing exercise of creativity and JAF has definitely let his creative side show and created some magnificent.  Lucky for the readers of this blog, JAF’s Custom Masterpiece Generation 1 Scourge figure is available for sale on eBay so head over there and place a bid!

Custom Toxic Zombie Jetfire

Halloween brings out another side in customers.  I am used to seeing the Marvel Legends figures done up Zombie style but this is the first Transformers figure I have seen done this way and I have to say I am liking it!  To commemorate Halloween 2009, Frenzy.Rumble has created this one of a kind Custom Toxic Zombie Transformers Jetfire figure.  What you are seeing in the photo above is not an optical illusion but a “special mix of paint and micoscopic beads to create the ‘toxic slime’ effect” that glows in the dark.  This figure looks awesome in robot mode as well so if you want to view more photos, head over to eBay and check out Frenzy.Rumble’s Custom Toxic Zombie Transformers Jetfire figure.

Red Alert Custom G1 Revenge of the Fallen Transformers Figure

Red Alert Custom G1 Revenge of the Fallen Transformers Figure

If you think back, Red Alert was one of those classic G1 figures that you will always remember and associate with the carefree times of the 80’s.  Hunter Knight Customs has made a version of this figure from a ROTF Sideswipe figure with his Custom Generation 1 Red Alert Revenge of the Fallen figure.  With some of the figures in the ROTF line, I really liked the different ways that they moved around.  For example, the Sideswipe figure rolls around as if on Rollerblades and Demolisher was more like a destructive unicycle as he tore about the city.  I love the use of the Sideswipe mold here and the detail pays a nice homage to the Red Alert figure from the past.  Head over to eBay and check out more photos of Hunter Knight Customs’ Custom Generation 1 Red Alert Revenge of the Fallen figure.

Defstar has created the mother of all G1 Transformers with his Custom Generation 1 Metroplex that was made from a Brave Maximus figure.  This bohemoth stands a towering 24″ tall and the figure pays a really nice homage to the G1 classic figure we loved as kids.  I am really impressed with Defstar’s ability to retain the look and feel of Metroplex on this big of a scale.  Another amazing aspect of this figure is that it transformers into an Autobot base:

Bruticus Custom G1 Transformers Combiner

Bruticus Custom G1 Transformers Combiner

Toyphilia is kickin it old school with a grand scale with his Custom Generation 1 Transformers Bruticus combiner.   Standing a towering 20″ tall, this figure is ready to do some serious damage.  Some of my favorite parts of this custom are the head and the colors used to detail the figure.  First, the head really sets this apart from other Bruticus figures I have seen because there is so much detail and depth to the face.  If you remember the G1 figure, the head was very boxy and Toyphilia did a really great job taking the look and feel to the next level.  The colors used on this figure remind me of the G1 classic figure while still retaining an updated vibe to it.  To place a bid on Toyphilia’s Custom Generation 1 Transformers Bruticus combiner, head over to eBay!

Menasor Custom Generation 1 Transformers Combiner by Sabrina Ng & Thyvipera

Tags: , , , ,

Menasor Transformers G1 Custom2 generation 1 transformers

You don’t see this very often but when two customizers collaborate and put their skills together, there can only be a great result.  Sabrina Ng’s metallic paint skills and Thyvipera’s engineering join forces to create this Custom Transformers G1 Menasor Combiner.  This figure is stunning!  What I like about Sabrina and Thyvipera is they give credit where credit is due and they call out some great customizers as inspiration:

I’m honestly very tempted to even call this a Henkei Version of Menasor. But before I continue further, credit must be given to those that have embarked on similar projects before. Some of them include Frenzy_Rumble, Ptitvite, Malfunction, Crefigz among the many talented artists out there. This custom colloboration is the product of Thyvipera’s engineering as well as my metallic paint applications. Menasor consists of the 5 Stunticons. Each Stunticon has been lovingy customized to perfection. Without further ado, let me elaborate on some of the more interesting mods done to the figure.

Head over to eBay and check out Sabrina’s and Thyvipera’s Custom Transformers G1 Menasor Combiner.

Devastator G1 Revenge of the Fallen Transformers Custom by Xaviercal

Devastator Revenge of the Fallen Transformers Custom generation 1 transformers

There is something nostalgic about the G1 Devastator color scheme.  Maybe it is because I remember crying myself to sleep on the floor of my parents bedroom when I was a little kid because they would not take me the toy store to get one but that is beside the point.  It also could be because it was just a cool combiner that we all grew up with so I am going with that for now.  Xaviercal captured this feeling with his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Generation 1 Devastator figure.  I love the one unifying color scheme of this figure.  The original figure has way too many colors, which mutes the overall look but Xaviercal has managed to capture that 1980’s classic nature while applying a consistent color pallet that makes the individual parts stand out.

DEVASTATOR34 generation 1 transformers

This is a great figure and if you want to check out more photos, head over to eBay and check out Xaviercal’s  Revenge of the Fallen Generation 1 Devastator figure.

Custom Devastator G1 Transformers generation 1 transformers

MalsMasterpieces knows how to do the G1 combiners right with his Custom Generation 1 Devastator figure that stands a towering 16″ tall.  This figure is how it should be done as he tried to get as close to the classic figure as he could.  There is something unique about this figure but I will let him tell you about it:

“What’s the best way to prevent a painted custom from scratching and chipping?  Don’t use any paint! Featuring the color matched plastics DEVASTATOR.  I tried to use only pieces that matched the entire color scheme of the original classic from the 80’s.  However, the difficulty of creating such a figure includes finding and making sure the pieces matched as well as functioned properly.  There are a few pieces I had to paint because they did not come in alternative colors.  For example, Mixmaster is heavily modified and none of his parts came in green he is partially painted.  The only other pieces which received paint were the forearms, upper shins, knees, and devastator head.  Also, every cut and hole drilled had to be perfect because there was no hiding the fabrications with paint. The goal was to make it look so clean like it came right out of a transformers box.  So if your looking for a custom you can play with, without the fear of damaging the paint then this 1 of a kind custom might be the custom transformer you’ve been looking for.”

If you want to own a figure you will never see in the store, head over to eBay and check out MalMasterpieces’ Custom Generation 1 Devastator figure.

G1 Transformers Custom Menasor Figure by Malsmasterpieces

Tags: , , , ,

Menasor G1 Transformers Custom generation 1 transformers

Malsmasterpieces has created a behemoth of a combiner from the 80’s with his Custom G1 Transformers Menasor figure.  This beast stands a towering 16″ tall and one of his goals with creating this figure was to make this feel more G1 than the original:

I don’t have to tell you who this character is, some of us had him growing up or if you were like me, we wish we did. Menasor was one of the first combiners of the animated series back in 1984. Unfortunately 25 years later, all takara Hasbro could give us was a repainted classics mirage and called it dragstrip from the stunticons. I have now faced the fact that Hasbro/takara will never release figures respectable enough to call menasor. So I decided its time to bring back the rest of the Stunticons and bring Menasor to life and create this custom one of a kind transforming sculpture. My masterpiece of a combiner, not because of its closeness to g1 specs but because I used pieces of the transformers masterpiece, classics, and even generation 1 line to create him. He is made up of some die cast pieces, more articulation points that ratchet and click durably like figures from masterpiece line. A lot of planning and engineering went into this figure and only the finest and most durable enamels went into painting this figure to match the color scheme of the original back in the 80’s. If you have the original one back from the 80’s your going to love this one. Twice as big, twice as cool, and a million times more rare than the original. Again the goal was to be more G1 than the G1 versions from the 80’s

I love when custmizers do combiners as they are always great so head over to eBay and check out this Custom G1 Transformers Menasor figure.

Leader Class Megatron G1 Revenge of the Fallen Custom by Xaviercal

Leader Class Megatron ROTF Custom generation 1 transformers

Xaviercal is kickin’ it G1 style with his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Megatron in Generation 1 color scheme.  The way he painted this figure makes the parts stand out.  For example, the tank treads and the gun are so muted in the original figure because everything is the same color.  By adding black, red, and gold accents to the figure, it helps to bring out the classic nature of the figure and remind us of the Megatron that we grew up with.  The red accents really define the sections of the figure and call attention to the arms and legs.  You will also notice the absence of the toothpick arm on the original figure as he gave Megatron two new arms, which go well with the figure and make Megatron more menacing as he looked kind of pathetic with a thin arm.  If you want to check out more photos, head over to eBay and see Xaviercal’s Custom Revenge of the Fallen Megatron figure.

I was very happy to see that Omega Supreme was given some air time in the Transformers Animated series.  Anemis007 has brought this icon to life with his Custom Transformers Animated Series Omega Supreme figure.  The colors really capture the G1 nature of the figure and the scale is a great size, standing 13.5 inches tall.  I am not sure if they will be making one of these figures or not but you can own it now by heading over to eBay!

Mirage Transformers G1 Masterpiece Custom generation 1 transformers

It is unfortunate circumstances that collectors must sell their most prized possessions and that is why it pains me to write this article as the owner of this custom has fallen on some hard times.  This Custom Transformers Masterpiece Mirage figure is simply amazing.  Fashioned after his G1 counterpart, this Mirage was kitbash of several different Alternators and end result was a classic figure that will fit nicely with the Masterpiece line.  To learn more about this great custom, let’s hear from the seller, gclarks01:

“This custom was made by master customizer JAF.  It is a real Indy car Leiger Gitanes model kit altyered to Transform with several Alternator donors as Parts – Skids, Prime, and Sideswipe. He is very poseable!  The Gitanes on the side of alt mode is accurate to the real car. (That is the way the real cigarette name is spelled, hence the decals on the side), but I had JAF make custom “Citanes” ones for his spoiler/feet and his front spoiler, torso to be more G1 in robot mode where he really shines. You also get his custom Hunting Rifle and Shoulder Missle launcher.

Tracks G1 Transformers ROTF Custom generation 1 transformers

Let the Revenge of the Fallen customs begin!  There are a couple things that I love when a new movie comes out!  First, we get to see a whole new line of toys from the creators at the toy companies and, second, we get to see the awesome customs from creative people like Xaviercal with his Custom G1 Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Tracks figure.  Retaining the classic blue and the firebird symbol on the hood, this figure, made from a ROTF Sideswipe, is a great canvas for Tracks.  I am looking forward to the many ROTF customs to come and I have a feeling that there will be too many to keep up with so make sure you also check out the Transformers section as well to keep up with the latest.

Bruticus Custom G1 Transformers Universe Classic Combiner by Hangyodan

Bruticus G1 Transformers Custom generation 1 transformers

The G1 combiners are still some of my favorite Transformers and Hangyodan has created one of the most Generation 1 accurate customs I have seen to date with his Custom Transformers G1 Bruticus Combiner figure.  The detailing and the colors of this figure really capture the classic nature of 1980’s version.  My favorite aspects of this custom are the head and chest shield.  I like the head because it is a bit more streamlined than the original.  I always thought Bruticus has a fat head and Hangyodan has solved this issue with a longer, narrower head.  The chest plate is great because it is more grand than the original.  I like the way the chest plate extends further as this aspect makes the figure look like a great warrior.  To view more photos of this awesome figure, head over to eBay and check out Hangyodan’s Custom Transformers G1 Bruticus Combiner figure.

Runamuck Runabout Transformers Custom customizers

Frenzy.Rumble has a pair of Decepticon troublemakers up for sale this week with his Custom G1 Transformers Battle Chargers figures.  It is cool when customizers create figures that mean something to them because you know that extra care has gone into them to make them the very best they could be.  I am happy to see these two together in this auction because one would not look right without the other.  Let’s learn more about these cool figures from Frenzy.Rumble himself:

I customized these twins with a more modern spin. Both Runabout and Runamuck are included in this auction, as well as some great bonus items coming later this week. This mischievious Decepticon Battlecharger Duo is a must have for any Transformer fan. Some cool features of these figures include:

- Fully poseable “frenzyrumble” signature hands, in ball joints, giving proper articulation
- Metallic flake “iridecint” paints on their alt (car) modes….colors change and appear tinted to different hues when at certain angles
- Cast, one of a king, scratch-built heads

G1 Transformers Jazz Custom generation 1 transformers

Sam has revived an 80’s classic with his Custom Transformers G1 Jazz figure.  There are so many awesome features to this custom let’s get it right from source:

  • Customised front end to closer resemble Porsche 935 Turbo  that jazz is based on. Used wire grill, recessed the lights, completly reshaped the front
  • Custom built styrene rear spoiler! Large and flared, this is a lot closer than using the original spoiler that looks nothing like jazz’s.
  • Real Rubber tyres ! these rims were fitted so it could still roll, but have the real feel of rubber like the G1 type vehicles!
  • Built up and flared rear tyre guards to closer resemble the 935’s large back, and also to fit the wider tyres !
  • Scratch built head on a ball joint for full posablity, this head closely resembles the G1 Jazz and still fully transforms!
  • Custom Decals I made myself on my computer then applied, clearcoating in futures to help protect them! These took many hours to make from scratch! Logos such as ‘Martini’ and ‘Porsche’ applied in all the relevant areas.
  • Painted in Fusion white for durability. Citadels and clear coats were also used to help make it as durable as I could.
  • Recast weapons such as his famous shoulder-mounted Flame thrower! His rifle is also replicated, and theres more…
  • Custom made speakers that attach in car mode for his ‘light and sound’ attack!
  • Working grappling hook that fits into his hand in bot mode!

Devastator Custom Transformers G1 Combiner customizers

It is really great to see teamwork and I could not ask for two better people to put their skills to the test and collaborate to form one of the greatest customs I have seen.  Frenzy.Rumble and Sabrina Ng bring you their Custom Transformers Devastator G1 Combiner figure, which displays talents from both Frenzy.Rumble and Sabrina Ng.  Frenzy Rumble, with his sculpting and keen eye for design, combined with Sabrina Ng’s bullet proof paint aps, have created one of the most sought after customs I have seen in a long time.  I am struck by the attention to detail in the design of this Devastator and it looks like no aspect was left untouched.  Let’s read more about how this collaboration got started from Frenzy.Rumble:

“Blown away by the talented painting of fellow artist Sabrina Ng and her custom Transformer auctions, we got in contact with one another. We decided to collaborate our skills, talents, and passions to bring you this “Anniversary Edition” Devastator custom Transformer. It was built by me some time ago, and he was shipped and took a little vacation in Singapore. While there, Sabrina painted and gave him her magical touch. Devastator was then sent back the the United States where I did some minor engineering updates, installed the electronics and took his photos.”

To truly appreciate the fine details that went into this collaborative effort, head over to eBay and check out this amazing Custom Transformers Devastator G1 Combiner figure.

Menasor Transformers G1 Custom Combiner generation 1 transformers

I can’t get enough of combiners and Xaviercal has a one of my favorites up on eBay this week.  His Custom Transformers G1 Menasor figure is very well done and ranks very high in my mind with one of the best I have seen.  The design is very simple and I like that he did not go overboard with trying to make this custom have too many bells and whistles.  I like the fact that he used the windows on Motormaster as it keeps the figure from being bulky.  The colors on the figure are reminiscent of the G1 classic so head over to eBay and check out more photos of Xaviercal’s Custom Transformers G1 Menasor figure.

Devastator Generation 2 Transformers generation 1 transformers

Hot on the heels of his magnificant Custom Generation 1 Devastator, Defstar brings us his Custom Generation 2 Devastator figure.  The Generation 2 Devastor, in the 90’s, came out as a yellow and an organge version of green gestalt combiner that came out in 1985.  The yellow version was released in Europe and the orange was only available at KB Toys.  Defstar did a tremendous job blending both styles of the G2 constructicons and the G1 figures with his blend of orange, green, and yellow paint aps that capture the feel of the G2 line while paying homage to the G1 figures.

Xaviercal has taken Rollbar, an Alternator, and turned him into a Generation 1 classic that is the minibot Beachcomber that we all know and love.  I love the direction he took with his Custom Transformers Beachcomber as he did an excellent job with the modifications.  For example, he added larger buggy tires and a different front grill.  The G1 Beachcomber blue seals the classic nature of the figure and rounds out another great custom from Xaviercal.  If you are into the Alternators line, head over to eBay and check out this awesome Custom Transformers Beachcomber figure.

