Custom Transformers Leader Class Menasor Warrior by chih

chih has come back this week with a force and brings us a very unique Custom Transformer that he has called Menasor. I was lucky enough to chat with chih and he explained the inspiration for creating a warrior figure, which came from movies like Gladiator, Lord of the Rings, and 300. He goes on to explain, "Menasor has tremendous strength, his armor is nearly impervious to all but the most powerful artillery, so why not add more armor & weapons to make it look like a Gladiator style Super Warrior. I added the shield & the battering ram from GJ Joe-Law Enforcement "LOCKDOWN." I added 1 more gun and put it on the back of the shoulder, the gun is from GI Joe-COBRA Weapons Expert "CRIME BOSS DESTRO." I Love to use weapons from GI Joe on the Leader Class Transformers, a perfect fit and looks really cool."

There are several aspects that make this custom unique. First, the weathering on the figure is spot on! It is almost like chih turned plastic into metal with the weathering and paint aps on the upper legs, arms and feet. It truly looks like Menasor has been through many a battle and lived to fight another day. Second, the way Menasor's face is painted fits very well with the gladiator/warrior theme that chih was going after. I was able to dig up a mask from the Gladiator Movie and the way chih painted Menasor's face really captures that feeling of Roman times. The way the head is painted makes it look like Menasor is donning a gladiator mask. Finally, the weapon choice really makes this custom unique. The shield puts the finishing touches on this Menasor Warrior. It is really nice to see a bit of historical reference as inspiration for customs as you know the old adage, people who forget history are doomed to repeat it.
This Custom Transformers Menasor is fresh on the market on eBay so head over and visit the item page for more pictures and a chance to own this unique custom.

Custom Megatron Transformers Generation 1 Style by Jin Saotome

Ever since the Transformers Classics line came out, I have been waiting for someone to do the Classics Megatron justice. The original was a train wreck mix of greens, blues, blacks, and oranges and was a let down with respect to the original Generation 1 Megatron paint scheme, which I thought the Classics Line was supposed to pay respect to. For the most part, the Classics Line delivered (aside from Megs) but luckily there are talented customizers who can look past the myriad of crappy colors, which were probably a result of a poor focus group when they decided on the paint aps.
Jin Saotome, in his latest rendition of the Classics Megatron, has taken the original figure leaps and bounds from what Hasbro produced and made it his own with his Generation 1 style Custom Classics Megatron

. Jin even added some cool extras that I will let him tell you about:

"Megatron's light-pipe eyes glow red now instead of green! Cool as that sounds, there's even more to him than that. Megatron's scope has a high-powered Laser pointer installed in it [Warning, laser radiation, do not look directly into the beam people!] that projects past my block as far as I can tell. Oddly enough the laser has a secondary mode that projects some sort of bizarre UV- blacklight from it. At first I thought it was just a blue LED but I now know it's a blacklight because the clear green eyes of my bionicle figures light up neon-bright in the dark and it will charge my glow-in-the-dark shirt almost instantly. I wouldn't look directly into this beam either as I don't know the specifications of this device. There's two buttons on top that activate each mode separately and you can replace the batteries inside if you need to."

Jin dares to do what the American Toy companies fail to do and that is deliver accurate, cutting edge Custom Transformers like this Generation 1 Classics Megatron, which is available on eBay!

Custom Transformers Fortress Maximus Generation 1 Style by Corvus

When the Cybertron Metoplex hit stores, this gave Transformers customizers a reason to create on the largest Generation 1 Transformers: Fortress Maximus. Being that this is Corvus' first custom, I am simply amazed at his work and his craftsmanship. Using the Cybertron Metroplex as a base, Corvus not only made a Fortress Maximus in robot mode, he took it to the next level and created the Base Mode! Background and Concept
The conception of Corvus' Fortress Maximus began when he admired the work of others who had tackled the giant beast of a Transformers. As he explains, "This custom/kitbash was one I had really wanted to do since I first saw it done on the Japanese boards, and another by Viagra Prime: Cybertron Metoplex into Fortress Maximus. I let the desire simmer for a couple of years, and when Cybertron Metroplex recently hit Dollar General stores at $19.99, I decided the time was now, and soon I'd gotten started on my first custom Transformer." What a great story!

From Concept to Reality
It is one thing to have a vision but actually making that dream into a reality takes a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and imagination. Having a great base to start with, Corvus also used many other parts from various toy lines to make this Fortress Maximus come to fruition. Here is a list of what he used to create this bohemoth:

  • Superion Head as the base for Max's head
  • Ball-joint for the neck courtesy of a Xevoz Alpha Centurion
  • G1 Battletrap guns for the forearm cannons
  • G1 Drag-Strip cannons stand in for Fort's leg-mounted mortars
  • The Rifle is made from a KO Abominus rifle and an Optimal Optimus Missile
  • Waist-cannons were made using the guns from an Energon/Universe Windrazor
  • Dual-barrel Laser Gun was made from a G1 Streetwise cannon and parts of Energon Arcee's weapon
  • Some mini-con ports from Energon Perceptor were also incorporated
  • Rifle-scope is made partly from an old, empty technical pen, and even a few pieces of a toothpick and twisty-ties
  • Left-over sticker sheet materials from the sheets for God-Ginrai and Optimus Prime
  • Junk parts he had kept around from old models, GI Joe toys, and even model sprue, which he used to make various items, especially the repair arms
  • He even made use of Marvel-Legends blister-plastic, and an old G1 Tech-Specs decoder

The Ingredients
Creativity is what makes this Fortress Maximus so special and no, Corvus did not use sugar or flour to create this custom. Corvus made extensive use of sheet, tube, and rod styrene, as well as Aves Fixit Sculpt for the alterations and original parts. Here is an example of how he made the autobot symbol on the tower in base mode:

"I made the autobot symbol on the tower by printing out a copy of the insignia, gluing it to a sheet of styrene with rubber cement, then carefully cutting out each piece with my x-acto knife. Once the cutting was done, I soaked the pieces in water to remove the cardstock and cement. Then I glued the pieces onto another sheet of styrene."

Behold: Fortress Maximus by Corvus
Mix around 50 hours of work, a bunch of parts from various toy lines, a ton of imagination, natural skill and craftsmanship, and you have a recipe you have the masterpiece that is Fortress Maximus! Corvus also runs a website and a board called CorvusChatter so go over and check out his other talents from this burgeoning customizer and artist. Corvus has a bright future in customization as his first attempt scores a 9.5 out of 10 in my book! For now check out some more pictures of his Custom Fortress Maximus.

Custom Marvel Legends X-Men Cannonball by K&L amd M1 Customs

Straight out of the pages of Marvel Comics, K&L and M1 Customs brings us their version of Cannonball in the Marvel Legends Style, a mutant that generates a thermal/kinetic field around himself which renders him invulnerable and allows him to fly. What a great team they made and it shows! The high points of the this custom Cannonball center around 3 areas: The Hair, eyes, and the upper body.

First, the way the hair was sculpted really gives this figure some depth and character. The deep lines and grooves make the hair flow and give Cannonball a realistic look and finish. They even went to the detail of making the back of his head mimic what real hair would do if it was bound with goggles above it (e.g., the hair below the goggle line is fringed and looks different than the hair above the goggle line.

Second, the eyes gives this custom a look that Shaft would be proud of...."Cannonball is one bad mutha...shut your mouth!" Seriously, the eyes are perfectly centered and give the figure a couple looks depending on the angle. The first look I can see is one of staring off into the distance, as if he was awaiting something. The second look I can see (from a different angle) is one of shear badness! You would not want to cross this dude!

Finally, the upper body of the costume was sculpted to match the comic representation of Cannonball, even down to the small raised circles of the costume near on his chest. The circles are well rounded and give more depth to the figure. Cannonball is rounded off with a big 'C' on the chest and the shoulders, making this custom a very fine piece of art.
This figure is currently listed on eBay so head over there and check out this awesome Custom Marvel Legends Cannonball by K&L and M1 Customs.

Custom Transformers Ultra Magnus Generation 1 Style by chih

"Consistency is victory."
A commander could want no finer a soldier than Ultra Magnus. Despite his incredible fighting skills, courage and unmatched talent for improvisation on the battlefield, Ultra Magnus is most comfortable when carrying out orders, and is naturally uncomfortable if the mantle of leadership should ever find itself placed upon him. chih brings our readers a flavor of Generation 1 with his Custom Ultra Magnus made from a Transformers Cybertron Galaxy Force Optimus Prime. Out of the ashes of the Cybertron Prime, which was used as the base of Ultra Magnus, chih strikes a nice balance of form and function with other additions to the figure like weapons from GI Joe Black Ops and the addition of the Autobot emblems on the shoulders of Ultra Magnus. The whites and blues that were used bring Ultra Magnus to life and pay a nice homage to the Generation 1 original. The silver grill puts a nice finishing touch on the custom, which also mirrors the 1980's classic! One of my favorite thing to see customizers do is to take a really unattractive figure (e.g., the Cybertron Galaxy Force Prime) and turn it into a Generation 1 classic! Take a look at the comparison below; chih has outdone himself and really made Ultra Magnus his own.

