 Custom Marvel Legends Lion-O
BoskoesToys has created a great homage to one of the coolest figures and toy lines with their Custom Marvel Legends Lion-O figure. What is great about this figure is that there is so much detail and the addition of the bear skin cloak really completes the figure. Like every one of Boskoes’ customs, they pour everything they got into each figure and this Lion-O is no exception. The way they applied the paint aps on this one gives the figure such depth and character. When I was a kid, I used to mingle my toy lines and this Thundercats figure would be a great addition to your Masters of the Universe collection as well so head over to eBay and check out Boskoes’ Custom Marvel Legends Lion-O figure.

 Nova Custom Marvel Legends Figure
Custom DeCajon has a Custom Marvel Legends Nova figure that you will want to add to your collection. What I really like about this figure is that each piece is proportional to each other, which makes a big difference when you are making a figure that has identical pieces on each half of the body. The airbrushing is also done very well and is applied smoothly over the entire figure. This is a great looking Nova figure so head over to eBay and check out Custom DeCajon’s Custom Marvel Legends Nova figure.

 Arkham Asylum Batman Custom
2dtoys has a killer Arkham Asylum Batman Custom Marvel Legends figure up for sale on eBay this week. The figure has a presence to it. With the stern look and the stature of this Batman, this figure will look excellent in your display case. Let’s hear more about this figure from 2dtoys:
“Batman is made in the DC Universe style standing 6 inches tall with 26 points of articulation. His unique costume in the video game was painstakingly recreated in remarkable detail. You might not see it in the photographs but he even has that unique texture all over his suit. It also features a new accurate head professionally sculpted from scratch. Even after the extensive full body sculpting, this figure is still fully poseable.”

Hit and Run Custom Marvel Legends GI Joe Figure
Hit and Run is another classic GI Joe figure worthy of replicating in 6″ scale and Starbuck_bg1980 has done just this with his Custom Marvel Legends Hit and Run figure. This is a great looking figure with a ton of removable accessories. One aspect of this figure that I like is that the camouflage on the figure is very well done and blends nicely with the face, which is how the classic figure from 1980’s was done. I like that the colors are more military on this one as opposed to the brighter green used with the original Hit and Run figure. To buy this item now, head over to eBay and check out this Custom Marvel Legends Hit and Run figure.

Lion-O Thundercats Custom Marvel Legends Figure
BoskoesToys does many toy lines really well and their Custom Marvel Legends Thundercats Lion-O figure is no exception. They have a knack for capturing the true spirit of the original Thundercats cartoon figures with a fresh, updated figure. I have to agree with Boskoes when they say that this is their best recipe for a Lion-O figure they have made to date. Some of my favorite parts of this custom include the Sword of Omens, which was Lion-O’s right hand weapon. The hair and the face are spot on to the classic series character and the seriousness of the expression on his face give the figure a heroic personality. If you want to know what other special character this figure comes with, head over to eBay and check out BoskoesToys’ Custom Marvel Legends Thundercats Lion-O figure.

 HawkEye Marvel Legends Custom Figure
Straight from the Avengers comic series comes StlyeWarJoker’s Custom Marvel Legends Hawkeye figure. I really like the head sculpt on this one, especially the eyes and the hair. I like the way this figure deviates from the typical masked version around the eyes. The weathering and detailing is also very well done! Head over to eBay and check out more photos of StyleWarJoker’s Custom Marvel Legends Hawkeye figure.

Tags: Custom GI Joe, Custom Marvel Legends, GI Joe, Marvel Legends, Snake Eyes

I had the lucky opportunity to attend a preview showing of GI Joe The Rise of Cobra last night and I was say I was very impressed with the movie. Not to give anything away, I thought Snake Eyes was a bad ass who can hold his own anywhere and with anyone. That said, 2dtoys has paid homage to this legend with Custom Marvel Legends Snake Eyes figure. I love the detailing on this figure as it brings out the contours with the shading and painting techniques, which is hard to accomplish on a black figure. Here are more details about this figure from 2dtoys himself:
“Snake Eyes is made in the Marvel Legends style, standing around 6 inches tall with 38 points of articulation. He comes with his pet wolf Timber, his trademark Uzi, a removable knife and handgun, and a custom made sword. His costume was meticulously recreated to make the most unique Snake Eyes custom I could. He’s definitely my favorite Joe custom and one of my most sought after pieces.”
If you want to own a one of a kind figure, head over to eBay and check out this Custom Marvel Legends Snake Eyes figure.

Custom De Cajon brings out the dark side of Peter Parker with his Custom Marvel Legends Black Suit Spiderman figure. The paint aps on this figure are really smooth, especially since there are nooks where paint can clump but Custom De Cajon smooth paint job gives this figure an overall great look. I also love the look and how the eyes are done, which gives the figure much personality. Check out Custom De Cajon’s Custom Marvel Legends Black Suit Spiderman figure over on eBay!

Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Eternity, Marvel Legends, NTT

Having just watched 2001: A Space Odyssey and 2010: The Year We Made Contact, I was drawn to NTT figure because of it’s cosmic nature and how well NTT translated the concept art into reality. His Custom Marvel Legends Icon Eternity figure is well put together and captures the comic version of the figure very well. I actually like this version much better as the pictures I have seen of the concept art drown out the face and in NTT translation, the face stands out much more, which makes it more interesting. This is a 12″ figure and it looks like a piece of cosmic art so head over to eBay and check out more photos of NTT’s Custom Marvel Legends Icon Eternity figure.

K&L Customs has brought to life a character from the legendary X-MEN series with their Custom Marvel Legends Mystique figure. Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Marvel Legends, Ninja Gaiden, Ryu Hayabusa

Seeing this custom has brought back some great memories! Ninja Gaiden was one of those staples of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) back in the days of 8 bit gaming goodness. Kyle Robinson has brought to life, in 6″ scale, a legend in the platform gaming arena with his Custom Marvel Legends Ryu Hayabusa figure. The costume design on this figure is simple and well executed. The soft goods as a great touch to the figure, giving it depth and the ability to give the figure slightly different looks. My favorite aspect of this custom are the eyes, which gives the figure personality and the look a ninja who is ready to set out on a journey. Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Iron Man, Marvel Legends, Stealth Iron Man

Michael Amore has a fully loaded Custom Marvel Legends Stealth Iron Man for your viewing pleasure. Not only does this Iron Man have a stellar paint ap, but it is chock-a-block full of custom details and weapons! I am not sure if everyone reading this knows where the phrase ‘the whole nine yards’ comes from but back in World War 2 it referred to using up an entire aircraft machine-gun ammunition belt, which was nine yards (27 feet) in length. I would classify this Iron Man as going the whole nine because if you can see the photo above, it looks like this Iron Man is packing heat with a gun that can do some serious damage. This is one of the most detailed Iron Man’s I have come across in a long time so head over to eBay and check out Michael Amore’s Custom Marvel Legends Stealth Iron Man figure!

It is great to see characters from the past come to life by talented customizers. Leave it to Quantum-7 customs to create a figure that you will never see in stores with his Custom Marvel Legends Dark Claw figure. Trying to be as comic accurate as possible, Quantum-7 did an excellent job combining both the DC and Marvel universe. The sculpting on this figure really completes the look from the comic. The mask is symmetrical to the face and in scale with the rest of the figure. Another great addition to the figure is the custom building top base but you will have to head over to eBay to view it!

One of C3’s (Central Cali Customs) strengths is his ability to mold plastic and paint into realistic figures and his Custom Marvel Legends Mimic figure is no exception. I love the way this figure came together. My favorite aspect of this custom is the head sculpt. The hair and the eyes are done very well, which gives the figure personality. Let’s hear more about this great figure from C3 himself:
“Up for an auction is MIMIC from the Exiles series. This guy has so many powers. He could copy up to 5 other mutants’ power. This particular custom figure, he will copy Wolverine, Angel, and cyclops. Mimic stands 6 inches tall. He comes with replaceable wings, and claws. If you wanted him to have Angel’s power, then just plug in his magnetic wings. If you wanted him to have Wolverine’s power, then just plug his magnetic claws on his hands. You could actually combine them all 3 powers together is you want to.”

It is great when customizers bring concepts to life and Wanderer-X has done this with his Custom Marvel Legends Polaris figure. One of the key members of the new Starjammers, Magneto’s daughter and second woman to join the X-Men, and the Mistress of Magnetism, this Polaris figure is very highly detailed and there are a few aspects of this custom I would like to point out. First, the head sculpt is very well done. The hair and the facial features are the high points for me on this one. The eyes and lips give the figure personality and the colors stay true to the concept art. Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Deadpool, Marvel Legends

Kyle Robinson, on the best Marvel Legends customizers out there, has a Custom Marvel Legends Deadpool figure up this week that is to die for. There are several aspects of this custom that are great. First, the paint aps are all in the right places, even in between the muscles to show off the definition, which gives the figure added dimensions. The paint is also smoothly applied, which takes a steady hand as to not make the figure look clumpy. Kyle also does not skimp on the accessories. The holsters for the guns are a great touch as Deadpool has to put his piece somewhere when he is opening a can whoopass. Kyle is also regularly featured in ToyFare magazine so if that is not enough to get you over to his listing, I don’t know what is! In all seriousness, check out Kyle’s Custom Marvel Legends Deadpool and his other work over on eBay!

Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Custom Video Game Figures, Ken, Marvel Legends, Street Fighter, Video Game Customs

I remember wasting countless hours (and quarters) playing Street Fighter when it first hit arcades back in the late 80’s. I used to work in a Bowling Alley as a teenager and when my shift ended, I would basically deposit my paycheck into the large glowing box they called Street Fighter. Ashkanls has done an excellent job capturing one of the characters from this ground breaking game with his Custom Marvel Legends Street Fighter Ken figure. The smirk on Ken’s face pays a great homage to the great warrior with the Shōryū-ken, Rising Dragon Fist punch. This figure also comes complete with a fireball and from the looks of the photos, this is a great rendition of this classic character. I have to admit that I was the recipient of that on many occasions and countless battles and time was spent trying to perfect those moves. For all of you Street Fighter fans out there, head over to eBay and check out Ashkanls’ Custom Marvel Legends Street Fighter Ken figure and own a piece of video game history!

Capturing the mercury look and feel of one of the Fantastic 4, jcartwork brings us this smooth looking Rise of the Silver Surfer Custom Marvel Legends figure. The original figure looked too plastic and silver for my tastes so jcartwork and his team has spent countless hours getting it just right. Tony has the ability to bring the figures to life and they way he painted and sculpted the face makes it look very realistic. I love the realism that NTT brings to his customs and his latest Custom Marvel Legends White Phoenix figure is no exception. I love the concept from head to toe! The coupling of metallic gold and soft white accent the right parts of the this figure and the gold sash ties everything together. The hair is a work of art in itself and I have said this several times but nailing the right features of a figure (such as the eyes and hair) can make a break a custom. The hair is very realistic on this figure and the deep shade of red really makes the face pop! NTT is one of the best customizers in this respect and he strives to set a realistic tone with his figures while still staying true to the concepts. Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Marvel Legends, MASK, Miles Mayhem

Continuing with thier homage to the legends of Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, BoskoesToys brings us their Custom Marvel Legends Miles Mayhem figure. One very minor thing that bothered me about the MASK line was that the figures were so small and BoskoesToys has solved this issue by designing a 6″ figure with a mask to go along with it. Portraying a much slimmer Miles Mayhem than the original, they have done an excellent job capturing the old school feel of the line. I love the mask on this figure as it is a great translation from the older figure. For all of you MASK fans out there, head over to eBay and place a bid on BoskoesToys Custom Marvel Legends Miles Mayhem figure. You will also find there Matt Trakker figure over there too!

Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Marvel Legends, MASK, Matt Trakker

The MASK toy line ranks very high as one of the best and it has given me so many great memories. Aside from making Matt Trakker part of the GI Joe 25th Anniversary line, Hasbro has yet to go big with a reissue of the MASK line. Enter BoskoesToys, one of the premier custmomizers out there and they immortilised this classic figure with their Custom Marvel Legends Matt Trakker figure. The red and gray outfit that Trakker sports gives the figure that feeling that I can only describe in Transformers terms…Generation 1! I love what BoskoesToys has done with this custom and they really brought out the essence of the MASK line. The MASK is very well done as well and looking at this figure makes me want to crack open the originals.

Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Jin Saotome, Marvel Legends, Marvel vs. Capcom

Yes, you read that right! Jin Saotome does Jin Saotome! Bringing the worlds of Marvel Legends and Capcom together, Jin’s stunning portrayal of this Cyberbots great is an amazing piece of work. The painting technique goes really well with this figure and the way the face was done gives the figure great personality. Jin always has a great back story on his figures so let’s read more about Jin’s Jin:
“It’s time folks…time to pass on Jin to one lucky person out there in the world. If you’ve been keeping tabs on this figure, he’s been with me for quite a while. You may have seen him at the SDCC up close or perhaps on my web page, deviantArt, or Flickr pics. Years ago, I created him and have slowly been resculpting and adding new features, updating him as my customizing skill have progressed. I can do no more to this figure and that means he’s ready for a new owner, someone who will enjoy him just as much as I have over the years. Jin has been hand painted with all sorts of uniform shading, metallic effects, bright highlights, realistic flesh tones, and a sparkle in his eye that you only get from truly putting your heart into your work. His shoulder spikes are pointy and sharp so watch out! His bandana is poseable as is his real satin cloth scarf that’s wired inside to hold poses. On his back is the kanji that roughly translates to “Number one in the universe” just as his character sports in the Marvel vs Capcom game.”
To own a piece of video game history from one of the best out there, head over to eBay and check out this awesome Custom Marvel vs. Capcom Jin Saotome figure by none other than the one and only Jin Saotome!

Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Custom Video Game Figures, Fallout 3, Marvel Legends, Video Game Customs

Fallout 3 takes place in the year 2277, 36 years after the setting of Fallout 2 and 200 years after the nuclear war that devastated the game’s world. The game places the player in the role of an inhabitant of Vault 101, a survival shelter designed to protect a small number of humans from the nuclear fallout. Jin Saotome has filled the void of video game figures with his Custom Marvel Legends Fallout 3 Power Armor figure. Looking at the concept art for the game (see below), Jin does an excellent job translating the art to a figure you can be proud to display in your collection. Let’s read more about this awesome figure:

“In the future man’s ability to survive will be tested. The vaults will be opened and it will be time to reclaim the earth. Where will you stand? What will you use to protect yourself? Enter the Power Armor, your last best hope to survive in the wasteland that was once earth. This Power Armor has been meticulously painted with tons of weathered shading, rusty detailing, oily splotches, and metallic shading. This is the figure that’s featured in my new Metallic/worn armor painting guide on my site as well. There’s hand sculpted detail all over him and you can pose him on the battle-ravaged display base with his battle rifle in hand. This is a one-of-a-kind figure never to be made again and will show up in a future issue of Playstation Magazine.”
If you want to own a piece of history and have a chance to display a custom that will be featured in a ‘to be determined’ issue of PSM, head over to eBay and bid on Jin’s Custom Marvel Legends Fallout 3 Power Armor figure.

If the movie, The Watchmen, is as good as the Custom Marvel Legends The Watchmen set that M1 Customs has created, then fans are in for a real treat. From what I have seen from the movie trailers, The Watchmen looks like a blockbuster and what a way to ring in the movie. As pictured above, M1 has made Rorschach, Ozymandias, Nite Owl, Silk Spectre, Dr. Manhattan, and The Comedian. My favorite figure out of the bunch is the Dr. Manhattan as the perfect shade of blue was chosen and I love how the features of the figure are accented and acentuated. 13Customs has brought to life this lovely X-MEN character with his Custom Marvel Legends Polaris figure. There was something that drew me to this figure and I can’t quite put my finger on it but there seems to be an innocence to this figure in the way that the face was sculpted and painted. The hair is nicely done and the figure overall is executed very well. Sometimes it is the little things make a huge difference. For example, the subtle black outlining on the figure really makes the costume off of the flesh tone skin. The shades of green pay a great homage to this X-MEN enchantress. Claws Inc has blended the classic with the modern with this Custom Marvel Legends Outback Colossus figure. I love it when customizers go out on their own and make something that blends the classic nature of the characters with a more updated feel. This technique gives the best the best of both worlds for collectors who are grew up with the older style of the figures but are now also into the newer versions as well. I love the paint aps on this figure and the overall concept. The metallic paint and the hue of red is just perfect for the figure. Claws Inc tells us more about this great figure:
“Here we have a…..CUSTOM: Marvel Legends “OUTBACK COLOSSUS” figure. I wanted him to be kind of a cross between the Modern and the older classic X-Men ‘Outback’ Colossus….Hence the cleaner look overall, brighter metalic paint (with just a hint of light blue) and a much lighter/cleaner yellow on his belt etc. And of course the other yellow that was on him is now gone…I think way better. I’ve aways loved the ‘Outback’ look for Colossus, and I hope I’ve done him justice.“

I love it when customizers do what they think is right to enhance a figure to its full potential and Claws Inc has done just this with his Custom Marvel Legends Phoenix figure. There are many aspects of this figure that would make any collector want to add this to their Marvel collection. First, this is a one of a kind design straight from the mind and fingers of Claws Inc. For example, the paint aps for this figure were done in a white and bright gold, which goes very nicely with the fiery red hair, which is one of my favorite parts of this custom. The reason I like the hair is that (1) is looks very realistic and (2) the deep shadowing of the hair, which makes it look like it is flowing as she is rising up. I also like the definition that is given to the flesh tones that makes this figure one of the best. Head over to eBay to check out more photos and to place a bid on Claws Inc’s Custom Marvel Legends Phoenix figure.

JRS Toys has improved upon what was once (and still is) a Toyfare Exclusive figure with their Custom Marvel Legends Age of Apocolypse Morph figure. They really captured the classic version of Morph from the 1990’s and gave this figure a personality. Many of the figures that are produced by major toy companies lack character and style and it is customizers like JRS Toys that can give that figure a special look that brings out the essence of the figure we all remember. Let’s read more about how JRS created this great figure:
“We here at JRS Toys have been trying to bring some “prototype” figures to life. Morph is a favorite of ours, I think his crackly laugh is probably most prominent from the X-Men cartoon of the 90’s. So anyway, we were always jealous of this Toyfare Exclusive was released and decided that since we finally had all the right elements we’d update it. So what we have for you is one AOA Morph, ultra pose-able figure with some 36 points of articulation and stands 6 1/2 inches tall.”

Jin Saotome has created one of the coolest Marvel Legends figures I have seen a long time with his Custom Marvel vs. Capcom Spiral figure. The way the arms were integrated in this figure were very well done and flow seamlessly out of the arm sockets. Let’s read more from Jin about this unique figure:
“Spiral is the 6-armed beauty of Mojoworld, one of the neater female designs Marvel has ever come up with. Here you get her in all her multi-limbed glory done in Marvel vs Capcom2 style. She has a nice suit shading, multiple metallic effects, fur/hair detail, and highlights just as the game sprite has. I’m doing a whole line of MvC2 customs and she’ll fit right in with them. She has the now correct armored-sculpted half arm, an alternate hand for her seductive pose, and 6 count them SIX swords, one for each hand just like she tosses at you in the game.”

BoskoesToys takes a sinister twist to this famous Thundercats villain with their Custom Marvel Legends Mumm-Ra figure. Taking an atypical look to the face, they have epitomized this relic from the 80’s with an excellent black washing job and fantastic detailing. For example, Mumm-Ra’s belt and forearm guards look amazing and it is this kind of craftsmanship that sets BoskoesToys customs apart from others. Another killer accessory is the massive sword that they made for the figure:

This Marvel character first appeared in Thor #134 and is a master geneticist and brilliant theoretician. It is very obvious that great care was taken with this figure to ensure that it matched the concept art and comics. My favorite part of this custom are the rivet accents that are given to the costume as they look molded on instead of painted. It is this attention to detail that makes DarthLeon’s customs really stand out. Also, the color variation is in just the right places and shades were used accent various parts of the body. Jin Saotome brings us a modernized version of Tony Stark’s weapon of the future with his Custom Marvel Legends Stealth Iron Man figure. What is great about this figure is that it is not seen in any comic and this is Jin’s interpretation of how this suit would be modernized. The way this was painted really makes the plastic look like metal and this is a great effect that shows off the detail of the figure.
“This auction is for a 6” tall Stealth Armor Iron Man with glossy metallic finish. He has 22 points of articulation and can be put in to all sorts of stealthly mission poses. He’s scaled to fit right along with your Marvel Legends figures and will look great in your display case alongside your existing figures. Ever wonder what was under Darth Maul’s tunic? Mace2008 gives us a great representation with his Custom Marvel Legends Darth Maul figure. I love the concept of this figure because we never saw Darth Maul look like this in the movie. The way the body art flows from the head to the torso and the arms is done very well and I like the body choice for his figure as it is not overly muscular. The back design is an interesting concept as it is mostly black and I give Mace2008 kudos for some artistic freedom. The eyes are done very well and give Maul that sadistic, psychotic, possessed by the dark side look we have grown to love. I love Halloween as it brings the most humorous and disgusting customs all year. This week, NTT has created a Zombie version of a classic comic character with his Custom Marvel Legends Punisher Zombie figure. The Marvel Zombies concept first appeared in Ultimate Fantastic Four#21-23 (2005) by writer Mark Millar and artist Greg Land. The premise is that almost all superpowered beings on Earth have become flesh-eating zombies after being infected by an alien virus (source:Wikipedia). What I love about this custom is the unadulterated gore on this figure as it looks like the flesh is literally peeling off of his face. Let’s see what inspired Jin for this Iron Man:
“There’s so many different Iron Man suits that it’s hard to keep track sometimes! Well I’m adding to that mix with a new suit that’s never been featured in any comic. It’s a mix of modern and classic Iron Man designs and uses a great new body type for the Iron Avenger. He’s been painted with a true metallic gold using burnished metallic highlights that have been buffed in. The shading on this figure really brings out the depth and richness of the body. My favorite part of this custom is the flame neck engulfing the skull, which is a really cool effect. Let’s hear from Jin about how he made this great figure.
“Ready to whip all the villains into submission with his metal chain, Ghostie has been painted with deep shadows, dusty gray highlights, semigloss leather effects, and a flaming bone look to his head and eyes. Customking316, in his first non-wrestling related figure, has hit a home run with his Custom Marvel Legends Mumm-Ra Thundercatsfigure. Instead of creating a straight up translation, Customking316 puts his own unique spin on the character, which is executed very well. His version is a medieval 2008 figure, which is a welcome deviation from the old school cartoon representation. He still retains some of his mummy’ness with a few strands of bandages but this Mumm-Ra looks ready to give it to Lion-O! Updating the Tiger Stripe Wolverine, Jin Saotome adds a very cool feature to his Custom Marvel Legends Wolverinefigure in the form of a pair of steel claws. Here is Jin to tell you more about this classic X-MEN figure:
“You asked for more steel claws and you got them! The new ‘tiger stripe’ Wolverine that came out in the Target Exclusive Red Hulk wave is by far my favorite Wolvie to date. He’s basically a direct mold of the old ML 6 brown Wolvie which has the best features in my opinion. Well this time around I updated him with my all new recipe for steel claws! These claws don’t simply sit on top of his hands but plug in with powerful magnets ensuring a tight fit however you play with him. You can remove them and plug in the retracted claw nubs for a different look. Wolvie has also been given an updated curved ear shape and some shading to his body for a more detailed appearance.”

“Up for this auction is Jim Lee style of Cyclops. He was built based on 4 different base figures. It took a while to do a research on what to use for him, specially the hands. I specifically look for the perfect right hand, so he would be pose nicely as if he’s touching his eye wear to use the laser beam. His belt buckle, boots straps, thighs strap, hands strap, and body strap were hand sculpted. He was hand painted with majority of blue color, with all his yellow straps and boots. You will find the shadows and highlight on his body, hands, legs, boots, hair, etc. His X-Men logos are also hand painted. Lastly, he comes with his replaceable laser beam.”

There really is no back story on this figure but Jin delivers a unique design that will please any Custom Marvel Legends fan. He explains more about this one of a kind figure:
“Over the past few years fans have written in, asking me to do original characters from my own designs. I have my comedy series ‘Brick Ninja’ but felt it was time for something new. Enter Machine Head. This mysterious character has come out of nowhere decked out in a sleek jet-black suit, bright red neck wrap, and metallic armor details. But who is he? Does he fight for the innocent or for his own sinister purposes? And is there anything human left under that helmet? This figure will leave you guessing for a bit and will include a bonus accessory later on that’s sure to turn heads. It will be added towards the end of the auction so keep an eye out. There is no backstory for Machine head. He has no past, and it’s up to YOU to give him a future. Consider this the ‘prototype’ figure eh?”

With briefcase and all, NTT has equipped Destro to work at his first desk job…yeah right! What this Custom Marvel Legends Destrois capable of I will leave that to your imagine but NTT has done an awesome job capturing the classic nature of this Cobra favorite. I love the over sized weaponry and vintage Destro’esque suit, he is ready to take on GI Joe. What I love about this figure is the attention to detail surroundigng the forarm weapons. I wish I could go to work sporting a pair of rockets and grenades on my arms. Here is a bit more detail from NTT himself about how this Destro was made:
“This figure stands 8 inches tall and features multiple points of articulation (including head, arms, elbows, wrists, torso, legs, andknees). Parts of this custom was sculpted with Aves apoxie (very durable) and completely hand painted in acrylics. Being a huge fan of the GI Joe series, decided to make a Destro figure in the Marvel Legends scale. He’s been made with lots of attention to detail, for example the grenades and missiles on his forearm, his ruby opal necklace, and even added those studs around his neck. Included with this figure you get the bigazz machine gun, the briefcase, and a rapier sword.”

KirksKustoms brings out the Hell in Hellboy with his Custom Marvel Legends Hellboyfigure. This Hellboy figure’s facial features are super realistic. Kirk did an excellent job with the eyes as the original figure was lacking detail in that area. The teeth and facial hair are also deserving of note as he did an excellent job recreating parts of the human body. The blackwashing adds great depth and perspective to the figure and this is one to add to your Hellboy or Custom Marvel Legends collection. Second, the helmet is very well done and the fine detailing makes it the centerpiece of the figure. Everything is very well proportioned and the paint aps compliment each other nicely.