Devastator Generation 1 Transformers generation 1 transformers

Defstar is at it once again with his Custom Transformers G1 Devastator figure.  Going for a more Generation 1 feel, he has really captured the feel of the figure from the 1980’s.  With the cartoon head, it reminds me of the Devastator we grew to know and love.  Let’s hear more about this great figure from Defstar himself:

“Hello everyone…I return with yet another take on the great Transformer combiner Devastator (as some may remember my Universe Devastator from a little while back)…this time around I’m aiming to get even closer to the original look of the G1 version.  First I would like to mention the help I got from fellow TFW2005 member Ptitvite…I opted to use one of his Devastator head molds for this project…he’s very skilled at what he does and turns out quality work.  Devastator stands approx 14” tall and 9” wide…he is painted with a combination of quality sprays and acrylics and then coated with a very durable sealer…he has full rotation of his head and both shoulders…be bends 90 degrees at the elbows and knees…his fingers move as do his legs at the hip…waist has about 15 degrees movement in both directions.”

If you want to own this massive custom combiner, head over to eBay and bid on Defstar’s Custom Transformers G1 Devastator figure.

Bruticus Transformers Movie Custom uncategorized

Using the 2007 Transformers Movie line as the canvas for this combiner, Wats9876 has assembled an awesome group of Combaticons with his Custom Transformers Movie Bruticus Combiner figure.  Standing out in the forefront is Onslaught, which is made from a Leader Class Optimus Prime towing a set of twin canons.  If you look closely, those twin canons for the feet and tower over this figure to complete the look.  The colors really work well for this one as Bruticus’ G1 concept was full of dreary colors.  Wats9876 took some liberties with the choice of figures but this is a welcome change as it demonstrates creativity and a willingness to step outside of the proverbial box and do something new.  I like the Starscream as the right hand.  This was a great replacement for the old space shuttle the G1 figure had.  There are a ton more photos over at Wats9876’s auction page so head over to eBay and check out his Custom Transformers Movie Bruticus Combiner figure.

Menasor Transformers G1 Custom generation 1 transformers

Paying homage to the great Frenzy.Runble, MacrosFA-19 gives us his version of the towering Decepticon Stunticon combiner with his Custom G1 Transformers Menasor figure.  I love when customizers throw down and kitbash because the results are awesome and impressive.  The choice of figures for this combiner was nicely selected and the color choices for the figures pay a great homage to the 1980’s classic generation 1 Menasor.  Let’s hear more from MacrossFA-19 himself:

“This awesome combiner, inspired by Frenzy Rumble, stands at a towering 15 3/4″.  As tall as Unicrons and Primus, but perfectly fitting for the Transformers Classics line.  These Stunticons have been reformatted and repainted to fit in with the new Transformers Classics line.  Each one can still fully transform and can combine.  They have been carefully painted with quality durable Tamiya paints and overcoated with a matte finish to prevent color fading and chipping.”

There are a ton of photos over on Macros’ auction page so head over to eBay and check out his Custom G1 Transformers Menasor figure.

Cyclonus Transformers Universe 2 Custom generation 1 transformers

I really liked the Transformers Universe version of Cyclonus when it came out but TonyzCustoms has taken it back in time and to the next level with his Custom Transformers Universe 2 Cyclonus figure.  Paying homage to the Transformers Cartoon Movie from the 80’s and the concept art that is available for this figure, TonyzCustoms did an excellent job coming up with a paint ap that is very complimentary.  The contrasting purples work great with each other and highlights the features of the figure very well.  The figure also comes with Nightstick so better head over to eBay and check out TonyzCustoms Custom Transformers Universe 2 Cyclonus figure.

Hound Henkei Transformers Custom henkei transformers

Sixth in her series of Henkei figures, Sabrina Ng works her magic with one of my favorite G1 characters with her Custom Henkei Transformers Hound and Ravage figures.  Being a military history fan, I was drawn to Hound as he is a military jeep decked out in classic olive green, which Sabrina has captured quite nicely!  I love the additions of the gold stripes and modded fists, which puts a nice finishing touch on the figure.  Sabrina’s style makes plastic shine like a new car (although without the new car smell) so if you want a figure from one of the best, head over to eBay and check out her Custom Henkei Transformers Hound and Ravage figures.

Inferno Transformers Universe Custom 2 customizers

Frenzy.Rumble just made a great addition to his Custom Transformers Universe Inferno figure by adding the classic Generation 1 style ladder.  I don’t know why this was not part of the original design but it is customizers like Frenzy.Rumble that do the jobs the toy companies fail to do year after year.

Inferno Transformers Universe Custom customizers

Frenzy.Rumble has the ability to take a mediocre figure (at best) and turn it into a figure that you will want to have as the centerpiece of your collection.  The intricate detail to his Custom Transformers Universe Inferno figure must takes talent to transform the plastic into a  realistic looking fire truck and is a 1000% improvement to the Transformers Universe figure.  There are many subtleties to this figure and I like the way that he has made the tires realistic looking (if you remember the original figure, it had red rims) as well as the hoses, the lights, and bumpers.  It takes a lot of patience to do this work but as you can see it is very rewarding.  My favorite part of this custom is the Autobot symbol on the front, which for G1 fans, is how the original Inferno rolled!  To see more photos of this great custom, head over to eBay and check out Frenzy.Rumble’s Custom Transformers Universe Inferno figure.

Jetfire Henkei Transformers Custom henkei transformers

I have to say that Jetfire is my favorite Transformer of all time and Sabrina Ng has her third installment in her Henkei series with her Custom Transformers Henkei Jetfire figure.  The third time is the charm and the paint aps for this figure and all of the enhancements bring out the best in the figure.  Although my G1 Jetfire is bright white, I really like Sabrina’s concept for the figure and the carbon scoring that is seen on the jet mode brings the figure to another level.  You will also notice Sabrina’s signature deep red color on the engines, which other Transformers, such as Optimus Prime and Sideswipe, have had the honor of wearing.  I am very impressed with this figure and can’t wait for more to come.  With that, I will hand it over to Sabrina to tell you more about how she made this figure her own:

Jetfire Henkei Transformers 2 Custom henkei transformers

“The third installment of my Henkei series. Jetfire. The technique to Jetfire’s paint scheme consists of a fusion between Gundam and Transformers. He was shaded, panel lined and had a layer of metallic red airbrushed on him. White has never been an easy colour to work with due to the numerous layers of paint needed before the desired shade of white is obtained. He was then clear coated and protected with anti UV gloss for that extra radiant shine and protection.  Jetfire was given a pair of Gundam 1/100 fists as well as 2 additional weapons. A hand held Grenade Launcher which fits snugly into his hands as well as a Beam Rifle!”

Cyclonus Henkei Transformers Custom customizers

Cyclonus’ design was one of the coolest among the seeker jets and Sabrina Ng has given this Decepticon warrior a fresh new look with her Custom Transformers Henkei Cyclonus figure.  The shape of Cyclonus is very different that the original seeker jets and the original paint scheme was a deep purple and silver, which Sabrina Ng has captured nicely with her flawless painting technique.  Let’s read more about how she made this great figure:

“To begin with, Henkei Cyclonus has some of the coolest looking chromy purple wings ever. That however didn’t stop me from designing an even better colour scheme to complement him. I took some of the best paints that I had and spent countless hours experimenting before I managed to churn out a very metallic looking chromy purple that’s close to the stock colours of purple chrome. He has been airbrushed with utmost care and shaded and detailed at every corner possible without turning this fearsome Destron warrior into looking overly colourful. Notice the very limited colour choices on Cyclonus without sacrificing the amount of attention to him.”

Optimus Prime Transformers Universe Custom customizers

Customizers always see the inner beauty of a figure sitting on the shelf and they always seem to bring out the best in the figure.  Sabrina Ng has again worked her magic with her Custom Transformers Universe Optimus Prime figure.  Thinking that the figure looked too dull, she focused on making this figure shine with a combination of painting techniques.  I especially love the direction she took the midsection and the grill, giving Optimus that burnt steel look.  There are also very small details that if you are not paying close attention, you will miss.  For example, she noticed that the box shot had a picture of Prime with a symbol on his lef arm and she went ahead and made that correction and even put a high gloss finish on it to protect it.  I have said it before and I will say it again, Sabrina makes outstanding customs and you should feel lucky if you win one because you should know that the ones she makes are the highest quality and best around.  Head over to eBay and check out her Custom Transformers Universe Optimus Prime figure for yourself.

Masterpiece Thrust Ramjet Dirge Transformers Customs generation 1 transformers

When I first came across Wheeljacks Custom Body Shop’s Custom Masterpiece Transformers Thrust, Ramjet, and Dirge, I had to do a double, triple, and quadruple take.  These seeker jets look so amazing in the photo, they must look unreal in real life.  One aspect that struck me about these customs is that the heads and the winds are handmade!  Now stop and digest that statement for a while!  The parts look like just like the G1 originals that they were modeled after.  These have to be some of the best looking Masterpiece Customs I have seen ever!  Let’s get some more detail on these great jets from Wheeljack’s Custom Body Shop:

“You’re bidding on THREE custom Masterpiece Transformers.  Dirge, Thrust and Ramjet.  These dudes are fully transformable.  Each comes with unique weapons and ladder.  These guys fit in really well with the Official Hasbro Starscream and the Takara Skywarp and Thundercracker.  The wings and heads are entirely hand made.  They were painted with automotive enamel and Modelmaster Testor products.  Decals were custom designed.  They are also sealed with a couple coats of future acrylic.  The manufacturing process was fully documented at Sector70.  They took about 6 months to complete.  Bidder should understand that these are one of a kind handmade items.  They are not subject to the same structural standards as factory toys.  They are durable however they are not designed for everyday use or rough handling.  Winner will receive a PDF file with Transformation Instructions similar to factory toys.  The boxes are not like the standard MP Takara boxes.  Mine were personally designed and fabricated and painted out of sheets of cardboard.  I drew the images, colored and designed the layout.  The Printed part of the box were manufactured by a printing company using high quality materials and laminated.  Winner will also recieve one of my early customs, a mini alt mode of Reflector.”

Sidewsipe Masterpiece Transformers Custom generation 1 transformers

Standing a towering 8.5 inches tall, Master Maker’s Custom Transformers Masterpiece Sideswipe captures that Generation 1 feel on a much larger scale.  This figure is truly a work of art and you can tell that Master Maker has poured his heart and skill into this one.  I like the direction he took with the head as the G1 and cartoon heads were stylistically too plain for me.  He has preserved the G1 paint aps of the original with his choice of Lamborghini red, white, and black.  I love the additions of the LED lights and sounds as it adds another dimension to the figure.  Master Maker also did his homework so I will let him tell you more about Sideswipe’s vehicle mode:

“The shell is made from a 1/24 scale Tamiya Lamborghini Countach Walter Wolf Edition. This is the true version used in the 1984 G1 Sideswipe figure enhaced to it’s fullest with the authentic paint scheme of the Walter Wolf edition Lambo.”

Seaspray Transformers Custom generation 1 transformers

Ever since I saw the Transformers Movie figure Stormsurge warming the pegs at Target, I have been waiting for the day for someone to create a G1 version and Duom has answered the call with his Custom Transformers G1 Seaspray figure.  Let’s get some more detail on how he made this great figure:

“Seaspray started life as a Stormsurge from the movie line, but with a new paintjob and scratchbuilt peices has been rebuilt into the Autobot Naval Defender!  Stormsurge’s original “lobster claw” hands were removed and rebuilt as new larger feet for Seaspray. New hands were scratchbuilt and fit perfectly into feet for transformation. A new head was also built for Seapray, and his gun was given a new handle to fit into the new hands. Finally, the spring loaded, key activated mechanism was removed, allowing the missles to simply be flipped forward or back.  Seaspray is painted in glossy Kyrlon Fusion White and Blue for long lasting durability, finished off with a orange-yellow and dark metallic grey. Details are done in clear blue, clear red, and clear yellow over chrome silver.”

Bruticus Custom Master Piece Transformers Figure2 generation 1 transformers

I thought I would ring in the New Year with a big bang and feature L.K.’s Custom G1 Masterpiece Bruticus figure.  I have seen a nice run of combiner figures in the last couple months and I just have to say to all of the customizers out there making them…keep them coming!  This is the 3rd in L.K.’s Masterpiece Custom (MPC) figures and I do have to say that there are a few customizers that know how to do these figures right and L.K. is one of them.  Not only is the Generation 1feel intact and preserved, but the scale of the figure goes so much better with the scale of the G1 figures.  If you look at the cartoon, the combiners towered above the other bots but somehow the sense of scale was lost when the characters were translated into the toys (which is one of my pet peeves).  If you want to check out an amazing piece of work, head over to eBay and view Custom G1 Masterpeice Bruticus figure.

Darkcave Customs has made the most intricate and detailed combiner figures yet with his Custom Generation 1 Predaking Prime figure.  This is one badass beast and you have to hand it to Darkcave’s imagination for making this one into a reality.  The story behind Predaking Prime is Optimus unleashing his inner beast and this is what Darkcave translated this into…a G1 style behemoth that stands 17.5 inches tall and 13 inches wide.  This deviates from the traditional combiner figures as only 3 figures combine to form the larger robot but this is a welcome deviation as the other two figures are not needed as Prime’s legs are used in place of the two figures.  I love the colors that he chose on this one as it harkins me back to the 80’s when Predaking made his colorful debut.  My favorite part of this figure, which are many, is the lion chest plate smack dab in the middle of the figure and the massive sword that this beats yields.  Let’s check out Predaking Prime’s alternative mode:

bruticus custom master piece transformers figure 222x300 generation 1 transformers

L.K. Customs has been busy and thier latest is evidence that the G1 Combiner figures have a life post 1980’s.  His Custom 15″ Bruticus figure rivals his 15″ Superion figure he created in November 2008.  L.K. did a great job keeping the Generation 1 feel alive with this behemoth, even getting the right tones on the figure.  As this is not a direct interpretation of the figure, I feel that this Bruticus gives a more updated and modern look to the one who is quoted as saying, “The road to conquest is paved with Autobot wrecks.”  Speaking of quotes, lets hear more from L.K. about this great custom:

“Most of the BRUTICUS  joints are movable, head moves up and down, left and right. Shoulder rotates 360, Fingers moves up and down ( thumb has individual ball joints ). Legs/hips moves forward, knees bends !! All figures has been given a fixative coating on top of the paint to make it durable. The paint used are the professional resin base paint.Apart from these, all figures have been given a muddy/metalic effect on the surface to make them looks more realistic like an Army Set !! Besides, with Combaticons’ individual wapeans, can combine and form a giant Weapons for Bruticus!!”

Here are the other figure that make up Bruticus:

  1. BLAST OFF
  2. BRAWL
  3. ONSLAUGHT
  4. SWINDLE
  5. VORTEX

Kickin it G1 style, Crefigz applies his unique paint ap technique to an old friend with an updated look with his Custom Transformers Universe 2.0 Ironhide figure.  It is figures like this that remind of being in Boston, Massachusetts where you can see older buildings reflected in the newer skyscrapers and this is the feeling I get when I see this Ironhide.  Although this Ironhide has a new look thanks to the Transformers Universe 2.0 line, Crefigz has given this figure a G1 paint ap reminiscent of 1980’s tride and true Autobot.  With the familiar yellow stripe gracing the sides of this figure, you can get a feel for the classic Generation 1 Ironhide we all know and love but with a sleek, angled new mold.  If you want a figure that is as smooth as glass with craftsmanship and attention to detail that is the highest around, head over to eBay and check out his Custom Transformers Universe 2.0 Ironhide figure.