Chih also has a blog where he uploads pictures of his latest creations so head over there and check it or, better yet, head over to eBay where you can bid on his Custom Ultra Magnus or some of his other custom creations, like his custom Nemesis Prime that he put up for auction last week.

Custom Transformers ‘The Fallen’ Generation 1 Figure by Jin Saotome

Jin Saotome brings us a reincarnation of 'The Fallen

' with his latest batch of customs for this week. What intrigued me about this figure is the sharp contrast in color among the blacks, oranges, red, and yellows to create the fire effect in his gears and body (not to mention the huge flame coming out of the top of his body). This is truly a piece of art that captures a real force of nature - Fire! As Jin states in his auction:

"This auction is for a 6" tall "The Fallen" custom Transformers Classics figure with removable side cannons, magnetic removable inferno flame, extra right hand, and spinning turret/claw arm. He has multiple points of articulation meaning you can pose him in all sorts of awesome "I'm one of the first Transformers, bow to me!" poses and he'll look great in every one.

This custom has been painted with an exceptional level of detail, and with paint that's not going to rub or flake off. The Fallen was one of the first 13 Transformers created by Primus and perhaps one of the coolest bots around. Why? BECAUSE HE'S ON FIRE! (Not literally as playing with the figure would result in your house burning down. But his character is supposed to be glowing like a furnace, always burning with flame.) The Fallen is detailed with various shades of… eh… black? Well the inner-furnace detailing are is neat part, done in orange-red-yellow tones for a real burning look! He does feature various metallic tones and weathering too for that been-around-for-a-millions-years theme. Flip out the turret and claw on his right hand and depress the lever on top for flaming-turret spinning action. The magnetically attached flames behind his head can be removed for transformation and the side cannons are removable as well. The Fallen transforms into an assault-tank and looks fairly cool doing so, rolling around and looking quite threatening. So, need a revamped Fallen to replace the chunky Titanium version that keeps toppling over? Know a friend who would bring this figure on camping trips in case of an emergency? (Kidding, it's not on fire.) Then don't pass this auction up! This figure will be shipped in time for Christmas in case you'd like to give him as a gift."

Go over to eBay and bid on Jin's Custom 'The Fallen'

before time runs out!

At the dawn of time, Primus created new life, the 13 original Transformers, to crew his planetary form into battle against his eternal nemesis Unicron. One of these 13, his original name now lost to the mists of time, turned against his siblings, his creator, and his universe, and betrayed them all.

As Vector Prime was constructed to safeguard Space/Time, this robot's function was to oversee the primal force of entropy, the aging and dissolution of order in this universe as presage to a new creation. However, this guardian of entropy became obsessed with the darker side of chaos and death, and in the black place these urges lead him, the betrayer found a new god, more suited to his nature. He turned against Primus and became the Fallen.

Now he is a being of power, darkness, and absolute dedication to Unicron. At the end of the first battle between the two Gods, for his treachery, the Fallen was sealed into extradimensional limbo along with his new master.

AFC Interviews Geejay’s Customs

This weeks AFC Interview focuses on the talent of GeeJay's Customs. He is our second in the interview series and sheds some light on how he got started making customs and joy it brings him.

AFC: Tell the fans of your work a little about yourself

GeeJay's Customs: Hello, name's Gerald, and I'm a 21 yr old Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). I started customizing about 2 yrs ago, but honestly, I don't really remember lol. My work is mostly Marvel, all my favorite characters are from there. Also, I love customizing, as to a lot of us, in Marvel Legends scale. As you can see in my customs, I try to make it a little bit different from the actual reference and sorta make it "stand out" I guess, but keep all the recognizable characteristics, so people would be like, "oh yea, that's Winter Soldier" as an example. I also like working with big bulky muscular figures, sine there’s a lot of details in em. I haven't done any female figures, but I'm working on one for my girlfriend, which is taking me a LONG time, sadly. -_- I started customizing cause those cool statues and bust we're so expensive! So I started sculpting from scratch at first and then got into customizing when I saw a few of them on eBay. I was like, "hey that's cool! I don't have to buy a lot of clay to make figures now!" lol. And since then I was hooked! You can visit my website for past figures, what's new, and what's on eBay, at http://www.geejayscustoms.com/. You can also contact me at ixxgjxxi@aol.com with any questions, suggestions, or just to say hi! ^_^

AFC: When did you start making customs?

GeeJay's Customs: LOL, I answered this! Hehe I think, about 2 yrs ago.

AFC: How many customs do you work on at one time?

GeeJay's Customs: I have no clue! I have so many WIP it’s not even funny! But I usually work on up to 3 customs at a time, sometimes more. But I usually focus on a certain custom to get it to look how I want it too. Then move on from there.

AFC: What is the custom you are most proud of?

GeeJay's Customs: I am proud of all of my customs! Well since they were made from hard work, and patience. And I love to see my customs progress, and that's something I can also be proud of. ^_^

AFC: What is your favorite toy line to do customs for?

GeeJay's Customs: Hehe, wow I went ahead on the first question and answered a few. Well I really like to customize in Marvel Legends scale, preferably, Toybiz, oh and SOTA Street Fighters and Deluxe Aggression Wrestlers! Very well made and easy to work with. I also like to customize those 12 inch figures, from any line really, as long as it fits the job!

AFC: What customs do you have lined up for your next ones?

GeeJay's Customs: I have quite a few in my line up! World War Juggernaut, Leonidas, Cable, and other cool characters for Figurerealm, Toy Soup, and Comic Crypt Contests! Well that’s the plan, now I just gotta put it into action, which is the hard part, lol!

AFC: If you had one piece of advice for other customizers out there, what would you say to them

GeeJay's Customs: Have FUN with customizing! Be creative and go ALL OUT! ^_^ There’s no limit to your imagination!

Marvel Legends X-Men Custom Warpath by ltlwiz

ltlwiz brings us his latest creation with this Custom Marvel Legends X-Men Warpath figure. The attention to detail on this Warpath is excellent! There are very few that go the extra mile and you can tell from the solid paint job and black detailing on the chest and abs that really set this figure apart from the rest. Hair is one of the toughest aspects of a custom to get right (along with the nose) but the hair on this custom flows very naturally and adds depth to this great figure. To tell you more about his custom, ltlwiz explains in his own words:

"Up for auction is a "Custom Marvel Legends Warpath" in a his new X-Men outfit. He is about 7 inches tall and looks amazing
the pictures do not do him justice. I only use the best paints on my figures and seal for durability to prevent paint rub. He retains all of his points of articulation. He would make a great addition to your collection. Don't miss your chance to add him to your collection."

Head over to eBay and bid on this awesome Custom Marvel Legends Warpath

for a chance to own this great piece. If you are unfamiliar with Warpath, please find out more about him below:
The life of James Proudstar seems to be partially defined by tragedy. He grew up hardly knowing his older brother, John, but nevertheless held him in high regard, watching him become a local hero. Later, his brother would be recruited into Charles Xavier's X-Men, taking the code-name Thunderbird, but he died on one of his earliest missions. Just before Thunderbird's funeral in the Western Desert, Proudstar stole his brother's body and gave him a traditional Apache warrior's funeral rite. Blaming Xavier for his brother's death, Proudstar accepted an offer from Emma Frost, then the White Queen of the Hellfire Club, to join her team, the Hellions. He took the costume and code-name of Thunderbird in his brother's memory.
Years later, during a trip to New York, Proudstar was approached by Cable to join his formative strike-force, X-Force. Proudstar initially refused the offer and returned home to find that everyone on his reservation had been slaughtered and a Hellfire Club mercenary's mask left behind. Vowing revenge, he accepted Cable's offer under the code-name Warpath, hoping that he could later use the team in his revenge. Warpath adventured with X-Force for a long tenure. Over time, he developed his powers to higher and higher levels. He also developed a crush on his teammate Siryn and was instrumental in helping her recover from alcoholism. Proudstar eventually confronted Emma Frost over the death of his people, but she convinced him that it was not the Hellfire Club that was responsible.

eBay Photo Tips – Show Off Your Custom Figure!