Using comics as a reference, DarthLeon brings this classic Marvel character to life with his Custom Marvel Legends Jack of Heartsfigure. This figure is outstanding! The detailing alone deserves great mention as the patterns of the paint aps are very sophisticated, which adds to the comic realism. The tunic is on of my favorite parts of this custom. The patterns are very symmetrical and colors are perfect.
Custom Jack of Hearts by DarthLeon
The face is another favorite of mine for this one. The light blue and heart over the eye are very well done and give this figure the look it was intended. Custom Puma by dr f8
dr.f8 has created a classic Marvel Comics character with his Custom Marvel Legends Pumafigure. Made from a combination of parts from Ripclaw, Wolfman, and a loads of apoxie, he was able to make a figure that has great depth and a feeling of flowing hair coming out of body. For example, the way that Puma is detailed, it gives the appearance of the figure being covered with hair. The colors of this figure pay a nice homage to the comic and the sculpting is very well done as it is very difficult to give the illusion of physics of a body on a plastic figure. The eyes also give it an animal look to it as well. What a great figure to add to your Marvel Legends collection and to find out more about this awesome figure, head over to eBay and place a bid for this great Custom Marvel Legends Puma figure.

The CollectableKid has done an amazing job with his rendition of a classic Star Wars Legacy character with his Custom Star Wars Marvel Legends Cade Skywalker figure. I am always amazed by the level of detail the CollectableKid puts into his customs and this figure is no exception. What impresses me the most about this figure is the realism that was achieved. The hair looks flowing and the facial expression looks lifelike. I have always been impressed with the CollectableKid’s sculpting ability but it is also the way he blends the paint aps with the figure give it that special something not found in many customs. Custom Marvel Legends Prowler by LooseCollector
Straight from the pages of the Amazing Spider Man comic, where he made his debut, comes Loosecollector’s Custom Marvel Legends Prowler figure. The paint aps gives this figure depth while providing a comic accurate likeness to Prowler. The deep green body really makes the emblem stand out on his chest and the the shade of purple that was used really compliments the rest of the figure. One aspect of this figure that is noteworthy is the head sculpt. The way that the head was crafted and painted, it appears that Prowler can take on different looks depending on the light and how the head is angled. The mouth is perfectly positioned and the eyes are neutral, making the figure able to be interpreted several different ways.

Meltdown Customs pays a nice homage to the comic likeness of Atlas with his Custom Marvel Legends Atlas figure. I really like the colors in this figure with the yellow and dark red contrast. This figure is a 12″ tall so I included a picture from Meltdown’s listing just for scale purposes.

Calling all Incredible Hulk fans! NTT has created one of the best Red Hulks I have come across to date with his Custom Marvel Legends Red Hulk figure. The depth afnd design of this figure is what makes this one stand out! The veins appear to be bulging with rage and the shorts take on a very tattered look that have the appearance of soft goods. The blackwashing really brings out the detail in the muscles and I love the hair standing on end! This one is definitely going to give the Marvel Select Red Hulk a run for the money! Let’s hear more about this great figure from NTT himself:
“This figure stands 9 inches tall and features multiple points of articulation (including head, arms, elbows, torso, legs and knees). Tags: Bionic Commando, Capcom, Custom Marvel Legends, Custom Video Game Figures, Jin Saotome, Marvel Legends
To ring in the upcoming launch of the new Capcom game, Bionic Commando, Jin has diligently replicated one of the coolest video game figures in Marvel Legends style with his Custom Bionic Commando figure. There are a few aspects about this custom that make this outstanding! First, Jin was able to sculpt the hair and facial features in a very realistic way, which is a tough thing to pull off on a plastic toy. Second, the way the bionic appendages flow into the body looks like these were surgically implanted into the figure. He has achieved an awesome bionic look and feel with the way the machinery is sculpted and painted. The flexible piping and cords add to that realism and also give the figure the ability to aim in any direction you like. I threw in a reference picture from game as a comparison:
Jin goes on to describe this great figure in more detail: “Bionic Commando is back with an all-new look! This figure is based on Capcom’s upcoming remake of Bionic Commando. He has a super realistic paint job with faded cloth colors, deep shadows, tanned skin highlights, and some great metallic features on his arm and legs. Check out his facial features and the tiny logo on his t-shirt, all painted freehand. His bionic arm features flexible piping and cords so you can aim his arm all different directions. Attach the bendable grappling cord and he can grab on to things or hang from objects. The clawed fingers move individually as well. This figure is scaled 6″ to match your existing Marvel Legends figures, not 7″ like the Player Select figures.”

“This figure stands 7 inches tall and features multiple points of articulation (including pivot/swivel head, arms, elbows/wrists, legs and knees). Parts of this custom was sculpted with Aves apoxie (very durable) and completely hand painted in acrylics. It was designed to have a statue quality, but also have great figure articulation. Jin Saotome boldly goes where no customizers dare to go! He picks up where the toy companies leave off and that is evident with his latest creation: Custom Marvel Legends Hemingway figure. As you can see below, Jin used the original character art from ToyBiz and he did an amazing job! What I love about Jin’s customs is that he makes interchangeable parts to achieve the look and feel that he wants. For example, the photo below show the Hemingway figure with a club hand and Jin also made a regular hand. The bones protruding from Hemingway’s body is a great effect and they are nicely proportioned. The sculpting detail really pulls this figure together and he makes an almost exact match to the drawing but with his own twist. Straight from the pages of the X-Men Marvel Comics comes the collectablekid’s version of X-Men character Nate Grey in Marvel Legends Styles. One of the great things about the collectablekid’s customs is that he is an excellent sculptor so you know that his heart and soul is poured into every custom he creates. A few notable points about his Nate Grey are the flames surrounding his hands, the detailing on his suit, and his head (which pretty much covers everything but I will go into a bit more detail). First, the flames on his hands are very well done and actually look like fire. The fire almost takes on a persona of its own and the colors are very life-like. Second, the way the body suit was painted and sculpted gives the appearance of an actual piece of clothing. Finally, the aspects I will point out on the head are the eyes and eyebrows. The way that these are designed brings much life into the figure and the raised eyebrow is a very nice touch that gives the figure personality. It is this attention to detail that makes the collectablekid’s customs priceless. The hair is also an aspect that looks lifelike and is sculpted in a way that feels like the hair is flowing.

Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Living Laser, Marvel Legends, Meltdown Customs

Straight from the pages of Marvel Comics, Meltdown Customs brings us his version of the Living Laser, Marvel Legends style. The sculpting on this figure really brings out the comic likeness in the figure. The head, hands and the boots are my favorite part of this custom. The ridges on the head are perfectly spaced and the way the hands and boots were designed, it pays a really nice homage to the comic representation of the Living Laser. The color choice is spot on and the flesh tone blends nicely with the figure.
The Living Laser is a bodiless quantity of photons (particles of light) possessing human consciousness. Formerly human, he can exert mental control over the particles that comprise his form, determining their direction of travel and concentration. Michael Amore has two awesome customs rolled into one auction this week with his Custom Marvel Legends Black Knight and Namor, the Sub Mariner, figures. I first wrote about Michael’s Namor figure back in May and what struck me about that custom was how accurate the flesh tones were. He is continuing to add depth to his current Black Knight figure by doing what he does best, focusing on the tones and delivering an awesome custom! For example, Michael has created a very realistic looking chain mail on this figure, which is a type of armour or that consists of small metal rings linked together in a pattern to form a mesh. Mail armour provided a highly effective defense against the weapons of the Medieval Period. The sculpting is always semetrical and the colors compliment each other nicely.

Jin Saotome is heating up the Iron Man custom section with his Custom Marvel Legends Iron Monger figure. The cool thing about this custom is that Jin has given this figure the look of brushed steel and has a light up chest but I will let Jin take it away from here:
“Monger has been decked out in a shiny metallic paint job with just a hint of blue shading and great highlights that give the look of real brushed steel! He has full articulation in the legs as well, not static posed like the first Iron Monger figure. Ready for the kicker? Open up the cockpit and flip the hidden switch, Iron Monger’s eyes and chest light up just like the onscreen character! Please don’t stare directly into the chest light, it’s so bright you can use this guy as a flashlight in case of an emergency. The batteries can also be replaced if needed.”

The hair looks like it is flowing in the wind and extends naturally from the helmet, which is uniquely sculpted like she is portrayed in comics and sketches. The colors are spot on and pay a nice homage to the Captain America feel of this figure.
American Dream is in peak physical condition for a non-powered human, and is a skilled martial artist. She has disc weapons similar to those used by Ricochet and has terrific aim. Later she was given a duplicate of Captain America’s shield (more accurately, the shield itself from another dimension), and she uses it well (both defensively and offensively). Complete with sound and blasters fire, Central Cali Customs (C3) brings this Custom Stealth Iron Man Marvel Legends figure to life. Like will all customs from C3, he pours his heart, soul, and talent into his works of art. I like the way the paint aps make this figure look like it is metallic. The helmet is also removable, which makes a really nice feature. Under the mask, the facial tone is a nice flesh color. This custom also has an interesting story, which I will let C3 describe in detail:
“Here is the story behind him. A week ago, I went through my bench work and usually clean up some un useful stuff. Then I found this repulsor Iron Man without the head and was ready to throw it away. I thought that I had no use for it. Then all of sudden, there is a little voice that says…..it could be customized rather than throwing it away. Then I found a head for him, so here you have it. He was hand painted multiple times with the glossy blue to depict his armor. His head was modified so that he could look up more than the original. The helmet is detachable; I personally love when he takes off his helmet (mask) as it looks like one of the statue. He also comes with his blaster blue fire when he’s taking off (they are detachable). All of his sounds are working perfectly as he’s taking off.”

CREG has taken a different angle on the Iron Man customs with his version of Tony Stark depicting the “Yeah, I can fly” test sequence from the movie. This custom, with the amount of detailing and sculpting, far exceeds most Iron Man customs on eBay. What sets this custom apart from the others is that it is not a straight up Iron Man custom and the sculpting of the various parts flows nicely together. For example, the machinery on the arms flows up the biceps, giving the illusion that the figure is wearing the apparatus. The paint aps are nicely executed on the figure and compliment the depth and detail of the sculpting.
I would highly recommend that everyone head over to eBay and check out CREG’s Custom Marvel Legends Tony Stark figure.

In Greek mythology, the Minotaur was a creature that was part man and part bull. It dwelt at the center of the Labyrinth, which was an elaborate maze-like construction built for King Minos of Crete and designed by the architect Daedalus and his son Icarus who were ordered to build it to hold the Minotaur. DayYote brings this mythic creature to life with his Custom Marvel Legends Minotaur figure. The detailing on this figure is a site to be seen and held. The sculpting and the paint washing techniques give this figure true depth and realism. Here is how DayYote describes how he created this wonderful beast:
“My Minotaur has been painted and sculpted with the finest materials. Aves apoxie sculpt, golden airbrush paint, and vallejo paint were all used in the creation of this masterpiece. Not only the finest materials but also the finest techniques were used also in the creation process. I applied a lot of sculpting, airbrush, paint washes, paint layers, dry brushing, and leather work. I even made my own battle axe. The Iron Man customs are heating up on eBay and their is very good reason! Typically, there is a surge of character specific customs that land on eBay before and after the launch of a killer movie. The 2007 Transformers Movie and the 2008 Iron Man movies have given customizers a great canvas to demonstrate their creativity. That said, I would like to focus attention to a really cool cross over figure done by Jin Saotome. Jin has created a hybrid Marvel Legends Sigma Six Iron Man that looks like it could belong in both worlds of Marvel and GI Joe. This Iron Man figure has retained the unique style of the Sigma Six GI Joe line and has married the aspects that make Iron Man a force to recon with. The colors really compliment figure and you can clearly identify this as an Iron Man figure and the black washing really brings out the detail. Not satisfied with either ML version of Namor, Michael Amore has risen to the occasion and created a work of art with his Custom Marvel Legends Namor figure. One of the aspects about this custom that makes this unique is the custom flesh tone and the sculpting on this figure. The speedo is even hand sculpted and Michael rounds it out with a trademark N. Another great aspect of this custom is that Michael is able to capture the human element in action figure form. The way the muscles flow, especially from the neck down, makes this custom truly realistic, an aspect that is extremely difficult to capture in a figure but there are a few who can pull it off and Michael is one of them. The second photo below really shows off the superior level of detail. Let’s read more about how Michael made this figure in his own words:
“I really wanted the flesh tone to be realistic and not to rub at all when you move him…so I made my own custom flesh color and attacked his joints by: cutting, scrapping, grinding, sanding and smoothing…he is fully possable, plus he has two sets of hands…one of which holds ah custom trident I fashioned…the other has jointed fingers…and I lined his Speedo w/green felt on the inside so his legs would not rub…thus he retains ALL of his perfect paint apps!!!….His feet and head from the neck up are from the later version or Namor from the last FF line…I used putty and apoxy-scultp to make them seamless w/the rest of the figure…I also sculpted his Speedo to be comic book correct…and dry-brushed his Speedo and ankle wings to give them an awesome look!…you got yer gold gauntlets…yellow belt…gold N for ah buckle…pointy ears…who could ask for anything more huh!!!…all hand painted…mostly custom colors…gloss, semi-gloss and flat pants used!!!…this figure took forever to make…”

boskoestoys, another one of my favorite customizers, takes on the Iron Man Mark 7 with force with their Custom Marvel Legends Iron Man figure. I love when new movies come out, like Iron Man, which means a serious influx of customs. The apsects that I love about boskoestoys is that they are not afraid to take some liberties their customs and really make them their own and unique. boskoestoys tells us more about this awesome Iron Man figure:
Iron Man figure features:
- Exchangable hands
- Regular hands with repulsors in palms
- Repulsor cannon attachment (fits on back)
- Prototype hand (repulsor fingertips)
- Oversized work hand
Exchangable heads: Like two action figures in one. swap out heads for Tony stark, and turn you movie Mark 7 into an Ultimate Mark 7. Exchangeable pieces fit very snug and are not wobbly or loose. Chest lights up 2 different colors. The acrylic shield over his chest piece is clear blue, but there are two different buttons on his back. On makes his chest smolder red, and the effect from this light spreads through his right torso (kinda a lunar armor effect). The other button is bright orange glow. runs on small watch batteries (batteries are replaceable). Real metallic paint additives, careful attention to detail, and a multi layered paint ap finish this figure off!

