 Sea Spray Custom G1Transformers Figure
The minibot from the 1980′s we have known to grow and love has turned into a biggiebot thanks for FrogDNA and his Custom G1 Transformers Sea Spray figure. Recreating the classic blue and gold vehicle in a grand scale, the head sculpt is brand new, which makes him look like his classic character but with a beefier body. As he explains, “I used matt enamels to get that cartoony look and several screen shots from the cartoon to match the colors and details. I added several shades of a custom blue and yellow, for a deeper look, but keeping the G1 style. All the details were handpainted, it also has several washes to bring out the details and it was finally clear coated with dullcote lacquer, for protection and a nice matt look.“ To view more detailed photos, head over to FrogDNA’s Custom G1 Transformers Sea Spray figure.

 Sky Lynx Transformers Masterpiece Custom
To commemorate the space shuttle Enterprise’s ride on top of a modified Boeing 747, I felt it was fitting to feature one of the coolest shuttle Transformers from 80′s. Maintaining all 6 original modes (shuttle, tank, transport shuttle, lion, bird, and griffon), GetRightRobot (GRR) has created a masterpiece with his Custom Transformers Masterpiece Sky Lynx figure. This custom is a marvel in both design, form, and function. Adding 6 LED lights to the figure gives it an added dimension while the colors cast a magnificent array of custom mixed colors of flat white, Ferrari red, and brilliant blue. The scale is quite massive as well and putting regular sized Transformers next to Sky Lynx really highlights the difference. There is also a killer video but you will have to click over to GRR’s auction page to view it so head over and check out this amazing Custom Transformers Masterpiece Sky Lynx figure.

Using the Mighty Hercules version of the classic combiners, TB Productions has created a very cool rusted, metallic weathered Custom Transformers Devastator G1 combiner. Custom painted with different shades of green which reflect differently under different lighting, TB has captured the classic feel of Devastator with a rough and raw look. There are super detailed photos over on TB’s auction page so head over there and check them out!

Omega Supreme Custom G1 Actionmasters Figure
“Unyielding resolve has no conqueror.” Sculpt-Bot, creator of one of my favorite Custom Steampunk Jetfire figure, has scratch built one of the biggest Autobots with his Custom Actionmasters G1 Omega Supreme! Taking his custom handle seriously, he has taken styrene and “sculpted” 95% of this figure into a non transformable Actionmaster. Let’s read more about it from Sculpt-Bot himself:
“He has 3 independent LEDs, one for each arm, and one in the head that lights the eyes, and the turret on the back of his head. All of the LEDs have a seperate battery compartment, so they can be changed if they run out. The canopy opens to reveal his face, and rotates backwards for a more streamlined look. He stands 2 feet tall at the tip of his wings, and is extremely poseable”
Using styrene gives the artist tremendous flexibility to create accurate renditions of figures from the past and looking at the G1 cartoon and Sculpt-Bot’s Omega Supreme figure, he has created a two foot tall amazing sculpture of this massive defense base in robot mode. To check out more photos and to place a bid on this amazing work of art, head over to eBay and check out Sculpt-Bot’s Custom Actionmasters G1 Omega Supreme!

 Transformers Custom Classics Galvatron
Ok…so there is something really cool about seeing the charred head of Unicron at the feet of MacrossFA-19′s Custom Transformers Classics Galvatron figure. As we know from the Transformers movie, Rodimus rips the matrix of leadership from Galvatron’s neck while Unicron explodes and his head floats off into space. Creating a custom “Triumph of Galvatron” figure stand, MacrossFA-19 presents an alternate universe where Galvatron is the sole survivor, standing over the obliterated carcass of Unicron. Adding articulation to the neck, giving the figure articulated hands, and scratch building the arm cannon really brings to the life the G1 look and feel we saw on the silver screen back in 1986. This custom ranks up there with one of the coolest looking dioramas I have seen. It just goes to show you that brilliance can come from the right pieces!

 Cartoon Style Unicron
Going for the most cartoon accurate representation of the planet gobbling planet (I guess that would make Unicron a cannibal), FrogDNA has created this amazing Custom Transformers Cartoon Style Unicron figure. If you remember back to the cartoon, Unicron’s colors are very basic given the large representation of grays and oranges, which FrogDNA has replicated very nicely. He even went as far to mix his own custom orange to get as accurate as possible. Removing the teeth from the chest, which was a suggestion from another customizer, Frenzy.Rumble, it helped to retain the overall look and feel from the cartoon. Using sculpting techniques and creating a custom mouth, this is the most realistic looking figure I have seen in a long time. The figure looks more impressive in planet mode!

TFC Hercules Custom G1 Transformers Combiner
Hot off the heals of his Custom Shattered Glass Devastator comes Xaviercal’s TFC Hercules Custom Transformers Devastator in a Generation One color scheme. Using the 3rd Party Transformer as the base for the figure, the classic nature of the G1 yellow-green paint app really shines through. One welcome addition to the color palette is the use of purple on various parts of the individual figures. For example, on Mixmaster’s cement mixer and Bonecrusher’s bulldozer front end. The addition of the color purple help to break of the overbearing green that the typical Devastator radiates. In addition to the awesome paint app, Xaviercal has also created a G1 inspired gun for his Custom Transformers Devastator so head over to eBay to take a peak at this homage one of the greatest combiners!

 Custom Galvatron Scourge and Cyclonus
Call it the trifecta of the post Megatron Transformers universe where Unicron’s spawn’s rose up from the twisted metal from the heated battle of Cybertron. FrogDNA has created custom cartoon G1 versions of Galvatron, Cyclonus, and Scourge, which is a first in his customizing career. One of FrogDNA’s strengths is getting that cartoon look and feel just right. The way that he paints the figures and shades them bring out every detail. Due to the fact that Galvatron was kitbashed and, in his own words, “some kind of Frankenstein,” the alternate mode was sacrificed to make the robot mode as close to the cartoon as possible. I am cool with that given that the finished product looks amazing.

 Omega Supreme Custom Transformers Figure
In the G1 Transformers cartoon, it appears that Omega Supreme is the largest Transformer. Decepti-Punk has made this a reality with his Custom Transformers Supreme Class Omega Supreme figure. Standing a towering 20″ tall, this figure is one behemoth of a custom. Not only one, but two Energon Omega Supreme’s and one G1 Omega were used to make this fully transformable figure, which is a feet in an of itself. Usually, when you build figures this tall, some customizers sacrifice the transformability of the figure, usually called an Action Masters, but Decepti-Punk used his skill to create a massive battle station. Keeping with Omega’s G1 color scheme, this figure is one of the best Omega Supreme figure’s I have seen to date.

 Custom Transformers G1 Defensor
Customizing is an artwork! Customizers, like JCartwork, pour countless hours into projects hoping to achieve and build products that fans will go crazy over. This Custom Transformers G1 Defensor is a great example how perseverance and determination can transform several off the shelf toys into grand masterpiece of a combiner we knew and loved as kids. The figure stands between 20″ and 21″ tall and has over 20 points of articulation, something the toys from the 80′s were lacking. Sometimes customizers share how much effort goes into thier work so here to tell us about it is JCartwork:
“Its been a while since I have any new kitbashes online to share .Recently I have decided to complete my long waited combiner Defensor which I have been working on for almost a year plus, on and off .Its a very anticipated project which I wanted to complete for a long time. Remember the first Defensor which FR and Ryan Uybengkee did it was really mind blowing experience seeing how talented these guys have injected life to those plastic not to mention other talented kitbashers as well which I have missed . I was really inspired and decided to build mine version of Defensor as well . The progress of making this kitbash is painstaking .I have changed serveral joints inorder to make it strong when combined . Took me alot of time doing research and keep on improving until its fixed . I have used the best quality lacqer ,enamel and acrylic paint ,so it can withstand any weather condition . And I have also created decal to make it more G1 accurate .Its the most time consuming and anticipated project I have ever done.”
One aspect I am impressed by is the construction of the figure and how this figure resembles the vintage Defensor with an updated kick! The old Defensor was too blocky for my tastes (that did not stop me from buying him) and JCartwork has really gone above and beyond with his Custom Transformers G1 Defensor combiner.

Xovergen Grand Patriot Custom Optimus Prime
Using the unique Xovergen Grand Patriot figure, Captain Cosmic creates a highly detailed G1 version of the Leader of the Autobots with his Custom Transformers Optimus Prime figure. The Grand Patriot cast is a very futuristic or Cybertronian style of the Optimus Prime. It goes without saying but the paint app on this figure blends the right amount of weathering and gloss for a war torn, battle hardened look. In addition to the recoloring of the figure, Captain Cosmic has also cast some additional weapons and heads that make this figure even better. Adding Battle Blades that fit into the fuel tanks pay homage to Prime’s onscreen movie styling while creating multiple heads adds to the display factor of the figure. In order to ease the pain of swapping heads, they come packed with magnets so you can easily interchange the heads. A ton of work went into this figure so head over to eBay and check out the other photos of Captain Cosmic’s Custom Transformers Optimus Prime figure.

Standing at an impressive 15″ tall, TB-Production & XavierCal team up to give you this Metroplex Custom G1 Transformers Supreme Class figure. I love when customizers put their heads together because you are guaranteed a superb figure when it is all said and done. The construction of the figure was done by Xaviercal and he has done a fantastic job at placing articulation where needed and replicating and scaling the large parts needed to pull off a Metroplex custom. The arms and mid torso are my favorite parts of this custom. TB-Productions put on the finishing touches to this great piece by applying multiple shades of white and gray overall and black and gray to achieve a steel like effect. This is one of the best Metroplex customs I have seen to date so if you want to see more, head over to eBay and check out TB-Productions and Xaviercal’s Metroplex Custom G1 Transformers Supreme Class figure today!