Part of the fun I have writing this blog is trolling eBay and looking at all of the Custom Figures people have made from week to week. For the most part, seller's on eBay do not photograph their items very well and this is a definite drawback and customizers need to take note! Let's face it...people buying your customs want to see every minute detail! Here are some tips for photographing your customs:
Include Multiple Photos of your Custom
A picture does speak a thousand words and this is what ultimately will sell your custom and, in turn, make you the money. You can have a nice description and that helps but you need to take the money shots: photos that highlight all of the hard work you poured into your custom.
Use Proper Lighting
Nothing ruins a great picture more than bad lighting. There are many cheap solutions to solving lighting problems. One of those is Photo Studio in a Box, an inexpensive lighting solution that costs $99 and includes two lights, a backdrop, and a tripod. Using proper lighting decreases the chances of blurry photos, which you should never include (if you have taken a blurry photo, retake the shot).
Avoid Background Clutter in the Photo
As poor lighting can kill a photo, extra stuff that shows up with your custom in the photo can also be deadly! Make sure that you do not include any extras in your photos as you want to show off your great custom.
Here is a really bad example of a custom that is currently on eBay:
Custom Sandtrooper (Pink is really your color!)

Marvel Legends Custom Thunderstrike by Cal’s Customs

Cal's Customs brings us this awesome Custom Marvel Legends Thunderstrike. The likeness to the comic is spot on and the paint job on this one looks flawless! It must look aamazing in person. The hair looks very natural (something very hard to pull off) and the eyes have an intense look to them, adding to the realism of the figure. The mace is a great accessory and although the comic does have a 'T' monogrammed on the it, I actually like this one without it. Besides, I am sure the mace would be hard to clean after a battle if monogrammed. You can own this one of kind masterpiece over at eBay so go bid early for a chance to add Cal's Custom Marvel Legends Thunderstrike to you collection!

For those unfamiliar with this character from the Marvel Comics, here is a little background:

Eric Masterson, an architect, is merged with Thor and given Thor's form and powers after Thor is sealed in Eric's mind, by Odin, due to Thor's accidental killing of Loki. Eventually, Odin is revealed to have been possessed by Loki, who was attempting to manipulate everybody. Eric and Thor are separated and restored to their original bodies.

Eric continues in the role of Thor, after having been given Mjolnir by Thor, who tells Eric to carry on as Earth's protector. Eric then returns to Earth and joins the Avengers in Thor's place. During this time, he aids them in such battles as the Kree/Shi'ar war and the Infinity Gauntlet crisis, being one of only three heroes at the conclusion of that battle to remember the entire confrontation (The other two being Doctor Strange and the Silver Surfer.

However, Eric's role as Thor is relatively brief, as the Enchantress manipulates Eric into attacking Thor for Sif's affection. During a confrontation with Thor, Eric hits Sif, which provokes Thor, leading him to defeat Eric and reclaim Mjolnir while Odin reveals the Enchantress’s manipulations. Odin then creates a new mace for Eric called Thunderstrike.
Eric first uses the Thunderstrike mace against the villain Bloodaxe, and is
promptly defeated. Afterwards, Eric creates his own costume to distinguish himself from Thor, while keeping Thor’s reputation intact. Eric names himself Thunderstrike, after the mace itself. Eventually Eric defeats Bloodaxe, only to discover that ‘he’ was actually Jackie Lukus, his current love interest.

Omega Supreme Transformers Classics Custom by Jin Saotome

"Unyielding resolve has no conqueror."
Jin Saotome, master of Transformer customization, brings us a real treat today. Omega Sumpreme, one of the tried and true Generation 1 classics of our time, is reincarnated into this awesome Custom Omega Supreme, which I will let Jin describe in his own words...
"This auction is for a 10" tall custom Transformers 'Classics' Omega Supreme figure with removable drilling arms, working scrap-magnet, scrap-claw, Dump truck minicon, and flickering light-up smelting furnace. Omega has multiple points of articulation, far too many for me to count and they all have excellent range of motion. This means you can pose him in all sorts of awesome Decepticon-smelting poses and he'll look great in every one. Omega changes from robot to scrap metal foundry and transforming him won't affect the paint job. It's time for more Transformers Classics customs and this week I give you Omega Supreme Omega features two drilling arms that can be detached into separate vehicles. The right claw opens up and spins via a thumbwheel and the left drill extends and spins when you slide the lever. Add two AAA batteries (not included) and you can have the claw-drill light up and make noise when you spin it. Once detached you can transform Omega into a scrap metal foundry complete with a working scrap-magnet for hoisting metal chunks into his minicon buddy and scrap-claw for tearing apart slagged Decepticon wreckage into smaller bits. Inside Omega's chest is the smelting furnace that lights up and flickers brightly, ready to process scrap metal into raw materials to repair his Autobot friends. (furnace batteries are included and you can replace them easily) Omega Supreme has been painted with many different shades, metallics, weathering, highlights, shadows, you name it. He's been styled to resemble his G1 form while playing to the modern 'Transformers Classics' theme. So… were you looking for a giant guardian to watch over Cybertron while you were out? Know a friend who will keep trying to attach the two arms to form a rocket? (sorry, they're drilling equipment this time around, heh) Then don't pass this auction up!!"
Own this one of a kind custom today by visiting Jin's Custom Omega Supreme Auction at eBay. If you would like to learn more about Omega Supreme, please read below:
Omega Supreme is the ultimate defensive force. Although he has great strength, it is his even greater courage which truly distinguishes him. Against overwhelming odds, he will stand unwaveringly and fight with every last microchip of his mechanical being. His fellow Autobots consider him serious, even grim, but those with insight know the reason why: the enormity of the responsibility placed on Omega Supreme. He is designed specifically as the Autobots' last line of defense. It is his job to protect the Ark and anything else considered vital to the Autobot cause. He knows that should he fall in battle, chances are there will be no other Autobots left by that point to take over his role. His is a situation Omega Supreme finds both challenging and chilling. He would have it no other way.

AFC Interviews Caramel’s Customs

To kick off the first of the Interview Series on ActionFigureCustoms, Caramel's Customs provides us with some insight, history, and a glimpse into the future.
AFC: Tell the fans of your work a little about yourself.

Caramel's Customs: Hi, I am a 26th year old female customizer. I am a HUGE fan of comics all together. I customize action figures to many different lines including, but not limited, to Marvel, DC, Image and more. You can visit my website http://www.caramelcustoms.com/ to see more of what I have done and what is in process of getting done. If you have any questions or interested in having your own figure customized, email me at caramel@caramelcustoms.com

.
AFC: When did you start making customs?

Caramel's Customs: I began making customs this year in July, so really only about 4 months or so. My local comic store owner was the one who got me started in customizing. He saw my fan art drawings and invited me to enter his action figure customizing contest. I ran all my research and started making my first custom. I had so much fun, that now I am addicted to customizing and keep making them lol.
AFC: How many customs do you work on at one time?

Caramel's Customs: It depends really. But I take my time on each figure so I can only work a little on each figure a day. I work on an average of 4 figures at one time. Letting a figure dry completely before sculpting over other sculpt is very important, so instead of rushing on to the next step, I work on another figure.

AFC: What is the custom you are most proud of?

Caramel's Customs: My favorite custom has to be my Excalibur Dazzler. I put a lot of time and effort in that one and love how she came out. Here is a link to her pictures.

AFC: What is your favorite toy line to do customs for?
Caramel's Customs: I love Toybiz Marvel Legends figures to work with. They have the best articulation and nice head sculpt. But I love the head sculpt from various toy lines. I swap around heads to try to find the right one to work with the character I am customizing.

AFC: What customs do you have lined up for your next ones?

Caramel's Customs: I am working on my Heroes for Hire team. I am hoping the team will be done by the end of November. I will have a villain done as well with the 4 girls so they can be posed fighting someone 😉

AFC: If you had one piece of advice for other customizers out there, what would you say to them?

Caramel's Customs: One piece of advice to any customizer beginner is "Take you time. Don't rush anything. If you take your time, the end piece will be worth the patience. And remember, if you don't get it right the first time, try, try again. 😉 You will get it."

AFC: Thank you so much for your words of wisdom and for letting your fans into your world.