Wheeljack Transformers Universe 2.0 Custom G1 Figure by Duom

wheeljack custom transformers universe 228x300 generation 1 transformers

Wheeljack has to be one of my favorite Autobot customs and Duom has payed a very nice homage to this G1 favorite with his Custom G1 Transformers Universe 2.0 Wheeljack figure.  This figure began as a TFU2.0 Sunstreaker but is not a Generation 1 great thanks to a very talented dude.  Not only did he use Sunstreaker as a base, he also custom made many of the parts and decals.  Let’s read more about how Duom made this excellent figure:

“The new front body kit was scratch built from styrene, as were Wheeljack’s trademark wings, head details and enhanced spoiler. Wheeljack’s wings peg into his car underbelly for storage, and his “ears” even fold up for transformation.  Wheeljacks sports a new, high-gloss, Krylon Fusion white paint job for ultimate durability. He is finished off with chrome silver details and a custom dark grey for body parts. All decals were custom designed just for this particular Wheeljack, no ill-fitting reproduction G1 stickers here! The decals are protected with gloss clear coat for added protection. Please note, however that there are a few spots of unavoidable paint scratching, namely the clips on the doors on the pegs on the legs. It’s quite minor though.”

Head over to eBay and view more photos and place a bid on Duom’s Custom G1 Transformers Universe 2.0 Wheeljack figure.

transformers universe hound ravage g1 custom 217x300 generation 1 transformers

Frenzy.Rumble is back on the scene with an exclusive treat that will not be out in the US for another few weeks and the best part is that they are customized in their Generation 1 likeness.  His Custom Transformers Universe Hound and Ravage figures are the epitome of the 1980’s and Frenzy.Rumble has outdone himself once again by using the very effective olive green (for Hound) and silver and black (for Ravage) to capture that G1 flavor that fans clamor for.  Like all of Frenzy.Rumble’s customs, the finish and paint aps are like glass and you know that he goes out of his way to please fans.  Let’s learn more about these great customs from the source:

“Hound was one of my favorite Autobots as a kid, and who doesn’t love Ravage? Transformer Universe Hound and Ravage won’t be available in US retaill for another month, but here they are …and they’re customized. With Hound, I removed the existing hands, and replaced them with fully poseable hands, which can point, wave, make a fist and more. These new hands actually fold into the forearms when transforming into alternate mode. I achieved Hound’s awesome green color using 6 shades of green. All the detail was painful to add on, but suits the figure very well. His Jeep mirrors are painted with chrome to give a great reflection. I later added custom made decals, such as the faction symbol, army stars and vehicle ID tags. There’s even been a custom California license plate added with the text : HOUND1. I also replaced the ugly tires which this figure came with for some authentic Jeep Wrangler rubber type tires. For Ravage, I repainted the entire figure and added a metallic look to his limbs, a faction symbol, and tiny details, like glowing red eyes and shiny silver teeth.

All paints used in the process were 100% enamel, so the finish is very durable, and the colors will stay vibrant and true for many many years. (Keep in mind, this is a collectible, so don’t throw it around!)?  I finished him off with several finishes of Testor’s clear coats, matte, semi-gloss, and gloss variations. This is a must-have and definite collectible for G1 and movie fans alike”

L.K. Customs has put his talent to work and has created a massive combiner from the past with his Custom Masterpiece Superion Transformers G1 figure.  Using the Transformers Universe Silverbolt as the centerpiece of this figure, he seamlessly recreates the Generation 1 feel of the classic Aerialbot crew, which is evidient in his color choices and overall style of the figure.  In robot mode, the 5 figures combine to form a massive 15″ autobot, which towers over the deluxe and voyager class Transformers.  With the size difference he was able to achieve what Hasbro could not do with the original.  Let’s learn more about this great figure from L.K.:

“Most of the SUPERION joints are movable, such as Shoulders move in and out, Elbows bends, Arms rotates 360 front/back ways, Fingers moves up and down ( thumb has individual ball joints ). Legs/hips moves backward, knees moves forward and backward !! Shoulder movable joints are not simple ball joints, they are the gear wheels joints which will give a “click” sound whenever you move the joints!! All figures has been given a fixative coating on top of the paint to make it durable. The paint used are the professional resin base paint.”

Defstar does not mess around when it comes to making what fans want and his Custom Transformers G1 Devastator is no exception.  This behemoth stands a towering 17″ tall and is 12″ wide and your G1 Transformers would not want to meet this monster in a dark alley!  This figure is made of 6 Constructicons that combine to form Devastator and it looks like great care was taken in making sure that this figure retained its G1 look and feel while creating a masterpiece.

“Created with the best epoxy and paints available and coated with a protective sealer for durability.  He has full 360 degrees of rotation at both shoulders and 180 degrees of rotation at both his elbows and knees.  His fingers are functional and his head turns 360 degrees…this devastator is very large and very heavy…but his pose ability remains relatively good.  He is very simple to transform…all six Constructicons do transform into their alt modes as shown and combining Devastator is very simple as well…though transforming instructions will be provided to the winner…(note: this custom is not recommended for children but collectors only as some care needs to be taken when handling the figures)…”

Mooncricket pays a very nice homage to a G1 classic with his Custom Animated Transformers Grimlock in Gernation 1 style.  The paint aps are very nicely applied on this figure and it is very smooth looking and professional.  It takes a very talented artist to make paint appear like glass on plastic and this is a great example of how a great technique translates into a work of art.

**Custom head to better resemble his G1 countenance!

Shockwave G1 Custom Transformers Figure by Jin Saotome

shockwave custom 229x300 customizers

Shockwave was already a great addition to the Transformers Classics line and, as expected, Jin Saotome goes above and beyond and really brings out the Generation 1 feel to this Custom Transformers G1 Shockwave figure.  Using the purple and pink color scheme from the cartoon, this figure very closely resembles the Shockwave from the 1980’s.  I like the modifications that were made from the Classics figure and it just goes to show you that more is less in robot mode.  In blaster mode, on the otherhand, this figure closely resembles a German Nebelwerfer, a six-barreled (nonrotating) tubular projector, with barrels 3 to 3 1/2 feet long and 160 mm in diameter.

shockwave comparison 300x146 customizers

On that note, let’s hear more about this great figure from Jin: “This auction is for an 8” tall ‘Shockwave’ figure with removable arm blasters, magnetic shoulder cannons, and Space Cannon/Ship base. He has multiple points of articulation and in my opinion is the best Shockwave mold ever to come out of the Transformers line. He’ll fit right in with your current Transformers collection and is scaled to Voyager size. He doesn’t come with instructions because of the different Alt mode but you can probably figure it out by the pics.  You asked for him time and time again, the cold and calculating Decepticon with the single eye. Shockwave is back and this time he’s packing an arsenal of weapons! As you can see he’s been decked out in G1 colors using deep shadows, highlights, metallic effects, and the shocking purple/pinkish color right from the show. Shockwave has also been sealed against paint wear and transforms into a Space Cannon or removing the base has him looking like a cosmic battleship of sorts. His arm cannons are removable and fire off missiles while his giant shoulder cannons magnetically mount and can be removed too. So, were you looking for the definitive Shockwave for your Classics/Universe collection?”

Master of the Generation 1 Custom Transformers, Shinobitron pays homage to another Predacon with his Custom Transformers G1 Headstrong figure.  Back in February 2008, I featured his Custom Predacon Rampage figure.  The Predacons are cool and it is great to see more customs and this Headstrong figure keeps the essence of the original with the G1 color scheme.  Let’s learn more from Shinobitron about this great figure:

“HS is fully articulated and can transform freely!  He has been detailed to resemble his G1 self and comes with his horn Sword and a gun!  He has been given a metallic paint job for that extra shine when hunting down some Autobot!  Need a Pred to add to your collection?  Do you beleive that most of the jungles animals are red and Gold?  Then bid today and get Headstrong for your self!”

This week, CreFigz has taken on a G1 Classic with his Custom Transformers Animated Grimlock figure.  One of my favorite aspects of his figures is the way that he brings plastic alive to look like metal with his airbrushing techniques.  The color choice and placement of them really pays homage to Generation 1 Grimlock while still giving him that animated feel to him.  The deep reds, golds, and greys compliment each other very nicely and the way the figure is shaded gives it an added dimension of depth.  I have always been a fan of CreFigz’s customs and he keeps producing excellent customs week after week so if you want to see more photos, please head over to eBay and bid on his Custom Transformers Animated Grimlock figure.

Paying a very nice homage to a Generation 1 classic figure, Defstar brings us his version of one of the few female Autobots with his Custom Transformers G1 Arcee figure.  What I love about this figure is that is retains her Cybertronian look.  Defstar chose the perfect shade of pink and white to compliment the classic nature of Arcee.  Since the figure is pink and white, Defstar did a great job knowing where to add black accents to the figure to give it an added dimension.  I don’t see Arcee’s come up very frequently so it is great to see her appear once and a while and Defstar delivered what fans want!  Head over to eBay and check out more photos of his Custom Transformers G1 Arcee figure!

When it comes to Generation 1 Transformers, Ironhide is one of the originals and you can’t beat that!  Kids from the 1980’s had Ironhide in their Autobot line up and s generation 1 transformersRick Coronel has paid a great homage to this G1 legend by not only kitbashing him to G1 specs but also creating him in Masterpiece style.  His Custom Master Piece G1 Ironhide will fit in very nicely with the MP collection.  Standing about 7″ tall, Ironhide’s scale will look great standing next to the MP Prime.  As far as the G1 likeness is concerned, Rick nailed this one!  Albeit a van is not the sexiest vehicle to transform to but the way that Rick engineered the pieces together is amazing and I am very pleased with how this came out.  He has many photos on his auction page so head over to eBay and check out his Custom Masterpiece G1 Ironhide MP figure.

Ironhide Transformers Movie G1 Custom by Sabrina Ng

ironhide g1 transformers custom 300x225 2007 movie

Those who grew up in the 1980’s remember Ironhide as a a red and orange minivan.  Sabrina Ng has taken the classic paint aps of the Generation 1 figure and fused it with the 2007 Transformers figure and you get her Custom Transformers Movie G1 Ironhide figure.  Airbrushed figures are some of the best painted customs I have seen and if you are lucky enough to come across a customizer who uses this technique, you are in a for an eye candy treat.  One aspect of the 2007 Movie Transformers that needed special attention was the look of the metal and steel and Sabrina has done an awesome job creating a realistic look of metal with her painting techniques.  To tell you more about this G1 Ironhide, here is Sabrina herself:

“A weapons specialist, a tough soldier and one of the oldest Autobots. My fondest memory of Movie Ironhide is when he wanted to blow the dog away with his canons for peeing at his legs :) This is a very special custom to me as I took some time experimenting in combining airbrush shading with dry brushing to bring out a more shadowed steel look. After my G1 Optimus Prime, I felt that Ironhide deserved a G1 makeover as well.  Ironhide was soaked, washed, cleaned and primed before painting. I made sure that the icky sticky factory finish did not interfere with my paint scheme. I applied three layers of shading combined with five shades of dry brushed silver. I gave him a very special metallic vermillion colour for his vehicle mode and topped it off with his G1 yellow stripe which is of a darker and more metallic variation of the typical sunset yellow. Various detailing were done but I was careful not to make Ironhide appear overly ‘colourful’. I ended this custom with several layers of anti UV gloss coat in order to protect and retain his vibrant colours for years to come.”

BoskoesToys has been on a tear creating magnificent customs from all toy lines.  When I first saw this custom, I had to do a double take.   If you are from the 1980’s and remember Megatron’s transformation into Galvatron at the hand of Unicron, you will kill for BoskoesToys Custom Galvatron Megatron Fusion figure.  Catching Megatron mid transformation is the best way to characterize this figure.  The translucent parts that they added to the figure adds to the feeling of Megatron being subsumed by Galvatron.  Unicron’s hand works, in an artistic way, to hold Galvatron and also put him on display.  I give BoskoesToys major credit for creating a unique piece that captures one of the coolest parts of the Transformers Movie from the 1980’s with thier Custom Galvatron Megatron Fusion figure.

Shinobitron has been busy making the best of what he can with the Transformers Animated line.  This week, he brings us his Custom Transformers Animated Galvatron figure, with a G1 twist to the design.  This version of Galvatron, which is actually an animated Megatron as the base, transforms into an actual canon!  Paying homage to the G1 Galvatron, Shinobitron’s choice of a deep purple is spot on.  While he has a made a G1 style figure, Galvatron still retains an animated feel to him.  Check out the thought process behind this awesome figure below:

“In my loyal attempt to make the heralds of Unicron the final figure is here!  Galvatron comes to you standing 6″ tall and ready to crush some Autobot heads!  Galvs has been detailed to resemble his G1 self as close as possible with tones of purple silver and black all set to his original styling.  He has given his old school weaponry and even his red abs of ultimate evil!  Trying to be the best of both worlds I took some liberties and retooled the classic Galv crown and even filled in his seems with red energy!  So you got Galvs bot mode now what to do for an Alt mode?  The  answer is easy, how about a tripod space canon!  With a few minor twists and turns Galv can reclaim his G1 glory and become a space canon once again!  G1 goodness with an animated attitude what more can you ask from one figure besides a pile of ash to call Starscream?”

Shinobitron always puts a cool spin on his customs while retaining their G1 likeness andrs his Custom Transformers Animated G1 Swoopis no exception.  Calling Swoop a “flying ninja,” Shinobitron added a custom double edged sword to fit more with his concept.  Let’s read more about how Shinobitron came up with this concept:

“Don’t get me wrong I love TFA Swoop but he should have been so much more.  My Swoop comes detailed to look like his G1 self and is done in metallics for that extra shine.  Swoop still stands 6″ tall and is fully articulated.  Along with being superposeable Swoop can still change into his Pterodactyl Dino mode.  The dino mode has been changed with added missiles that can be attached during both modes.  The TFA figure comes with a cool looking mace, but to me thats not a weapon for an aerial warrior.  Swoop has been given a double edged sword that fits his look and new personality.  The sword looks awesome and can be used in many of Ninjaesk poses.”

I never grow tired of seeing customizers turn current figures into G1 classics.  This week, Hunter Knight Customs shows us what the latest Prowl would look in G1 style with this Custom Prowl Transformers Animated G1 figure.  The 1980’s Prowl was very simple and classic and Hunter Knight Customs captures that feel with his Animated repaint.  If you think about it, the original Prowl was a cop car and back in those days, the only flavor of colors for those cars were the good old Black and White.  The custom looks slick in motorcycle mode but you will have to head over to his Custom Prowl Transformers Animated G1 figure on eBay to view them.

When I first saw Frenzy.Rumble’s Custom Transformers Menasor G1 figure I was at a loss for words, which is not good for a blogger :)   When I composed myself, I began looking closer at this work of art that stands over 17″ tall and began to see how awesome this figure truly is.  Due to the fact that the sum of the parts make the whole, let me start with the Stunticons themselves:

Let me stress that this is not a repaint of the G1 Menesor but it is actually 5 distinct Stunitcons that combine to make Menasor.  Each Stunticon looks to be painstakingly detailed and Menasor is the beautiful creation that is made up of them.  The colors on this one remind me a lot of the Generation 1 combiner and each figure resembles their former self from the 1980’s.  Stay tuned for updates as Frenzy.Rumble has informed us that there will be 3 bonuses added to his Custom Transformers Menasor G1 as it progresses for check back often.

Kyle Robinson has taken 1/5th of the Stunticons and paid homage to one of them with this Custom G1 Tranformers Breakdownfigure.  The combiner figures are great and I still own Menasor and it is great to see people making these figures.  Staying true to the G1 nature of this custom, Kyle has done a great job matching the colors to make this custom come to life.  The head sculpt is my favorite part of this custom as it does not exactly match the G1 figure, it does a great job keeping with the scheme of the updated figure.  To see all the great pictures and to place a bid on this great Custom G1 Tranformers Breakdown figure, head over to eBay or check out all of the other Custom Transformers figures.