 Reflector Custom Transformers Figures
Reflector was an interesting concept and only available via mail away in 1986. If you were lucky enough to save up for points and a nominal fee, you could get your hot little hands on this G1 great. Colosal Customs has paid homage to this Decepticon spy machine with his Custom G1 Transformers Reflector figures. By combining a G1 color scheme fused by a cartoon look and feel, you get an updated style while retaining the classic nature that made these figures great. The original G1 figures all looked different and this custom makes all of the figures look very similar, which is a great concept! I like the continuity that comes with the figures looking the same as the trio act more like triplets than separate robots. I also like the way that the barrel of the camera can be used as either a spy device or a canon (your imagination may vary). To get a closer look at this trio, head over to eBay and check out Colosal Customs Custom G1 Transformers Reflector figures.

Perceptor was one of those interesting figures from the 80′s. It was not a plane, car, or other cool vehicle. It was a microscope and for some reason, the figure really appealed to me as a child and thanks to Area Nifty-One, he has paid a grand homage to the Autobot scientist with his Custom Transformers Commemorative Titan Class Perceptor figure. Starting off as a Supreme Class Cyberton Metroplex figure, Area Nifty-One received his inspiration from the 25th anniversary re-release of Perceptor. The Metroplex base figure is a fantastic figure to use as the alternate mode looks like a mobile laboratory where the Autobots can analyze any data the Decepticons throw their way. In keeping with the classic nature of the figure, the colors that were used stay true to the original as the reds, blues, and silvers complete the overall look and feel of the figure. To check out more detailed photos, head over to eBay and check out this amazing Custom Transformers Commemorative Titan Class Perceptor figure.

Custom G1 Masterpiece Grimlock in Comic Colors
This goes without saying (but I will say it anyway!) that there are differing styles and color pallets depending on the medium which you choose to consume your Transformers addiction. If you are a fan of the G1 television show from the 80′s or if you primarily read comics, you will notice stark differences in the styling and features of your favorite characters. That said, Wilestbilame has taken one of the coolest Masterpiece figures and gave it a comic color makeover with his Custom Transformers G1 Comic Color Masterpiece Grimlock figure. The blue, red, and gold colors are so vibrant, really bringing the comic character to life. I always love a great back story on why customers choose to make the figures they do so here to tell us about it is Wilestbilame himself:
“Ever since I was a kid I always loved Grimlock, especially the Marvel comics version, giving Grimlock a more cold, savage and strategical personality to the character as the true king of the dinobots, so since the style I’ve been using being cartoon style, at times some have dubbed it as more comic inspired than cartoon, I figured it would make sense to bring the comic grimlock into the masterpiece line with a closer to the comics appearance than the MP-08x that came out a few years back, he features one of the coolest gimmicks ever, COLOR CHANGING Blue to Red and Back LED Eyes for both Dino mode and bot mode, with easy access to batteries for easy switching. Special thanks go to fellow Floridian Customizer and Tfw2005 member Big Hank for his masterful LED Work!! I gave him a high contrast cel shading with dark tones of grey, yellow red and of course his comic exclusive blue paint apps, detailed the bolts on his grey areas with a lighter tone of grey for a subtle but welcome contrast and although I kept the light up feature on his arm I painted the sword to look as if it were lit up all the time which dims the light up feature but I think this looks better for the style, I didn’t paint the crown of leadership simply because I like it’s blingin aspect that gives a good contrast to the cartoon look. I wanted to bring back the glory days of generation 1 by recreating this masterpiece with his Comic colors, one of the things I always loved about the cartoon and comic was that”shine effect” they were drawn with on their windshields and shading on their bodies, sort of as if the metal and glass had it’s own shine in cartoon style, so I replicated that effect through a modern method known as “cell shading” and panel lining across his body to bring out a true cartoon style adding a more dynamic color scheme far beyond the simple repaint. Optimus was carefully sanded and cleaned prior to painting, after which he was airbrushed with super high quality automotive grade lacquers and slightly detailed with high quality acrylics, and sealed with UV resistant matte inish to preserve his colors for years to come!”

 Black Zarak Transformers Custom G1
I have always been attracted to Shinobitron’s unique styling and artistic prowess when creating customs. So much, in fact, that I have been writing about his customs for almost 4 years! His latest Custom Transformers Movie G1 Black Zarak figure combines the classic colors with an update movie look and feel. Using the Transformers Movie Scorponok as the base figure, he has created a triple changer as this Zarak can transform into a Robot, Scorpion, and a Cybertronian Osprey Helicopter mode. Shinobitron is always thinking of creative ways to make his figures better and better. My only gripe with the original G1 Black Zarak is that the figure is too chunky and stalky but Shinobitron’s version gives the figure a more royal look and the body is proportionate in all the right places. To see more photos of this figure in his alternate modes, head over to eBay and check out this Custom Transformers Movie G1 Black Zarak figure.

Go big or go home! Xaviercal has definatley gone bug with his Custom G1 Masterpiece Transformers Fortress Maximus figure. Standing a gargantuan 2 feet tall, this figure captures the essence of the Generation 1 figure with the updated articulation and scale of the custom designed by a talented individual. There are many feature that have been packed into this great figure, including LED’s and scratch built parts. The hands and sword were designed and built from the ground up. A lot of work went into this amazing custom so make sure to head over to eBay and check out Xaviercal’s Custom G1 Masterpiece Transformers Fortress Maximus figure.

 Black Zarik Transformers G1 Custom
Combining efforts to create this amazing looking Custom Transformers G1 Black Zarik figure are Thyvipera and Thielmj. Constructing this menacing looking figure was Thielmj while Thyvipera finished it off with a flawless paint job. The figure takes on a Gladiator like persona with the way the head was designed, giving it a Roman feel while the the left claw looks like it is holding a shield as to defend against any enemy. The open sculpting of the mouth gives the figure much needed personality.

The color selection really highlights the features of this Custom Transformers G1 Black Zarik figure really nicely. The black blacks and the bold golds play very well off of the cranberry reds and the weathering that was done on the figure. In addition to the articulation that was added to make Zarik more poseable, the midsection was also extended along with the staff to round out a fantastic looking figure!

 Overlord Transformers G1 Custom
Usually there is little room for improvement with the Generation 1 Transformers line but Thyvipera has figured out a way to go above and beyond with his Custom G1 Transformers Overlord figure. Standing 17″ tall and featuring tons of articulation, this figure can be posed and played with in several different ways. As the Overlord figure came later in the Transformers line, Thyvipera accurately reproduced the turquoise and purple colors that plagued the figures in the later years of the line. The way the figure was painted makes each part stand out on its own and the colors are much bolder than the original figure. Complete with a new tank barrel and a new jet lasers in the alternate modes, this figure pays a great homage to original figure.

 Thundercracker Transformers DOTM Custom
What is the Transformers universe without Starscream’s sidekicks? Wilestbilame gives us a sneak peak at what that world would look like with his Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Leader Class Thundercracker in G1 colors. I don’t see many Dark of the Moon G1 customs so this one stood out among the great Transformers customs this week. The G1 color scheme and the striping pays a nice homage to the Thundercracker of the 80′s and gives the figure an updated look with the F-22 Raptor design. Here is the back story and the inspiration for this figure:
“While waiting for dark of the moon to premiere, it was announced that a version of movie starscream with thundercracker colors was in the works, I was excited hoping it would be an updated voyager or even leader version (dare to dream) much to my dismay it was a deluxe version, and while it’s nice and all I always felt that both thundercracker and skywarp where lost potential in the movie universe, they would have been awesome as leader class figures and even more on the big screen to say the least, but I said to myself no more! I also made several modifications which include include fully individuallly fingered articulate hands with movie accurate knuckle claws!(special thanks to fakebuster for providing these!) articulate wrists of 360 degree movement, all of this and still fully transformable! custom movieverse decepticon symbols, about 6 different shades of metal used for his metallic parts for a realistic look, meticulously detailed with different tones of gold and silver all the way up to his eye sockets! I literally searched every little detail where attention needed to be given to create one of the most detailed movie figures ever!! he even has individually detailed wires!! all of this done with the highest quality automotive grade lacquers, enamels and acrylics available.“
The exposed wiring gives the figure a more realistic feel and the articulation in the fingers gives it more of a human personality that comes through when you see the movies. It is great to see teamwork on these customs and Wilestbilame credits Fakebuster for proving movie accurate knuckle claws. It is amazing to see how each customizer chooses to spend their time to achieve Movie greatness and you would not think that adding articulation to fingers makes a big difference but it really does. Metroplex G1 Transformers Custom
Continuing with his G1 Tribute line, Malfunction brings us the great Autobot battlestation of the 80′s with his Custom Transformers Generation 1 Metroplex. Chalked full of articulation and the classic G1 color scheme, this retooled and enhanced Japanese reissue is a force to recon with. Here is the back story on this amazing creation:
“A battle base for the autobots that also transformed into an unstoppable robot force, how coo was that. The only transformer strong enough to take on Trypticon. Too bad he lost every time because he couldn’t bend his arm or leg…lol. This custom started off as an authentic Japan version re-issue Metroplex. So what I did was make a custom that didn’t move away from the original but mirrored the original at a larger scale with a lot more modern technology. Pretty much my main goal was to create a g1 figure that was more g1 than the original, 80’s style, with 2011 technology, and better proportions. And with a little bit of chopping, stretching, and bulking this is the custom I came up ULTIMATE METROPLEX.“
I really like the overall color and paint scheme as it gives the appearance of an actual functioning battle station with the carbon scoring and detailing. The over sized gun integrates into the station and provides a cool visual point of interest when the figure is in battle mode. With the figure in robot mode standing 16″ tall, this Custom Transformers Generation 1 Metroplex must be a sight to see in person so head over to eBay to own this great tribute to the G1 Metroplex.