Custom Bumblebee Transformers Movie Dio Brawl Battle by matt1989cars

Another Custom Battle Damaged Movie Dio has popped up on eBay! matt1989cars gives us his take on the Transformers Movie with this battle scene dio with an added twist. One of the most exciting parts of the Transformers Movie is when Bumblebee is racing down the streets (with some help of a tow truck) and opening up a can of whoop-ass on Brawl. The aftermath after a hail of high heat sabo rounds and a shelling from bumblee's cannons, Brawl is left in a world of hurt. There are a couple things that differentiate this dio from others. First, matt1989cars has sculpted Bumblebee's mask, which you don't see many out there. The mask adds to the realism and the use of the Bumblebee Evolutions camaro adds extra battle damage to the car. Second, he added much needed battle damage to Brawl, rounding out the intense scene in the movie which leaves Brawl in a heap of scrap metal.matt1989cars goes on to explain a little more about this scene: "This is a custom Diorama with three Custom painted and modified Transformers (deluxe figures). Everything in the pictures is included with this auction. Bumblebee has modifies too his legs, gun, head, and shoulder guns(also a real like chain is included to wrap around him)! Brawl has a lot of battle damage from his foot too his head and of course that fatal chest shot. Longarm was also carefully painted and has a hydraulic was removed from the tow rack, so Bumblebee can be placed correctly on the bumper. Masterpiece Starscream Clean Version – How to Guide by revlimiter

Although few and far between, the Masterpiece Starscream in G1 deco is becoming a sought after piece. Once again, Hasbro has taken some liberty and deviated from the true G1 paint scheme but there are some clever people out there who figured out how to bring Starscream back to his 1980's greatness. Building off of a post by Optimus Scourge over at the Transformers World 2005
Boards, revlimiter goes on to explain in his short tutorial:

Masterpiece Starscream Paint Removal 101:
1) Weathering: The weathering is way easy to remove and requires almost no effort. A little rubbing alcohol (I use expensive TARGET brand 95% stuff) and a stiff paper towel make this a 5 minute project. And the panel lines stay there! It's hard to remove them, but I didn't want to anyway. You can just rub off the weathering (Gently) and the pretty grey panel lines will remain behind.
2) Nosecone: That silver is really on there. I roughed it up with a green scotchbrite pad before and during paint removal. Just light scuffing to break the paint up, not enough to cloud the blue plastic underneath. And you just use the same alcohol/towel technique. I pulled the nosecone forward and held it with my fingers in one hand (that never touched anything else) and removed with the other. If you happen to touch the cockpit with a alcohol soaked hand, bad things might happen. Clear plastic hates alcohol.
3) Thruster covers: That paint is really on there, but scrubbing and protecting the blue tail fins with one hand got it all clean within about 30 minutes.

On a side note, I just joined the Transformers World 2005 community and there are definitely some awesome customizers who post over there so if you have not made it over there, go check them out. For more Custom Transformers figure, check them out on eBay!

Custom Marvel Legends Incredible Red Hulk by Caramel’s Customs

Caramel's Customs brings us a taste of the future with her Custom Marvel Legends Red Hulk. The color of Hulk's skin must have taken him hours to get right and the vein color strikes a nice balance with rage seen in Hulks face. The hair compliments the figure's complexion and rounds out this great piece. Did I mention that this figure is 13" tall? Well, if you want to see a picture of this Red Hulk to scale you will need to view the auction! I found an image of the Red Hulk for comparison (see below) and Caramel's Customs did an excellent job bringing this one to life.

I took a trip over Caramel's Customs website and found a little more information on her Red Hulk: "HULK SMASH! Who can this be? He's HUGE and RED! Can he be a new HULK? We will all find out come after the New Year! In the mean time, if you want to own you very own customized red Hulk before then, check this one out! I spent ALOT of hours making this one. I wanted to make him as large as he is on the cover."eBay but bid early as this one is getting some great action. Also, visit, Caramel's Customs website and check out her other customs!

RSS Feeds for Myspace or Websites

Ok...slightly off topic but relates to custom figures! I just recently joined MySpace to network and get to know all of the talented customizers out there! In a few short days I have created my presence on MySpace and have found many of the people who I blog about it. On of the things that bugged me about MySpace was the fact that they have their own blogging programs embedded in the page. After a few Google searches, I discovered that I could embed a widget into any part of my profile thus constantly keeping my MySpace page up to date with the blogs from this site. I know many of the customizers have blogs out there so here is a recipe for creating RSS feeds within Myspace:

and create a new account or log in if you have an existing account
2. Click the Make a Blidget button
3. Enter the URL or RSS feed of the blog that you want to appear on your MySpace profile
4. Adjust the width, color, and the title of the Blidget to match with your MySpace scheme
5. Add a title, image, and tag it
6. Click Publish Blidget
7. On the following page, click the Add to MySpace button (or the larger Get Widget button, and then Add to MySpace
Note: You can't just copy and paste the code into your MySpace profile (already tried it and it does not work) if you want the links to be clickable. When the Widgetbox puts the Blidget on the page, it adds extra code to create buttons that will open links
8. Enter your MySpace email address and password as Widetbox needs them to edit your profile
9. Choose the section of MySpace where you want the Blidget to appear
10. Click OK
The Widgetbox Blidget should now appear on your MySpace profile!

If you want to check out how it looks on MySpace, please check out the About Me section here: http://www.myspace.com/actionfigurecustoms

Here is a screenshot of what it looks like (I could not embed it in this blog...but that would have been funny...a blog within a blog!):

Custom Transformers Devastator Generation One – Destruction of Autobot City by bromen238pxk

bromen238pxk has outdone himself and created a scene that is surely sought after. He brings us this one of a kind sculpture with amazing detail. This Custom Devastator Diorama was built completely from scratch and definitely shows off the talent of this customizer. One of my favorite parts of this diorama is the facial expression he molded for Devastator, which brings out the ruthlessness of this Decepticon. Expressions are really hard to capture with customs, especially ones built from scratch, but bromen238pxk has captured the essence of Devastator's character and persona. I also like the way bromen238pxk portrays destruction with the flames in the diorama, which adds the realism.

bromen238pxk gives us a little taste of how much effort was put into this awesome piece, "This auction is for my custom built and painted Devastator statue with diorama. I built Devastator from a variety of toy parts, as well as custom sculpted head, hands, arms, and a completely scratchbuilt diorama. The diorama was constructed from floral foam, sealed with plaster, painted and detailed. The entire piece is huge. The figure itself stands around 17 inches tall, with an armspan of about 22 inches. The base is 23 inches across the front, and 15 inches front to back. The tallest building stands 23 inches tall. The sculpture itself represents a scene from the 1986 animated movie. The Decepticons are blitzing Autobot City, and the Constructicons form Devastator to breach their defenses. Devastator has the sheer power to tear the city apart with his bare hands. This piece was a true labor of love, and has hundreds of hours of work put into it."

Custom Transformers Trailbreaker Generation 1 Movie Figure by mirages_boxes

mirages_boxes brings us the latest G1 reincarnation of a Transformers Movie figure with his Custom Trailbreaker made from Dropkick. The packaging is a blast from the past with the G1 style tech spec and box art. This is another great example of a customizer taking advantage of a figure who never saw the light of day in the Movie and turned it into a G1 Classic! Custom Classics Trailbreaker #2 Made from Movie Figure Dropkick. Figure was Dissembled, Washed, Masked and airbrushed. Legs and arms were than painted with chrome detail and battle wear. Custom stickers professionally printed on Vinyl were then applied. Custom packaging made to resemble the past with a piece of the future. Back has tech spec with converted art and I even have some transformation pics in back. Joints were masked to avoid paint wear but these areas are not noticeable easily. His back claw does still pop out with great ease. Packing was printed on high res paper and is very glossy and vibrant. Figure looks great with your movie figs or your classics."

mirages_boxes explains how he transformed Dropkick into a G1 classic: "

Jetfire Masterpiece Custom Transformers Made from Yamato VF-1S 1/48 by deafinoneear

(Someone does not belong in this Masterpiece lineup! Can you guess who?)

The Masterpiece line has been a huge hit for Takara and the figure line keeps growing (Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Ultra Magnus, Skywarp). What if Takara made a Masterpiece Jetfire? deafinoneear shows you what it might look like with his custom Masterpiece Jetfire from a Yamato VF-1S 1/48.

I think I can speak for most when I say that Jetfire is one of the most popular Transformers from the Generation One line back in the 1980's. As with any Masterpiece Transformers, collector's love the scale and G1 molds that are used to portray their favorite characters. This custom is no exception! The scale for this Jetfire is very close to Optimus Prime's scale (with Jetfire's armor just reaching Optimus' head) but without the armor Jetfire comes up to his shoulder. No detail was spared when creating this G1 Classic. For this one, I am letting the pictures do the talking so enjoy the show and make sure you bid on this one of a kind Custom Masterpiece Jetfire!