Dielawn Customs brings this X-Force figure to life with his Custom Marvel Legends X-23 figure. Beautifully sculpted, this figure has a personality of its own. The costume design mirrors the X-Force comic version very nicely. Let’s see how Dilawn Customs made this great figure:
“This is a custom X-23 (Laura) Marvel Legends figure created by dielawn customs!. This is a hand painted figure with sculpted parts, it still has all of it’s intended articulation but is meant for display, collecting and minor posing of the joints to insure the figure stays in it’s intended shape. A lot of time and effort was put into this character to insure that it stands up to the test of resemblance to the actual comic book character. (Character has fully sculpted boots..belt…enhanced breasts… and real steel, silver colored, claws)…. Painted with Testor Model Master paints…& finished off with Plaid Matte varnish spray sealer”

Central Cali Customs has outdone themselves with his Custom Marvel Legends Stealth Iron Man figure. This Sideshow’esque figure is comes packed with articulation and a custom base that looks like Iron Man has unleashed hell on it. Central Cali Customs explains more about how he made this work of art:
- Researching, the best suitable Action Figure to transform. For example: According to Cable’s bio, he is 6ft 8in and 350 lbs. So, I would not use a HULK’s body because he is 1,000 lbs.
- Once you find all parts, then you Assemble and Sculpt
- This part is very fun……I used Apoxie Sculpt for a strong finish.
- Prime the whole body.
- Paint major parts with correct color accordingly. I do multiple paint 3 to 4 times. I used Testors Model Master Acrylic Flat (unless it’s an armor steel character) color paints. These paints are non-toxic and lead free.
- Wash with darker color to imitate shadow (Where needed).
- Dry brush with lighter color to imitate highlights (Where needed).
- Then detailing such as lines, logos, etc.
- Last and not least, depending on what kind of finish I would like to achieve, I will coat my figure. If I want to get flat comics like finish, then I coat it with dullcoat. If I want to get armor stell finish, then I coat it with glossy coat.

Form meets function with 2dtoys Custom Marvel Legends Firefly figure. This is one of the best Firefly’s I have seen in a long time. Every aspect of this figure reminds me of the classic 3 3/4″ figure from the GI Joe cartoon. No detail was spared and I especially like how 2dtoy’s did the weapons and gear on this one. Take a look at the detail of the pack, complete with Firefly’s tools of mayhem and destruction:
The gray camo detail is spot on and the accessories are a plenty so that Firefly can live up to his reputation of Cobra Saboteur. 2dtoys explains more about his process for creating this great figure: “This piece comes from my personal collection and I can honestly say it’s one of the better pieces I’ve made in recent years, and is definitely the most fun to play around with. This custom figure features 32 points of articulation and is completely poseable. You needn’t worry about paint rub with this one. Even the ab articulation, which is carefully hidden so as not to intrude with the design aesthetic is fully functional and offers surprisingly good mobility. He comes with his trademark rifle, a removeable handgun from his holster with an attachable silencer. He also has his backpack which opens up to reveal his sinister tools of sabotage and a cellphone.”

KJ Customs steams up the scene with his Custom Marvel Legends Goblin Queen! He is a very talented sculptor and this figure is evidence of that. The human body is very difficult to replicate but this is one of KJ’s strong points! Some of the high points of this custom are the very detailed ab sculpt and shaping. The hair flows beautifully off the top of her head and on to her shoulders. This is one of the most highly detailed and nicely sculpted Marvel Legends custom I have come across in a while. KJ tells us more about how me made this beauty:

“This figure is very detailed and very beautiful. She has several points of articulation and comes with a base with very detailed goblins. She also comes with a massive custom cape with about a nine or ten inch span. From head to toe this is going to please any x men fan! Starting with the figure itself ,she is about 7″ tall. She is really for display and not for play. She has 8 points of articulation: Her ball joint shoulders, elbows,Knees, and ankles. Her legs and torso do not move because I wanted the figure to look flawless. She is pretty durable and has been crafted with magic sculpt and sealed. Her face is very beautiful and sexy. She has smokey eyes with light on the iris .Her skin throughout her body is shaded to look more realistic. She has red hair with many different colors of highlight and lowlight, and has been sculpted to look like it is flowing. She has a very sexy mid section and toned body. She has very detailed hands which have also been shaded and given long glossy black finger nails. Her costume is very comic book accurate. It is a jet glossy black color. On the loin cloth there are tiny gold skulls and a golden broach on her chest. The outfit itself is three dimensional, so it is not just painted on.Her knee high boots are also detailed and are jet black with gloss. She also comes with two hand sculpted very detailed goblins. The green one does not come off the stand but the blue one is removable. These guys are really awesome and help make the figure pop! Her cape is removable and very flexible. It has two rings which can be put on each wrist and really move with the figure when her arms move. The base is from another figure but looks really good with this one.”

Central Cali Customs has taken a great character from the Marvel Comics and brought it to life with his Custom Marvel Legends Titanium Man figure. The colors on this custom really pop and pay homage to the comic representation of Titanium Man. He chose a great shade of green and complimented it with a dark silver which goes nicely with the figure and gives it a fresh from battle look. The faceshield on the head is proportional and the copper goes great with the figure. Central Cali Customs describes his process so let’s get into the head of this talented customizer:
- Researching, the best suitable Action Figure to transform. For example: According to Cable’s bio, he is 6ft 8in and 350 lbs. So, I would not use a HULK’s body because he is 1,000 lbs.

Darthleon’s Custom Marvel Legends Storm figure rises from the page of Marvel Comics and is stirring up eyes on eBay! The sculpting on this figure is great and I am happy to see darthleon taking on a custom that is one of his favorite character portrayals. The hair looks great and it looks like she is getting ready to mess with mother nature. Let’s see how he has made this great figure:
“This is one of my favorite versions of storm to date so I figured I give it a go considering there really isn’t a good storm out there. Her entire torso, Boots, Hair and chest was rescultped to give a more accurate and detailed look. The outfit was painted with many highlights and shadows to give it a realistic look. Please note that do to the boots, this figure is meant to posed on the flying stand that is provided, because she cannont stand without support. The figure has multiple points of articulation. This figure is one that needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. Although the figure is poseable and durable, this item is intended for collectors and should be handled accordingly. He was scultped using a very durable compound called apoxie sculpt that when cured is very hard and durable.”

Bringing one of the most popular GI Joe characters to life, grinmankey has remade Storm Shadow in Marvel Legends style. There are many aspects about this custom that make it stand out above the rest. First, grinmankey has retained the classic look of Storm Shadow in all of his version 1 greatness. Second, the sculpting on this figure is done really well, even down to the ninja stars on his belt. Finally, there are some subtle wrinkles and pulls in the ‘fabric’ of the costume that make this custom come to life. For example, in the mask, it looks like the mask pulls around the nose, adds some depth to the face. Also, the choice of legs makes it look like Storm Shadow’s costume is flowing around the legs and not has form fitting. grinmankey tells us how he made this great custom:
“This is a one-of-a-kind custom of Storm Shadow from the criminal organization known as COBRA. Ever since I was a kid, Storm Shadow was one of my favorite GI Joes (wasn’t he everybody’s?). My brother and I would always play as Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Perfect rivals. Ever since I started customizing, I’ve wanted to do a Storm Shadow figure and I finally got around to it. There have been many different costumes for the ninja, Storm Shadow, but this was my favorite, the classic look. I hope this figure lives up to the character. The two swords, bow and arrows are all removable and the figure can be played with, but do so with care because there could be paint rub on the joints.. It retains all original articulation of the figures used to create it.. Enjoy! Storm Shadow is made with the highest quality products available. The sculpt work is done with Aves Apoxie. the painting is done using Citadel Brand paints from Games Workshop. The parts and accessories are made from existing Marvel Legends and SOTA street fighter figures.”

K&L Customs brings another great Marvel Comics character to life with their Custom Black Widow figure. Created by this talented husband and wife team, this figure is very well sculpted and I am very impressed by the hair as it looks free flowing and natural. They also chose the right shade of red for her as it mirrors the comic and matches her skin tone. The costume design is very well detailed and I especially like the belt and the way that her collar flips up as it gives the figure attitude, an aspect that comes through naturally in this figure.

Black Widow’s Powers
The Black Widow has received a variant of the Super-Soldier Serum which has enabled her to remain in peak physical condition for the past several decades, as well as slowing her aging process to some degree.

Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Interview, l.designs

I was introduced to l.design’s talent when I first reviewed his Custom Marvel Legends Icon Batman back in January and he continues to provide his fans the unique, one of a kind custom experience that only he can deliver. Week after week, l.designs produces top quality customs. I had the great opportunity to interview l.designs so let’s learn more about this talented customizer.
AFC: Tell the fans of your work a little about yourself
Lehgraphics@gmail.com and I will be more than happy to help you. I usually work on custom versions of characters that made an impression on me as a kid, that can be hit and miss as far as other peoples taste goes, so yeah if you want to see my spin on a character let me know, you can even include reference pictures to get me going on the right track.
AFC: When did you start making customs?
l.designs: Truth be told, I think I was altering and tinkering around with my toys since I was about 12 or 13. I recently started doing this for the public however about a year ago or so. Before action figures I was doing wargaming terrain for a few years (and still am) after that I started constructing custom lightsabers (still do a few of them here and there as well).
AFC: How many customs do you work on at one time?
l.designs: Anywhere between 1 and 5, that way I always have something to do and am not stopped dead in my tracks to wait for paint or apoxie sculpt to cure.
AFC: What is the custom you are most proud of?
l.designs: I would have to say whatever I am currently working on. Well if I have to really pick maybe the second 12 inch Batman I just finished, or maybe the 6 inch Swamp Thing.

AFC: What is your favorite toy line to do customs for?
l.designs: Marvel Legends without a doubt…the Toy Biz ones. However people have been bugging me to do some Transformers so…
AFC: What customs do you have lined up for your next ones?
l.designs: I am currently working on some classic Spiderman villains with my twist on them. And I just today dropped off a nightmare demon version of the 12 inch Batman at Heroes Alley
AFC: If you had one piece of advice for other customizers out there, what would you say to them?
l.designs: Follow your passion, and you will do your best work! Enjoy what you are doing, it shows through in your end product. There are a ton of resources online if you need inspiration or help.

Snake Eyes version 2 has to be one of my all time favorite molds from the GI Line and agimatoys has outdone themselves with their Custom Marvel Legends Snake Eyes V2 that boasts 44 points of articulation! This is one of the best versions of Snake Eyes I have seen in a long time and it pays a nice homage to the original 3 3/4 inch figure. The details are amazing with this one from the notching in the belts and holsters to the arrows on his right hand. The mask is nicely proportioned to the face and even, something that is really difficult to do. The paint colors mirror its 1980’s counterpart and all in all this is probably the Custom Snake Eyes to own at this point so the high bidder of this one is going to be one happy camper.

NTT brings a classic X-Men character to life with his Custom Marvel Legends X-Men Polaris figure. Capturing the essence of the comic version of Polaris, this figure is very well scultped and the costume flows seamlessly into her body. The hair is my favorite part of this custom as she looks like she is taking flight and her hair is flowing in the breeze. The shades of green compliment the figure nicely and really bring out the features of the figure. Let’s take a closer look at how NTT created this great figure:
“Remodeled the hair on the Circe to resemble the hairdo Polaris had on the cover of the Xmen comic. In fact, she was completely painted in the same green tone as she appeared on the cover. Man, she just looked galactic, totally absorbed in her magnetic aura and doing her mutant thing! It was this gravity-defying element in her pose that was interesting to behold, and wanted to convey in this custom. This meant sculpting her hair to appear as though it was floating, showing a sense of lightness. Basically started by flipping the hair around to the other side, then sculpted over the seams. Her face-guard was cut from blister package, then glued on. Nip/tucked her boobs and legs also with apoxie – and replaced the feet with ankles from a Spidey figure, (for the ankle articulation) – it complimented her “in-flight” pose. Also adjusted the cape just like the way it’s flowing on the comic cover as a way to give tribute to Jim Steranko’s style of drawing – very Kirbyesque. The illustration, in all its potent, monochromatic green color, and stylized design is classic comic art at its best – pure enjoyment. Wanted to capture the detail and likeness of this version of Polaris.”

After you are finished looking at NTT’s Polaris, head over to eBay and check out more Custom Marvel Legends figures.