 G1 Transformers Defensor Combiner
Standing at over 13″ tall, Matt1989cars has created this amazing homage to the combiner of yesteryear with his Custom Transformers Generation 1 Defensor figure. Although the combiners from the 80′s will still be my favorites, they lacked the articulation and scale needed to pull off the amazing battles we saw in the cartoon but thanks to customizers, we get to see these great figures in the proper scale with the cartoon look and feel we have always wanted. Not only has Matt1989 cars made the Defensor combiner as great as it can be, he also created a battle station made from all of the parts that form the combiner!

 G1 Mirage Masterpiece Custom
Mirage was one of the G1 greats of the Transformers line and Wikkid has produced this amazing figure in a much larger scale with his Custom Masterpiece G1 Transformers Mirage figure. Looking at the figure side by side with the original, it is clear that this enhances the classic version with increased articulation and overall style. A mix of figures were used to create this The base components are alternators Prime, Sunstreaker and Skids re-shelled with a 1/20 scale Ligier JS11 Ford F1. The head sculpt looks more like the G1 cartoon and colors are a great match, rounding out a very nice G1 Masterpiece figure.

 Ultra Magnus G1 Transformers Custom
What customizers do best is see how to make the figures we grew up with bigger and badder and this is what Malfuntion did with his Custom G1 Transformers Custom Ultra Magnus figure. Standing 15″ tall, with better articulation, scale, and proportions, this Ultra Magus is a great homage to the 80′s figure. The colors are spot on and Malfunction set out to create a figure that did not resemble an repaint of Optimus Prime and, to put it in his own words, this figure is a “ZERO parts-former meaning there is no Optimus Prime with a bulky costume on.”

Let’s read more about Malfunction’s inspiration for creating this figure:
“Neglected by Hasbro, Hasbro/Takara took shortcuts by painting Optimus Prime white and adding an add on kit then called it Ultra Magnus, why?!!! Even today, the masterpiece line releases a white Optimus Prime and calls it Ultra Magnus. When in the animated cartoon did you ever see Ultra Magnus remove his armor and a white Optimus Prime appear? So what I did was make a custom that didn’t move away from the original but mirrored the original at a larger scale with a lot more modern technology. Pretty much my main goal was to create a g1 figure that was more g1 than the original, 80’s style, with 2011 technology and better proportions. I got fed up with Hasbro’s laziness and came up with my own custom made ULTIMATE ULTRA MAGNUS.”

 Devastator G1 Masterpiece Transformers Combiner
Standing at almost 20″ tall, Colosal Customs G1 Masterpiece Transformers Devastator combiner is just that…colossal! This Devastator, with its scratch built head, looks mean and nasty and ready to take any Autobot on. The first thing that came to mind when I saw this figure was Revenge of the Fallen meets Generation 1 classics. One aspect that the Revenge of the Fallen movie captured with Devastator was a raw sense of destruction and mayhem and this figure captures that essence while paying homage to classic figure we grew up with. The scratch built wrecking ball and plasma rifle add to the menacing look and feel that Colosal Customs captured so well. This is the first Devastator I have seen in a long time that carries a massive personality in a well engineered figure! Menasor Transformers G1 Combiner
A little over two years ago, I featured MacrossFA-19′s Custom Menasor and I very happy to see that he has back at it. This Custom G1 Transformers Menasor combiner is better than the last one he made and even features the Hasbrotoyshop Special Edition Dragstrip figure. Striving to make this Menasor all he can be, there are a few differences to point out. Deadend and Breakdown have been created with different heads and the connections and joints have been made stronger. This combiner has some very subtle detailing on the arms which makes all of the difference and sets this custom apart from others. For example, the yellow and red accents seem to flow into the figures, which creates some continuity in the figure, which can sometimes get lost when the figures are so large like this. Beachcomber Transformers Dark of the Moon Custom
The minibots were the mainstay of many G1 Transformers collections. My friends and I had many of them and my guess is, looking back, they were much less expensive than the larger figures so parents were more apt to buy them. Beachcomber was one of those minibots that I had as a kid and Xaviercal has created a more update version of this minibot from a DOTM Sandstorm figure with his Custom Transformers Dark of the Moon Beachcomber figure. The basics Sandstorm figure was the perfect base for this custom and with the addition of the G1 style blues and silvers, and a modified head, Xaviercal payed a nice homage to this little minibot. You will also notice that Beachcomber also has a golden hand, which, if you are a fan of the G1 cartoon, is from an episode where Beachcomber found a golden lagoon full of electrum, a naturally-occurring element which would make any Transformer impervious to harm. After dipping his hand into the lagoon, it turned completely gold in color, which he hid from his fellow Autobots,

 Skywarp Transformers Gundam Style Custom
I am looking forward to DarkCaveCustoms’ latest venture if the next five seekers come out as great as his first Custom Transformers Gundam Style Skywarp figure. Built from a 1/100 HG Gundam 00 Arios figure with a head cast from a Classics/Universe 2.0 Drift, the combination of these two figures plus the classic G1 color scheme makes for a very cool and modern looking Cybertronian type warrior. The orange paint accents on the chest remind me of the canopy of the G1 Skywarp from the 1980′s, bringing together the cutting edge new styling while paying homage to the classics. Skywarp also looks amazing in jet mode:

As you can see in the photo above, the touch of orange on the canopy and the blue accents on the afterburners define the seeker in its alternate mode. As I said before, this is the first of the seeker jets to get this Gundam style treatment so look out for more figure like this Custom Transformers Gundam Style Skywarp figure.

I love it when customizers are not satisfied with the toys that are hitting the shelves because we get to see awesome customs like FrogDNA’s Custom G1 Transformers Classics Hot Rod figure. Disappointed with the head sculpt of the figure, he completely resculpted the figure to resemble the G1 cartoon, along with making other G1 cartoon enhancements. I love the windshield of the figure and the way the blue was painted makes it look like the light and the sky are reflecting off of it. I like the use of gray on the legs, replacing the factory red plastic. The striking colors make each piece of the figure stand out, rounding out its G1 look and feel.

 Bruticus G1 Transformers Combiner
I first got a preview of Forgotten Forrest’s Custom G1 Transformers Bruticus over at www.procustomizers.com and I was struck by the immense scale of the figure and also the attention to detail that was paid to honor the Combaticons. Standing a massive 19″ tall, you can see the scale of the figure in the photo above, this figure retains the classic G1 colors and overall look that we all knew from the 80′s. Another thing that struck me about the this custom was the attention to the really small details that not too many customizers pay attention to. Let’s read more about these tiny details that make a large difference:
“His custom scratch built parts include his hands which are ball jointed at the wrist and on every finger as well as having an extra joint on every finger allowing for an incredible range of motion. Bruticus also has scratchbuilt hip and thigh parts (which are movable) as well as his wing shield which was designed to be very generation one accurate as well as being posable (the wings are posable to allow for greater movement). Bruticus also comes with a custom scratch built head that is unique, in addition to his normal head you will also receive TWO extra heads, one that is very angry and another which has a variation on the eyes, creating a less visor like effect.”

 Custom G1 Transformers Cosmos
I love when customizers remake the Minibots from the 80′s because when they do it, they make them in Masterpiece scale and zeroadam12_123 has created this Custom G1 Transformers Cosmos on a much grander scale. Made from an amalgamation of different Transformers parts, this Cosmos is no longer a minibot but retains the G1 color scheme and look and feel of the little classic minibot with the pop up head and funny looking arms. This larger Cosmos figure adds a lot of dimension provides much more definition than the smaller scaled figures. My favorite parts of this figure are the head and the chest plate. Giving Cosmos different color eyes really adds some life to the figure and the Chest plate pays homage to the sticker that was present on the G1 figure from the 80′s. All in all, I think this was a very creative venture and is a great example of how great a larger scale minibot can look from an inspiration of the 80′s.

 Transformers Custom: Masterpiece Scorponok
Standing close to two feet tall, ThyVipera has created one of the coolest figures I have seen in a long time with his Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Scorponok figure. First of all, the figure is massive and has earned the title of Masterpiece! The detail on each piece really stands out due to the attention to the paint app as the black washing of the colors give each piece of the figure its own outline. Not only has ThyVipera retained the classic G1 color scheme, he has gone above and beyond by giving the figure a battle station mode (see below). Scorponok is not my favorite of Transformers but the way that ThyVipera combined the classic style with a more useful alternate mode makes this one of my favorite customs I have seen to date.

A lot of time and thought has gone into making this custom the best it can be. Some of the cool features of the battle station mode include it being “heavily armed, with 4 double-barrel cannons, and 4 missile launchers.” Figure, such as Cyclonus and Scourge that are pictured with the custom, can fit into the turret cockpits and both arm a cannon. Lord Zarak can fit nicely into the cockpit, commanding Scorponok into battle. To check out more photos of this amazing Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Scorponok figure, head over to eBay!