2009 Camaro Custom Lego Technic by crowkillers-incorporated

crowkillers-incorporated is at it again and brings us this black custom Lego 2009 Camaro. If you have not seem his work before, check it from my blog post on his red Camaro. I am simply in awe of his work and his latest custom black Camaro comes with some nice details that sets this apart from his red version. For example, this black Camaro has racing stripes, a very nice addition to the car. The interior is tan, which sets off the black and red. As for how this was built, I will let crowkillers-incorporated fill you in on this one:

"As a Camaro owner myself I was in awe when I feasted my eyes on Chevy's New Concept Camaro Last Year. After a Few months I decided to build one. This model contains Well over 2300 New parts and has been constructed in 1/8 Scale studless form. Some of you may be confused as to what the term "Studless" actually means, well here it is:Rather than having bricks that actually "Click or Snap" together with studs, my models are pinned and joined together courtesy of different length friction pins and axles. This method makes for lighter and stronger models and is the only style that I build in. Studless building is like playing Chess where you must always be 5 or 6 steps ahead. Now that you know what studless means, on to the Car's specs:

V8 Engine with removable LS2 Style Engine Cover. This engine features a moving crankshaft with 8 pumping pistons. 6 Speed Transmission with Reverse. As you can see in the pictures, This is a Fully Funtional 6 Speed transmission with a working Reverse gear. Not to be confused with Lego's 8448 5 Speed+Reverse Transmission, My Model has 6 Forward Gears Plus a Reverse. I needed to clarify this because many people refer the Lego 8448 tranny as a "6 Speed"(5+R). My Tranny is much more complex and works very smoothly through all 6 gears. Or 7(6 Speed + Reverse) Depending on if you consider Reverse a Gear or not. Oh Yeah, The shift pattern also follows the Real Camaro's! Working independent 4 wheel suspension. Opening Hood, Doors, and Trunk. Operational Front Wheel Steering system with a "Hand of God" Steering system that also operates the steering wheelinside of the cockpit.

"Hand of What?" Ok, I always get the e-mail asking, so I will explain what "Hand of God" means. "Hand of God" refers to your own hand (Making You "God from above using your Hand") Turning a somewhat hidden wheel (In this case on top of my model's dashboard) that in turn steers the front wheels. And with my model, also turns the Actual steering wheel accordingly.Note: If you are the winning bidder, please don't consider yourself a God and start a silly cult. That would just be well... Wrong. Detailed interior done in Tan. Check out the cool arm-rests on the doors. And the awesome Black exterior With Red-Stripes. This is a complete custom model, not a set that you can buy at Walmart or Lego Shop At Home. And the only instructions that exist are embedded within my head."

There is still one day left to bid on this masterpiece of Americana! Head over to eBay and put yourself in the running to own this Custom Black 2009 Lego Camaro.

Beastbox Custom Transformers Generation 1 Movie Style by Fugayzie

Generation 1 customs are always a nice to see, especially when they are repurposed from the Transformers Movie. Since there were only a handful of Transformersin the Movie (Bumblebee, Megatron, Optimus Prime, Starscream, etc.), Hasbro produced figures that were not in the Movie. One of the figures that did not appear in the movie was a video game controller named High Score 100 from the Real Gear subline.

If you are not familiar with Beastbox, read more about him below:

Beastbox basic function is an interrogator

His violent temper overcomes his natural curiosity

More willing to whittle down his captives with his fists than with his words

Few survive his interrogations long enough to reveal anything useful

Can record up to 6000 hours of testimony

Equipped with two compression cannons, which crush a target with tons of compressed air

"Speak now if you intend to ever speak at all" Fugayzie had a great idea to make a relatively unattractive Transformer in the subline into a icon of the 1980's. I would like to see more customizers try and stretch their imagination and take the Movie Transformers back to the future and make more generation one icons come back to life. Custom Marvel Legends Snake Eyes by Kyle Robinson

Interest in GI Joe has certainly had a resurgence with the 25th Anniversary line of figures. Snake Eyes is by far the most well known Joe and Kyle Robinson created this Custom Marvel Legends Snake Eyes. Wanting more of Ninja style for Snake Eyes, he played down the commando look. He explains in more detail, "I always wanted a Snake Eyes made from a Deadpool base but never had the yarbles to scrap a Deadpool for it. BUT when I got my 3rd DeadPool figure striped/incomplete, I said what the heck. I was going for a more sleek and not too cluttered ninja type snake eyes (not commando style). RECIPE:~ ML Deadpool base figure ~ snake eyes head casted by Black Arachnis and originally sculpted by ME~ Sword and gun also from deadpool ~ Belt from ML cable ~ gun holster from retooled face off punisher and taskmaster strap ~ scabbord is retooled april oneil form TMNT"What is cool about this figure is the prominent Arashikage on his right arm. The Arashikage is the Clan of Ninjas that were part of The G.I. Joe comic book story line. The clan was founded many centuries ago by the Emperor of Japan in order to protect the Jewel of Amaterasu. The jewel allows its owner to control the chi surrounding him. The "map" to the jewel is a kata that only members of the Arashikage ninja clan have access to. Members of the Arashikage clan wore a tattoo on their right forearm, representing the 63rd hexagram of the I Ching. Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow were first shown to have this tattoo in their first battle at the Silent Castle. The weathering on the weapons and armor adds much depth to the figure. The face is also spot on and pays a nice homage to the 1985 version and the comic (as shown above). The darkened grooves on the mask also creates a nice shadowing effect. Deadpool was an excellent choice for the base mold of this Snake Eyes. Often I will see Snake Eyes done in a more skinier base using other Marvel Legends figures but Deadpool compliments the figure nicely as Snake Eyes and the muscles and head look very proportional to each other. the ninja weapons add a nice touch to figure as often he is couched as a Commando with uzi's and grenades.

Snake Eyes has always been a favorite of the GI Joe line. In every version of the story, Snake Eyes is quiet in his movements and is a swift and deadly master of multiple martial arts. He is an expert in the use of the ninjato, which he usually carries in a pair of sheaths strapped to his back (but often uses only one). He is equally qualified with and willing to use standard weapons like firearms and explosives. Making him even more dangerous is that he has never relied on one set of weapons to the exclusion of others. In keeping with his personality, Snake Eyes usually wears what could perhaps best be described as a black "military ninja" bodysuit, along with a balaclava and visor to cover his face, which was disfigured in a combat-related accident.  Kyle also does commission work so hit him up on his website! To see more picture of Snake Eyes, check out his dedicated page on Kyle's site!

Custom Helghast Soldier from Killzone by Jin Saotome

Killzone is a first-person shooter exclusively for the PlayStation 2 game console, developed by Netherlands-based Guerrilla Games and released on November 2, 2004 in North America. A sequel, Killzone: Liberation was released on the PlayStation Portable and another followup, Killzone 2 is currently being developed for the PlayStation 3.

Jin Saotome outdoes himself again as he brings us his Custom Helghast Soldier from the Killzone game. In Jin's own words, he describes how he created this work or art: "Let me first say that I've never played Killzone but was extremely impressed with the super-reaslistic trailer I saw at the E3. Killzone 2 is coming out next year and yes I'm picking it up! That being said I hope I did the game justice in bringing this figure to live. Don't scream at me if I missed something, I don't even know if this matches Killzone 1 or 2's Helghast, lol! After taking these photos I sat back and did a few double-takes. Not because of anything wrong, but how even tho I had no idea what the character was about I loved the final look! This may look like a 1/6th scale figure but it's only 8" tall! The base figure was a Sigma 6 'Shockwave black ops' body with a Sigma 6 Iron Grenadier head and hands. I resculpted the face portion of the Iron Grenadier to match the Helghast face but afterwards decided that he needed more than just painted on eyes.
That's where I got a little creative. I drilled the old eyes out and replaced them with clear plastic rod sections I got from a Xevoz Hyperfury staff accessory. The staff was already a clear orange and it works for the eyes when they're not lit up. Yes, they really do light up! Dilling out up under the faceplate I put an orange LED in there and glued the wires back under his helmet rim so they came out the back leading to the battery pack on his back. You can depress the button and his eyes light up bright orange or slip a small piece of metal lever in the battery pack to keep them on all the time.
Everything else was paint work.. lots and lots of it. For his jumpsuit a basic dark gray was laid down with a dirty black wash, some brown, highlights of gray, then gunmetal for the armor. I did a muddy brown splatter on the boots/underside then decided to go all out, giving him a blood-splatter to his left side as if he had just gunned someone down. His Helghast Rifle was made from a Frontmission 3 shotgun and various random parts cut and glued on to make it resemble the gun in the game as close as I could get it. The two sides of the flag were printed out on Photoshop and given a texture-filter so it looked a little like material. I tattered the edges then glued it to aluminum piping. It's huge, a foot tall by eight inches long! So there you have it, one Helghast Soldier from the game Killzone! Light up eyes rule... hehehe..."
I have never played the game either but judging from the looks of this figure, this makes me want to go out and buy it! My favorite parts of the figure are the light up eyes (of course), the weathering to give him a fresh from combat look, mud splatters on the boots, and the splatters of bloof on his left side. You can still bid on Jin's Custom Helghast Soldier on eBay so don't delay and get to bidding!!!