Custom Cyclonus

Dark Cave Customs has added another figure to the growing Custom Animated Transformers with his Custom G1 Cyclonus Animatedfigure.  Painted in classic Cyclonus purple, this figure is a great representation of the G1 Transformers Movie version.  The angles on the figures of the Animated Series lend themselves to a great canvas for creating G1 figures.  The head sculpt is crafted in a way that pays a very nice homage to the classic figure.  Dark Cave Customs provides a little more detail about how this custom was created:

“Cyclonus is a repainted and modified TF Animated Starscream action figure.  He includes a two removable stun cannons, which can be mounted under his wings, or attached to his gauntlets with embedded super magnets, and the head has been modified to better resemble his G1 namesake.”

power glide custom g1 animated 300x178 animated series

Taking on the minibot, FrenzyRumble uses the Transformers Universe line as a base for his Custom Transformers Animated G1 Powerglide figure.  There is nothing mini about this Autobot as the Transformers Universe line gave this little a hero an upgrade to Ultra Class.  Giving Powerglide a much needed Generation 1 makeover, FrenzyRumble describes his painting technique and process to get his figures just right:

“This time around, I actually dyed the original figure in a burgundy plastic dye bath. This tedious process left my stove and hands bright red for a week, but more importantly changed the white plastic to a deep burgundy red. This ensures any scratches, dings, etc, would only expose burgundy, rather than white. Like all my customs, I went over the edge with detail. EVERY detail is painted to perfection. The red was actually achieved using various blending and dry brushing techniques. There are roughly 10 or more shades of red. The arms and legs were painted in various shades of metallic silvers, golds, coppers, and gunmetal. Nothing beats the amazing results from enamel metallics….it will actually shimmer in the light. On Powerglide’s plane mode, there is an American flag (which can be changed to your countries’ flag) and near his cockpit, are traditional “kill point” markings, showing the number of Decepticons he’s taken down. All paints used in the process were 100% enamel, so the finish is very durable, and the colors will stay vibrant and true for many many years. (Keep in mind, this is a collectible, so don’t throw it around!) I finished him off with several finishes of Testor’s clear coats, matte, semi-gloss, and gloss variations. In addition, he’s got lots of sounds and lights. Pressing a small button in Warthog (plane) mode the cockpit and jet exhausts light up. Pressing that same button in robot mode lights up his eyes (although painted light blue to resemble his cartoon persona) This is a must-have and definite collectible for G1 and movie fans alike. “

I am also excited to inform you that FrenzyRumble has decided to make customs his full time passion so I am expecting many more great Custom Transformers in the future so stay tuned!

Optimus Prime Custom Leader Class G1 Transformers Movie Optimus Prime Figure by Sabrina Ng

custom optimus prime 1 300x225 2007 movie

Sabrina Ng has taken the Premium Leader Class Prime a step up and made it her own with her Custom Transformers Leader Class Movie Optimus Primefigure in Generation 1 style.  It is really great when customizers go back to the G1 roots.  The way this custom was painted gives it a metallic look that only a true artist can achieve.  The truck actually looks like it has rivets in it.  The color red is a very nice and richer than I have seen in most custom Prime’s but the color goes well with the figure.  Here is how Sabrina made this work of art:

“I’ve airbrushed, painted, dry brushed, weathered and highlighted the entire figure to be as realistic as possible!!! Well, let’s see. After washed and dry, I gave him a coat of primer followed by a base coat of steel and gold. Anyway, I then gave him a nice overall chrome silver coating as well as 2 layers of gloss coat before I started on his primary colours of specially mixed red and blue paint. MP-01 had a chilli red colour scheme but I felt that it was too common and doesn’t do this figure justice. Thus, I settled on a more intense shade of red and blue to give him a deeper character. Body parts were painted with a shade of silver and dry brushed for the steel effect. After all was done, I gave him another layer of gloss coat to seal in the paint before I started on doing some weathering and detailing for him. Before I ended the job, I gave him a glossy UV protection coat to prevent the colour from fading over the years. The end result, an ultimate work of art.”

BoskoesToys has brought to life one of the most menacing Transformers icons to life with his Custom Transformers Movie Unicronfigure.  They really hit the mark on this one with thier choice of colors and staying true to the Generation 1 look and feel.  Let’s get a bit more detail on this one from the source:

This dude holds up to 27 Mini-Con figures, has glowing eyes, a glowing fist, a chest cannon, and missles galore! There’s an Energon Unicron under all that delicious paint so i’m sure you’re acquainted with the sheer size of this transformable bahemouth. We took the paint all the way with this one- emptying out our trick bag, and painstakingly mixing up custom hybrid blends of our very favorite pots. Testors Model Masters, Cartoon Colora  cell paint, Reaper, Pearl -X “real metalics” & Tamiya Color all helped out here. Minimal mods, infact just some minor apoxy work on the chest so all is good in the hod as far his original Transformation goes.

Custom Punch Counterpunch by Frenzy.Rumble

I never thought I would be writing about another Punch Counterpunch custom but here I am!  This week, Frenzy.Rumble has remade a Generation 1 classic figure with his Custom Transformers Punch Counterpunchfigure.  Made from the Transformers Universe Sunstreaker figure, one of the coolest features about this custom are the customs lasers for each figure (which you can view below).  This is one of the coolest customs because it is like getting two robots in one.  The car mode is really slick and simple the red rims compliment the figure nicely.  Find out how much blood, sweat, and tears (of joy of course), went into making this figure by reading more below:

Punch Counterpunch G1 Custom by Frenzy.Rumble

The auction is for one transformer, with 2 robot forms; Counterpunch (the Decepticon) and Punch (the Autobot). Read the “Character Description” below to learn more about this awesome double-spy Transformer. To make his head, I actually took 2 other Transformer heads, cut them in half and welded them together with apoxy resin. His hands are articulated too!  There are arm-mounted lasers for both Autobot and Decepticon forms, which shoot a real powerful laser light. Counterpunch is the version with blacks and blues, his laser is RED. Punch is the version with the yellow shoulders and chest, his laser is BLUE. There’s even an authentic working heat sensitive faction symbol on his chest. This figure has been meticulously detailed with several shades of silver, blue and yellow,  an array of metallic colors, and many other colors. EVERY detail is painted to perfection. All paints used in the process were 100% enamels, so the finish is very durable, and the colors will stay vibrant and true for many many years. (Keep in mind, this is a collectible, so don’t throw it around!) I finished him off with several finishes of Testor’s clear coats, all matte, semi-gloss, and gloss variations.

Custom Animated Cyclonus by Shinobitron

Shinobitron pays homage to a Generation 1 icon with his Custom Transformers Animated Cyclonusfigure.  Created by Unicron, Cyclonus is the Decepticon’s air warrior and saboteur.  Shinobitron has an eye for what will look great in the end and as he explains, “Starscream being made with reverse wings he was just begging to be Cyclonus!”  I totally agree with his interpretation and the end result is awesome.  Done in the classic Cyclonus purple, this custom has a couple features that add to its appeal.  First, the head sculpt is maded from steel and Shinobritron was able to give this figure the aged and hardened look it had in the movie.  He also included Cyclonus’ signature gray gun.  Let’s read more about this custom from the source:

“My Cy stands 8″ tall and comes fully articulated and transformable.  Hes been done in my favortie Cyclonus color purple thus the embodiment of the Decep symbol!  Whats Cyclonus with out a grey gun?  I took care of that and included one!  Cy has been given a custom head that was made from steel sculpt.  Not only does his head look cool but he also has red piping to show how evil he really is.  Cys head is pretty big with his warrior horns.  I took care of this problem and made a slot under the landing gear to attach it when in jet mode.  I also couldn’t decide where to place his Decep symbols.  I am including 2 reprolabel stickers so you place your factions symbols where ever you like!”

Custom G1 Insecticons by Ptitvite

Taking his inspiration from the Transformers Generation One classics, Ptitvite has created a stunning version of the Insecticons with his Custom Transformer G1 Bombshell, Kickback, and Shrapnelfigures.  What is great about these figures is their cartoon likeness and classic look and feel.  The colors compliment figures very well, which helps to define their Generation 1 appeal.  Another aspect that I really like about these figures is they are scratch built, which demonstrates Ptitvite’s talent as a customizer.  Here is more information about how these great figures were created from the source:

This delightful set of modified G1 Insecticons will please the most passionate collectors. They are now super-articulated and are truly unique. Some parts are scratchbuilt and some taken from other Transformers. I carefully enamel-painted them, inspired by their cartoon interpretation and a bit of my own. They represent about 55 hours of work altogether…for toys that size! I really work hard on my customs and I always try to make them look perfect.

Custom G1 Kub by Shinobitron

Shinobitron pays homage to a classic figure from the 1980’s and finds a new way to use the Optimus Prime mold from the latest series with his Custom Transformers Animated Kup figure. What a great idea to use Prime’s animated figure as a base for this one as the vintage Kup takes on the almost the same design. The head sculpt is updated and reflects Kup’s age in a more dignified and refined look. At first glance, the head looks like it could belong on top of Panthro from the Thundercats but maybe Shinobitron will make another crossover figure in the future (a Thundercat/Transformers crossover is not likely but I would not put it past him…he has made some crossover figures in the past with his latest being a Custom Batman/Transformers crossover I wrote about a few weeks ago but I digress). The colors are spot on as this Kup has a nice powder blue like the classic figure. I have said it before and I will say it again, Shinobitron is the Man when it comes to G1 Customs and he is always thinking a step ahead and seeing what he can make and is not afraid of a challenge.

Custom Punch Counterpunch by Jin Saotome

Jin Saotome has captured the classic feel of a 1980’s Transformers favorite with his Custom Punch Counterpunch G1 Transformers Universe figure. Part of being able to capture that feel are the colors used to create this figure. The yellows and the blues are dead on and the most unique aspect about this custom is that it is essentially two figures in one. Jin goes on to describe more about this unique custom:

“Punch is an Autobot, Counterpunch is a Decepticon, but they’re the same being! Confused? Not as much as the Decepticons will be when this Doublespy infiltrates their ranks. Punch/Counterpunch can be transformed into two completely different robots, just like his G1 form could. Just a few extra twists and turns will change Punch into his alter-ego Counterpunch. He (they?) have been painted with rich semigloss colors, bright highlights, and sealed to protect against wear.”

OptimusPrime1 732532 2007 movie

Sonray Customs has found a great use for the Star Wars Transformers figures with his Custom Optimus Prime G1 ‘pre earth’ figure. What a great idea to take a Star Wars Transformers Commander Cody and turn it into a G1 legend, Optimus Prime. I like Sonray’s take on this figure as it pays a nice homage to Optimus Prime’s earth likeness and what he may have looked like rolling down the streets of Cybertron. The G1 colors are great and the pin striping on the sides and the silver pipes gives this figure a very distinct and familiar. Sonray describes more about how he made this great figure:

“Basically I saw this awful SWTF toy in a store and saw that despite all its design flaws it had some potential to make a pretty good looking, pre-earth G1 Optimus Prime. So i took it home and painted him up with high quality acrylics and enamels in a pure G1 style, added a Movie voyager Prime head, and attached on some old 20th Anni’ prime smokestacks i had saved. This is a great looking custom and very unique. Its fully poseable as you can tell by the pictures, and the paint is very durable.”

Guiltar 757142 animated seriesAdding some spice to Transformers Animated line, Jin Saotome cooks up this bizarre fusion of Optimus Prime and Megatron known in the Generation 1 world as Guiltar. Oh yes, don’t forget to add a pinch of ghost spark from Starscream and you get a pretty cool figure that I will gaurantee will never see the light of day in the Animated line. The molds of Optimus Prime and Megatron were perfect for this creation. When I first looked at this figure, I thought Jin had made two heads for it but when I read more about it, he actually created a movable faceplate that you can operate via a level to show a more rabid look to the figure. This figure looks very well put together for being a fusion figure and one to own for the hardcore Generation 1 fans. Head over to Jin’s Custom Transformers Animated Guiltar figure today for your chance to own this great piece.

Guiltar, also known as the “Great-Gun Soldier”, is a bizarre, vicious fusion of Optimus Prime and Megatron, sent to attack both Autobot and Decepticon alike. It is ultimately a lifeless shell created by the Quintessons, animated by the “ghost” spark of Starscream. It has a massive artillery truck mode, as well as multiple gun configurations for its robot mode. Physically, it can hold its own against many of the toughest Transformers.

Grimlock Custom Transformers Animated Series G1 Figure by encline598

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Animated Grimlock 1 715909 animated seriesA couple articles ago, I was reviewing a Custom Animated Starscream and I said that I was not a huge fan of the Animated Series but the figures have really grown on me. I actually picked one up and held it for the first time on Father’s Day and I actually really like most of the figures. I ended up buying Starscream, Megatron, and Bumblebee but if I had come across a Grimlock, I would have bought that one too, which brings me to the topic at hand. encline598 has done a spectacular job with his Custom Animated Transformers Grimlock figure. The figure, in many ways, pays a nice homage to the Generation 1 Grimlock figure with its simple silver and gold paint aps and new head round bring out the feel of the 1980’s figure but with an updated look. I was not too impressed with the original paint scheme that Hasbro chose but I am glad that encline598 has gone back to the basics and really made a great looking figure. The hammered silver look blends nicely with the overall look of the figure and it will fit right in with the other Animated Transformers, which is very important because you would not want mismatch in paint style to make the figure look out of place.

Devastator Custom Transformers Generation 1 Combiner Figure by frenzy.rumble Part 1

Tags: , , , , , , ,

Devastator2 704788 generation 1 transformersWhen frenzy.rumble tackles a Transformers project, he goes BIG! Take a look at his latest creation, a 16″ Custom Transformers Devastator Combiner figure. I really like frenzy.rumble’s artistic liberties he has taken with this behemoth as I think it is a vast improvement to the original Devastator while still retaining the classic Generation 1 styling we all know and love. First off, you may notice the absence of a pretty dominant color purple that was the focal point of the 1980’s classic. He has gone with a metallic look where there used to be purple and I think that adds very much to the look and feel of the figure. You can tell that this combiner has been painstakingly painted (as you can read below) as frenzy.rumble has achieved a nice Constructicon hue. frenzy.rumble goes into a bit more detail on how he created his masterpiece:

“Devastator is a combiner! This means he is 6 individual Constructicons that transform into construction vehicles, which combine into 1 gigantic Decepticon. In the slideshow below, you can scroll through the various pictures of each of these Constructicons, please note; there are 3 pages of slides. But if these aren’t enough, to see many more pictures (including how this masterpiece was created) search “frenzyrumble” on Google. (It should be the 1st result returned)There are over 30 points of articulation on Devastator…. his head is on a ball joint, waist slightly rotates, shoulders move in and out, arms have 360 rotation front/back ways, elbows bend, forearms rotate in and out, all fingers (minus thumbs) have 3 points each, leg/hip moves outwards and back, knees bend, lower legs rotate outward/inwards, feet pivot on ankle (Mixmaster only.) I built this custom starting with 6 individual transformers, which I completely took apart, removed any factory paint, and primed with plastic primer, which provides a very durable protective under paint. All paint you see is 100% enamel. It’s harder, and more durable than the customs you’ll see painted in acrylic. Also, enamel paints are ‘color-fast’; meaning they will retain their original color for 10+ years, whereas acrylics typically fade after 2-3 years. The yellowish-green is a result of 5 different shades. The silver metal robot parts on him were painted in 6 shades of silver, to give the ultimate metallic look.”

PowerGlide Custom G1 Transformers Animated Figure by Jin Saotome

PowerGlide G1 Custom 797852 animated series Now that the Transformers Animated figures are out in full force at retail, we are seeing more and more customs week after week. Using a perfect base figure from the new Animated Series, Jin Saotome has given the Lugnut figure a face lift and turned it into one of the coolest minibots with his Custom Powerglide Transformers Generation 1 Animated figure. Although this figure is far from mini, standing at 7″ tall, Jin pays a nice homage to the little red plane known as Powerglide by closely matching the distinct rich red color that the original minibot was painted and also keeping the light gray accents. In the original figure from the 1980’s, the head was cone shaped as the figure did not have much articulation or hiding places for transforming parts so I like the fact that Jin did not try mimic this aspect and give this Powerglide a pointy melon and kept true to the facial features with a new head sculpt. Jin has many talents but one that I really appreciate is he is not afraid to give figures new heads (and sometimes he gives them two) to keep in line with the original designs.