Soundwave vs. Blaster Transformers MP Customs
The pairing of two killer customs in a diorama setting is something you don’t see very often and ThyVipera has pitted the Autobot and Decepticon cassette bots against each other in breathtaking MP scale with his Custom Masterpiece Transformers Soundwave and Blaster figures. In order to create the scale and richness of these 9″ figures, ThyVipera had to make them Actionmasters, which means that they do not transform into their alternate modes, which is fine by me as the robot modes are more impressive and nicer to look at, especially the way the diorama sets them off. These customs retain the G1 look and feel we all grew up with as kids and to see how these figures scale in comparison to the figures from the 80′s, here is a shot of ThyVipera’s Custom MP Soundwave and the G1 Soundwave:
MP Soundwave Custom (left) vs. G1 Soundwave (right)
Another very cool aspect to these figures is the diorama, which you don’t see very much. These figures are meant to be displayed and a dio can really add so much more to the presentation of the figures. You can imagine this battle raging on the planet Cybertron as Soundwave and Blaster continue their epic struggle to retain their respective titles as the best outdated 80′s music players! Ratbat Transformers Custom
Customizers are always looking to make the toys we grew up with better and Shinobitron has done this his latest Custom Transformers Ratbat figure. I agree with him when he said that the cassettes have not “been given the respects they should have had” until recently. Although this figure does not transform into a cassette, Shinobitron has captured the essence of the G1 Ratbat figure and updated it with a more modern look to fit with the current line of Transformers figures that are on the shelves. The alternate mode turns into a combination shield/gun, an interesting concept for this figure.

While the robot mode has captured the look and feel of the G1 figure, the alternate mode takes a new twist to one of Soundwave’s minions as you can imagine this robot as protector of communication while Soundwave is doing his dirty work. To see how this figure looks perched next to Soundwave, head over to eBay and check out Shinobitron’s Custom Transformers Ratbat figure.

Runabout and Runamuck G1 Transformers Custom
Paying homage to the little Battlechargers that could, Zildjian gives these G1 pull-back motor cars an updated look and feel with his Custom G1 Transformers Runabout and Runamuck figures. Based on the Transformers Generations Drift figure, Zildjian’s Decepticon duo feature custom heads to resemble their G1 counterparts as well as custom cast hands. It is cool when customizers look at the overall figure and make modifications and adjustments when needed. It could have been really easy to overlook an aspect like the hands but it is this attention to detail that sets other customizers apart from each other. You might also notice the red on the eyes and this effect is achieved neither by paint nor Photoshop effects but with LED lights that can switch on and off. If you are familiar with the G1 Runabout and Runamuck figures, you will be very happy that someone took the time to update these classic figures so you can add them to your Transformers collection!

 Steeljaw Transformers G1 ROTF Custom
The Ravage figure that was produced for the Transformers 2 movie was pretty lackluster and there was not much it could do except turn into a cybertronian jet built for reentry back into the Earth’s atmosphere. Protis82 has put his skills to good use and has created a Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Steeljaw figure in a G1 color scheme. I don’t see many customs made out of the Ravage figure so I thought I would highlight this one as it is unique and it fills a void where the Transformers 2 movie did not provide any robots to counter Ravage on the Autobots side. The head was sculpted to resemble what Protis82 thinks a ROTF Steeljaw to look like if it appeared in the movie. Although this figure suffers from the alternate mode where it is just a reentry bot, at least the alternate mode is much more interesting and looks like the G1 Steeljaw we grew up with.

 Skyfire G1 Transformers Custom
For those who remember first seeing Skyfire introduced into the 80′s Transformers cartoon, it was pretty awe inspiring. As GetRightRobot (GRR) states, “The orignial Skyfire/Jetfire toy was “borrowed” by Hasbro and Takara and had to alter the character’s appearance substantially for the show. The Robotech toy looked so little like the cartoon character, that children could hardly recognize his toy on the shelf. Well no longer!”
Skyfire as he appeared in the G1 cartoon
I definitely have to agree with GRR as the toy version of Jetfire did not resemble the cartoon appearance and he has set out to correct this with his latest Custom G1 Transformers Cartoon Style Skyfire figure. I wish Hasbro produced a figure like this back in the 80′s as it would have made Skyfire that much more special. As you can see from the photo below, the figure as built using a G1 Jetfire but was modified to include cartoon accurate head, chest, backpack and rifle.
 Skyfire G1 Transformers Custom
With white figures, it is easy to lose the lines and depth needed to accentuate various features of the figure but GRR accented the figure with black lines throughout to make every line on Skyfire stand out. Leaving no detail left untouched, the gun was also designed to resemble the cartoon by using a double barrel, completing the look of the figure. This is truly one of the best Skyfire customs I have seen created in a long time and this would make a perfect addition to anyone’s Transformers collection so head over to eBay and place a bid on GRR’s Custom G1 Transformers Cartoon Style Skyfire figure.

 Alpha Trion Transformers Custom
Since the teaser trailer from Transformers 3 was released there has been a lot of speculation as to which robot was within the depth of the space craft that crashed on the Dark Side of the Moon (sorry…had to throw in a Pink Floyd reference there). Some thought it was Vector Prime, Unicron, Sentinal Prime, and even Alpha Trion, which brings me to GetRightRobot’s latest Custom Transformers Alpha Trion figure. Fashioning his figure after the G1 cartoon version, GetRightRobot strove for cartoon accuracy and boy did he nail it. Let’s read more about this great figure from GetRightRobot himself:
“Never before has the more youthful, A3 been represented as a custom figure. A3 has a utilitarian transport truck mode that was common for Autobots of his time. He reflects the sleek robot designs of his era without the added armor and weapons that are found on all Cybertronians after the Great War. This figure has been heavily customized and features a one-of-a-kind, cartoon accurate head. He maintains great articulation and wonderful color accuracy. As with many elders in fiction, Alpha Trion was ancient beyond the memory of most Cybertronians still living. Only he remembers his own origins. This Alpha Trion has the armor, cape and beard that make him such a recognizable hero. He also carries his massive sword, adorned with the symbol of the Quintesson slave race.”

 Overlord G1 Transformers Custom
As Gene Wilder said in the classic movie, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Facory, “Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple.” In this case the 93% perspiration applies as Encline Designs and Primo join forces to create an homage to the comic and G1 version of this massive Transformer with their Custom Transformers G1 Overlord figure. Maybe they celebrated their triumph with some butterscotch ripple but that is not likely. Nonetheless, it is not very often you see to great customizers work together but when they do, great things happen! Let’s read more about how each customizer contributed to the overall design:
“NICK ROCHE has re-introduced the TRANSFORMERS fandom to one of the coolest, most evil, twisted and demented Decepticons/Destrons to grace the pages of a Transformers comic, OVERLORD. I know I personally could NOT wait until each month came and I could run down to the comic shop and pick the next issue up. What is even better, fellow customizer and friend, PRIMO was just as addicted. Once the series ended, we knew what we had to do…..bring Nick’s creation to life! Taking a G1 OVERLORD, and some donor bots, PRIMO did a great job adding articulated shoulders, biceps, elbows, hands, waist, thighs and hips, and knees to this bad boy. He then sent him my way. I hand sculpted the face to capture the essence of what was portrayed on the page. I extended the horns, added a ball joint neck, and some flexible neck cables to fill in everything, and did some other small additions. Then, to top it off, I painted this joint up in my usually fashion, airbrushed with metallic and flats, shading, washes and highlights.”
Capturing the look and feel of the comic was what they set out to do and they executed their vision together. To view more photos and to place a bid on this one of a kind Transformer with their Custom Transformers G1 Overlord figure created by Encline Designs and Primo, head over to eBay!

 Hot Rod Transformers Custom
Doing a straight up repaint of a Deluxe Rodimus figure, Solrac333 tries something new with his Custom Transformers Classics Hot Rod figure. Instead of sticking with the traditional flames on the figure, he wanted to do something different so he made a sunburst effect on the hood of the car. In my opinion, the choice of the colors makes the figure look more masculine and tough as the choice of a darker shade of red, red/orange, and blacks works really well on this figure. It was an interesting choice of color to go with an orange for the upper thighs but I think it blends well with the figure, giving it less of a robotic tone and more of an organic feel. The lack of flames also give the car a more subdued look, which is a nice change from the other Hot Rod figures I have seen.

 Soundwave Action Masters Masterpiece Custom
Featuring a cartoon accurate head cast from the talented Frenzy.Rumble, ThyVipera brings us this Masterpiece Action Masters Custom Soundwave figure. Standing 9.5 inches tall, this G1 Soundwave does not transform into the obsolete tape deck from the 1980′s but I find when you have a killer robot mode to display, why in the world would you want to transform it? The legs and arms feature a weathered steel look and a in addition to the killer G1 paint app, the cassette door opens and closes so Laserbeak can rest when he is not performing his spying tasks. The photos over at ThyVipera’s auction for his Masterpiece Action Masters Custom Soundwave figure are also courtesy of Frenzy.Rumble, which is very cool to see collaborative efforts between the customizers!

 G1 Masterpiece Transformers Cartoon Devastator
Shooting for cartoon accuracy on a massive scale, Forgotten Forest brings us this 15″ Custom G1 Masterpiece Cartoon Devastator combiner! In the Transformers cartoon from the 80′s, the television version, like most of the Transformers at the time, differed from their toy counterparts in very big ways, but that did not seem to worry us as kids. Now that most of us are adults, we are looking to customizers like Forgotten Forest to close the gap in accuracy and realism with their skill and talent. The cartoon version of Devastator was a very blocky looking figure, which went with the animation style back in the 80′s and this figure does an excellent job at portraying that aspect in the design. One of my favorite aspects of this figure are the three different head sculpts that were made for the figure:
 G1 Cartoon Masterpiece Devastator
As you can see, the three different head sculpts, which were scratch built, give Devastator the much needed personality that appeared in the cartoon. Not only does this add to the poseability of the figure, it brings the figure to life. Another aspect that I love is the scale of the figure, which you can see once you make the jump over to eBay to see this Custom G1 Masterpiece Cartoon Devastator combiner as a photo was taken with a G1 Bruticus figure.