Custom Marvel Legends X-Men Moonstar by K&L Customs

Straight from the pages of Marvel Comics comes this Moonstar Custom in the Marvel Legends style. Moostar has had many a costume and shortly before the demise of the Mutant Liberation Front, Moonstar was drawn with another outfit, a pair of hotpants and a vest. Moonstar stuck with this look when she re-joined her former teammates in X-Force (X-Force: 1st series #67).

K&L Customs capture her intense psionic powers with their comic accurate tribute to Moonstar. The energy arrow, which can stun an opponent by disrupting their central nervous system, is a very nice accessory and really brings out the uniqueness of this custom. Capturing a burning arrow is difficult but K&L did a very nice job sculpting the flames, as if this arrow was really on fire. The bow, string, and stance really pay homage to the comic depiction (as shown below) and the hair and headband compliment the head, which are nicely proportioned to each other. The eyes and lips on the figure bring out Moonstar's personality. Hands are really tough to do but they pulled it off as the clutch of the bow string and bow seem very natural and proportional to the rest of her body. One thing I may have added to this figure would be some detailing on the headband to put the finishing touch on it but this is a very minor detail. The coloring pulls this figure together and and is another awesome custom from the talented people over at the Toy Soup Forums. This Custom Marvel Legends Moonstar is available on eBay where you have a chance to own this awesome work of art. If you would like to learn more about Moonstar, please read on below.

Danielle Moonstar grew up on a small ranch outside of Boulder, Colorado. She led a normal life until the age of ten, when her mutant powers began to manifest in the form of harrowing nightmares. Shortly after the disappearance of her parents, Dani's dreams were marked by the vision of a "Demon Bear", which she believe played a role in the her parents' deaths. Dani's grandfather, Black Eagle, took her in, and she enjoyed several years of relative peace with him. However, as her powers continued to grow, Black Eagle realized there was little he could do to help his granddaughter. Black Eagle contacted Charles Xavier and requested that he help Dani to control her powers. Upset with her grandfather, Dani manifested an image of his greatest fear — his own death — which proved true as the operatives of Donald Pierce attacked in search of young mutants. Dani joined with several of Pierce's other victims who, under Charles Xavier's guidance, were able to defeat him. Despite reservations, the group ultimately enrolled at the Xavier Institute. She, Wolfsbane, Sunspot, Karma, and Cannonball formed the New Mutants.

Speedball Custom Marvel Legends Figure by punstarr

Punstarr from the Toy Soup forums brings us this highly detailed custom Speedball in the Marvel Legends style. By taking a Marvel Quicksilver, cutting off all his hair, he sculpted new hair, a belt, and mask with Apoxie. After he did all of that, then he hand painted the whole thing, even painstakingly drawing the circles on his costume with a Bic Ultra Fine "Mark It" pen.

One aspect of sculpting that is really hard to nail, in my opinion, is hair and eyes (and noses if you are making your own). It is these aspects of a figure that can make or break the likeness. Punstarr nailed the hair on Speedball with his apoxie sculpt. The hair looks very natural and it gives the appearance that he is standing on the edge of a building waiting while the wind is blowing up through the buildings of the city. Drawing the circles on the boots, hands, neck, glasses, and belt must have taken a long time but it is this kind of attention to detail that can also make or break the likeness. The shadowing really brings out the comic artistic effects as shown in the reference picture below. The mask around the eyes coupled with the gaze of the figure gives Speedball a very intense look on his face, rounding out an all around excellent custom! You can check out the action his custom Marvel Legends Speedball landed on eBay and if you are not familiar with Speedball, take some time to read about his abilities below.

As Speedball, Baldwin's body generated an energy field that absorbed, amplified and redirected kinetic energy; it also weirdly distorted his voice and often surrounded him with multicolored kinetic energy "bubbles." The field activated anytime any portion of Baldwin's body experienced a significant impact, though Baldwin gradually developed enough control over the field to suppress it if the activating impact was slight enough. Speedball's most frequent use of his kinetic field was to engage in high-speed, high-impact bouncing, building up greater speed and force with every additional impact while he remained in motion. After a series of sufficiently numerous or forceful bounces to build up power, he could hurl himself into a given target with tremendous impact. Later, he could consciously thrust his kinetic energy field outward, delivering extremely forceful kinetic-powered punches, generating a wider kinetic force field that could more gently push targets away from him, or releasing streams of pure kinetic energy which struck their targets with great impact. He also learned to drain kinetic energy from outside sources, slowing or halting the motion of other people and objects. With his kinetic field activated, Speedball was almost completely immune to physical harm; it also slightly enhanced his physical mass and strength and converted whatever clothing he was wearing into his Speedball costume, presumably created by Robbie's subconscious from otherdimensional kinetic energy (he later discovered that he could alter the costuming's appearance to some extent at will). Robbie developed some proficiency in unarmed combat during his time with the Warriors.

Snake Eyes Marvel Legends GI Joe Custom by taddy333

Snake Eyes, what I really like about this custom is the detail and weathering on the suit and the detailing on the weapons. The Uzi is one of my favorite parts of this custom, as it matches the 1980's Uzi that the 3 3/4 inch figure came with. Capturing Snake Eyes' comic book likeness, taddy333 explains more about this one of a kind custom: "He stands approximately 7 inches tall and is in scale with all Marvel Legends, DC Direct, Street Fighter, McFarlane, Spawn or similar figures. He has over 40 points of articulation, and can hold many action poses. He is fully poseable and sealed for protection. I seal each of my customs with multiple coats of Testors Dullcote. He is meant for display, so paint on joints may rub off from rough play.

I have made numerous customs and strive for the highest possible quality on each and every one. This figure is the result of hours of painting with quality paints (Tamiya and Model Masters) and hours of sculpting with quality sculpting materials (Aves Apoxie Sculpt). SNAKE EYES is captured here in his comic likeness. He is equipped with a combat knife, an Uzi and a sword to combat any foe in your collection."

Ratchet Transformers Movie Custom Generation 1 by shyeah

The Transformers Movie line has really given customizers a great canvas to work from. This week, shyeah has created a beloved great from the 1980's in his reincarnation of Ratchet!

As he describes his process, "I've redone the head to have a more accurate G1 look. Black wash touch-ups were applied to his arms, legs and torso. I also did some metal grey dry brush touch-ups on his roof rack. Besides the head and paint touch-ups, I replaced the original Rescue Ratchet hands with more G1 style hands. Also included are the original Movie Rescue Ratchet instruction booklet (Not pictured). A Big thanks to Jin Saotome for the various custom and painting questions that I had. He's just awesome!"

As Hasbro has created a G1 style Starscream and Jazz, add shyeah's Custom Generation 1 Ratchet from the Transformers Movie line. If you want to check out other custom Transformers, go check out my Custom Transformers Section on http://www.actionfigurecustoms.com/.

Custom Lego 2009 Chevrolet Camaro 1/8 Scale Technic by crowkillers-incorporated

I do have an affinity to the 2009 Chevy Camero since seeing Bumblebee tearing down the streets in the Transformers Movie. This Custom Lego 2009 Chevy Camero is 100% American engineering with many specs that make this one a custom lego aficionado's dream!

So what makes this one so special? crowkillers-incorporated explains how this Custom Lego 2009 Chevy Camero is different than the others:

"As a Camaro owner myself I was in awe when I feasted my eyes on Chevy's New Concept Camaro Last Year. After a Few months I decided to build one. This model contains Well over 2300 New parts and has been constructed in 1/8 Scale studless form. Some of you may be confused as to what the term "Studless" actually means, well here it is:

Rather than having bricks that actually "Click or Snap" together with studs, my models are pinned and joined together courtesy of different length friction pins and axles.

Operational Front Wheel Steering system with a "Hand of God" Steering system that also operates the steering wheel
inside of the cockpit.

And with my model, also turns the Actual steering wheel accordingly.

Note: If you are the winning bidder, please don't consider yourself a God and start a silly cult. That would just be well... Wrong.

Anyways...Detailed interior with Tan/Red combo seats. Check out the cool arm-rests on the doors. This in my opinion is the Best car that I have ever designed and put up for auction here. This is a complete custom model, not a set that you can buy at Walmart or Lego Shop At Home. And the only instructions that exist are embedded within my head."

Halo 3 Master Chief Custom Action Figure by jin-saotome

After the blockbuster release of the Halo 3 XBOX 360 game from Microsoft, we are finally seeing custom Master Chief's showing up on eBay! This spectacular custom is by one of my favorite customizers, Jin Saotome! Like I reported in my blog about the Custom Master Chief Wearable Helmet, my wife got a copy of Halo 3 compliments of Microsoft and my nephew came over that night and we played the game for a couple hours. I must say I was very impressed by the stellar graphics and captivating story line.