Custom Stealth Starscream Transformers Movie Generation One Figure by Chih

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Starscream Skywarp Custom1 765784 generation 1 transformersA stealth aircraft is an one that uses stealth technology to make it difficult to be detected by radar by employing a combination of features to reduce visibility in the visual, audio, infrared and radio frequency spectrum. Well known examples include the United States’ F-117 Nighthawk and the modern F-22 Raptor fighter, which was the vehicle mode of choice for Starscream in the 2007 Transformer Movie. The stealth bombers I am familiar with have a black deco, like the Custom Stealth Starscream figure by Chih!

Starscream Skywarp Custom2 765815 generation 1 transformersChih’s not only provides him with a stealthy paint job, but he also pays a nice homage to Skywarp, a Decepticon Seeker Jet that has a purple and black Generation 1 deco. The nose cone and the wing trim give this figure its signature G1 appeal and Chih even went as far as coloring the cockpit glass the classic yellow/gold that topped the 1980’s classic seeker jet. Chih’s Custom Stealth Starscream is available on eBay so head over quick to place your bid!

Starscream Custom Transformers Animated Series G1 Style Figure by Crefigz

Tags: , , , , , ,

Animated Starscream 762526 animated seriesCrefigz pays homage to the Generation 1 Starscream of yesteryear with his Custom Generation 1 Transformers Animated Starscream figure. First off, the base figure that Crefigz had to work with is stellar. I am not a huge fan of the Animated Series but some of the figures they made are really nice but it suffered from a lackluster paint scheme, which Cregfigz has more than made up for. Not only is this figure a Generation 1 throwback, the way it was painted makes it look like it could fit into the animated series today. You know you have come across some talent when a customizer can take a figure and make it fit into the current scheme of the series. The toning on this Starscream is down right amazing, giving it the cartoon feeling. The texture of this figure is also something to note as the toning has been done so smoothly that it looks like a factory job. All things considered, I think this may be one of the best looking Generation 1 repaints I have seen thus far.

Animated Starscream 2 708898 animated seriesMuch in the spirit of his G1 counterpart, Starscream is a sarcastic, treacherous and two-faced usurper, who desires to be the leader of the Decepticons by overthrowing Megatron. However, his attempt ultimately backfired. As with all previous incarnations of the character, he transforms into a fighter jet, armed with his signature null-rays.

Laserbeak Custom G1 Transformers Figure by Shinobitron

Laserbeak1 756551 generation 1 transformers Shinobitron, my go to guy for G1 Transformers, has a unique version of a 1980’s classic with his Custom Transformers Laserbeak figure. The unique aspect of this custom is that the eagle version of Laserbeak does not transform into a cassette tape but a pretty cool robot! The reds, blacks, and silvers gives this bird the classic look that fans love. Let’s find out more about this awesome Laserbeak from the source:

“I believe one of these guys was made for Botcon a few years back but some people complained he lacked a classic G1 flair. I tried to pay homage to the G1 character with added mortar canons/ thrusters to his back and BA paint scheme that, when in bot mode, says “Hi I’m a Ninja and I look like Deadpool!” Along with the thrusters I have also made him twin canons that can attach to his side in bird mode and be used as guns in bot mode. This figure has super articulation and can be put into all kinds of neat poses to strike fear into your autobots!”

“Strength is more than physical”

Springer is a wise-cracking, easy-going, sharp-witted and somewhat caustic fighting Autobot. He has an unfailing optimism and good humor and courage beyond known bounds, and with it all, the willingness to sacrifice himself for his friends and the sake of his mission. Jin Saotome brings this G1 Classic figure to life with his Custom Transformers Springer figure. First appearing in the cartoon version of the Transformers Movie, Jin has given this figure a fresh look while retaining it’s G1 nature. The original Springer figure left much to be desired and was a very plain Transformer but Jin has given this figure a new life by using the Transformers 2007 Movie figure, Incinerator.

Ravage 761795 generation 1 transformers

Rack up another Generation 1 smash hit for Shinobitron! This week, he brings us Soundwave’s saboteur with his Custom Transformers G1 Ravage made from the Energon Battle Ravage. This is a huge improvement from the original Hasbro release and Shinobitron has really captured Ravage’s classic look as he kept the paint aps simple with black and silver. I liked the way he removed the ball attached to his tail and the placement of the Decepticon symbols was also a great choice, which brings me to my next point. It is the little things that make a huge diference and make a custom come to life or simply capture the real style of the figure and the additon of the circular discs to Ravage’s legs is that little thing that made this custom stand out and complete Ravage’s Generation 1 look. I have said it before and I will say it again, Shinobitron is one of my favorite G1 Transformers customizers so head over to eBay and show him some love with some high bids!

Dragstrip 760566 generation 1 transformersShinobitron has the knack of moulding and sculpting Transformers figures into Generation 1 classics. This week, he has created a far superior version of a Transformers Generation 1 Classic Dragstrip figure. Standing 6″ tall, Dragstrip has many unique features that make this custom a cut above the rest. What I like about this custom is that Shinobitron has taken many liberties with the figure but retained the G1 style look to Dragstrip. The original figure had a purple gun that mounted on the spoiler but in Shinobitron’s version, he has permanently mounted a silver blaster that is a great addition to the figure! I like the use of the various colors and the race car mode looks awesome! For more information, check out this one of a kind Custom Transformers G1 Dragstrip figure on eBay.

Custom Transformers G1 Sideswipe War Within Figure by Warmachine

Tags: , , , , , ,

Sideswipe1 788903 generation 1 transformersStraight from the War Within comics comes Warmachine’s Custom Transformers Sideswipe. One of the aspects I like about Warmachine is his ability to see a figure and truly make it his own. With this custom, he took the crossover Transformers/Star Wars Shuttle Tydirium and was able to look past the figure and see the potential to create a classic comic book figure. The paint looks impeccable and he has retained the G1 color scheme. I am really impressed with Warmachin’e work and this is your chance to own a one of a kind from a talented customizer. Let’s see how Warmachine made this great custom:

“Up for auction is a custom Transformers War Within Sideswipe modded from a StarWars Transformers Emperor Palpatine Tydirium Shuttle. I slightly modded a different head for him and added my own shoulder mounted missile launcher as well as a custom blaster rifle. Sideswipe is custom painted as seen in the War Within comics but with a couple more paint apps applied to enhance his overall look a bit. Now is your chance to add another character to your War Within collection. For the painting effects I used a combination of acrylic, and enamel paints as well as utilizing the drybrushing, panel lining, highlighting and wash techniques to achieve a more detailed look.”

Custom Transformers Galvatron 3 in 1 G1 Armada Cyberton Figure by chih

Tags: , , , , , ,

Galvatron1 749515 generation 1 transformerschih has taken 2 Transformers Galvatron figures, Armada and Cybertron, and given them a G1 makeover! He as the unique ability to take mediocre figures and changed them into works or art. He calls it a 3 in 1 figure but it is actually 2 figures that were given the Generation 1 treatment so if my elementary education has taught me anything, 2 figures + 1 G1 makeover = 3. Ok ok…enough math…what I really like about these figures are the subtle details that bring out the real Galvatron in the figures. I prefer the Cybertron Galvatron over the Armada (personal preference) but chih actually does the Armada figure some justice. The Cybertron version of Galvatron makes a really cool car updated with G1 colors. The custom sculpt for the head really brings out the menacing look of the evil one and the canon on the arm cements the essence of Galvatron. All in all, these are two great customs that Transformers Armada and Cybertron fans would be happy to own. Let’s hear how chih made these great figures:

Custom Transformers Ultra Magnus Leader Class Movie Figure by frenzy.rumble

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Custom Ultra Magnus 1 701906 2007 movieFrom the creative mind and hands of frenzy.rumble comes his one of a kind Custom Transformers Ultra Magnus.  Taking a Leader Class Optimus Prime as the base of this figure, frenzy.rumble has created a truley unique custom and is in a class by itself. To be honest, I was speachless when I saw this custom you will see why in the coming photos and description. To kick it off, I will let frenzy.rumble do the honors:

“This auction is for the leader class Autobot Ultra Magnus, which stands about 12″ tall in robot mode. Created entirely from my imagination. Every single wire, detail, screw and millimeter has been carefully and perfectly detailed.”

Custom Ultra Magnus 2 724216 2007 movieEvery aspect of this custom is amazing and from what frenzy.rumble has disclosed about the paint aps it must be bullet proof (8 layers + 3 coats of lacquer). I will first start off by commenting on the ‘Magnus’ robot, which is blue and white (pictured above). This is one of the best looking metallic paint jobs I have come accross and the blues and whites really pop, creating a cohesive looking color scheme for the base of Ultra Magnus. In truck mode, I love the huge silver Autobot symbol screams louder than a semi’s horn and is a great addition to the base Magnus figure. In his own words, he describes how the base is made:

“I built this custom starting with a leader class Optimus Prime, which I completely took apart, removed any factory paint, and primed with plastic primer, which provides a very durable protective under paint. All paint you see is 100% enamel. It’s harder, and more durable than the customs you’ll see painted in acrylic. Also, enamel paints are ‘color-fast’ meaning they will retain their original color for 10+ years, where-as acrylics typically fade after 2-3 years. The white paint used here is 8 layers thick including 3 layers of lacquer (clear coats) producing an INCREDIBLE shine (it’s even waxable with car polish). The first robot you see (in only blue/white) is called “Magnus.” The silver metal robot parts on him were painted in 6 shades of silver, to give the ultimate metallic look. This was done for the blue areas also.”

Custom Ultra Magnus 3 787443 2007 movie To turn Magnus into Ultra Magnus, frenzy.rumble has outfitted this Autobot with custom armor and has armed him to the teeth! Anyone could have stopped at this point and called it good with an Optimus repaint but frenzy.rumble has taken it to the next level.

Custom Ultra Magnus 5 739170 2007 movie The custom head sculpt and armor are what makes this custom unique and why this should be the Ultra Magnus to add to your collection. By donning the armor and head, the former Magnus figure takes on a totally new look and a bad ass persona. This is one of my favorite customs to date and to let us in on more detail, here is frenzy.rumble:
Custom Ultra Magnus 4 723793 2007 movie

“Armored Ultra Magnus: This mother is armed to the teeth. There’s enough firepower on him to melt the decepticon army in a few blasts. All armor seen, was created using spare and extra parts from other transformers and action figures. The armor actually snaps or is magnetically attached to the base figure. His smokestacks were actually made from a woman’s make-up applicator! The gun (shown in one of the last photos) actually winds up moves. The custom head was made from spare ZOIDS parts and a knock-off Transformer, and sits magnetically on the neck base.”

He leave us with teaser that only the winning bidder with get to enjoy so head over to eBay and secure your spot in the running to own this Custom Transformers Ultra Magnus figure:

“To make Magnus into Ultra Magnus, you’d need to actually perform a 3rd one-of-a-kind transformation (which I will provide to the winner).”

Custom Transformers Brawn Generation 1 Movie Figure by Warmachine

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Custom Transformers Brawn 785462 2007 movieI love the latest wave of Transformers Movie figures as they have revived the customs and have people putting on their thinking caps to see how they can turn ordinary figures into extraordinary works of art. Warmachine demonates this with his Custom Transformers Brawn done in G1 style. I really like the way Warmachine sculpted the head to give Brawn an updated, more menacing look than the cartoon counterpart. He used a combination of acrylic, and enamel paints as well as utilizing the drybrushing, panel lining, and highlighting techniques to achieve a more detailed look. The colors came out spectacular and this custom pays a great homage to this classic minibot.

custom transformers brawn 300x197 2007 movie

Brawn 737538 2007 movie Brawn looks on Earth as essentially a hostile environment – and he loves it. He is the most macho of the Autobots. He delights in challenges and when he faces one he becomes fully alive. He is strong, rugged and very agile – which is why he is frequently teamed with Bumblebee when the Autobots are in a mountainous environment – but it is his enjoyment of the challenge that makes him valuable to his leader, Optimus Prime. He won’t be discouraged and that helps the morale of the rest. He is hardy and enjoys a good joke, if it is not too subtle. His main fault is that he tends to be contemptuous of those not as tough as he.

Custom Transformers Wreck-Gar Generation 1 Classics Figure by Shinobitron

Tags: , , , , , ,

Wreckgar1 789739 generation 1 transformersBringing the leader of the Junkions back to life, Shinobitron resurrects a Transformers Generation 1 classic with his Custom Wreck-Gar figure. The updated color scheme works really well with this figure as I was not happy with the G1 Wreck-Gar’s color scheme of oranges, reds, tans, yellows, and browns. I like the way that Shinobitron has preserved the Fu Manchu’esque features of the cartoon version and the updated weapons bring a great look to the figure. Here is more information about this one of a kind Junkion Leader:

wreckgar3 300x218 generation 1 transformers

“Wreckgar is fully transformable and stands 7″ tall. He has 17 POA and comes fully detailed to resemble his G1 counterpart. My Wreckgar has a few tweeks that make him stand out. First of all he can be ridden by other member of my Junkion (if you so happened to win one). Wreckgar has an arsenal of classic weapons such as his energon ax, front tire shield, and his blaster. The shield can be stored on his back and the gun can attach to his left side! Got room in your collection for a piece of junk? Well heres your chance!”

g1 wreckgar robot 776611 generation 1 transformersWreck-Gar is the leader of the Junkions, and like his people, is a creature comprised of rusted scraps, dented odds and ends, chassis bits, and manifold parts – a walking, very powerful and all but indestructible Junkbot, i.e., a robot of junk. When he is hit by laser blasts and falls apart, he reassembles himself out of the junky remains of his body and available junk heaps that constitute the structure of his planetoid, and keeps right on coming. And his speech and attitudes are also a junkyard-like collection of languages and broadcast fragments overheard from all over the universe – scraps of T.V. commercials, soap opera dialogue, old song lyrics and valentine inscriptions merged with quotations from history given out of context. As Wreck-Gar might say, “Holy Mackeral, Mrs. Olson, your mountain-grown easy-listening sidekick, kimosabe, wishes you have a nice industrial-strength day. Film at eleven or not.”

Generation 1 customs, done correctly, are huge hits with fans and it is great to see how people make these custom thier own.

rampage2 244x300 generation 1 transformers

Shinobitron goes into more detail on how this custom was made: “Rampage is fully transformable and stands 7″ tall. He has 12 POA and comes fully detailed to resemble his G1 counterpart. My Rmpage has a couple of new features such as 3 sword that can combine into one! Not only that but the sword can be placed on pegs under his arms for storage or on his back when one is in use. The orignal Rampage has a gun and so does mine. Not only does he have his rifle but his arm attachment can flip up in bot mode to make 2 other guns!”

For this custom Rampage, the color choices are so much better than G1 orginal from the 1980’s and the oranges and reds are so much easier on the eyes. Overall, Shinobitron’s Custom Rampage is very well done and he did an excellent job bringing out the classic nature of this very popular combiner. Highbrow Custom Transformers Generation 1 Figure Made From Incinerator by Shinobitron

Tags: , , , , , ,

Highbrow1 799329 2007 movieThe new Voyager Class Transformers Movie figures are giving customizers a fresh canvas to work with. I really loved the Voyager Class Incinerator mold and I have been chomping at the bit to see what this next wave of custom Transformers brings. This week, Shinobitron has remade a Generation 1 Classic Headmaster with his Custom Transformers Highbrow made from the Transformers Movie Figure Incinerator. What a great mold to make for Highbrow as the Incinerator mold comes very close to the G1 representation of Highbrow. The colors match very well and the figure even comes with his Nebulan counterpart Gort.

highbrow2 234x300 2007 movie

Head over to eBay to view more Custom Transformers figures.