 Insecticons G1 Transformers Custom
Some people see a bunch of Transformers and think that nothing ever could be made from a pile of parts except for customizers like Shinobitron. Combining parts from various Transformers, he has scratch built his first ever team of Custom G1 Transformers Insecticons. Shinobitron did an excellent job retaining the G1 look and feel to Kickback, Shrapnel, and Bombshell. I really like the head sculpts that he did for each figure and it is cool that he made fully transformable figures, which he is really great at doing. I have been writing about Shinobitron’s customs for over 3 years now and his creativity keeps exceeding my expectations. He has more photos of each individual figure over at his auction page so head over to eBay and check out his Custom G1 Transformers Insecticons.

To check out the scale of the figure, Unavermin posed the figure with an MP Starscream (not the most flattering pose for Starscream but he is used to begging on his knees for mercy):

 Action Masters Custom Devastator
Designed to resemble the G1 cartoon figure from the 80′s, Xaviercal has created this very cool Action Masters Custom Transformers G1 Devastator figure. This figure stands a gargantuan 17″ inches tall, which is almost a foot and a half of Devastator goodness. Capturing the G1 coloring and styling of the cartoon figure, Xaviercal has made this figure in Action Masters style, meaning that the individual Contructicons do not transform and separate from the figure.
 Action Masters Transformers Custom Devastator
A couple of features I really like about Xaviercal’s Devastator is the streamlined chest armor, which gives the figure a more unique and slim look to it. A great design choice was to make the bulk of the armor in the center of the chest piece, which achieved a more subdued, but overall effective, look to the armor piece. I always thought that the original G1 Devastator’s armor piece was a bit too large for the figure. The second feature that I like is the blaster that Devastator is toting around so you know that this Decepticon means business! Hungrr, Sinnertwin, Blot, Cutthroat, and Rippersnapper combine to form GetRightRobot’s amazing Custom Transformers G1 Abominus combiner. Standing at 16″ tall, this behemoth puts his G1 predecessor to shame. Paying a great homage to the G1 color scheme, GetRightRobot used 19 color sprays and painstaking took each figure apart (including the hinge pins) to apply the paint apps. The overall look and feel of the figure is a great translation to the G1 classic figure and the scale looks awesome compared to the figures seen in the photo below:

 Shockwave G1 Masterpiece Custom
Building upon Megatron’s G1 Military Commander, Sculpt-Bot brings us his Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Shockwave figure. This figure was built up from a “G1 junker” that Sculpt-Bot had lying around and he also had to scratch build the gun barrel, which he added a very cool feature. Since Shockwave is known as a computer with legs and is ruled by logic and reason, in Sculpt-Bot’s words, “this gave me the opportunity to make it a little more useful in his bot mode, so I put a built in, flip out, science station in it,” which allows him to analyze his newest experiments! You can check out the gun barrel and science station below:

Along with paying a very nice homage to the overall look of the figure, Sculpt-Bot managed to nail the G1 purple color that made Shockwave so special! To check out more photos of his Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Shockwave figure, head over to eBay!

 Superion G1 Transfomers Combiner
The aspect of combiners that I love learning about is what pieces and parts make up each custom and TFMaker has used some really great figures to make his Custom G1 Transformers Superion. Standing a towering 17″ tall (that is 43.18 cm to exact), this Superion figure has parts from Starscream (head), Metroplex (arms), and Unicron (hands). The technique that TFMaker used to paint this figure is awesome and the coloring retains that cartoon G1 look and feel to the figure. The shading and toning gives the figure depth and character while making sum of each of the parts stand out from each other. You can get a good feel for the shading in the close up photo below.

DarkCaveCustoms takes one of the Jumpstarters to a whole new level with his Custom Transformers Twin Twist figure. Although I bought this figure as a kid in the 80′s, I was never happy with it but DarkCave has made this figure look so powerful and menacing that I wish he was one of the designers of this figure back then. Taking full advantage of the Hulk Transformers Crossover figure, he recreates this classic Jumpstarter figure in a bold new way. I love the massive drills on the figure and the overall color scheme. The figure looks just as great in robot mode:

 Custom Transformers Dinobot Slag
What do you get when you cross a WFC Soundwave, G1 Slag, Beast Machines Triceradon, Energon Landmine, Star Wars Crossover Luke Skywalker, and Lego Knights Kingdom knight? That’s right! You get Joeyz90′s Custom Transformers Dinobot Slag. What is very hard to believe is that the the base for this figure was a WFC Soundwave but taking a closer look at the certain areas of the custom, I can see why Joeyz90 used it as it gives Slag that bulkiness of Dinobot.
 Slag: G1 vs. Custom Comparison
There are several features of the this Slag that are a significant improvement to the original G1 figure. For example, the the head sits higher on the figure and the body is longer, giving it a sleeker look. The face of the figure and the placement of the horns and frill (the part of the head that flares up above the horns) makes it look more realistic. Again, I had to do a double take looking at the laundry list of figures used in this custom but I must say that they all came together magnificently! Omega Supreme G1 Transformers Combiner
At first glance, you would not guess that Unicron9′s Custom G1 Transformers Omega Supreme is actually an Autobot combiner but he figured out a way to retain that the classic Gen 1 style with the added bonus of giving Omega the ability to separate into five individual figures. This is a concept I have never seen before (but that does not mean it has not been done before) and the figure is executed perfectly to give Omega the size and look and feel we remember as kids. Let’s read more about this one of kind Omega from Unicron9 himself:
“Rather than a tank, Omega Supreme’s main body becomes a heavy armored transport defender truck, still with a big red gun up top. Besides becoming an armored transport truck, there is another big difference in this new Omega. The main body/truck becomes a robot on its on, called simply, Omega. The side parts to the space shuttle clip firmly onto Omega’s legs to give him bulky shins and feet instead of the terrible legs the Energon Optimus had. The Omega Supreme team set also comes with an emergency repair truck with extending ladder, a transport helicopter, and a multi-laser drill tank for clearing paths with ease for the Omega convoy. Merge the team together to make the Autobot’s last line of defense, Omega Supreme! Omega Supreme’s spark power core lights up bright red with the press of a button, with cannon firing sounds. A switch in the back changes Omega Supreme’s sound effects to fit the 4 different vehicles. The front of the shuttle opens into an articulated claw.Laser drill spins when tank is rolled, or use the wheel underneath as a dial to spin laser drill in robot mode. Omega Supreme’s mask was designed to look like a flying recon drone when not used as the head in combined mode.”

 Predaking Transformers G1 Masterpiece Combiner
Dubbed the ferocious fusion of all five of the Predacons: Divebomb, Headstrong, Rampage, Tantrum, and team leader Razorclaw, L.K. has literally created a monster with his Custom Transformers G1 Predaking Combiner Masterpiece figures. Standing a towering 14.5 inches tall, L.K. has captured the essence of this massive Decepticon. This version of Predaking is less bulkier than the original and the the rage on the lion’s face in the center of the figures chest gives Predaking a fierce and intimidating look. I also like the decision to mute some of the colors and make them less loud as in the original G1 figures. This is number 12 in L.K.’s Masterpiece series and you can check out more photos of his Custom Transformers G1 Predaking Combiner Masterpiece combiner on eBay.

 Reflector G1 Transformers Masterpiece Custom
Only available through mail order in 1986 for those lucky kids who collected enough robot points and scrimped and saved their allowance to pay for the shipping and handling, Frenzy.Rumble created an updated version of this G1 toy/cartoon fusion with his Custom Transformers Masterpiece Reflector. The color choice for these figures is spot as it looks like the figures were pulled right from the cartoon, in their classic silver, purple, and green color scheme. Not only has Frenzy.Rumble added massive amounts of articulation (compared to the original figures), he also added some cool effects, such as a light up lens and a hologram of the Decepticon symbol on the view finder. Frenzy and Rumble PE-01 Shadow Warrior Custom Figures
One aspect of the Transformers cartoon that puzzled me was that the size of the figures would change dramatically when transforming from robot to alternate mode. With Megatron, for example, when he transformed into the gun, he changed from a two story tall robot down to a small handgun that could fit into Starscream’s weaselly little hands. Also, Frenzy and Rumble also changed scale as well but, with the ability to animate the figures, the cartoonists could morph their bodies to add cooler weapons and Jbarb78 has made a version of two classic G1 Decepticons with his Frenzy and Rumble Transformers Custom figures, based on the PE-01 Shadow Warrior. I love the pile drivers that are attached to Rumble as it gives him that G1 look and feel that was right out of the cartoon.