Jin, who typically makes custom Transformers, has really brought the Master Chief to life. He goes on to say, "This auction is for a 8” tall custom Halo 3 Master Chief, pistol, rifle, Energy Sword, debris base, and revealed head. This is what he currently comes with, however I was short on time for making the actual battle base and will be adding that later along with an assortment of other weapons still to come! So for right now, this is what the auction includes. Master Chief has 22 points of articulation and can be posed in all sorts of awesome Flood-battling poses, no-scope poses, and even corpse-hump stances to taunt your enemy with after running them down in a Warthog. What better way to celebrate the release of Halo 3 than with a Master Chief that’s ready for battle!

Master Chief is back and this time he’s loaded for war! This figure is ONE OF A KIND with hand-sculpted armor sections! I didn’t mold the armor so there’s no more after this one. He features an intricate paint job with airbrushed shading, metallic sections, armor highlights, and a sweet gold-reflective visor! You can pose him in just about any position and he’s eight inches tall, this is not a tiny figure! Master Chief comes with three weapons currently, a pistol, rifle, and energy sword. I will have other weapons for him soon, I just ran out of time and can’t miss Heroes, hah! So keep an eye on the auction throughout the week and you’ll see added pics near the bottom of all the new stuff he comes with. The winner also gets the unhelmeted mystery head that won’t be revealed until after the auction ends! What does Master Chief look like under the helmet? You won’t know until you win! So… want the ultimate, unique, hand-made Halo collectible? Know someone who’s a huge Halo fan and goes to the grocery store wearing a Spartan helmet? Then don’t pass this auction up!!

The reflective helmet gives a very realistic effect to this truly one of kind figure! Go track the progress of Jin's Master Chief Spartan Halo 3 Custom as I am sure this is going to grab big bucks on eBay! Also, feel free to check out other custom Video Game toys on my ActionFigureCustoms.com website.

Star Wars Lego Republic Gunship Custom by hueytoys

This Star Wars inspired Custom Republic Gunship brings the battles to life in the Lego Universe. This custom features highly detailed construction and the vehicle itself sports a low profile compared to the original release of the Gunship. By integrating the large cannons into the wings, the Gunship does not look as top heavy and adds a nice, streamlined look to the vehicle. The wings are also angled much lower, creating the illusion of an x-wing with its ability to move its S-Foils in and out of position. Due to its low profile, I would go as far as classifying this as stealth given the abrupt angle of the wings and cockpit features. huetoys goes on in further detail:

"This is a very special creation because it has been modified to carry up to 24+ mini figures. I love the original Lego Republic Gunship, the Imperial Shuttle, the Imperial Landing Craft and the Trade Federation MTT and thus decided to combine some of their ideas into one. This MOC republic gunship has a very detailed troop compartment that opens from the back. There is a sliding plate similar to the imperial shuttle that slides out revealing seating and standing area for 14 mini figures. Additional mini figures can be place on both sides of the ship as well as in the cockpit and side turret guns. A lot time and effort has been dedicated to this modified original creation. Everything from the design, construction, color scheme, interior/exterior design/detail fits very well. My intent was to design something that looks great as a display but can and will handle normal Lego play (no crashing or dropping please!). This is your chance to truly build your army and carry them as well!"

Custom Marvel Legends Thunder Cats – Lion-O, Panthro, Cheetara, Tygra, & Mumm-Ra by boskoes

With the resurgence in interest in toy lines like Transformers, Star Wars, and GI Joe, the Thundercats are bound to be next right? Well, I am not sure of the future of a Thundercats comeback but I do know if it did happen, fans would be hitting the toy stores. Until then, boskoes brings us a special treat with his set of five Custom Marvel Legends Thundercats: Lion-O, Panthro, Cheetara, Tygra, & Mumm-Ra.

boskoes has this to say about his one of a kind custom set: "Up for grab is a custom set, of custom Marvel Legends style Thundercats. That's right, you get to pick the versions of these characters that you like best, (and we've done quite a few). The pictures in this auction are from our last commission job, and if you want your cat's just like them, then that's fine too. Meticulous attention to detail, custom packaging, an instant qualification for our collectors club, make this auction a great way to finally get your hands on these figures."

In case you have not watched the Thundercats in 20 years, here is a recap of these timeless characters:

Lion-O — The leader, and the hereditary ‘Lord’ of the ThunderCats. Initially he is a mere boy only twelve years old, but in making the trip to Third Earth he ages physically until he becomes an adult of twenty-four — this due to the suspension capsule diminishing but not altogether preventing aging. On Third Earth, much like his big-cat namesake, the lion, Lion-O has great strength, endurance and agility (as well as a headfull of hair). He also has the cunning and skills of a fighter, but because of his time in the capsule, he missed the experiences needed in growing up. Through his adventures, he gains this maturity while learning what it takes to become a true leader.

Panthro — The next noble in age and experience, based on the panther, this warrior is the chief mechanic/engineer and pilot for the ThunderCats. He’s also physically the strongest and is a cunning warrior in combat. With Tygra’s help, he builds all of the vehicles the ThunderCats use on Third Earth — including the ThunderTank, the Feliner and the ThunderClaw, ThunderStrike and HoverCat. A jovial soul, he’s also quick to lose his temper and has a paralyzing fear of bats and a dislike of spiders.

Cheetara — A female warrior , based on the cheetah, who is the only adult female ThunderCat (until the later appearance of Pumyra). She is as lovely as she is brave and caring. Often a voice of reason, she is also the bearer of a budding ‘sixth-sense’, detecting when something is unsafe or if evil is near. This precognitive sense also allows her to perceive visions — whether involuntary or by forcing herself — but this drains her and she may require days or weeks to recover.
She has incredible speed — once clocked at speeds of 120mph on a morning jog. She can only maintain this top speed for short distances, but with it she can move very fast in combat. Her weapon of choice is a battlestaff that can grow or shrink to variable lengths, with which she can vault or leap over enemies. When not in use, it is attached to the armband on her left arm.

Tygra — A staunch, level-headed warrior, based on the tiger, Tygra is known as the ThunderCat architect and scientist. As the eldest (after Jaga) he is the one Lion-O often turns to as second-in-command and for counsel. He is responsible for the design of all of the ThunderCat structures on Third Earth — Cat’s Lair and the Tower of Omens.
He is also gifted with ‘mind-power’ — the ability to create life-like illusions in other people’s minds; he used this for Lion-O’s Anointment Trial, but it puts a great strain on him. He uses a bolo-whip in combat, with which he can render himself invisible to the naked eye.

Mumm-Ra - The chief villain and antagonist against the ThunderCats, Mumm-Ra is the self-proclaimed "ever-living source of evil" on Third Earth, having powers of sorcery and an apparently unlimited lifespan. He is, in fact, a bound servant to the Ancient Spirits of Evil (represented by four anthropomorphic statues within the burial chamber of his pyramid), who provide him with increased power and virtual immortality to further his pursuit of spreading their dark influence throughout Third Earth.
Residing within the Black Pyramid amid the ruins of what appears to be an ancient Egyptian civilization, Mumm-Ra exists in a decayed, weakened form that must return to a stone sarcophagus to replenish his energy. When leaving the pyramid, he can summon the power to transform himself into a more vigorous form: Mumm-Ra, the Ever-Living by reciting the following incantation:

“Ancient spirits of evil, transform this decayed form to Mumm-Ra, the Ever-Living!”

While in this form, Mumm-Ra possesses superhuman strength, the ability to fly, as well as fortification of his mystical might — casting spells, throwing energy bolts, etc. — to battle his foes. He can also alter his physical form into a variety of alter-egos to deceive his enemies.
Seemingly invincible in whatever form he chooses, Mumm-Ra appears to have a singular weakness: seeing his own hideous
reflection neutralizes his ability to remain outside the Black Pyramid and forces him to withdraw there in his emaciated mummy form. However, as the series progressed, the Ancient Spirits of Evil eventually overcame this shortcoming to make Mumm-Ra even more formidable.

These figures are available on eBay so check out boskoes' Custom Marvel Legends Thunder Cats - Lion-O, Panthro, Cheetara, Tygra, & Mumm-Ra! If you are hungry for more Custom Marvel Legends figures, go check out them out on eBay.

Custom Skywarp Movie Transformers in Voyager Starscream Style by strata32000

One thing that Hasbro does to death are repaints! The G1 style repaints of Jazz and Starscream are just some example of how Hasbro can extend the life of their figures and give people a reason to come back to the stores.