Highbrow5 726561 2007 movie

Highbrow considers warfare a barbaric solution to problems, worthy of only the most primitive sentient creatures. He believes civilized folk should talk about their differences, a talent for which he seemingly has an endless capacity. Hardhead claims that Highbrow’s voice box burns enough fuel by itself to power all the Nebulan Autobots for a year. Although that is doubtful, Highbrow does talk a lot and uses a lot of words that nobody understands. Even Chromedome often finds himself fruitlessly searching through his extensive vocabulary. Highbrow considers himself intellectually superior to the Nebulans and other Autobots. They think he’s a self-righteous snob. Highbrow’s biggest disappointment in life is that circumstance has forced him to lower himself to participate in the very activity he most loathes – fighting. Gort, Highbrow’s Nebulan partner, is quite a contrast. He’s a cheerful young man with never an unkind word for anyone. Spurred by concern for protecting his planet, he overcame his working-class origins as a stable boy for an exclusive Nebulan country club that catered to the aristocracy to join the elite ranks of the Headmasters. He is much admired by his comrades for his earnestness, common sense and courage – except for Highbrow, who finds it a humiliating, humbling experience to be binary-bonded to such a commoner. Young women all over Nebulos are attracted to the boyishly handsome hero, but Gort remains steadfastly faithful to his long-time girlfriend, Marita. Gort is the All-American boy of the Nebulan Autobot Headmasters.

Custom Transformers Minibot Beachcomber G1 Figure by Shinobitron

Tags: , , , , , , ,

Beachcomber1 768274 generation 1 transformersSecond in Shinobitron’s minibot collection, he pays hommage to a Generation 1 Classic with his Custom Transformers Minibot Beachcomber. Repurposing a Transformers Cybertron Scout Class Swindle (or Hardtop) figure, he has created a Beachcomber figure that is very in line with its Generation 1 counterpart. Here is some more information about how Shinobitron has made this classic come to life:

Beachcomber2 781270 generation 1 transformers

“Beachcomber has been upgraded with great articulation and fully detailed exterior and interior. Beachcomber has been detailed with his classic color scheme, but the detailing doesn’t end there. Along with being given multiple shades of blue and silvers his mirrors, lights, and robotics have all been detailed. Beachcomber didn’t carry a weapon but used rays from his hands, however i did somethign for us G1 fans. I gave beachcomber interchangable hands to switch between normal and his electrum covered hand that he got in the episode The Golden Lagoon!”

Beachcomber4 781281 generation 1 transformersIn the Golden Lagoon Episode, Beachcomber discovers a lagoon of Electrum (some kind of laser-proof powder coating), in a very beutifull forest. The Decepticons will try to take this in their advantage, the Autobots will try to stop them and, finally, Beachcomber will try to avoid the battle in the beutifull forest.

frenzy.rumble had the vision to take the mediocre Transformers Movie Jazz figure and crafted it into a Generation 1 masterpiece with his Custom Transformers Movie Smokescreen figure. When I first saw this figure, I was thrown back by the craftsmanship that went into this one. I really thought I was looking at the original G1 Smokescreen as the colors and decals are a perfect match to the original. The paint almost has a glass appearance and it is really obvious that this figure was meticulously painted and matched to the original.
The G1 redeco’s are my favorite of the Transformers customs as the customizers who make these have a great vision for what will look great and frenzy.rumble’s customs rank up there at the top of my list! One of the aspects that sets other customizers apart is the ability to enhance their figures by seeking out parts that will take the figure to the next level. Let’s see how frenzy_rumble made this great looking figure:
“Smokescreen was built off a TFTM Jazz figure, G1 reco mold. His head comes from Armada Blurr, with some slight alterations. In order to compete against the spring on the head section, I installed a small peg behind his chest plate, this ensures that the head area and neck stay on a straight angle. Jazz’s ‘hands’ were no good, so I dremeled them off at the wrists. I drilled into the wrist a tight hole for a steel rod, and attached Gundam model fists onto the rods. They are articulated (spin) yet remain very tight. I removed some of the detail in his knee area, filled it in with some apoxie sculpt and painted with a deep metallic-red high gloss enamel. The pistols he weilds are from a clearance toy found at WalMart. I had the decals for the hood and doors custom made using a high quality 3M vinyl. The exterior was painted with Krylon Fusion Red and Blue, then robot mode was painted with about 99% enamels, so the finish is very durable. I finished him off with some Testors clear coats, all matte, semi-gloss, and gloss variations.”

Custom Dead End Stunticon Transformers G1 Style Movie Figure by grapes4mapes

DeadEnd 774992 generation 1 transformersHere is another great example of the many uses of the Bumblebee Concept Camaro with grapes4mapes Custom Transformers Stunticon, Dead End. Keeping with Deadend’s G1 likeness, the head is fashioned after the cartoon version and not the toy. I actually like the cartoon head better as the toy looked too human and had a gold face. Although there is a deviation in color (the cartoon version and the toy were maroon), I like his color choice better and it compliments figure nicely.

DeadEnd2 724410 generation 1 transformersYou can add this Custom Dead End to your Transformers Bumblebee collection as this excellent piece is available on eBay!

If you want to read more about Dead End, please do so below.

deadend1 generation 1 transformersSullen and fatalistic, Dead End sees little reason to continue the Autobot-Decepticon War since all Transformers eventually become inoperative anyway, even though it might take tens of thousands of years. Yet he spends more time keeping himself unmarred and shiny than any of his fellow Stunticons, an irony not lost upon Motormaster, who speculates that Dead End wants to at least make sure he leaves a pretty wreck when he dies. This vanity leads to a lot of teasing and derision directed toward Dead End, which just makes him feel worse. The only thing that can lift his spirits is blasting Autobots in battle, despite what he says about the pointlessness of it all. It seems he’s too busy trying to save his own life to get depressed about the possibility of losing it.

Custom Transformers Warpath Generation 1 Classic by chris-morada

WarpathG1 1 742808 generation 1 transformers
chris-morada puts his mad skills and creativity to work and brings us his version of Warpath, the 1985 Generation 1 minibot. This is another great example of the Transformers Movie toys be repurposed into Generation 1 Classics. His Custom Transformers Warpath pays a great tribute to the little ole’ tank that came on the scene in 1985 and was a nice addition to the minibot line. The colors that chris-morada chose for this custom really compliments the likeness of Warpath, and he has taken it to the next level with a custom head sculpt, which resembles the Warpath from yesteryear. One of the things that sets customizers apart from each other is the ability to sculpt the parts they need to get the job done. Without the custom head, this Warpath would have turned out very different.
WarpathG1 3 708852 generation 1 transformerschris tells us how he made this timeless classic, “So exactly how did I make him or which Transformers toy did I use to make this radical custom figure? To answer these questions, I basically mix and matched parts from both Deluxe Wrekage (Head, Hands) and Deluxe Brawl and I ended up with this radical figure. Did I mention, his head was made from scratch! Indeed I sculptured his head, I used Wreckage’s head for the base and then applied Apoxie sculpt (professional sculpture clay), from there I pretty much sculptured his head to look like Warpath. As for paint, I use the usual durable paint, Testors Acrylics, the best paint out there or one of the best paints out there, but this one is my #1 choice. Anyways, this action figure can be posed and handled, just don’t hand this action figure investment to a child or pet or else…”

This awesome Transformers figure is available on eBay so bid on this Custom Generation 1 Warpath figure and own great piece of G1 history.

Custom Transformers Hot Rod Generation 1 by deathwind000

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Hot Rod 3 725175 generation 1 transformers “My actions speak louder than my words.”
deathwind000 takes the run of the mill Bumblebee 2008 Camaro and turns it into a Generation 1 Classic with this Custom Hot Rod. This is another great example of a talented customizer taking a great base and doing something extraordinary with it. In robot mode, I like the way deathwind000 did the metal paint aps on the arms and legs, giving them a weathered look and a feeling that Hot Rod has seen some action. He chose a great shade of red and the flames pay a nice homage to this G1 classic. An awesome license plate decal which says “Hot Stuff” rounds off the figure as well as the great head choice. This Custom Hot Rod ranks as one of the best G1 customs made out of a Transformers Movie Bumblebee. I know it is the holidays but put deathwind000’s Custom Hot Rod on your watch list on eBay and be sure to make this one your own!
Hot Rod 4 725195 generation 1 transformers
More about Hot Rod
Hot Rod is the all-American-boy Autobot. Not too sweet, not too sharp, not too snotty… not a goodie-goodie, but basically a typical adolescent who has dreams of doing great stuff and being as heroic and important as Optimus Prime and other famous and revered top Autobots. He tends to follow rules until they bug him – and he sometimes learns, to his regret, that disobeying wasn’t exactly smart. And he often acts without thinking in an effort to do the right thing – and this gets him and sometimes his friends in trouble. But he’s not afraid when trouble does arrive and is a brave and honorable fighter and friend. He is especially close to Kup, the grizzled old mentor of an Autobot, although he sometimes resents hearing “wisdom.” And he likes Daniel, the Earth kid, a lot. (In a way, Hot Rod is big brother to Daniel – a role model – and Hot Rod knows it and takes the responsibility seriously.) In robot or automotive mode, Hot Rod is sometimes hot-headed, but always a well-meaning, admirable “lad” and popular with all who know him.

Thundercracker Masterpiece G1 1 765545 generation 1 transformers

noise_maze has possibly made the most accurate Masterpiece Custom I have seen so far with his Custom Masterpiece Thundercracker. When I first saw this on eBay, I thought that Takara had made this figure but I read on and discovered that noise_maze had found the exact paint color to match the G1 Thundercracker deco. Made from the Walmart exclusive Masterpiece Starscream, you could not get a closer match if you tried and noise_maze’s paint aps are flawless and applied with precision. The sheen on the figure makes the figure look metallic. The sticker aps are true to the Generation 1 Thundercracker and if you did not know you were looking at a Masterpiece figure, you would think this was the original Thundercracker from 1984. I like the additions of silver on the engines and on the missile tips, a welcome upgrade from the standard paint job. This is a must have for any Masterpiece collector as this will probably the only accurate Thundercracker made, even beating out what Takara could produce.

Thundercracker Masterpiece G1 6 786985 generation 1 transformersnoise_maze’s Custom Masterpiece Thundercracker is up for a fixed price on eBay and I would not pass this one up.

Warpath Generation 1 Transformers Custom by Jin Saotome

Tags: , , , , , ,

Warpath 003 786524 generation 1 transformers “A good shot is worth more than a good intention.”
Life was much simpler back in the 80’s. There were very few toy lines to keep kids happy, which included the smash hit Transformers. The toys were also much simpler to transform back then. Warpath, for example, simply needed a pull of the torso and a lift of some arms and a a head and and you were done! There something magical and nostalgic about the first minibots and Jin Saotome has captured that nostalgia with this Custom Transformers Warpath minibot. As far as capturing the essence of what a G1 Transformer is, this could be possibly be one of Jin’s best customs to date. Here is how he created this one:
“The main body was the Classics Megatron 2-Pack Ultimate Battle Megatron but his arms are Movie Dreadwing’s legs! If you open Dreadwing’s waist and widen the holes on the legs they fit right inside Meg’s shoulders. The legs were trimmed down so they folded forward and I whipped up some wrists/hands for him. Warpath’s head is a modded Movie Long Arm’s head. I crafted the front cannon out of the old Megatron’s cannon arm and part of Cybertron Longrack’s crane hydraulics. We use every part of the buffalo here, hah! The paint job is two tones of red and has tons of panel lines and shading. There’s a little hatch-camera-eye on the top you can move around and he comes complete with a rubsign on the front of the vehicle just like the G1 version. There’s rare earth magnets (one under the rubsign) that hold the cannon and camera-hatch on. I hope I paid the little guy homage with this figure, enjoy!”

Warpath 008 742624 generation 1 transformersJin definately paid homage with this figure and you can have a chance to own this peice of Transformers Generation 1 history with this Custom G1 Warpath figure.

warpath 008 300x210 generation 1 transformers

More about Warpath
warpath 733592 generation 1 transformersWarpath thinks he’s a lot more impressive than his comrades do. Certainly, no one would argue with his sharp-shooting ability. It just seems at times he’s more concerned with showing off than the welfare of the Autobots as a whole. But his boisterous, loud-mouthed personality makes him welcome company and his raucous sense of humor can bring cheer to the gloomiest situations. Only one thing seems to upset him: any small nick or scratch to his gun barrel. He’s both very proud and very vain about his weapon. His comrades fear that if his gun ever suffered anything as big as a dent, Warpath might be too depressed to speak for a month!

Ultra Magnus Custom Transformers Generation 1 Style by Jin Saotome

UltraMagnus 001 754057 generation 1 transformersWho can take a Star Wars Transformers Turbo Tank and craft it into the legendary Generation 1 Ultra Magnus? It is none other than Jin Saotome, Transformers customizer extraordinaire! This week he has stayed true to the classic G1 color scheme with the good ole’ fashion red, white, and blue paint aps. What I like about the paint scheme is the weathered look to the figure, giving him a more mechanical look. This also is not your average run of the mill Optimus Prime repaint, Jin has seriously taken this custom to the next level as he had the forsight to see that a Star Wars Transformers Turbo Tank would make a killer Ultra Magnus custom. Here is a little more about this figure, straight from the horses mouth:

“This auction is for an 8″ tall Custom Ultra Magnus Transformers figure with twin removable smokestack cannons. He has multiple points of articulation meaning you can pose him in all sorts of awesome eat-everything poses and he’ll look great in every one. Transforming Magnusl won’t affect the paint job and he converts from robot to Cybertronian-troop-carrier mode easily.

UltraMagnus 007 724519 generation 1 transformers“This is the first Ultra Magnus custom I’ve done to be honest. I’ve had thousands of requests to do a UM but didn’t want to do a repaint of Prime. So I bided my time, waiting for the perfect base figure to come along…And it did! Ultra Magnus transforms into a Cybertronian style troop-carrier that looks like it could roll through just about any Decepticon in his path. He’s pretty tall in robot form and can wield his twin extending smokestack cannons for weapons. He’s not done in my usual paint style as this time I went for a clean look with panel lines and different shades of color on full sections. I guess he just went through the car wash, he’s brightly colored in the cartoons and why not this time right? He’s still very detailed and fits right in with the normal Classics line, if you can get past the fact he’s not actually a semi. I’m going for something different here! So… need a really unique Ultra Magnus for your growing Transformers collection? Know a friend who’ll be like, “Hey, isn’t that Turbo Tank with two wheels missing?” when you give this to them for Christmas? Then don’t pass this auction up!”

Like Jin said, don’t pass this one up and head over to eBay and place your bid early for his Custom Transformers Ultra Magnus!ultramagnus 004 300x262 generation 1 transformers

Ever since the Transformers Classics line came out, I have been waiting for someone to do the Classics Megatron justice. The original was a train wreck mix of greens, blues, blacks, and oranges and was a let down with respect to the original Generation 1 Megatron paint scheme, which I thought the Classics Line was supposed to pay respect to. For the most part, the Classics Line delivered (aside from Megs) but luckily there are talented customizers who can look past the myriad of crappy colors, which were probably a result of a poor focus group when they decided on the paint aps.
Jin Saotome, in his latest rendition of the Classics Megatron, has taken the original figure leaps and bounds from what Hasbro produced and made it his own with his Generation 1 style Custom Classics Megatron

. Jin even added some cool extras that I will let him tell you about:

“Megatron’s light-pipe eyes glow red now instead of green! Cool as that sounds, there’s even more to him than that. Megatron’s scope has a high-powered Laser pointer installed in it [Warning, laser radiation, do not look directly into the beam people!] that projects past my block as far as I can tell. Oddly enough the laser has a secondary mode that projects some sort of bizarre UV- blacklight from it. At first I thought it was just a blue LED but I now know it’s a blacklight because the clear green eyes of my bionicle figures light up neon-bright in the dark and it will charge my glow-in-the-dark shirt almost instantly. I wouldn’t look directly into this beam either as I don’t know the specifications of this device. There’s two buttons on top that activate each mode separately and you can replace the batteries inside if you need to.”

Custom Transformers Fortress Maximus Generation 1 Style by Corvus

Tags: , , , , , ,

When the Cybertron Metoplex hit stores, this gave Transformers customizers a reason to create on the largest Generation 1 Transformers: Fortress Maximus. Being that this is Corvus’ first custom, I am simply amazed at his work and his craftsmanship. Using the Cybertron Metroplex as a base, Corvus not only made a Fortress Maximus in robot mode, he took it to the next level and created the Base Mode!FortressMaximusCollage 720674 generation 1 transformersBackground and Concept
The conception of Corvus’ Fortress Maximus began when he admired the work of others who had tackled the giant beast of a Transformers. As he explains, “This custom/kitbash was one I had really wanted to do since I first saw it done on the Japanese boards, and another by Viagra Prime: Cybertron Metoplex into Fortress Maximus. I let the desire simmer for a couple of years, and when Cybertron Metroplex recently hit Dollar General stores at $19.99, I decided the time was now, and soon I’d gotten started on my first custom Transformer.” What a great story!