Omega Supreme was a cool concept in the 80′s but lacked sufficient playability and articulation. How many times could you watch him roll around in a circle on the track? Transformers Custom Masterpiece G1 Skids
Looks like 2011 is off to a great start with your chance to own this amazing Transformers Custom Masterpiece G1 Skids made by the 2010 Botcon Custom contest winner! Standing at 8 inches tall, this figure would scale great with your current Transformers Masterpiece collection. It is great to see scratch built pieces as it shows the talent and skill of how a customizer can take a normal 1/24 scale vehicle and create a G1 style Transformer. Let’s read more about how this figure was made by Duom himself:
“Skids was built from a 1/24 Tamiya Honda City Turbo, and Master Grade Gundam arms. Everything else is entirely scratchbuilt, from the legs to the feet, all the transformation mechanisms, and even the hands! As a robot, Skids is fully articulated, including: Ball joint and swivel neck, outward and forward swiveling shoulders, bicep swivels, double jointed elbows, ball jointed wrists, articulated fingers, outward and forward swiveling hips, thigh swivels, double jointed knees, and ball jointed feet! Included are Skids’ two arm-mounted weapons. Each weapon can attach to either the top or outside of the arm. As a car, Skids features realistic Honda City features such as proper hood mounted rear view mirrors, authentic Honda logos and decals, opening doors, and detailed interior. Skids was painted with resilient Tamiya and Model Master paints, and has been clear coated for extra protection. The Autobot logo, side stripes, and rear license plate are custom made decals. Bare Metal Foil was also used to add chrome accents to Skids.”
From the blue paint apps down to the G1 style decals, this Skids screams classic 80′s! Here is what the figure looks like in car mode:

 Warpath G1 Custom
The Transformers Generations figures are making great base figures for customizers to work their magic. KoOL T0yS has taken one of the Generations figures and created this Custom G1 Warpath Minibot figure. There is nothing mini about this Minibot as the figure is made from the deluxe class so we get a G1 look and feel in an updated larger size. The silver and deep red used on this figure compliment each other very nicely and the way they contrast makes the metal parts pop. Believe or not, the tracks and tires are my favorite part of this figure. I like the weathered gray with the gold rims. Here is the figure in tank mode:

 Wheeljack G1 Transformers Custom
Jbarb78 has found a creative use for the Transformers RTS Turbo Tracks figure by making this classic Custom Transformers G1 Wheeljack figure. Tracks is a great figure for the base of this custom as the overall footprint of the figure is a great start for a Wheeljack custom. Applying the classic white paint app with classic G1 sticker set, this figure pays a great homage to the mad scientist of the Autobots. If you look closely at the head, Jbarb78 has made a toned down version of Wheeljack’s antennas protruding from the the sides of the head. The figure looks killer in car mode:

Optimus Prime THS-02 Hybrid Convoy Transformers Custom
The Generation 1 Optimus Prime is by far the best Transformers figure with respect to his iconic and inspirational nature. The 1980′s demigod has had countless reissues and versions and this week, Lek has decided to give the Hybrid Convoy a makeover with his Custom Transformers THS-02 Optimus Prime figure. What I love about Lek’s take on this figure is that he gives us a window into the inside of Optimus Prime’s trailer, which, until now, has been a dull gray interior that left nothing to the imagination. Customizing the inside of the trailer, Lek has a highly detailed view of the inner workings of Prime. Ever wonder where Optimus goes after an epic battle with Megatron? Now you know! To see how highly detailed this piece is, I added a comparison picture with the original figure (left) and the customized version (right):

You can really see how Lek’s version brings the inside of the trailer to life. To view more photos and close ups of Optimus himself, head over to eBay and check out Lek’s Custom Transformers THS-02 Optimus Prime figure.

 Shockwave G1 Transformers Custom
[Disclaimer: The real Optimus Prime was not harmed in the making of this custom]
In all his purple Decepticon glory, KingOctoX Customs brings us his Custom Transformers G1 Shockwave figure. The classics silver and purple colors are reminiscent of the 80′s figure and the addition of the LED light is a great touch, which complete the look! If you look closely, you will notice that this figure was given a Masterpiece style had, which adds to the figures poseability. The cool thing about this figure is that it comes with a bunch of bonuses! Here they are:

Jazz G1 Transformers Reveal the Shield Custom
As the Reveal the Shield figures are making their way to stores across the country, customizers are already hard at work turning out awesome customs. Take DarkCaveCustoms’ G1 Transformers Custom Reveal the Shield Jazz figure as an perfect example of how attention to detail and a great love for the classic 80′s figures turns a mediocre Hasbro figure you would be proud to display on your shelf. Here is a side by side comparison of the off the shelf figure vs. DarkCave’s G1 custom:
G1 Jazz: Original Figure (Left) vs. Customized Figure (Right)
You can really see the difference a few applications of color do to the figure. For example, take Jazz’s upper legs, which have blue and red accents to really bring out the detail in the plastic. Not only has he created a great homage to the 1980′s Jazz, but the figure has a custom G1-styled Jazz Head mounted on ball joint for full articulation, custom Painted RTS Jazz Head, Custom modified G1-styled shoulder rocket and an accurate Martini Porsche racing decals. The car mode photos are not posted yet so I will update this article when DarkCave adds them to his listing. Until then, head over to eBay and gawk at his great photos he has taken of his G1 Transformers Custom Reveal the Shield Jazz figure.

 Warpath Transformers G1 Custom
The minibots always held their own in the Transformers cartoons and it just goes to show you that size really does not matter in the world of Autobots and Decepticons. Groovy Customs has a Custom Transformers G1 Warpath up this week that pays homage to the little Autobots that pack a wallop. Customizing is not only about changing the paint scheme on a figure but trying to get the exact look you are going for and Groovy has achieved this by focusing on making the G1 aspects of this custom just right. Although the minibots were very simple to transform, this updated Warpath figure retains the G1 look and feel of the head and massive barrel protruding from the front of the figure, which is magnetically attached and removable if you want to give Warpath a different look.

Galvatron War for Cybertron G1 Transformers Custom
Adding to the War for Cybertron series, Jin Saotome resurrects this Custom G1 Galvatron done in Generation 1 styling. Not appearing in the line up for the game, this figure is sure to be very sought after. The colors really pop on this figure, especially the deep purple. The scoring and weathering makes the figure look like he is fresh from battle. The G1 coloring is a throw back to the 80′s Galvatron, with the addition of the large orange canon, the signature weapon of Galvatron. What I really like about this figure is that no single body part seems to blend together as Jin has paid great attention to detail to ensure that each part of Galvatron stands out. Let’s read more from Jin himself about this cool figure:
“From the gaping maw of Unicron comes the most feared Decepticon ever, Galvatron! But this time he’s been done in the War for Cybertron series. Galvatron has been handed painted with deep shading, intricate robotic detail, weathered highlights, and sharp colors that will really have him stand out in your collection. He transforms into a space cannon we all know and love but also has wheels to act as a tank or hover treads. Check out his giant metallic cannon! It’s ready to blast a hole in any Autobot…or Decepticon that gets in his way. You can also store his cannon on his back or swap arms.”
In canon mode, the figure looks fierce and any Autobot in its way will get blasted to oblivion.

 Tracks G1 Transformers Generations Custom
Tracks is one of those throwback 1980′s Transformers that was a must have in the collection. Xaviercal has taken a Generations figure and turned it into a Generation 1 Tracks figure with some very nice touches. First, the hideous looking flaming hood of the Generations figure has been nicely transformed into the G1 sticker art we loved from the 80′s. Also, you will notice a nice red Autobot symbol on the roof of the car, which is set off by the yellow square that ties very nicely into the hood decorations. The paint apps are metallic and darker than the original figure. The figure looks stellar in car mode. For comparison, here is photo I put together showing the Generations Turbo Tracks figure beside Xaviercal’s Custom G1 Tracks figure:

Devastator Transformers G1 Combiner with Diorama
Customs with dioramas are always a welcome sight! The dioramas take extra time but they add so much to the figure. Take CS’ Custom Transformers G1 Devastator combiner. The artistic nature of the building lends itself to many interpretations as to the time period and what is happening as Devastator is ripping through the building. The way the building was designed makes it look like Devastator is stepping through second floor on his way to raise hell in other parts of the city. As far as the combiner is concerned, the overall paint scheme looks weathered, grimy, and battle torn, which goes great with the dio. Instead of just painting the figure silver, black, and contructicon green, there are other accents that set off the figures detail. The use of yellow, red, and blues gives the figure more a realistic look that gives depth to each of the contructicons as they are combined to the figure.

Skywarp Transformers G1 Custom Cybertronian Terajet
Kingbotz is kickin’ it old school with his amazing Custom Cybertronian Terajet Skywarp G1 figure. Fans of the 1980′s Transformers cartoon should remember scenes where the Decepticons and Autobots were fighting on Cybertron and the vehicles looked very different on that planet. For example, the seeker jets looked like large flying polygons and Kingbotz did an excellent job translating the cartoon version into a fully transformable 17″ figure in robot form. The seeker jet form also has a 17″ wingspan, which is pretty impressive. The Terajet is painted in the classic black and purple coloring that is Skywarp and I really like the weathering that was done to the figure. In robot mode, the figure looks intimidating, with the face giving the figure the much needed personality. I am really impressed with Kingbotz’s work as he stretches the imagination to bring a different style of figure. I hope to see more Cybertronian figures in the future as there is a big gap in that area so keep up the great work!

Blaster G1 Transformers War for Cybertron Custom
Blaster is one of my favorite Transformers from the 80′s and FrogDNA has taken a War for Cybertron Soundwave figure and turned it into this awesome Custom G1 Transformers WFC Blaster figure with Steeljaw and Efect. There is no mistaking this figure as the classic Blaster boasts the large bright yellow tape deck front with the large Autobot symbol on the front. Add the signature oversized gun and you have an updated version that will go great with your War for Cybertron collection. For those who grew up in the 80′s, we listened to music on these archaic tapes, which for me, that always seemed to get tangled and mangled in the decks they were played from. Although this figure looks like the classic character in robot form, the alternate mode takes a very cool form of a futuristic car, which I am sure blasts awesome music while driving over the terrain of Cybertron. Add Blaster’s companions Steeljaw and Eject and you have a great set from the 80′s.