Polaris is a mutant with the ability to manipulate magnetism. Although she has the potential to exercise all of the powers that Magneto has, as yet she has only used powers involving the manipulation of magnetic, electrical, and gravitic fields. Moreover, she cannot summon as great an amount of energy as Magneto can. The exact limits on the amount weight that she can magnetically lift at present have not been measured, but they are considerably below those of Magneto. Since she has preferred not to use her powers in combat situations, she has not worked nearly as hard to develop them as Magneto has. As with Magneto, it is unknown whether Polaris’s powers are purely psionic or whether they derive from her physically. Polaris has been observed levitating metallic objects and creating force fields in which she can suspend persons or objects in the air and in which she can protect them from attacks from outside the fields. She can also overload or short-circuit electrical systems. By concentrating, Polaris can perceive the world around herself solely as patterns of magnetic and electrical energy. She can perceive the natural magnetic auras surrounding living beings, as well. For a time, Polaris possessed superhuman strength and durability, as well as the ability to temporarily increase her height and mass by drawing on negative energy around her.

l.designs brings another classic figure to life with his Custom Marvel Legends Golobulus figure from the GI Joe toy line. The original Golobulus figure was met with mixed reactions but this reincarnation is sure to be a hit! There are many aspects of this custom that really hit the mark. For example the, the eye patch is well done and I like the lack of eyeball, which gives Golobulus a very menacing and unique look. In my opinion, the tail is the best part of this custom. The sculpting looks like it took a really long time and great attention to detail was paid to this piece. The scales look really great and I like the way it flows to a point at the end.
Head over to eBay and find more Custom Marvel Legends figures!
Descended from the serpent kings of pre-history, Golobulus rules over Cobra-La, a hidden, secret valley in the Himalayas where the high priests of the Bio-Mechanical cult have created a technology based solely on living organisms. The buildings of Cobra-La are really colonies of crustaceans, and the clothes of inhabitants are as alive as the people who wear them. Golobulus has achieved immortality through symbiosis . . . at the cost of his humanity. The plates of Golobulus’ body armor are living mutations of lobsters and crabs, each genetically altered to perform a specific function and bred for the tensile strength of their chitonous shells. Over the centuries, so much of Golobulus’ body parts have been replaced or bio-mechanically altered that very little of the original is left except for his brain and his central nervous system.

One of my favorite toy lines to play with as a child was the Thundercats. I would religously watch the TV show and play with the toys at the same time. I am happy to see that there are still some Thundercats customizers out there and vegeta8259 has made a great looking Custom Marvel Legends Mumm-Ra figure from a Sasquatch figure. He chose a great base to work with and like he said, they shared similar body types and I am very happy to see how a very poor figure was turned into a classic! I really like the soft goods that were used and the way the body was sculpted really brings out the fact that Mumm-Ra is of the living dead. The crown adds a great touch to the figure and really completes the look. This is a great example of the creativity that is out there in the customizing world and the vision for transforming a Sasquatch figure into a 1980’s icon. I was lucky enough to correspond with vegeta8259 and here is how he made Mumm-ra:
“I just used a dremel to remove the fur texture off Sasquatch, but not completely smooth cuz i wanted him to still have that tattered mummy look. I left the fur around his ankles cuz luckily Mumm-Ra has the same thing. Then I molded his wrist and shin guards and crown out of epoxy resin and filed his teeth to make them pointy. Next, I painted the whole figure with acrylics. The cape was cut out from an old shirt and dyed red on one side and painted black on the other. The bandages are just strips of an old sock I was gonna throw away.”

l.designs has taken a down and dirty approach to customizing with his Custom Marvel Legends Swamp Thing. The character is a humanoid mass of vegetable matter who fights to protect his swamp home, the environment in general, and humanity from various supernatural or terroristic threats. This is a great piece for any Swamp Thing fan and the detail is quite stunning. The coloring really brings out the likeness of the Swamp Thing and sculpting adds depth and cements the true likeness of this horror classics icon. I love the added effect of the gloss making him appear to be wet and the vines and roots are integrated so well into the figure that it looks like the Swamp Thing’s blood is pumping right through them. l.designs explains more about his process and how he created this:
“A lot of time and attention to detail went into making this as accurate as possible to available reference material I could dig up, and well….my imagination. Swamp Thing was always one of my favorites so this toy meant a lot to me to produce. I did a total resculpt on the head, and body, and well… everything. I went all out to get a real feel for the swamp on this one. It’s all here, roots and vine detail, and even topped off with some real lichen to add some depth and realism! I covered all the joint holes and in the process I retained all points of articulation (a little restricted in the neck area however). I used a wide range of painting techniques to get the final look you see here (much better in person). Matte clear cote was used throughout the process, and then highlighted with some gloss ’cause after all he is in the swamp right…. he should look a bit wet.”

midnitestarz captures the essence of an X-Men classic with his Custom Marvel Legends Apocalypse figure. The paint aps are very nicely done, especially on the head where the mix of blues, silver, and black brings out the detail and gives the figure added depth. The red in the eyes is just plain cool! The shield and weapon help this custom stay true to how Apocalypse is represented in the X-Men universe.
This awesome Custom Marvel Legends Apocalypse figure is up for bid on eBay so head over there and place a very high bid for midnitestarz’s one of kind piece. When you are finished looking at it, go check out other Custom Marvel Legends figures.
Apocalypse is a mutant who possesses superhuman strength which he can augment by psionically drawing on outside energy sources. Apocalypse can alter the atomic structure of his body at will in order to change his form. He can even increase his size by taking on additional mass from a presumably extra-dimensional source. Through his ability to alter his form, Apocalypse can give himself virtually any superhuman physical power. Apocalypse’s “costume” is actually part of his body, and he can psionically alter its appearance at will. He can levitate himself telekinetically. Apocalypse has an extraordinarily long life span that has already lasted thousands of years. He can survive for weeks without food or water and can rapidly recover from injuries that would prove fatal to normal human beings. In the future, however, his physical form will eventually grow too aged and enfeebled to contain his vast superhuman energies. Hence, he will transfer his consciousness and powers into a succession of host bodies, abandoning each one when it too grows too old to contain his power.

taddy333 bring his Custom Marvel Legends Forge X-Men figure to life with an excellent paint job and comic likeness. What I like about this figure is the black washing, which really brings out the detail and adds another dimension to Forge. The yellows and the blues compliment each other nicely.

Head over to eBay if you would like to see more Custom Marvel Legends figures or If you want to read more about Forge’s abilities, powers, and weapons, read on below:
Forge can intuitively create almost any device imaginable using his mutant ability – an uncanny and almost empathic ability to understand machines and to perceive “mechanical energy.” He has created fantastic futuristic devices including cybernetic systems (to replace his lost hand and leg), sophisticated holograms, and elaborate computer and fiberoptic systems. Forge is an accomplished athlete and trained soldier. He also has a high mystical aptitude and has developed several magical spells, including a so-called “spirit sight,” the ability to open portals to other dimensions, and the ability to use others’ souls to enhance his mystical spells. Forge usually carries high-tech weaponry of his own design.

Darthleon Customs ranks very high on my list for must have customs and he continues to deliver week after week and brings us his Custom Marvel Legends Vance Astro figure. The sculpting and the costume design appear to be very high quality and he chose a great shade of deep blue. The black washing brings out the detail in the figure.
There are several aspects of the way the head is painted and sculpted that really bring this custom to life. The facial color is spot in and the hair actually looks like it is flowing, a very hard aspect to pull off! The eyes look alive and the blue costume is nicely proportioned around the head. All in all, a really great custom that you should be proud to have in your collection, which you can bid on so head over to Darth Leon’s auction page try and win his Custom Marvel Legends Vance Astro figure.
More About Vance Astro
Vance Astro possesses the psionic ability of psychokinesis, the ability to affect matter with his mind. For some reason, Vance’s psionic powers can only be manifested as “psyche-blasts”, focused psychokinetic blasts of explosive force, that can disrupt the synapses in the minds of any living being they strike. Lately, Vance has shown some marginal improvement of the control of his psychokinesis, such as generating small psionic pulses to slow the descent of falling people, or gentle psychic bursts to move objects forwards or backwards (all without inflicitng any damage on the people or objects). During the time when he carried Captain America’s shield in combat, he would use his power to propel the shield and manipulate its flight path, simulating the Captain’s use of the shield as a throwing weapon. All of these abilities were augmented by a transfusion of Hollywood’s (A 1000 year old Simon Williams) ionically enhanced blood.

Captain America has been an all time favorite for everyone and collectablekid delivers his version of this American classic with his Custom Marvel Legends Captain America. The sculpting on this figure is spot on with great detailing, even down to the scallops on his chest. The colors work really well together and I like the way he uses black to outline and add depth to the figure. The ‘A’ and the star are proportioned nicely and all around this is an awesome figure.
collectablekid describes how he created this great piece:
- Figure has been totally re-sculpted to portray Ultimates 3 Captain America as drawn by Joe Madureira
- Some sculpted detailing includes all star emblems & stripes on costume, the A emblem & mask, gloves & boots
- Detailed paint application featuring weathering effects and realistic shading
- Painted by hand- 6 & 1/2 inches tall – in scale with DC Direct’s Ed McGuinness style(Superman/Batman, JLA Classified) figures
- Shield and Ultimates display stand included with figure (shield is not removable)

Hitting theatres 5/28/2008 is the Ironman movie which I am sure will be a huge hit and preempting the movie release is Jin Saotome’s version of Ironman in Custom Marvel Legends Style. Jin’s Ironman is highly detailed with a finish you don’t find on many customs. The figures is painted in a metallic style and really shines, giving the figure the illusion of being made of iron. The head is custom made perfectly proportioned. Another great feature of this custom is the rocket pack, which is originally found on the Classics Jetfire Transformers figure, which was painted great and washed with black detail. I wonder what Jin has in store for a Jetfire sans rocket pack…anyways…here is how he created this great looking figure:
“To celebrate the big screen event of our metallic hero I give you my version of Iron Man. He’s been painted with metallic red and yellow (ignore the somewhat green tinge to my camera lighting) and has a high gloss shine. Different sections are blacklined to show depth and there’s natural shading/highlights when the light hits him. His head is custom made and he has articulated fingers! There’s no Iron Man like this one available and it’s not one of the movie figures either, it’s a one-of-a-kind custom figure. Even though he’s completely poseable I’d handle him gently as his armor has a high gloss shine to it and you’ll want to avoid scratching it. Plug on the Stark MG720 rocket pack and he’s ready to head across the globe, into space, or wherever the Avengers need him! The rocket pack also converts to combat mode by sliding the back sections that reveal two spring-loaded lasers cannons.”

I had the opportunity to interview Michael Amore back in December and I was impressed by his attention to detail and quality of craftsmanship. This week, he has a Custom Marvel Legends Nightwing up for sale and I continue to be marvel (ha ha) at his customs. What I like about this custom are the paint aps as they look really smooth and have a gloss finish. The colors really compliment each other and the lines are of particular note as there are many straight lines on this custom that flow really nicely together. The figure looks like it is peering through you, an aspect very hard to pull off in a custom. All in all, Michael Amore has created another hit which I am sure will please fans.

Straight out of the pages of Marvel Comics comes darthleon customs’ Custom Marvel Legends Deadpool. Down to the boots, darthleon has really stayed true to the comic version of Deadpool. The mask is sculpted very well and the ridging on the head gives the figure much needed depth and perspective. The accent pieces around the thigh and the belt look like they were paid extreme attention too as it is the little things that make this custom great! The colors on the thigh holster and belt are weathered and center buckle (for lack of a better term) is nicely proportioned. Overall, this is one Custom Deadpool you would want to own and be proud of.

collectablekid has created another timeless classic with his Custom Marvel Legends Punisher War Journal Captain America. One thing that always struck me about his customs was his skill and ability to sculpt. One aspect that I really like about this custom are the slight deviations from the comic. For example, in the comic, the ammo belt that Punisher wears is made of of bullets. In this custom, the bullets blend in with the skull as if they are the teeth, which works great because when the accessories are taken off, the figure retains the essence of the Punisher. Another aspect I like about this custom are the accessories. This one comes chalk full of guns, goggles, and a utility harness, which is hand crafted for this figure with an authentic belt clip, flexible military-webbing style material, working dual hip-holsters, knife sheathe, and strap for large gun. These accessories are the same high quality as the figure so you know they are awesome! collectablekid is one of the most talented sculptors I have come across so be sure to look out for his customs as they are sure to please.

After Frank Castle’s family was killed by mobsters, he swore to avenge his family by wiping out crime in the most brutal ways possible as the Punisher. Still on his quest, the Punisher has resurfaced in a world where supervillains are everywhere and he’s setting his sights on these suped-up criminals. With a healthy dose of black humor and plenty of action, this title is great for all but the youngest of Marvel fans. Frank Castle is adopting a whole new patriotic costume in the pages of Punisher War Journal as this buzz-worthy title is sure to turn heads in the coming months. Punisher War Journal #7 will see the Punisher in his new costume taking on the old Captain America villain Hate-Monger.

Wanderer-X brings us this Custom Marvel Legends Vault Guardsmen this week. The armor is perfectly sculpted, especially on the head, which is nicely proportioned. If you want to own this great piece, go check out his auction and his other customs for sale this week on his seller page. If you want more information about the Vault Guardsmen, read more below.
The Guardsman armor gave the wearer superhuman strength allowing the operator to lift 40 tons under optimal conditions (for about 3 minutes). The armor’s high-carbon steel alloy mesh and radiation shielding also offer protection from most ballistic and even energy weapons. The armor can fly via boot jets at a maximum speed of 250 mph for 3 hours, and contains 30 minutes air supply for submersion or high altitude flight.
Deep within the adamantium-lined walls of the high-tech prison known as the Vault, the world’s most dangerous super-villains are kept in line by the stalwart Guardsmen. Each Guardsman wears incredibly advanced battle armor designed by Tony Stark and is skilled in a myriad of combat techniques. But a Guardsman’s most valuable asset is his detailed knowledge of each super-villain’s power – knowledge that comes in handy when dealing with the likes of Venom, Carnage, or any number of sinister symbiotes!

Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Interview, rombado
This week I had the pleasure of interviewing Rombado, a Marvel Legends customizer who caught my eye with an awesome Custom Marvel Legends Storm Shadow! Let’s get to know him a little better:
AFC: Tell the fans of your work a little about yourself (include website and contact info)
I hurt my back in a tragic work accident, back in 1999. I was a restaurant manager and was doing my inventory in the storeroom. When all of a sudden I heard a crack from behind me. It was the leg braking on one of our storage racks, it stood about 5′ high and weighed about 300lbs. Before I could even think, it came crashing down on me and pinned me to the floor. Now, I’m a pretty big guy, 6′ 1″ 230lbs, and I worked out all the time, so my first thought was to push myself up. Big mistake! as soon as I began to push I felt a pull in my lower back, it felt like a rubber band snapping. I thought it was just a torn muscle and waited for help to arrive. When they pulled the rack off me, I stood up with some assistance but didn’t feel too bad, just very sore. So, I was sent home to rest and when I woke up the next day I couldn’t move. I have never felt pain like that in my life, it was so bad that I had to crawl to the bathroom. After I went to the doctor I found out I had a ruptured disk, and needed surgery immediately. I felt some relief afterwards, but in just a few short months I began feeling more back pain. So, 6 years later I’ve had 5 lower back surgeries, and my spine is fused from the middle of my back down to my tailbone. That means I have two 3″ screws in each of my disk and a cage that surrounds it, which has left me permanently disabled. I’ve learned to control the pain through mediation and medication. The funny thing is, I hold multiple Black Belts, played sports, jumped out of planes, climbed mountains, served in the Army, and I have always pushed myself to be the best in everything I do, and it took a frickin’ rack of food to take me out. I was so depressed for several years during the last 7 that I thought I’d never be anything close to what I was. But, through the love of daughters I found the meaning to life. “LOVE”, is the key to everything and w/o it, I can’t honestly say I don’t know if I’d be here today, b/c some of the days I went through were just too black to see past ‘em. I’ve realized through my experiences that nothing compares to the adrenaline rush of having a family. And now I AM a Superhero in their eyes. So, that’s the skinny on the history about the man I am today. I’m sorry if it got too long winded, I can be that way sometimes. It’s just I felt you should know the man as well as the Customizer. I’ve always been an Artist, drawing, painting, and sculpting. So, when I found out about Customizing in Aug. 2004 ( Thanks to Actorjez’s Conan), I was so happy b/c it gave me an outlet for working and purpose. That’s why I push myself so hard at it, b/c to me it’s more then a hobby, it’s my only job. I can’t believe how blessed I’ve been b/c of it, and thank God everyday for it. I love creating my custom figures, and a hope you enjoy viewing them at my gallery http://www.thefwoosh.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19799 Please, feel free to contact me rombado@cebridge.net

AFC: When did you start making customs?Rombado: August 2004
AFC: How many customs do you work on at one time?
Rombado: I usually just work on one custom at a time, but always have a few on the back burner I’m tweaking with new ideas.
AFC: What is the custom you are most proud of?
AFC: What is your favorite toy line to do customs for?
Rombado: I have to go with Marvel Legends for this one. Although I do create customs from most toy lines ML is the line I got my start in this field and holds a special place in my heart for that.
AFC: What customs are you currently working on?
AFC: If you had one piece of advice for other customizers out there, what would you say to them?

carloss7930 has created a one of kind Custom Marvel Legends Jean Grey Phoenix figure that deserves special note! In keeping with the Marvel Comic style for the figure, this Jean Grey comes equipped with nice paint aps and custom flames. The facial features are very realistic and he did a great job getting the facial tone right. The eyes are amazing as they feel they are staring right through you. The shadowing and coloring of the hair have nice shades of red and are perfectly shadowed. The flames add a very nice touch to this figure, which sets this one apart from other customs. I think the winner of the this figure will be very happy as this is one of the best Jean Grey figures I have come across to date.

l.designs’ Custom Marvel Legends Icon Batman is one of the best I have seen. Here are the details and more information about this awesome custom from l.designs himself:
“This yet another departure from the regular Marvel characters, a beautiful rendition of Batman with some of my Kelly Jones influence showing. Almost hate to sell this one, as it turned out so well. A lot of time and attention to detail went into making this as accurate as possible to available reference material I could dig up. I did a bit of resculpt on the head, removed the rubber cape and added a sculpted real cloth cape. Most of the work on this guy comes in at the painting stage, as I repainted the whole thing. I used a wide range of painting techniques to get the final look you see here (much better in person). You will see when you get this one that there are various levels of paint. It was undercoated in gray, then shaded and highlighted with airbrush. Finally a wash was added to bring out the detail as well a rough it back up a bit. Most of the detail doesn’t come through in these pictures, but the detail on the face is as amazing as the rest of the piece. The original toy had a lot of detail that didn’t even show up in their paint job, including zippers along the sides of the boots, the cracked look of worn leather in certain areas of the boots. It even looks like a rougher leather on the pads of the gloves, seams and everything. Originally this was a great looking toy already, I just added a bit of my taste to it, and then poured everything I had into the paint job! Matte clear cote was used throughout the process. Only the highest quality paints and clear cote used: Tamiya, Liquitex, and such. Also super tough plastic epoxy putty for the sculpt.”

This year, the GI Joe line has been back in full force for collector’s with the 25th Anniversary vintage figures so I am not surprised we are seeing great work coming out if this line in the form of awesome customs. Some of the high points of this figure include the vintage styling and a great choice of white for the paint aps. Also, the addition of the soft goods around the wrists and ankles really add something extra to the figure. The Arashikage dojo display and the weapons rounds off the awesome work of rombado for his Custom Marvel Legends Storm Shadow, which is available on eBay so bid for your chance to own this great piece!

I had the great pleasure of interviewing geejayscustoms back in December 2007 and I am happy to feature another one of his fantastic customs. You can read the full interview here!
This week, he brings us his Custom Marvel Legends Venom, from the Spiderman 3 Movie in Marvel Legends Style. I love the way this figure exudes villainy! The tongue is just the right size and teeth are proportional to the head. I would not want to come across this in a dark alley.
I was able to get the recipe from geejay and here is what he had to say, “I took Hasbro’s ML Venom and popped off the head. Then i took one of Black Arachnis’s casted Venom head from one of the older spider man figure lines. I dremeled the neck to fit on the neck of Hasbro’s Venom, and resculpted part of the back of the head to look more subtle. The whole figure was then painted with black and retouched the spider symbol and finally, added iridescent glaze to give it that shiney look to it.”
I dig the glaze as it makes the figure really stand out. It is great to get into the minds of the customizers as everyone is a unique and talented artist. Geejayscustom’s Custom Marvel Legends Venom is available on eBay so head over there and read more about it!

Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Custom Marvel Legends Doomsday, Doomsday, mairagirl05, Marvel Legends

Straight out of the pages of DC comics, mairagirl05 has created a superior version of Doomsday in Marvel Legends style. This version of Doomsday was inspired by the Death of Superman comic (Superman #75, 1993). What I like about it this custom is how mairagirl05 took a mediocre produced figure and transformed it into something that fans love. Using sculpting techniques with clay and plastic, this Doomsday figure comes alive. The colors on this custom really compliment the figure nicely and add to the gritty feeling that Doomsday exudes. The face just screams badness and I really like the way the right eye was done and and the teeth. If you look at the original Doomsday figure (see below), it looks like he has a goofy grin on his face. By resculpting the face, the figure takes on a menacing look. Here is what the original Doomsday figure looked like before mairagirl05 got a hold of it:

As you can see, the difference is night and day and the cool thing is that you can own this very figure by going to eBay and bidding on this Custom Marvel Legends Doomsday figure!

When diplomacy fails and international law breaks down, James Rhodes – head of the human rights group, WorldWatch – dons his solar-charged steel mesh battle armor to become the world’s number one weapon in the struggle against injustice and oppression!
Straight from the pages of Marvel Comics (ok, 25 issues of the comic), DW40 Customs brings us his Custom Marvel Legends War Machine. Staying true to the comics, the paints aps are in a nice silver and gun metal grey. One cool feature of this custom are the rockets and the fire blast coming out of the gun. Sculpting takes talent and I really like the effect of the rockets bursting from the launcher with a plume of white smoke followed by red and orange burns.

Before I start in on this Custom Marvel Legends Cable by Mojo1 Customs, this is AFC’s 100th blog and we’re still going strong. Straight from the pages of Marvel Comics comes Mojo1 Custom’s version of Cable in Marvel Legends Style
. The left eye of Cable is cool as it looks like he is going to use this abilities to force people to bid on Mojo1’s auction! Seriously, this custom is very well made and the paint aps compliment the figure nicely and stay true to the comic version of Cable. The hair looks natural and the facial features seem real.
I was forutunate enough to correspond with Mojo1 Customs and he shed some light on how he made this great piece: “Well, the recipe goes as such…Legendary Heroes Savage Dragon upper torso and head, the lower torso and legs from a TNA Kip James figure. I sculpted the extras on his bio-organic arm, facial scars and hair. Slpped it all together and paint.”
This awesome piece is available on eBay so head over there and bid on this great Custom Marvel Legends X-Men Cable.
More about Cable
Cable is a mutant who possesses incredibly powerful telepathy and telekinetic abilities. These abilities have been limited by his need to restrain his techno-organic infection. As his powers grew, he was able to use his powers to perform greater and greater feats, without fear of losing control over his T-O virus. His telepathy increased to where he could read minds, broadcast his thoughts to either communicate with others or control minds, and fire mind-shattering psychic blasts. Without the effects of the virus, his telepathic and telekinetic powers are comparable in strength to those of X-Man, but enhanced by Cable’s greater levels of experience, intelligence, and his Askani training.

Tags: Custom Marvel Legends, Custom Marvel Legends Ronin, Horton's Heroes, Marvel Legends, Ronin
Horton’s Heroes brings us this Custom Marvel Legends Ronin, a figure that takes on different identities. The name “Ronin” refers to the Japanese term for a masterless samurai, a lone warrior. Maya Lopez was the first person to don the Ronin identity. A deaf woman with photographic reflexes, Maya became Ronin to investigate the Silver Samurai in Japan. Clint Barton is the second person to don the Ronin identity, becoming Ronin when he rejoined the New Avengers in the aftermath of Civil War.
What is truly unique about this custom are the interchangeable heads. It is like you are getting 3 figures in 1 with this great figure. The paint aps are superb and the gold seems to flow, as if the figure were wearing a soft good, a testament to the fine detailing, patience, and skill of the customizer. Horton’s Heroes has really captured the essence of Ronin and stayed true to the comic book resemblance. I would rank this Custom Marvel Legends Ronin as one of the best I have seen to date. To shed some light about this figure, Horton’s Heroes explains:

“Ronin can be all 3 characters, regular ronin head, Maya Lopez, or Clint Barton aka Hawkeye. All 3 heads are magnetic so you can use any of the looks you want for Ronin. The sculpting on this custom almost fried my brain, it was very, very, challenging! His heads are custom sculpted, arm armor, shoulder pads, chest, leg armor, skirt, and he was painted using both airbrush and a lot of hand detailing to give him just the right glimmer. He is still very poseable as well. Oh… yeah his numchucks are custom made as well with real chain.”
This awesome Custom Marvel Legends Ronin is available on eBay so place your bid quick or view the rest of the photos from this great piece.

Nuffsaid Customs brings us this gritty, straight out of the depths and massive cavern beneath the Himalayas, Custom Marvel Legends Nemesis Enforcer figure from the GI Joe line. Modeling the figure from the 1980’s mold, Nuffsaid has taken the lack luster original concept and taken it to new heights. As Nuffsaid told me, the base figure is made from an AOA Marvel Legends Sabretooth and he resculpted the head, chest, and legs. The wings, which are the coolest part of the figure, are from a Mcfarlane Dragon figure. The Cobra La is definitely a force to be reckon with if they looked like this. The paint aps look raw but that is the look, in my opinion, that Nuffsaid was going for. As the auction states, the figure is sealed so it will retain this gritty look. The wings look like they are a part of Nemesis Enforcer’s body and spawning from his back. If you remember, the original NE had florescent green wings that did not compliment the figure. Granted it was the 1980’s, the figure really fell short and disappointed fans. Good thing that Nuffsaid is here to right the wrong that was the Cobra La.
Nemesis Enforcer is available on eBay and he also is selling Custom Marvel Legends Golobulus and Pythona, a must have for any Cobra La or GI Joe fan. Here are some more pictures of Nemesis Enforcer and the others:

Thundercats was one of my favorite cartoons and toy lines to collect when I was a kid. I have fond memories of fashioning fortresses and various types of devices out of Lego’s to enhance my Thundercats playing experience. boskoestoys has created one of the legendary Thundercats, Lion-O, in Marvel Legends style.

A couple of high points for this custom include the overall enhancement of the 1980’s figure by using the Marvel Legends figure as the base. I took a look at the cartoon rendering of Lion-O and this figure matches more closely the physique from the drawings this figure is a great likeness of Lion-O. The logo design on the belt is an excellently drawn and styled, paying a nice homage to the classic. Finally, the sword design goes above and beyond and truly enhances the look of the figure. Since Lion-O’s sword was an integral part of the cartoon, boskoestoys has built the Excalibur of Thundercats swords, perfectly fitting for Lion-O.
Your chance to own this great figure is just a click away at eBay so go hurry and bid on this Custom Marvel Legends Lion-O figure!