From Concept to Reality
It is one thing to have a vision but actually making that dream into a reality takes a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and imagination. Having a great base to start with, Corvus also used many other parts from various toy lines to make this Fortress Maximus come to fruition. Here is a list of what he used to create this bohemoth:

  • Superion Head as the base for Max’s head
  • Ball-joint for the neck courtesy of a Xevoz Alpha Centurion
  • G1 Battletrap guns for the forearm cannons
  • G1 Drag-Strip cannons stand in for Fort’s leg-mounted mortars
  • The Rifle is made from a KO Abominus rifle and an Optimal Optimus Missile
  • Waist-cannons were made using the guns from an Energon/Universe Windrazor
  • Dual-barrel Laser Gun was made from a G1 Streetwise cannon and parts of Energon Arcee’s weapon
  • Some mini-con ports from Energon Perceptor were also incorporated
  • Rifle-scope is made partly from an old, empty technical pen, and even a few pieces of a toothpick and twisty-ties
  • Left-over sticker sheet materials from the sheets for God-Ginrai and Optimus Prime
  • Junk parts he had kept around from old models, GI Joe toys, and even model sprue, which he used to make various items, especially the repair arms
  • He even made use of Marvel-Legends blister-plastic, and an old G1 Tech-Specs decoder

The Ingredients
Creativity is what makes this Fortress Maximus so special and no, Corvus did not use sugar or flour to create this custom. Corvus made extensive use of sheet, tube, and rod styrene, as well as Aves Fixit Sculpt for the alterations and original parts. Here is an example of how he made the autobot symbol on the tower in base mode:

“I made the autobot symbol on the tower by printing out a copy of the insignia, gluing it to a sheet of styrene with rubber cement, then carefully cutting out each piece with my x-acto knife. Once the cutting was done, I soaked the pieces in water to remove the cardstock and cement. Then I glued the pieces onto another sheet of styrene.”

FortressMaximusTower 791662 generation 1 transformersBehold: Fortress Maximus by Corvus
Mix around 50 hours of work, a bunch of parts from various toy lines, a ton of imagination, natural skill and craftsmanship, and you have a recipe you have the masterpiece that is Fortress Maximus! Corvus also runs a website and a board called CorvusChatter so go over and check out his other talents from this burgeoning customizer and artist. Corvus has a bright future in customization as his first attempt scores a 9.5 out of 10 in my book! For now check out some more pictures of his Custom Fortress Maximus.

Custom Transformers Ultra Magnus Generation 1 Style by chih

CustomUltraMagnus3 777218 generation 1 transformers “Consistency is victory.”
A commander could want no finer a soldier than Ultra Magnus. Despite his incredible fighting skills, courage and unmatched talent for improvisation on the battlefield, Ultra Magnus is most comfortable when carrying out orders, and is naturally uncomfortable if the mantle of leadership should ever find itself placed upon him. chih brings our readers a flavor of Generation 1 with his Custom Ultra Magnus made from a Transformers Cybertron Galaxy Force Optimus Prime. Out of the ashes of the Cybertron Prime, which was used as the base of Ultra Magnus, chih strikes a nice balance of form and function with other additions to the figure like weapons from GI Joe Black Ops and the addition of the Autobot emblems on the shoulders of Ultra Magnus. The whites and blues that were used bring Ultra Magnus to life and pay a nice homage to the Generation 1 original. The silver grill puts a nice finishing touch on the custom, which also mirrors the 1980’s classic! One of my favorite thing to see customizers do is to take a really unattractive figure (e.g., the Cybertron Galaxy Force Prime) and turn it into a Generation 1 classic! Take a look at the comparison below; chih has outdone himself and really made Ultra Magnus his own.

Custom Transformers ‘The Fallen’ Generation 1 Figure by Jin Saotome

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Fallen 002 784732 jin saotome customizers 2Jin Saotome brings us a reincarnation of ‘The Fallen

‘ with his latest batch of customs for this week. What intrigued me about this figure is the sharp contrast in color among the blacks, oranges, red, and yellows to create the fire effect in his gears and body (not to mention the huge flame coming out of the top of his body). This is truly a piece of art that captures a real force of nature – Fire! As Jin states in his auction:

“This auction is for a 6″ tall “The Fallen” custom Transformers Classics figure with removable side cannons, magnetic removable inferno flame, extra right hand, and spinning turret/claw arm. He has multiple points of articulation meaning you can pose him in all sorts of awesome “I’m one of the first Transformers, bow to me!” poses and he’ll look great in every one.

This custom has been painted with an exceptional level of detail, and with paint that’s not going to rub or flake off. The Fallen was one of the first 13 Transformers created by Primus and perhaps one of the coolest bots around. Why? BECAUSE HE’S ON FIRE! (Not literally as playing with the figure would result in your house burning down. But his character is supposed to be glowing like a furnace, always burning with flame.) The Fallen is detailed with various shades of… eh… black? Well the inner-furnace detailing are is neat part, done in orange-red-yellow tones for a real burning look! He does feature various metallic tones and weathering too for that been-around-for-a-millions-years theme. Flip out the turret and claw on his right hand and depress the lever on top for flaming-turret spinning action. The magnetically attached flames behind his head can be removed for transformation and the side cannons are removable as well. The Fallen transforms into an assault-tank and looks fairly cool doing so, rolling around and looking quite threatening. So, need a revamped Fallen to replace the chunky Titanium version that keeps toppling over? Know a friend who would bring this figure on camping trips in case of an emergency? (Kidding, it’s not on fire.) Then don’t pass this auction up! This figure will be shipped in time for Christmas in case you’d like to give him as a gift.”

At the dawn of time, Primus created new life, the 13 original Transformers, to crew his planetary form into battle against his eternal nemesis Unicron. One of these 13, his original name now lost to the mists of time, turned against his siblings, his creator, and his universe, and betrayed them all.

Thefallen 708831 jin saotome customizers 2

As Vector Prime was constructed to safeguard Space/Time, this robot’s function was to oversee the primal force of entropy, the aging and dissolution of order in this universe as presage to a new creation. However, this guardian of entropy became obsessed with the darker side of chaos and death, and in the black place these urges lead him, the betrayer found a new god, more suited to his nature. He turned against Primus and became the Fallen.

Now he is a being of power, darkness, and absolute dedication to Unicron. At the end of the first battle between the two Gods, for his treachery, the Fallen was sealed into extradimensional limbo along with his new master.

Custom Transformers Galvatron Generation One Cartoon Movie Style by Jin Saotome

Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

GalvatronG1 008 793278 2007 movieWho can take a Transformers figure that looked like it came out of a Lucky Charms box and turn it into a piece of Generation 1 Transformers Movie history? You guessed it! Jin Saotome! After Jin’s successful 2007 Transformers Movie Galvatron, he went back to his roots and created this Custom Transformers Cartoon Movie Galvatron out of the ashes of an Energon Megatron figure. I do like the masculine look of this Galvatron as Jin has focused on making him Gray and Blue (instead of the traditional purple). The cannon is a great shade of deep orange which compliments the figure nicely. As Jin states in his auction:

This auction is for a 10” tall custom Transformers ‘Classics’ Galvatron figure with removable particle accelerator cannon, and space-cannon attachments. Galvatron has multiple points of articulation, far too many for me to count and they all have excellent range of motion even for as large as he is. This means you can pose him in all sorts of awesome Starscream-threatening poses and he’ll look great in every one. Galvatron changes from robot to scrap Space Cannon and transforming him won’t affect the paint job. Just take care when moving his parts around as he’s a very large and hefty figure.
GalvatronG1 002 794389 2007 movieThis custom has been painted with an exceptional level of detail, and with paint that’s not going to rub or flake off. Here’s another taken on an old favorite, Galvatron done in a ‘Classics’ feel to him. First of all he’s huge, ten inches tall and fairly wide to boot. He has an imposing feel about him especially with his massive particle accelerator cannon aimed at you! The cannon can be attached on two spots on his right arm, on the side for storage and on his forearm for combat. And wow this sucker is a brilliant metallic gloss orange! Galvatron himself has been hand painted with various shades of blues/dark blues, weathered highlights, shadows, metallic sections, and given the full treatment of detailing that all my custom figures get. Even his eyes are two tones of red and yellow, burning with the need to kick Starscream across Cybertron at a moment’s notice.
GalvatronG1 005 729036 2007 movieBut what’s Galvatron without an alt mode? Throughout the years he’s been depicted as different things but it’s back to the oldschool look this time! Galvatron transforms into yes, a massive space cannon, complete with treads. His arm cannon becomes the tip and brings his size to over a foot long. A lot of care and detail was put into this figure to get him the right mix of G1, cartoon, and modern styling here, I hope you like him. So, did you want Galvatron to top off your unique collection of Transformers? Know a friend who would get a kick out of a giant blue robot? (yes, sometimes Galvatron is depicted in purple, but then he’d be competing against the X-men Sentinels). Then don’t pass this auction up!! This figure will ship to you in time for Christmas too, in case you’d like to give him as a gift.

Make sure you check out Jin’s awesome Custom Transformers Movie Galvatron for your chance to own this great piece!

“Unyielding resolve has no conqueror.”
Jin Saotome, master of Transformer customization, brings us a real treat today. Omega Sumpreme, one of the tried and true Generation 1 classics of our time, is reincarnated into this awesome Custom Omega Supreme, which I will let Jin describe in his own words…
“This auction is for a 10″ tall custom Transformers ‘Classics’ Omega Supreme figure with removable drilling arms, working scrap-magnet, scrap-claw, Dump truck minicon, and flickering light-up smelting furnace. Omega has multiple points of articulation, far too many for me to count and they all have excellent range of motion. This means you can pose him in all sorts of awesome Decepticon-smelting poses and he’ll look great in every one. Omega changes from robot to scrap metal foundry and transforming him won’t affect the paint job. It’s time for more Transformers Classics customs and this week I give you Omega Supreme Omega features two drilling arms that can be detached into separate vehicles. The right claw opens up and spins via a thumbwheel and the left drill extends and spins when you slide the lever. Add two AAA batteries (not included) and you can have the claw-drill light up and make noise when you spin it. Once detached you can transform Omega into a scrap metal foundry complete with a working scrap-magnet for hoisting metal chunks into his minicon buddy and scrap-claw for tearing apart slagged Decepticon wreckage into smaller bits. Inside Omega’s chest is the smelting furnace that lights up and flickers brightly, ready to process scrap metal into raw materials to repair his Autobot friends. (furnace batteries are included and you can replace them easily) Omega Supreme has been painted with many different shades, metallics, weathering, highlights, shadows, you name it. He’s been styled to resemble his G1 form while playing to the modern ‘Transformers Classics’ theme. So… were you looking for a giant guardian to watch over Cybertron while you were out? Know a friend who will keep trying to attach the two arms to form a rocket? (sorry, they’re drilling equipment this time around, heh) Then don’t pass this auction up!!”

Omega Supreme is the ultimate defensive force. Although he has great strength, it is his even greater courage which truly distinguishes him. Against overwhelming odds, he will stand unwaveringly and fight with every last microchip of his mechanical being. His fellow Autobots consider him serious, even grim, but those with insight know the reason why: the enormity of the responsibility placed on Omega Supreme. He is designed specifically as the Autobots’ last line of defense. It is his job to protect the Ark and anything else considered vital to the Autobot cause. He knows that should he fall in battle, chances are there will be no other Autobots left by that point to take over his role. His is a situation Omega Supreme finds both challenging and chilling. He would have it no other way.

Custom Transformers Movie Hot Rod by Todd’s Original Custom Designs

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

HotRod1 747264 generation 1 transformersTodd’s Original Custom Designs has a new take on a classic G1 figure with his Custom Hot Rod made from the 1978 Camaro Bumblebee mold from the Transformers Movie line. By using an Energon Rodimus head and matching the paint color pretty close, Hot Rod is reborn. The flames pay great respect to the G1 Hot Rodfigure. The weathering is nicely done and paint aps in robot mode look convincing although I don’t really care for the pinkish/purplish accents. I would have either liked a nice metal or a black for those parts but that said, it is a nice figure and I enjoy seeing movie figure customs as G1 classics.

Masterpiece Starscream Clean Version – How to Guide by revlimiter

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

MPStarscream2 727808 generation 1 transformers

Although few and far between, the Masterpiece Starscream in G1 deco is becoming a sought after piece. Once again, Hasbro has taken some liberty and deviated from the true G1 paint scheme but there are some clever people out there who figured out how to bring Starscream back to his 1980’s greatness. Building off of a post by Optimus Scourge over at the Transformers World 2005
Boards, revlimiter goes on to explain in his short tutorial:

Masterpiece Starscream Paint Removal 101:
1) Weathering: The weathering is way easy to remove and requires almost no effort. A little rubbing alcohol (I use expensive TARGET brand 95% stuff) and a stiff paper towel make this a 5 minute project. And the panel lines stay there! It’s hard to remove them, but I didn’t want to anyway. You can just rub off the weathering (Gently) and the pretty grey panel lines will remain behind.
2) Nosecone: That silver is really on there. I roughed it up with a green scotchbrite pad before and during paint removal. Just light scuffing to break the paint up, not enough to cloud the blue plastic underneath. And you just use the same alcohol/towel technique. I pulled the nosecone forward and held it with my fingers in one hand (that never touched anything else) and removed with the other. If you happen to touch the cockpit with a alcohol soaked hand, bad things might happen. Clear plastic hates alcohol.
3) Thruster covers: That paint is really on there, but scrubbing and protecting the blue tail fins with one hand got it all clean within about 30 minutes.

Custom Transformers Devastator Generation One – Destruction of Autobot City by bromen238pxk

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Devastator7 798813 generation 1 transformersbromen238pxk has outdone himself and created a scene that is surely sought after. He brings us this one of a kind sculpture with amazing detail. This Custom Devastator Diorama was built completely from scratch and definitely shows off the talent of this customizer. One of my favorite parts of this diorama is the facial expression he molded for Devastator, which brings out the ruthlessness of this Decepticon. Expressions are really hard to capture with customs, especially ones built from scratch, but bromen238pxk has captured the essence of Devastator’s character and persona. I also like the way bromen238pxk portrays destruction with the flames in the diorama, which adds the realism.