Custom G1 Devastator Ultimate Transformers Combiner
As the weeks go by, the combiners just keep get bigger and better. This week, SonOfNemesis brings us a non-transformable Custom G1 Transformers Ultimate Devastator combiner. It is great when customizers get inspiration from others and give credit where credit is due. As SonofNemesis put it nicely, “His cast head and chest plate come from Ptitvite himself…I built him closely following the legendary design of Master Customizer, Ptitvite – so, many thanks to him!” I have seen many custom G1 Devastators but this one caught my eye because of the unique paint apps and cartoon feel of the figure. I really like when customizers explain their process and what inspired them so others can learn. Here is a great example in SonOfNemesis’ own words:
“This is where I had lots of fun with this Devastator! I painted him mainly after his IDW Comic Book styled color scheme. I also painted him to have a G1 cartoony vibe, but with realistic shadowing and depth. He has ‘several’ tones of green, ‘several’ tones of purple, and ‘several tones’ of energon in his paint applications. This was done in order to create an extreme high-quality paint job full of shadowing and depth that is worthy of at least a Master Piece grade. I also complimented Devastator’s color scheme with some nicely placed yellow paint apps given to add more appreciation. His most unique paint application feature is his Texturized Energon Effects which I applied to all of the Constructicons as well as some strategically place spots on Devastator himself. You’ll see these effects on Scrapper’s, Bonecrusher’s, and Scavenger’s shovels and treads as well as Mixmaster’s mixer and wheels. Longhaul and Hook have more of a dusting effect of the energon apps, and there’s some more dusting effects on Devastator’s chest plate, various edges, and one of his hands. I also painted his laser cannons to have a very cool blasting effect!”

 Bumblebee Transformers G1 Classics Custom
Who can forget the pale yellow minibot from the 80′s? FrogDNA gives this Classics figure a vintage look with this Custom Transformers Classics G1 Bumblebee figure. The Classics figure had a different color scheme that used a much brighter yellow with white accents. This figure’s main color is the classic Bumblebee yellow which is more subdued and the addition of the red Autobot symbols brings the figure back to its roots. Bumblebee’s face also stands out more in this figure as the gray color is a great compliment to the yellow overall color. Here is what FrogDNA’s Custom Transformers Classics G1 Bumblebee figure looks like in car mode:

 Windcharger Masterpiece Transformers Custom
Back in the 80′s, Windcharger was a minibot, which meant he stood about a 2 inches tall and had very limited transformation and articulation. Thanks to Shinobitron, Windcharger gets super sized with this great looking Custom Transformers Masterpiece Windcharger figure. This figure can appeal to many fans because Shinobitron has built out 3 different modes of transformation. Turing from robot to car is the obvious one and the other two involve different robot modes. One mode pays homage to the G1 character we all grew up with and loved (pictured above) and another version which is more like the Scout Class figure (seen bel0w). Giving Windcharger a Masterpiece styling means that the figure is not the puny minibot but a towering 9″ figure. Check out the photo next to the Leader Class Optimus Prime figure:

Optimus Prime G1 Transformers Custom with Trailer
Transform and roll out! FrogDNA has gone back to the roots of the Transformers line and created an excellent G1 Transformers Optimus Prime with Trailer figure. Using the Classics Voyager Class Optimus Prime figure and adding the BTS Trailer accessory, the set stays close to the G1 scheme with a few variations. For example, the 1980′s Prime Trailer has a blue streak on the side of the trailer and in FrogDNA’s version, the trailer is mostly a nice G1 gray with white accents. I love the addition of the Autobot symbol on the side of trailer. The way that the figure and trailer were painted and airbrushed, the darker colors provide more of an impact and a bolder statement than the lighter G1 color scheme. Overall, this is a great combination of classic styling and a nice way to update this G1 Autobot hero. To see photos of the inside of the Trailer, head over to eBay and check out FrogDNA’s G1 Transformers Optimus Prime with Trailer figure.

Bruticus G1 Action Masters Style Transformers Custom
To make something as cool as Thyvipera’s Custom Action Masters Style G1 Transformers figure, you have to make some sacrifices. The cornerstone of the Transformers figures and why they are so cool is that they actually transform! Let’s face it, transforming the Transformers is overrated and I just made that statement to segue way into the fact that Thyvipera made a very cool non-transforming Transformer. For a custom, how many actually transform the figures? I would take a guess and say not very many because they are worried about damaging the figure.
I like the Action Master style that this figure was given and the colors of the figure bring back the nostalgia of the 80′s. I like the blocky style of this figure as it really fits in nicely with the Action Masters look and feel. The almost over sized look of the pieces is a really nice touch. For example, the size of the canons behind his head work really well with the overall figure design, which is very simple and effective. To check out more photos, head over to eBay to see Thyvipera’s Custom Action Masters Style G1 Transformers figure.

 Computron G1 Transformers Combiner
I have always wondered how toy designers select the colors for the figures. In the case of the G1 Transformers, we have an array of bright colored figures that permeate the toy line from Devastator to the Seacons. Computron is another example of a puzzling color pallet but nonetheless, Toyphilia has recreated one of the great classic combiners of the Generation 1 era with his Custom Transformers G1 Computron figure. Toyphilia did an excellent job matching the colors classic colors of this figure with its original figure and the overall design gives Computron a much sleeker, meaner look to him. Compared to the muted and blank face of the G1 figure, the way that Toyphilia designed the head gives the combiner a personality, a trait that is lacking in the original G1 line:

Paying homage to the great G1 figure of the 80′s, Thyvipera brings us this Custom Transformers G1 Classics Shockwave figure. Bruticus Maximus Custom Transformers Fansproject
Standing a towering 1 foot tall, Encline Designs brings us this awesome Custom Transformers Fansproject Bruticus Maximus combiner figure. Encline definitely hit a home run with this one. To get a glimpse into his paint app technique, here is how he decided which colors to go with for this figure:
“After studying multiple reference photos, I custom blended base colors and airbrushed the base coats with enamels. I then went back in with brushes and did numerous hand detailed paint techniques, including dry brushing and washes, to achieve bringing this guy to life!”
It is this attention to detail that makes Encline’s customs a cut above the rest. G1 colors always brings back that nostalgia that all kids from the 80′s grew up with so it is nice to see that influence so prominent in this custom. Here is a close up of the detail:

 Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Defensor
Standing over an impressive 21″ tall, ThyVipera brings us his G1 Masterpiece Transformers Custom Defensor combiner. This is the scale that toy makes should have been making combiners. The bigger the better! This Defensor looks very much like the G1 classic. The classic powder blue coloring is unmistakable. ThyVipera also did a great job selecting parts from various Transformers. Here is a photo showing the scale of the figure (note: the Skywarp is a Masterpiece figure…he looks so tiny!):

In order to make figures the best they can be, sometimes customizers have to create figures that do not break down into smaller parts or other transformers figures, which is the case for this Defensor. G1 Huffer Custom Transformers Minibot
This minibot may not be so mini after all but Sculpt-Bot Customs has paid a very nice homage to the little minibot who could with his Custom G1 Transformers Huffer figure. Using parts from a Transformers Animated Optimus Prime, a modified cab from the Supreme Devastator Mixmaster and other scratch built pieces, Sculpt-Bot really captured the essence of Huffer. He also captured the feel of the 80′s classic figure with the signature orange and blue paint aps that Huffer is known and loved for. Let’s check him out in robot mode:

 Custom Transformers G1 Drift
Frenzy.Rumble has a great figure up this week with his Custom Transformers G1 Drift figure. Let’s read more about this one of a kind custom:
“This custom was a project I’ve wanted to complete for about a year now. Drift is a great character, and he’s never been given justice in any toy form. I took an Alternity (not Alternator) version of Megatron, swapped out the head, gave him a super shiny paint job, awesome vehicle graphics, chrome custom built swords (x2), articulated hands, and a super detailed metallic paint job on all his robot parts. The Japanese text on his doors reads “Drift”.”
It is great to see figures other than the most popular ones as this gives collectors a chance to branch out and complete their collections with one of a kind customs that you will never see on the shelf. Great work!

G1 Custom Transformers Devastator with LED's
Encline Designs consistently makes incredible customs and his Custom G1 Transformers 15″ Devastator is a great example of his talent. A lot of thought goes into these creations so here are some of the modifications that Encline has made:
“1) I added a custom hand-sculpted head (sculpted by Ptitvite). 2) The incredibly detailed paint job of adding mud, wear, and rust while holding true to the classic color scheme of G1 Devastator. You will also notice the cement dried in MixMaster’s chute and drum. For the thighs and the face, I wanted to make them look like steel so I airbrushed them with chrome and a slight blue candy hue at certain angles. 3) I replaced the piece of plastic in the crane hydraulic with an aluminum rod to look more realistic. 4) To top it off, I am the first to add LEDs. As always, I think LEDs should compliment the figure and not be the main focus. So I installed four LEDs inside his torso for Longhaul’s headlights. I also installed an ultra violet LED inside the custom built chest piece to light up the Decepticon symbol. The headlights and the chest shield are on separate circuits as well as have their own easily accessible battery packs. 5) Added custom Encline Construction logos heehee”
The choice of green that used has more of an iridescence quality to it. In some photos it looks more florescent in other photos it looks like the classic Constructicon green. I especially like the Encline Construction logo, which is very subtle so you can play a quick game of ‘Where’s Waldo’ to find them. Bidding is hot on this Custom G1 Transformers 15″ Devastator figure and it has exceeded over $2000 already so head over to eBay and jump in the action!