Hot off the heals of collectablekid’s Custom Green Arrow is his Custom Marvel Legends X-Men Havok in stunning detail. Styled after the X-Men comic book drawn by Salvador Larroca, collectablekid brings Havok to life and frees him from the pages of the comics. This has been a work in progress for a couple years for the collectablekid and he recently found the unfinished work, which was only lacking a simple paintjob. Having started this figure in his early customizing days, he finished it up in a matter of days and here it is!
Instead of a simple repaint, collectablekid put his sculpting talent to use once again and captures Havok’s ability to absorb cosmic radiation. If you look closely, the white detailing on the chest and other parts of the body have a powdery look to them, which gives the illusion of energy flowing through the body. The X is perfectly proportioned and the sculpting looks natural. The blue visor and the gauntlets extending from the forearms are adaptations from the comics and are welcome additions to the figure. Like I have said before, collectablekid has really detailed sculpts, which sets his customs apart from other straight repaints.

Here are the details from the auction:
ONE OF A KIND Havok figure based on his look in the X-men comic book drawn
by Salvador Larroca- detailed re-sculpted, repainted by hand custom figure
Articulated neck, shoulders, elbows, and knees- magnetic feet allow figure

Havok is a mutant with the superhuman ability to absorb ambient cosmic energy into the cells of his body, transform it in an unknown manner, and release it as waves of energy that heat the air in their path enough to turn it into plasma, which is a super-heated state of matter consisting of charged subatomic particles. These waves will emanate from his body in all directions unless he purposefully tries to channel them in a single direction, usually along the length of his arms. Havok is himself immune to the intense heat he creates, as well as the power blasts generated by his brother Cyclops.
Despite past accounts, the energy that Havok releases is not truly a concussive force. When Havok strikes an object with the waves of intensity of hot plasma, the sudden vast jump in temperature will often cause objects to shatter, explode, or seemingly disintegrate, and an observer might therefore wrongly think that the object had been struck by a concussive force. Should Havok direct his energy at the lowest level, he can project it towards a human being and his target will suffer a severe headache but will not burn up.
Havok’s body is constantly in the process of absorbing cosmic radiation. When each of his body’s power-storage cell enclaves reaches its capacity, excess cosmic energy is thereafter absorbed and immediately re-emitted in negligible quantities. Upon the total expenditure of all his available energy, it takes Havok’s body about 16 hours to recharge to its peak level. The act of concentration involved in releasing his energy in anything other than an omnidirectional wave is physically exhausting for Havok if he continues it over an extended period of time.

I have always admired collectablekid’s ability to sculpt figures as he has taken customizing to the next level. His Custom Marvel Legends Green Arrow is no exception! Crafted after the Smallville appearance of Green Arrow, collectablekid has done an amazing job bringing this one to life. Here are some of the details from the auction:
- ONE OF A KIND Green Arrow figure based on his look in the CW television series SMALLVILLE- detailed, re-sculpted, repainted by hand custom figure
- 34 points of articulation (neck, fingers, wrists, shoulders, elbows, hips, waist, knees, feet, ankles…)- in scale with other current DC and Legends figures (approximately 7″ tall w/hood
- Custom made accessories include: high-tech longbow, 2 longbow arrows, crossbow, 1 crossbow arrow
There are a few aspects of this custom that really stand out. First, the costume design is one of the high points of this custom. I especially like the way hood lays on the figure as it is very natural and flows with the figure. The colors are perfect for this figure as the right shades of green were selected and applied in stunning detail. The signature ‘G’ on the front of the figure rounds out the costume and it is this level of attention to detail that makes collectablekid’s customs special. Second, this custom actually looks human as the figure is proportional and the face of the figure has an element of mystery and emotion, something very hard to achieve in a custom but collectablekid has talent! Finally, the weapons complete this figure. The high tech long bow and crossbow are to scale with the figure and how the character on the show wielded them. To put it simply, the weapons are bad ass!

This highly detailed one of a kind Custom Green Arrow is up for grabs on eBay so place your bid now!

Soaring from the pages of Marvel Comics comes this Custom Marvel Legends Nighthawk by Michael-Amore. Staying true to the representation of Nighthawk in the Marvel Universe, Michael-Amore has created a comic accurate piece that I am sure will be well sought after! The sculpting around the eyes is very well proportioned and adds depth to figure, allow the eyes to be seen, giving the figure its own personality. The hawk design on the chest is perfectly proportioned as well and mirrors that of one of the versions found in the comics (see below). The way the wings flow into the sculpts on the shoulders in nicely executed and gives the figure a very natural look for having been combined from 3 different Marvel Legends figures. All in all, this figure an excellent example of the talent it takes to make a custom come to life like Michael-Amore has achieved. I was able to get some insight directly from the source on how he created this great custom:
“I used a Captian America body, the wings from Arc Angel
and Banshee’s arms from the forearms down…I used self drying clay to make the arms smooth at the connection and to sculpt his wing attachments on his chest…for his paint job I used flat blue and a clear blue for the blues, flat yellow and a clear yellow for the yellows…the wings are a semi-gloss red…plus all his joints have been reduced buy a dremmel and then hand sanded with a fine grade sand paper!”
This Custom Marvel Legends Nighthawk is available on eBay and featured on my home page of ActionFigureCustoms.com so check it out and place your bid early as I am sure this will be one hot auction!

Kyle Richmond lived a privileged life of luxury, making him spoiled, irresponsible, and insubordinate. His irresponsibility led to tragedy, however, when he drove drunk and caused an accident that killed his girlfriend. He sought refuge in being drafted for the army, but he was rejected when a physical revealed he had a heart murmur. He threw himself into his life of luxury, all the while secretly searching for a cure. Finding a mysterious formula in an ancient book, Kyle re-created and drank it, discovering his body gained superhuman powers, but only at night. Due to the effects of an alchemical serum, Nighthawk possesses superhuman strength, endurance, and recuperative powers during the night. (In daylight Nighthawk has normal human strength, although at one point he remained paralyzed during the day.)

Straight out of the pages of Marvel Comics, K&L and M1 Customs brings us their version of Cannonball in the Marvel Legends Style, a mutant that generates a thermal/kinetic field around himself which renders him invulnerable and allows him to fly. What a great team they made and it shows! The high points of the this custom Cannonball center around 3 areas: The Hair, eyes, and the upper body.
First, the way the hair was sculpted really gives this figure some depth and character. The deep lines and grooves make the hair flow and give Cannonball a realistic look and finish. They even went to the detail of making the back of his head mimic what real hair would do if it was bound with goggles above it (e.g., the hair below the goggle line is fringed and looks different than the hair above the goggle line.
Second, the eyes gives this custom a look that Shaft would be proud of….”Cannonball is one bad mutha…shut your mouth!” Seriously, the eyes are perfectly centered and give the figure a couple looks depending on the angle. The first look I can see is one of staring off into the distance, as if he was awaiting something. The second look I can see (from a different angle) is one of shear badness! You would not want to cross this dude!
Finally, the upper body of the costume was sculpted to match the comic representation of Cannonball, even down to the small raised circles of the costume near on his chest. The circles are well rounded and give more depth to the figure. Cannonball is rounded off with a big ‘C’ on the chest and the shoulders, making this custom a very fine piece of art.
This figure is currently listed on eBay so head over there and check out this awesome Custom Marvel Legends Cannonball by K&L and M1 Customs.

ltlwiz brings us his latest creation with this Custom Marvel Legends X-Men Warpath figure. The attention to detail on this Warpath is excellent! There are very few that go the extra mile and you can tell from the solid paint job and black detailing on the chest and abs that really set this figure apart from the rest. Hair is one of the toughest aspects of a custom to get right (along with the nose) but the hair on this custom flows very naturally and adds depth to this great figure. To tell you more about his custom, ltlwiz explains in his own words:
“Up for auction is a “Custom Marvel Legends Warpath” in a his new X-Men outfit. He is about 7 inches tall and looks amazing
the pictures do not do him justice. I only use the best paints on my figures and seal for durability to prevent paint rub. He retains all of his points of articulation. He would make a great addition to your collection. Don’t miss your chance to add him to your collection.”
Head over to eBay and bid on this awesome Custom Marvel Legends Warpath
for a chance to own this great piece. If you are unfamiliar with Warpath, please find out more about him below:
The life of James Proudstar seems to be partially defined by tragedy. He grew up hardly knowing his older brother, John, but nevertheless held him in high regard, watching him become a local hero. Later, his brother would be recruited into Charles Xavier’s X-Men, taking the code-name Thunderbird, but he died on one of his earliest missions. Just before Thunderbird’s funeral in the Western Desert, Proudstar stole his brother’s body and gave him a traditional Apache warrior’s funeral rite. Blaming Xavier for his brother’s death, Proudstar accepted an offer from Emma Frost, then the White Queen of the Hellfire Club, to join her team, the Hellions. He took the costume and code-name of Thunderbird in his brother’s memory.
Years later, during a trip to New York, Proudstar was approached by Cable to join his formative strike-force, X-Force. Proudstar initially refused the offer and returned home to find that everyone on his reservation had been slaughtered and a Hellfire Club mercenary’s mask left behind. Vowing revenge, he accepted Cable’s offer under the code-name Warpath, hoping that he could later use the team in his revenge. Warpath adventured with X-Force for a long tenure. Over time, he developed his powers to higher and higher levels. He also developed a crush on his teammate Siryn and was instrumental in helping her recover from alcoholism. Proudstar eventually confronted Emma Frost over the death of his people, but she convinced him that it was not the Hellfire Club that was responsible.

Cal’s Customs brings us this awesome Custom Marvel Legends Thunderstrike. The likeness to the comic is spot on and the paint job on this one looks flawless! It must look aamazing in person. The hair looks very natural (something very hard to pull off) and the eyes have an intense look to them, adding to the realism of the figure. The mace is a great accessory and although the comic does have a ‘T’ monogrammed on the it, I actually like this one without it. Besides, I am sure the mace would be hard to clean after a battle if monogrammed. You can own this one of kind masterpiece over at eBay so go bid early for a chance to add Cal’s Custom Marvel Legends Thunderstrike to you collection!

For those unfamiliar with this character from the Marvel Comics, here is a little background:
Eric Masterson, an architect, is merged with Thor and given Thor’s form and powers after Thor is sealed in Eric’s mind, by Odin, due to Thor’s accidental killing of Loki. Eventually, Odin is revealed to have been possessed by Loki, who was attempting to manipulate everybody. Eric and Thor are separated and restored to their original bodies.

Eric continues in the role of Thor, after having been given Mjolnir by Thor, who tells Eric to carry on as Earth’s protector. Eric then returns to Earth and joins the Avengers in Thor’s place. During this time, he aids them in such battles as the Kree/Shi’ar war and the Infinity Gauntlet crisis, being one of only three heroes at the conclusion of that battle to remember the entire confrontation (The other two being Doctor Strange and the Silver Surfer.
However, Eric’s role as Thor is relatively brief, as the Enchantress manipulates Eric into attacking Thor for Sif’s affection. During a confrontation with Thor, Eric hits Sif, which provokes Thor, leading him to defeat Eric and reclaim Mjolnir while Odin reveals the Enchantress’s manipulations. Odin then creates a new mace for Eric called Thunderstrike.
Eric first uses the Thunderstrike mace against the villain Bloodaxe, and is
promptly defeated. Afterwards, Eric creates his own costume to distinguish himself from Thor, while keeping Thor’s reputation intact. Eric names himself Thunderstrike, after the mace itself. Eventually Eric defeats Bloodaxe, only to discover that ‘he’ was actually Jackie Lukus, his current love interest.

Caramel’s Customs brings us a taste of the future with her Custom Marvel Legends Red Hulk. The color of Hulk’s skin must have taken him hours to get right and the vein color strikes a nice balance with rage seen in Hulks face. The hair compliments the figure’s complexion and rounds out this great piece. Did I mention that this figure is 13″ tall? Well, if you want to see a picture of this Red Hulk to scale you will need to view the auction! I found an image of the Red Hulk for comparison (see below) and Caramel’s Customs did an excellent job bringing this one to life.
I took a trip over Caramel’s Customs website and found a little more information on her Red Hulk: “HULK SMASH! Who can this be? He’s HUGE and RED! Can he be a new HULK? Interest in GI Joe has certainly had a resurgence with the 25th Anniversary line of figures. Snake Eyes is by far the most well known Joe and Kyle Robinson created this Custom Marvel Legends Snake Eyes. Wanting more of Ninja style for Snake Eyes, he played down the commando look. He explains in more detail, “I always wanted a Snake Eyes made from a Deadpool base but never had the yarbles to scrap a Deadpool for it. BUT when I got my 3rd DeadPool figure striped/incomplete, I said what the heck. I was going for a more sleek and not too cluttered ninja type snake eyes (not commando style). RECIPE:~ ML Deadpool base figure ~ snake eyes head casted by Black Arachnis and originally sculpted by ME~ Sword and gun also from deadpool ~ Belt from ML cable ~ gun holster from retooled face off punisher and taskmaster strap ~ scabbord is retooled april oneil form TMNT”What is cool about this figure is the prominent Arashikage on his right arm. The Arashikage is the Clan of Ninjas that were part of The G.I. Joe comic book story line. The clan was founded many centuries ago by the Emperor of Japan in order to protect the Jewel of Amaterasu. The jewel allows its owner to control the chi surrounding him. The “map” to the jewel is a kata that only members of the Arashikage ninja clan have access to. Members of the Arashikage clan wore a tattoo on their right forearm, representing the 63rd hexagram of the I Ching. Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow were first shown to have this tattoo in their first battle at the Silent Castle. The weathering on the weapons and armor adds much depth to the figure. The face is also spot on and pays a nice homage to the 1985 version and the comic (as shown above). The darkened grooves on the mask also creates a nice shadowing effect. Deadpool was an excellent choice for the base mold of this Snake Eyes. Often I will see Snake Eyes done in a more skinier base using other Marvel Legends figures but Deadpool compliments the figure nicely as Snake Eyes and the muscles and head look very proportional to each other. the ninja weapons add a nice touch to figure as often he is couched as a Commando with uzi’s and grenades.
Snake Eyes has always been a favorite of the GI Joe line. In every version of the story, Snake Eyes is quiet in his movements and is a swift and deadly master of multiple martial arts. He is an expert in the use of the ninjato, which he usually carries in a pair of sheaths strapped to his back (but often uses only one). He is equally qualified with and willing to use standard weapons like firearms and explosives. Making him even more dangerous is that he has never relied on one set of weapons to the exclusion of others. In keeping with his personality, Snake Eyes usually wears what could perhaps best be described as a black “military ninja” bodysuit, along with a balaclava and visor to cover his face, which was disfigured in a combat-related accident. Kyle also does commission work so hit him up on his website! To see more picture of Snake Eyes, check out his dedicated page on Kyle’s site!