Devastator9 787345 generation 1 transformers

bromen238pxk gives us a little taste of how much effort was put into this awesome piece, “This auction is for my custom built and painted Devastator statue with diorama. I built Devastator from a variety of toy parts, as well as custom sculpted head, hands, arms, and a completely scratchbuilt diorama. The diorama was constructed from floral foam, sealed with plaster, painted and detailed. The entire piece is huge. The figure itself stands around 17 inches tall, with an armspan of about 22 inches. The base is 23 inches across the front, and 15 inches front to back. The tallest building stands 23 inches tall. The sculpture itself represents a scene from the 1986 animated movie. The Decepticons are blitzing Autobot City, and the Constructicons form Devastator to breach their defenses. Devastator has the sheer power to tear the city apart with his bare hands. This piece was a true labor of love, and has hundreds of hours of work put into it.”

mirages_boxes brings us the latest G1 reincarnation of a Transformers Movie figure with his Custom Trailbreaker made from Dropkick. The packaging is a blast from the past with the G1 style tech spec and box art. This is another great example of a customizer taking advantage of a figure who never saw the light of day in the Movie and turned it into a G1 Classic! Custom Classics Trailbreaker #2 Made from Movie Figure Dropkick. Figure was Dissembled, Washed, Masked and airbrushed. Legs and arms were than painted with chrome detail and battle wear. Custom stickers professionally printed on Vinyl were then applied. Custom packaging made to resemble the past with a piece of the future. Back has tech spec with converted art and I even have some transformation pics in back. Joints were masked to avoid paint wear but these areas are not noticeable easily. Galvatron Transformers Movie Custom by Jin Saotome

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Galvatron 002 778021 jin saotome customizers 2From the ashes of the Transformers Movie Voyager Class Megatron comes Jin Saotomes’s Custom Movie Galvatron. Michael Bay should be looking to the talent of the Transformers customizers for Transformers Movie 2 (sequel) ideas. In the movie, Megatron’s remains were disposed of into the Laurentian Abyss by the U.S. Armed Forces, along with the other dead Decepticons. Jin Saotome gives rise to Galvatron, Megatron’s soul embodied into to a new being. Movie Galvatron figure with removable back wings and firing arm cannon/cockpit. He has multiple points of articulation, far too many for me to count so I’m not even going to try. This means you can pose Galvatron in all sorts of awesome Autobot battling poses and he’ll look great in every one. He transforms just like the store bought Voyager Megatron and changing his form around won’t affect the paint job at all. Instructions are included because let’s face it these suckers are like skill puzzles sometimes. Galvatron 001 795291 jin saotome customizers 2This custom has been painted with an exceptional level of detail, and with paint that’s not going to rub or flake off. Handle it, pose it, but don’t give it to your little brother to play outside with. You’ll find that my custom figure designs are durable and look great as well. Now you can have the best of both worlds. By now you’ve probably seen the Transformers movie, right? Then you’re right, there is no Galvatron in there. He may show up in the sequel but this is my own take on Megatron’s second incarnation, mixing movie style and G1 style together with one figure. I created this custom from my own vision, which means you won’t find a figure like this anywhere in the world. He’s unique, purple, and spikey! He features poseable fingers where the wrists extend to give you an upwards/downwards reach, new detailing with spikes and such, a moving containment shield that contains the AllSpark energy that was released when Sam fried a hole in his chest in the first movie (mystical life-creating AllSpark energies not included) and a removable cannon and wing sections. The wings flip out into different positions and he really looks quite menacing despite being a large purple robot. Hey, if the Sentinels can get away with it so can Galvatron!”If you are unfamiliar with Galvatron please read on below:

As Jin states, “This auction is for an 8 inch tall custom

Galvatron 005 797739 jin saotome customizers 2In the year 2005, the Decepticons launched a failed attempt to capture Autobot City on Earth. In the process, Decepticons leader Megatron was gravely wounded, though not necessarily mortally. During their retreat from Earth, the Decepticons had to abandon many of their beaten warriors to cold space, whether or not they were beyond repair. Craving the leadership, Starscream also threw Megatron’s body overboard. Eventually, Megatron was approached by a being of god-like power: Unicron. They talked and a bargain was arrived at. Unicron would save Megatron’s life and provide him with a new body and new troops, and Megatron would destroy the Matrix of Leadership for Unicron. Deciding that a new and more powerful body would be needed, Unicron turned Megatron into Galvatron.

Jetfire Masterpiece Custom Transformers Made from Yamato VF-1S 1/48 by deafinoneear

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

the gang 776518 generation 1 transformers(Someone does not belong in this Masterpiece lineup! Can you guess who?)

The Masterpiece line has been a huge hit for Takara and the figure line keeps growing (Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Ultra Magnus, Skywarp). What if Takara made a Masterpiece Jetfire? deafinoneear shows you what it might look like with his custom Masterpiece Jetfire from a Yamato VF-1S 1/48.

I think I can speak for most when I say that Jetfire is one of the most popular Transformers from the Generation One line back in the 1980’s. As with any Masterpiece Transformers, collector’s love the scale and G1 molds that are used to portray their favorite characters. This custom is no exception! The scale for this Jetfire is very close to Optimus Prime’s scale (with Jetfire’s armor just reaching Optimus’ head) but without the armor Jetfire comes up to his shoulder. No detail was spared when creating this G1 Classic. For this one, I am letting the pictures do the talking so enjoy the show and make sure you bid on this one of a kind Custom Masterpiece Jetfire!

Wheeljack Transformers Movie Custom Made from 2009 Camaro Bumblebee by darthleon_customs

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

wheeljack5 799049 darthleon customizersUsing the 2009 Bumblebee concept Camaro as an inspiration, darthleon_customs brings us a Generation 1 treat with his Custom Wheeljack

Generation 1 Transformer. This version of Wheeljack is amazing! One thing that struck me about this custom was the excellent repurposing of the 2009 Camaro Bumblebee mold to make a G1 classic.
Wheeljack’s head is very accurate to his G1 counterpart and the faceshield that makes this figure unique fits nicely over the existing Bumblebee head. By leaving the mouth exposed and the top of the head, darthleon_customs takes Wheeljack to the next level by giving him a more robotic look with a human touch. In car mode, the detail on the paint pays a nice homage to the Generation 1 classic. Without overtly putting Autobot stickers on the car, Wheeljack can continue to hide in plain site, a welcome change from the original.
darthleon_customs urges you to bid early as I am sure this one will be hot and very sought after. Check out his Custom Wheeljack on eBay as he has more customs coming!

Beastbox Custom Transformers Generation 1 Movie Style by Fugayzie

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

bb8 782696 2007 movieGeneration 1 customs are always a nice to see, especially when they are repurposed from the Transformers Movie. Since there were only a handful of Transformersin the Movie (Bumblebee, Megatron, Optimus Prime, Starscream, etc.), Hasbro produced figures that were not in the Movie. One of the figures that did not appear in the movie was a video game controller named High Score 100 from the Real Gear subline.

beastbox 723981 2007 movie
If you are not familiar with Beastbox, read more about him below:

Beastbox basic function is an interrogator

His violent temper overcomes his natural curiosity

More willing to whittle down his captives with his fists than with his words

Few survive his interrogations long enough to reveal anything useful

Can record up to 6000 hours of testimony

Equipped with two compression cannons, which crush a target with tons of compressed air

“Speak now if you intend to ever speak at all” bbalt1 747869 2007 movie Fugayzie had a great idea to make a relatively unattractive Transformer in the subline into a icon of the 1980’s. I would like to see more customizers try and stretch their imagination and take the Movie Transformers back to the future and make more generation one icons come back to life. Prowl Transformers Movie Generation 1 Deluxe Custom by jin saotome

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Prowl 004 795419 generation 1 transformersOne of the classic Generation 1 Transformers is reborn from the 2009 Camaro Bumblebee Deluxe mold. Jin Saotome brings us this Custom Prowl, modeled after the 1980’s classic Generation 1 Style. What really sets this piece off is the new head that was put on the figure. In the black and white style of the older police cars, Jin really brought the features that make Prowl a force to contend with! With these awesome G1 customs hitting eBay, Michael Bay should be taking notes for future Transformer icons to include in the sequel!

Jin explains this custom Prowl in more detail: “This auction is for an 6” tall custom Transformers ‘Movie Prowl’ figure and soon-to-be-made weapon. I ran out of time before my auction but he will come with a weapon or two. I’ll have them added to the description before the auction ends. Prowl has multiple points of articulation, far too many for me to count so I’m not even going to try. This means you can pose Ratbat here in all sorts of awesome Deception-arresting poses and he’ll look great in every one. He transforms similar to the Bumblebee 08 figure he was based on and changing his form around won’t affect the paint job at all. Instructions for the 08 Bumblebee are included.

This custom has been painted with an exceptional level of detail, and with paint that’s not going to rub or flake off. Handle it, pose it, just don’t give it to your little brother to play outside with. You’ll find that my custom figure designs are durable and look great as well. Now you can have the best of both worlds. What do you mean you didn’t see Prowl in the movie? You missed him? Ah-hah, just kidding! While we wish he was in the new Transformers movie we can only hope he shows up in the sequel. However I really wanted to make him and this is my vision of what he could look like. Obviously he’s modeled after the 08 Concept Camaro as Bumblebee is but styled in a police-theme. Prowl has a super-slick-n-shiny paint job, clear red lights on top (sorry, couldn’t make them light up this time, no room for the electronics) metallic weathering and highlights on his robot form, and awesome police-decals! He has an all-new head too and transforms basically like the 08 Bumblebee. You can adjust his chest section if you want but I leave it flat for a more G1/Alternator Prowl look. I’ll include a weapon or two later in the auction, I was pressed for time and didn’t get them finished just yet. I also apologize about the blinding white on him, my camera really picks up light colors and there’s a lot of detail that’s blurry there. Sorry about that! Trust me tho, he looks stunning up close! So, need a cool cruising cop for your collection? Know a friend with a shelf full of police cars? Then don’t pass this auction up!”

Custom Protoform Soundwave Transformers Movie G1 Style Figure by rottensmurftoys

Tags: , , , , , , ,

ProtoformSoundwave 773940 2007 movie In the Transformers Movie, Autobots en route to Earth change their alternate modes into structures resembling comets for space travel. These forms are referred to as “protoforms”. In the Transformers Movie Prequel book, protoforms are the base forms for all Transformers on Cybertron (Bumblebee is portrayed on Cybertron as a protoform and later in the book Starscream, Barricade, and Blackout are seen as protoforms on Mars). Bridging the gap between the Transformers Movie and the Classic G1 cartoon of the 1980’s is the topic of today’s blog: Custom Protoform Soundwave.

ProtoformSoundwave2 745199 2007 movierottensmurftoys describes his custom: “Here is folks my version of Soundwave as a Protoform. He has multiple points of articulation and transformers just like this store bought Starscream counterpart. The two shoulder mount cannons are handmade as well is his head. The paint job made the joints tight so use care when changing. I use high quality Testors Model Master Acrylic paints. This is truly a one of a kind piece…don’t miss out.”

ProtoformSoundwave3 745214 2007 movieI share his sediments exactly! Don’t miss out on this one as I am sure Soundwave will appear in the Transformers Movie Sequel (Michael Bay if you read these take note! We want Soundwave!). Custom Generation 1 Hoist in the Movie Transformers Deluxe Style by strata32000

Tags: , , , , , ,

Hoist1 770986 2007 movieToday we are looking at Hoist, a Generation 1 Style Custom taken from the Longarm Transformers Movie figure. What a great idea! Take a vehicle that was used in the Transformers Movie to haul Bumblebee around and turn it into a G1 Classic. Using the recently released Longarm tow truck figure, strata32000 has created another Generation 1 masterpiece.

Hoist is another great figure from strata32000 (also see his G1 Skywarp too!). He explains more how he made him:

“Hoist was created from Longarm. Much like many of you hardcore Transformer fans I was very impressed with the blockbuster Transformers Movie this summer. I enjoyed the details of the robot modes best and like many customizers out there I decided to lend my own skills to create Transformable custom figures. When I saw Longarm I knew he had to be repainted in Hoist. It was just a no brainier. I took him apart, lightly sanded down the parts that moved/connected so that the figure could still transform without chipping and then masked all parts that I didn’t want painted. I then let it dry a day before I tint the windows blue. In truck mode he resembles G-1 Hoist pretty well, just a regular work tow truck. But in robot mode look out! He looks like a brawler. Hoist looks like he can do some serious damage to any Decepticon that gets in his way. His guns is very detailed and is a large part of his killer new look. I very carefully masked off the Autobot symbol on Hoist’s head. His face is well painted Now that Hoist is finished he needs his own package artwork. I updated his Longarm art in Photoshop. It now has a green face. It looks like it came off the shelf at any local department store. The package is in great condition. The bubble is clear and doesn’t have any scuff marks on it. I wanted to produce an action figure that hopefully Hasbro, Dreamworks, and Paramount Pictures will want to put in the next Transformers movie. This has the potential of being a concept figure. I hope that all you collectors and hardcore fans enjoy this piece.”

Custom Transformers Shockwave from the 1986 Movie by Jin Saotome

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

ShockwaveV2 003 772451 2007 movieThe Autobots and Decepticons, during the great Cybertronian War, crash landed on earth. Millions of years later, geological activity revives the warring factions – the Decepticons want to strip the earth of its vast energy resources, and the Autobots seek to protect the inhabitants of earth from that fate. And so an endless battle begins!

Only being 11 at the time of release of the movie back in 1986, I was eagerly awaiting the Transformers to hit the silver screen! I finally saw the movie and I left the theatre wanting to buy more toys! The movie was amazing and I still watch it to this day. The Transformers Cartoon subtly introduced new characters into the plot (for those who don’t know, I am being sarcastic here as the cartoon was well known for gratuitously adding characters to support the ever growing toy line).

Welcome Shockwave
One Decepticon worked behind the scenes on Cybertron and when Megatron lead his troops in pursuit of Optimus Prime and the Ark, Shockwave was to stay behind and guard Cybertron while Megatron was out to conquer Earths natural resources. Shockwave was stationed on Cybertron for four million years. Shockwave carried out his tasks on Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons were entombed on Earth. With little supplies of energy the planet had to dwindle. Shockwave briefly came to Earth and joined Megatrons troops in episode but returned to Cybertron shortly thereafter.

Jin Saotome, as only he can, captures the true essence of Shockwave in his lastest custom. The attention to detail is amazing (as usual) and as he explains:

“This auction is for an 8” tall custom Transformers Movie-style Shockwave with… *deep breath* removable right hand with articulated fingers, silver laser cannon hand, clear red laser cannon hand, light-up unit, missile launching claw with 3 missiles, gatling gun arm with six missiles, twin side shields, twin shoulder-mounted plasma guns, and Space Cannon base. You also get a high gloss black base with solid metal Decepticon logo to display him on, WHEW! He has multiple points of articulation, far too many for me to count so I’m not even going to try. This means you can pose Shockwave here in all sorts of awesome Autobot-annihilating poses and he’ll look great in every one. He transforms just like the store-bought one and changing his form around won’t affect the paint job at all. He comes with instructions because these figures can be like skill-puzzles sometime!

ShockwaveV2 008 734403 2007 movieShockwaveV2 010 734436 2007 movie

This custom has been painted with an exceptional level of detail, and with paint that’s not going to rub or flake off. Handle it, pose it, just don’t give it to your little brother to play outside with. You’ll find that my custom figure designs are durable and look great as well. Now you can have the best of both worlds. It’s time for Shockwave to make an appearance again and this time it’s on a grand scale! This particular figure commemorates my very first Transformer custom ever, a G1ish Energon Shockblast. I have David Willis of Shortpacked to thank for making me realize Shockwave needed a better gun-arm and TFmaster (God rest his soul) for asking, nay, demanding that I host it on Transtopia, thus introducing me to a whole new world of Transformers kitbashes! I decided to go back to my roots and use that same Shockblast figure but needed to make it special this time around. And boy are you all in for a treat!

Shockwave features SEVEN interchangeable parts that attach with rare earth magnets for a perfect fit. His right hand has articulated fingers and can be replaced with any of the weapons too. First you have his classic G1 ‘clear plastic’ laser hand that lights up. Swap that out for a more modern silver laser cannon that also lights up at the tip. Need more firepower? Lock on the rotating cannon claw that fires three missiles! What, need more? Then attach the giant shielded Gatling gun hand that rotates and fires six consecutive missiles! Wait, you need even more than that? Then deck Shockwave out with twin shoulder cannons and replace both hands with his missile-launching weapons. There are tons of combinations here. Shockwave transforms into a massive Space Cannon that you can customize to look as you want it, the twin Gatling gun shields becoming the main laser array and lighting up. It spins, rotates, and looks fairly menacing there on its special tripod stand.

Shockwave has of course been painting with the same detailed applications I’m known for with various shading, highlights, metallic colors, and he’s even been sealed for extra protection. With a little ingenuity you can come up with a gun-mode for Shockwave (check my site and look at the old one) but I won’t show it here because EBay will require me to stick a gaudy orange plug on the end, heh. The light-up unit attaches to his back and can be plugged in to the different laser weapons he comes with. So, were you looking for the Shockwave to end all Shockwaves? I’m not making another like this. Know a diehard fan that would be your willing servant for life if you gave them this? Then don’t pass this auction up! Now for the pics, and there’s a lot of them!”

There is still time to bid on Jin Saotome’s Custom Shockwave Transformer on eBay so get on it!