Headmaster Hardhead and Duros Custom Transformers
Who knew a Transformers Armada Megatron could look so great? Frenzy.Rumble is up to what he does best and has transformers a lackluster figure into this awesome Custom Transformers Headmaster Hardhead figure. I love the gritty and raw look and feel this figure has. Frenzy.Rumble always has a great story to tell so let’s read more about his inspiration for this figure:
“As a kid, I always had a special love for Headmasters. One that I particularly remember well was Hardhead. I wanted to do a more modern revamp of this character. This custom started as an Armada Megatron. I completely rebuilt and replaced the upper legs, allowing much more articulation (rotation above knee, then full hip and knee articulation) I replaced the hands with articulated hands, which also rotate at the wrist. I had to make more space for these hands in the front (shoulder) treads. I heavily modified the turret/top of his alternate mode. Adding guns and a cockpit (Duros does not fit in) This turret rotates. For the head (Duros) I combined a Nightstick from Universe Cyclonus with a Safeguard (Vector Prime) Added ball joint articulation to the hips. Once built, I added some battle scars and painted him with some custom blends using House of Kolors (lacquer), and Testor model master (enamel).Hardhead stands approximately 11 inches tall. Duros stands approximately 1.75 inches tall.”
To check out a photo of Duros and to place a bid on this great figure, head over to eBay and check Frenzy.Rumble’s Custom Transformers Headmaster Hardhead figure.

“Up for grabs today is Henkei Shockwave. Armed to the teeth and more. He was also modified at his back with a small hook to prevent him from toppling. Those with the shockblast figure should know what I mean. Rare earth magnets were used for the weapon add-ons. Shockwave is able to pose freely with his weapons. Custom Transformers Henkei Wheeljack
Decked out in his classic G1 red, green, and white, Sabrina Ng is continuing with her Henkei line with her Custom G1 Transformers Wheeljack figure. Wheeljack is one of my favorite G1 customs to see redone and updated and Sabrina has given this one a showroom shine. Let’s read more about how Sabrina made this great figure:
“Made with the add-on kit from Mastercollectables (Google it!), I went for a more Japanese Anime cell shaded look with this custom. You can see the effect of the shadings from the back flaps and weapons. Airbrushed, detailed, shaded, dry brushed, as well as protected by a special anti UV component, Wheeljack will last for a very long time. Runabout and Runamuck Custom Transformers Alternators
Xaviercal has a great duo for this week with his Custom Transformers Alerantors Runabout and Runamuck figures. Using the Dodge Viper Sunstreaker as the base for the figure, he has made two G1 classic figures. When I first looked at these figures, one thing that struck me was that the paint application is so smooth and even. Top the figures off with their G1 style heads and you have an up to date Alternators version of two mischievous Decepticons. To check out more photos of these great figures, head over to eBay and check out Xaviercal’s Custom Transformers Alerantors Runabout and Runamuck figures.

 Superion Custom G1 Transformer Combiner
The great thing about customizers is that they are all unique and have thier own style and Sioce is no exception with his Custom G1 Transformers Superion figure. One of my issues with the original G1 combiner was that the figure seemed to slim and skinny and Sioce has corrected this by making this figure the way it should have been produced. While still retaining the G1 color scheme, Sioce has augmented this figure blades, weapons, and the use of the smaller jets to augment the arms, giving the figure a more grand appearance! To check out more photos of this awesome combiner, head over to eBay and check out Sioce’s Custom G1 Transformers Superion figure.

 Bruticus Transformers G1 Custom
DarkCaveCustoms has the ultimate homage to the one of the greatest combiners in Transformers history with his Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Bruticus combiner. One of the aspects of this customs that really stands out are the vibrant colors that were used and the fact that the figure stands a towering 21″ tall. The plastic on the figure was painted to look like steel, which adds depth to the figure. DarkCaveCustoms had an ingenious idea of using all of the extra parts that fuse the bots into Bruticus and turn them into a Mobile Battle Station, which you can take a look at over eBay by checking out this awesome Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Bruticus combiner.

 Custom Transformers Generation 1 Insecticons
Adding his “midis touch” to the commemorative edition G1 Insecticons, Frenzy.Rumble has his Custom Transformers G1 Insecticons up for sale this week. I actually just came across my G1 Kickback, which is one of the few original Transformers I owned as a kid. The rest I had to buy back from other people selling their collections on eBay but it is great to see customizers paying homage to the G1 classics. Frenzy.Rumble always pours top quality into his customs so let’s get some insight into his mind and how he creates these masterpieces:
“One of the coolest things I’ve seen is the re-release of Generation 1 figures, specific to certain stores called the “Commemorative Edition.” These sets celebrate the Transformers 25 years. One of the coolest sets I read about was the Insecticons, who didn’t like these as a kid? I think it was the only complete set I owned. Remembering the limited articulation and factory paint applications, I thought it would be an awesome idea to go to town with these little bugs. Please read the detailed list below to hear about some of the modifications made to each Insecticon. All paints used in the process were lacquer and enamel, so the finish is very durable, and the colors will stay vibrant and true for many many years. (Keep in mind, this is a collectible, so don’t throw it around!) I finished him off with several finishes of Testor’s clear coats, matte, semi-gloss, and gloss variations to keep the colors vibrant and true for years and years …always through an air brush to ensure thin, even perfect coats. I ensure the highest and most durable paint applications on all my customs. I exceed necessary preparation to these customs – Special plastic adhering primers, automotive grade lacquers and the best paints around to detail with. As always, I am accepting VERY LIMITED custom commissions and/or requests. Check out my website or contact me through ebay for details. Some ball joints were dyed in black dye to eliminate scraping and rubbing issues.”

Ark Autobot Charity Auction for the Make a Wish Foundation Spotlight: Bumblebee (Article 9 of 11)
One thing that struck me about Payton34′s custom Bumblebee figure for the Ark Autobot collection for charity was the shade of yellow for Bumblebee, which matches exactly to the G1 figure from the 1980′s. Here is more about how he painted this great figure:
“I used Model Master bright yellow spray enamel to give the outer shell a more accurate color scheme. After that, I used Testors Flat Black Noir Mat for the bumper/fender areas as well as the arms/fists; Testors Flat White Blanc Mat for the headlights; Testors Red Rouge for the tail lights. Finally, I used Liquid Leaf Silver Argent for the metallic areas and topped it all off with a layer of Model Master Ultra Gloss Clearcoat”
This is another awesome custom for the Ark Autobot collection so be sure to place your bid as all proceeds go to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Ark Autobot Charity Auction for the Make a Wish Foundation Spotlight: Mirage (Article 5 of 11)
As part of the Ark Autobot collection for Charity, Thyvipera has custom painted a Transformers Classics Mirage to look more like the G1 figure from the 1980′s. Given the popularity of NASCAR, I wonder if they made Mirage today, would it be a stock car? According to Thyvipera, “Mirage was painted using Krylon Fusion paints and airbrushed with Tamiya and Testors. He is detailed using Testor’s enamels and clear coated for protection from damage and UV light.” Thyvipera makes some awesome customs so be sure to check out this and other customs from him.

Ark Autobot Charity Auction for the Make a Wish Foundation Spotlight: Jazz (Article 4 of 11)
Next Autobot from the Ark Autobot charity auction is Jazz, which was designed and created by Encline Designs. Talk about starting from scratch on this one. Using a Transformers Universe Prowl figure as the base, he took a model kit and, as he called it, “re-shelled” the figure into Jazz. Let’s read more about this figure and how it was made from Encline Designs himself:
“When I took on the responsibility to make a Jazz, I had no idea I
would do what I did. The problem with making a great Jazz figure is
the fact that there are not really any good TFs to make in to a Jazz.
So, after thinking hard and drinking a lot of rum (just kidding, I
didn’t think) I had the idea to do a “re-shell”. I wanted an updated
version of Jazz to fit in the the rest of the updated TFs in the
auction. I search a good while and found a 1/35 PORSCHE 911 GTI La
Mans slot car plastic model! I used a universe Prowl figure as the
skeleton and totally dismantled the figure to get it that way! I then
had to measure, cut, dremel, grind, glue, cut, drink, yell, dremel
some more until it all fell into place. After Jazz was constructed, I
base coated him using PPG automotive urethane white with a PURPLE
PASSION Pearl on top of that. I felt, as Jazz was a race car, he
should have his sponsors on the car. So I added all the artists names
that are a part of this auction along with the appropriate racing
stripes for Jazz! He was clear coated with PPG Automotive urethane
clear coat for the best shine possible. The head is a custom head that
I got from a fellow artist. This custom here now has me hooked on re-
shelling and I look forward to the next ones!!”

 Hound G1 Custom Transformers Figure
Ark Autobot Charity Auction for the Make a Wish Foundation Spotlight: Hound (Article 3 of 11)
I first came across Encline Designs back in 2008 and I was struck by the creativity and talent that this customer possessed. As part of the Ark Autobot Charity Auction, Encline has made this Custom Transformers G1 Hound figure. I really like the muddy look to the figure and the addition of the military decals. As Encline stated, he is a former Jeep owner and his jeep was never showroom shine clean so he decided to dirty it up. This is another awesome figure from the Ark Autobot collection for charity!
Encline Designs wanted to personally share his thoughts on the Custom G1 Hound that he made so let’s read what he has to say:
“I wanted to capture the essence of the G1 hound with he up to date
style of the new Universe figure. The mod I did to make the most
difference was I added a grill from a 1/35 Jeep Willy model kit. That
way it has the old grill and headlights of the Jeep we all know and
love. He was base coated with House of Kolor Kustom Kolor enamels and
I added military decals from the same 1/35 model kit. I airbrushed the
thighs with ALSA MIRROR CHROME like the G1 toy has also.To give a
little nod to the original Japanese Transformers, I decided it would
be cool to add the “Convoy Commander” to the hood. Also, being a
former Jeep owner and lover, when is a Jeep ever clean?! I airbrushed
mud and dirt splatter in the appropriate places.”