Straight from the pages of Marvel Comics comes this Moonstar Custom in the Marvel Legends style. Moostar has had many a costume and shortly before the demise of the Mutant Liberation Front, Moonstar was drawn with another outfit, a pair of hotpants and a vest. Moonstar stuck with this look when she re-joined her former teammates in X-Force (X-Force: 1st series #67).
K&L Customs capture her intense psionic powers with their comic accurate tribute to Moonstar. The energy arrow, which can stun an opponent by disrupting their central nervous system, is a very nice accessory and really brings out the uniqueness of this custom. Capturing a burning arrow is difficult but K&L did a very nice job sculpting the flames, as if this arrow was really on fire. The bow, string, and stance really pay homage to the comic depiction (as shown below) and the hair and headband compliment the head, which are nicely proportioned to each other. The eyes and lips on the figure bring out Moonstar’s personality. Hands are really tough to do but they pulled it off as the clutch of the bow string and bow seem very natural and proportional to the rest of her body. One thing I may have added to this figure would be some detailing on the headband to put the finishing touch on it but this is a very minor detail. The coloring pulls this figure together and and is another awesome custom from the talented people over at the Toy Soup Forums. This Custom Marvel Legends Moonstar is available on eBay where you have a chance to own this awesome work of art. If you would like to learn more about Moonstar, please read on below.

Danielle Moonstar grew up on a small ranch outside of Boulder, Colorado. She led a normal life until the age of ten, when her mutant powers began to manifest in the form of harrowing nightmares. Shortly after the disappearance of her parents, Dani’s dreams were marked by the vision of a “Demon Bear”, which she believe played a role in the her parents’ deaths. Dani’s grandfather, Black Eagle, took her in, and she enjoyed several years of relative peace with him. However, as her powers continued to grow, Black Eagle realized there was little he could do to help his granddaughter. Black Eagle contacted Charles Xavier and requested that he help Dani to control her powers. Upset with her grandfather, Dani manifested an image of his greatest fear — his own death — which proved true as the operatives of Donald Pierce attacked in search of young mutants. Dani joined with several of Pierce’s other victims who, under Charles Xavier’s guidance, were able to defeat him. Despite reservations, the group ultimately enrolled at the Xavier Institute. She, Wolfsbane, Sunspot, Karma, and Cannonball formed the New Mutants.

Tags: custom, Custom Figure Reviews, Custom Marvel Legends, Marvel Legends, Speedball
Punstarr from the Toy Soup forums brings us this highly detailed custom Speedball in the Marvel Legends style. By taking a Marvel Quicksilver, cutting off all his hair, he sculpted new hair, a belt, and mask with Apoxie. After he did all of that, then he hand painted the whole thing, even painstakingly drawing the circles on his costume with a Bic Ultra Fine “Mark It” pen.
One aspect of sculpting that is really hard to nail, in my opinion, is hair and eyes (and noses if you are making your own). It is these aspects of a figure that can make or break the likeness. Punstarr nailed the hair on Speedball with his apoxie sculpt. The hair looks very natural and it gives the appearance that he is standing on the edge of a building waiting while the wind is blowing up through the buildings of the city. Drawing the circles on the boots, hands, neck, glasses, and belt must have taken a long time but it is this kind of attention to detail that can also make or break the likeness. The shadowing really brings out the comic artistic effects as shown in the reference picture below. The mask around the eyes coupled with the gaze of the figure gives Speedball a very intense look on his face, rounding out an all around excellent custom! You can check out the action his custom Marvel Legends Speedball landed on eBay and if you are not familiar with Speedball, take some time to read about his abilities below.
As Speedball, Baldwin’s body generated an energy field that absorbed, amplified and redirected kinetic energy; it also weirdly distorted his voice and often surrounded him with multicolored kinetic energy “bubbles.” The field activated anytime any portion of Baldwin’s body experienced a significant impact, though Baldwin gradually developed enough control over the field to suppress it if the activating impact was slight enough. Speedball’s most frequent use of his kinetic field was to engage in high-speed, high-impact bouncing, building up greater speed and force with every additional impact while he remained in motion. After a series of sufficiently numerous or forceful bounces to build up power, he could hurl himself into a given target with tremendous impact. Later, he could consciously thrust his kinetic energy field outward, delivering extremely forceful kinetic-powered punches, generating a wider kinetic force field that could more gently push targets away from him, or releasing streams of pure kinetic energy which struck their targets with great impact. He also learned to drain kinetic energy from outside sources, slowing or halting the motion of other people and objects. With his kinetic field activated, Speedball was almost completely immune to physical harm; it also slightly enhanced his physical mass and strength and converted whatever clothing he was wearing into his Speedball costume, presumably created by Robbie’s subconscious from otherdimensional kinetic energy (he later discovered that he could alter the costuming’s appearance to some extent at will). Robbie developed some proficiency in unarmed combat during his time with the Warriors.

Kyle Robinson runs a website called Kyle Robinson Customs and he also admins the Toy Soup Forum! Kyle has been customizing for a long time now and have over 200 figures in his gallery. He graciously added a section for my blog on his forum and for that I owe him a huge thank you! He also does commission work so check out his website if you are in dire need of custom action figures.
Out of this set, Iceman caught my attention as his iceblast was made from from plastic beads, apoxie sculpt and a broken crystal Christmas ornament, which demonstrates an keen ability to sculpt a physical representation of ice using out of the ordinary items. Who would of thought a busted Christmas ball could be used to portray Iceman’s signature iceblast? That just gives you a window into the creative mind of a customizer and how talented these people are.

Snake Eyes, what I really like about this custom is the detail and weathering on the suit and the detailing on the weapons. The Uzi is one of my favorite parts of this custom, as it matches the 1980’s Uzi that the 3 3/4 inch figure came with. Capturing Snake Eyes’ comic book likeness, taddy333 explains more about this one of a kind custom: “He stands approximately 7 inches tall and is in scale with all Marvel Legends, DC Direct, Street Fighter, McFarlane, Spawn or similar figures. He has over 40 points of articulation, and can hold many action poses. He is fully poseable and sealed for protection. I seal each of my customs with multiple coats of Testors Dullcote. He is meant for display, so paint on joints may rub off from rough play.
I have made numerous customs and strive for the highest possible quality on each and every one. This figure is the result of hours of painting with quality paints (Tamiya and Model Masters) and hours of sculpting with quality sculpting materials (Aves Apoxie Sculpt). SNAKE EYES is captured here in his comic likeness. He is equipped with a combat knife, an Uzi and a sword to combat any foe in your collection.”

Northstar can move and fly at superhuman speed. He can channel a portion of the kinetic energy of the atomic motion in his body’s molecules in a single direction, accelerating his body to a velocity in direct proportion to the amount of kinetic energy he has tapped. Northstar also has an advanced equilibrium, and exceptional agility and reaction time, which allows for him to make sharp turns, and run at such speeds without becoming sick. Northstar is also able to punch at great speeds, which grants him the ability to hurt even the Hulk. In an early issue of Alpha Flight Northstar reveals to readers that his sister Aurora can fly greater distances than he can, but that he can fly faster.
As a side effect of partially robbing his molecules of their atomic motion, the binding forces within and between the molecules increase which enhances the sheer toughness of Northstar’s entire body. This effect gives his skin enough durability to withstand speeds up to at least Mach 10 without injury. It had once been theorized that Northstar could fly at 99% of the speed of light (186,282 miles per second), although he never travelled anywhere near that speed because he would have done irreparable damage to the environment. Northstar can also vary the rate of acceleration of his molecules to release a cascade of photons as bright as a lighthouse beacon. His powers have recently been enhanced to the point where he and Aurora can generate explosive thermal energy in addition to light.
Northstar is a world-class professional skier, skilled trapeze artist, and an accomplished novelist. A native French speaker, he is also fluent in English. After his resurrection by The Hand, Northstar has been trained in the martial arts. Northstar also has peak human strength.

With the resurgence in interest in toy lines like Transformers, Star Wars, and GI Joe, the Thundercats are bound to be next right? Well, I am not sure of the future of a Thundercats comeback but I do know if it did happen, fans would be hitting the toy stores. Until then, boskoes brings us a special treat with his set of five Custom Marvel Legends Thundercats: Lion-O, Panthro, Cheetara, Tygra, & Mumm-Ra.
boskoes has this to say about his one of a kind custom set: “Up for grab is a custom set, of custom Marvel Legends style Thundercats. That’s right, you get to pick the versions of these characters that you like best, (and we’ve done quite a few). The pictures in this auction are from our last commission job, and if you want your cat’s just like them, then that’s fine too. Meticulous attention to detail, custom packaging, an instant qualification for our collectors club, make this auction a great way to finally get your hands on these figures.”
In case you have not watched the Thundercats in 20 years, here is a recap of these timeless characters:
Lion-O — The leader, and the hereditary ‘Lord’ of the ThunderCats. Initially he is a mere boy only twelve years old, but in making the trip to Third Earth he ages physically until he becomes an adult of twenty-four — this due to the suspension capsule diminishing but not altogether preventing aging. On Third Earth, much like his big-cat namesake, the lion, Lion-O has great strength, endurance and agility (as well as a headfull of hair). He also has the cunning and skills of a fighter, but because of his time in the capsule, he missed the experiences needed in growing up. Through his adventures, he gains this maturity while learning what it takes to become a true leader.
Panthro — The next noble in age and experience, based on the panther, this warrior is the chief mechanic/engineer and pilot for the ThunderCats. He’s also physically the strongest and is a cunning warrior in combat. With Tygra’s help, he builds all of the vehicles the ThunderCats use on Third Earth — including the ThunderTank, the Feliner and the ThunderClaw, ThunderStrike and HoverCat. A jovial soul, he’s also quick to lose his temper and has a paralyzing fear of bats and a dislike of spiders.
Cheetara — A female warrior , based on the cheetah, who is the only adult female ThunderCat (until the later appearance of Pumyra). She is as lovely as she is brave and caring. Often a voice of reason, she is also the bearer of a budding ‘sixth-sense’, detecting when something is unsafe or if evil is near. This precognitive sense also allows her to perceive visions — whether involuntary or by forcing herself — but this drains her and she may require days or weeks to recover.
She has incredible speed — once clocked at speeds of 120mph on a morning jog. She can only maintain this top speed for short distances, but with it she can move very fast in combat. Her weapon of choice is a battlestaff that can grow or shrink to variable lengths, with which she can vault or leap over enemies. When not in use, it is attached to the armband on her left arm.
Tygra — A staunch, level-headed warrior, based on the tiger, Tygra is known as the ThunderCat architect and scientist. As the eldest (after Jaga) he is the one Lion-O often turns to as second-in-command and for counsel. He is responsible for the design of all of the ThunderCat structures on Third Earth — Cat’s Lair and the Tower of Omens.
He is also gifted with ‘mind-power’ — the ability to create life-like illusions in other people’s minds; he used this for Lion-O’s Anointment Trial, but it puts a great strain on him. He uses a bolo-whip in combat, with which he can render himself invisible to the naked eye.
Mumm-Ra – The chief villain and antagonist against the ThunderCats, Mumm-Ra is the self-proclaimed “ever-living source of evil” on Third Earth, having powers of sorcery and an apparently unlimited lifespan. He is, in fact, a bound servant to the Ancient Spirits of Evil (represented by four anthropomorphic statues within the burial chamber of his pyramid), who provide him with increased power and virtual immortality to further his pursuit of spreading their dark influence throughout Third Earth.
Residing within the Black Pyramid amid the ruins of what appears to be an ancient Egyptian civilization, Mumm-Ra exists in a decayed, weakened form that must return to a stone sarcophagus to replenish his energy. When leaving the pyramid, he can summon the power to transform himself into a more vigorous form: Mumm-Ra, the Ever-Living by reciting the following incantation:
“Ancient spirits of evil, transform this decayed form to Mumm-Ra, the Ever-Living!”
While in this form, Mumm-Ra possesses superhuman strength, the ability to fly, as well as fortification of his mystical might — casting spells, throwing energy bolts, etc. — to battle his foes. He can also alter his physical form into a variety of alter-egos to deceive his enemies.
Seemingly invincible in whatever form he chooses, Mumm-Ra appears to have a singular weakness: seeing his own hideous
reflection neutralizes his ability to remain outside the Black Pyramid and forces him to withdraw there in his emaciated mummy form. However, as the series progressed, the Ancient Spirits of Evil eventually overcame this shortcoming to make Mumm-Ra even more formidable.