Hot on the heals of the G1 releases comes this Custom G1 Skywarp made from the Voyager Class Movie Starscream mold. strata32000 goes on to talk more about his one of a kind custom:

"Skywarp was created from a Target exclusive version. Much like many of you hardcore Transformer fans I was very impressed with the blockbuster Transformers Movie this summer. I enjoyed the details of the robot modes best and like many customizers out there I decided to lend my own skills to create Transformable custom figures. When I saw Starscream I knew he had to be repainted in Skywarp. It was just a no brainier. I took him apart, lightly sanded down the parts that moved/connected so that the figure could still transform without chipping and then masked all parts that I didn't want painted. In jet mode he resembles G-1 Sktwarp pretty well, a great looking fighter jet. In robot mode he looks like he belongs in the next Transformers movie. Skywarp looks like he can do some serious damage to any Autobot that gets in his way. His guns arms are very detailed and is a large part of his killer new look. His face is well painted with chrome and his eye are blood red. Skywarp comes with is original box. I wanted to produce an action figure that hopefully Hasbro, Dreamworks, and Paramount Pictures will want to put in the next Transformers movie."

It is a real treat for Transformers fans when customizers do G1 repaints. Go check out strata32000's Custom Movie Transformers Skywarp and see how great this figure is. After you have done that, head over to ActionFigureCustoms.com and check out all of the other Custom Transformers.

Halo 3 Custom Master Chief Helmet by austinisiac

Halo 3 for the XBOX 360 has to be the most anticipated release since the PlayStation 3 game system last November. I know this is going to sound strange but my wife brought home a brand new sealed Halo 3 game and we DO NOT have an XBOX 360 (how odd is that)! She is in the video game industry and received a copy as a compliment from Microsoft but I am a PC Gamer so we are giving it to our 14 year old nephew.

In my hunt for Halo related customs on eBay, I came across this Custom Master Chief Helmet. To give you some background, fans can get an authentic Master Chief Helmet that is bundled with the XBOX 360 Legendary Edition but the helmet is not wearable! How fun is that? austinisiac saw this flaw and created a wearable helmet. He goes on and gives more details:
"This was custom made by Briarsarmor/Richiesarmor who are famous for their Star Wars props. This helmet is indeed wearable and the visor IS see-through. Many people were upset about the Halo 3 legendary edition helmet not being wearable, well this is the solution. It is about the size of a motocross helmet, but is it's own helmet and not a helmet with crap plastered on it. This is a legit halo prop that isn't for play use. It has a small crack in the back, and the rest of the paint chips are on purpose for the "battle-damaged" look, you will see that there is silver paint underneath it to look like the metal. This is a one of a kind prop that is one of the rarest items to find with this quality."

Go check out this one of a kind Halo 3 Custom Master Chief Helmet that is sure to get top dollar as this is the only one out there that is wearable! I bet you are itching to dawn this Custom Master Chief Helmet and fire up Halo 3 and get your game on! If this Helmet is not your thing, go check out other customs on my ActionFigureCustoms.com site or the other Custom Video Game items on eBay.

Custom Star Wars Heavy Gunner Clone Trooper by jbronson713

The new Star Wars movies, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, reinvigorated fans and gave us a reason to hit the toys stores again. With Hasbro producing gaggles of clones, the hunt was on for Army Building enthusiasts. Attack of the Clones introduced us to the origins of the Stormtroopers and Regenge of the Sith opened the door wide open for customizers to create their own special forces armies.

jbronson713 brings us his Star Wars Heavy Gunner Custom Clone Trooper. This custom is unlike anything I have seen before. Here are some details about this Heavy Gunner:

  • Totally original repaint scheme, protected with multiple coats of varnish
  • Unique helmet repaint with flip-down scope
  • Custom crafted shoulder Pauldron with layered shoulder armor
  • Custom crafted removable plasma pack with conduit tubing for plasma delivery
  • New knee pads and right hip holster for tactical pistol
  • Gatling Mini-Gun with Dura- and Transpari- Steel Shielding
  • Custom crafted layered Tactical Display, which hooks into the pack on his back
  • Pulse Rifle
  • Tactical Pistol
The Heavy Gunner's bio is as follows:
Dextyrr Dextyrr set to life in search of bigger game. His stint with the
Army of the Republic was destined by birth, being born of the cloning vats
on Kamino, but his rigorous training and discipline could not wipe from
his mind the lust for bringing down the mammoth creatures from his dreams.
Somehow, Dextyrr had inherited "memories" embedded in the genetic coding
he received from his progenitor - Jango Fett. It seems that Fett had had many
brushes with large beasts during his tenure as a bounty hunter.

Dextyrr, caught by his desire to hunt, elected to train specifically with 'the
big guns' - the only tools he imagined could stand a chance of dropping 12 tons
of charging flesh and bone. His resultant skills proved useful to the Army in
many battles.

Custom 12" Cobra Commander in Sideshow / Dragon Style by ms_kittka

Cobra Commander is at the helm of his massive Cobra army, amassing soldiers, elite forces, and guards. Absolute power! Total control of the world . . . its people, wealth, and resources–that's the objective of Cobra Commander. This fanatical leader rules with an iron fist. He demands total loyalty and allegiance. His main battle plan for world control relies on revolution and chaos. He personally led uprisings in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and other trouble spots. Responsible for kidnapping scientists, businessmen, and military leaders, then forcing them to reveal their top level secrets. Cobra Commander is hatred and evil personified. Corrupt. A man without scruples. Probably the most dangerous man alive!

This week, ms_kittka brings us a highly detailed custom in the style of Sideshow and Dragon figures. This customizer describes how this Cobra Commander was made:

"This is a custom made Cobra Commander. The head is a made of a two part plastic compound. Casted from a silicon mold of a head sculpted especially for this project. The head is mounted onto a 1/6 scale Dragon body (neo 2 I think) with a two-part epoxy, then painted. The head is totally poseable. It can look up and down and spin all the way around 360 degree’s. The clothes are made from some heavily modified Kriegsmarine Dragon clothes."
There has been a resurgence of GI Joes as the 25th Anniversary is upon Joe fans across the world. This is a great time for Joe fans and each and every one of them should not miss out on ms_kittka's Custom 12" Cobra Commander!

Custom Hand Made WWE Wrestling Clothing by karisno

I will always have fond memories of the World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment). As a child, I worshiped such wrestling superstars as Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, The Ultimate Warrior, Demolition, and countless others. As a kid, I religiously watched Wrestling on Saturday mornings and also on Fridays (when I got to stay up late). Since I was a big fan of the live action, I found myself buying the toys (and even went as far as building my own custom wrestling wring out of a large box, Lincoln logs, and rubber bands. I spent hours recreating pivotal matches and I even bought the sound tracks so my toys wrestlers could enter my makeshift arena to their own music. But one thing was missing from the toys when I played with them as a child...realistic clothing!

Thanks to karisno, an eBay seller specializing in custom hand made clothing for wrestling figures, children of today (and adults) can sport miniature replicas of t-shirts, vests, jackets, coats, and outfits for thier wrestling figures. Just to give you and taste of how amazing these pieces of clothing are, take a look at some of the pictures:

These cloths will bring to life any wrestling superstar so make sure to get to karisno's eBay Store and check of the pieces of clothing he makes for other stars like Bret Hart, Triple H (HHH), Shawn Michaels, and many more! Custom Star Wars / Sideshow Aurra Sing Bounty Hunter by customikey

Pain, death and vengeance have been constants in Aurra Sing's life. Had she benefited from a better upbringing, perhaps she may have grown to be one of the greatest of the Jedi order. Instead, she became one its deadliest scourges.

cutomikey brings to life this Expanded Universe Bounty Hunter with life-like detail! As one of his prize custom pieces, he goes on to explain in more detail about how he brought Aurra to life:

"Aurra Sing, the first bounty hunter seen in the chronological Star Wars, from Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Seen briefly during the podrace, she has since developed into one of the most interesting characters in the Star Wars universe, developing a feared reputation as a devoted Jedi Killer. One might suppose that General Grievous's propensity for collecting the lightsabers of fallen Jedi was inspired by Aurra's example.

I made her from parts using the Hasbro Masterpiece figure and also a Sideshow figure chosen for it's excellent resemblance to the actress who portrayed Aurra in the film. She is painted in acrylics, with an eye for realism and detail. Her eyes look alive! Her costume and weapons were all weathered in acrylics for realism. Her antenna and the D-rings that hold the strap to her rifle are real metal. The barrels of her pistols have been drilled and her fingers have been seperated so she can slip them into the triggers. She has no problems holding any of her weapons. Thanks to the well-designed Sideshow body, she also has no trouble holding a variety of poses."

The weapon details initially caught my attention. The rifle and guns look like they have been through hell and back and the scale compliments the figure nicely. As you look closer, the way that her eyes have been detailed really make this custom come alive. Eyes are one of those details that if you get wrong, can throw off the entire look you were going for. The eyes, in this case, draw you in, which I am sure Aurra wants you to do so she can lay a world of Bounty Hunter hurt on you.

Compared to the Aurra Sing image from the Star Wars databank (shown above), customikey has truly done justice to her representation in the Star Wars Universe. If you want to own this amazing piece, simply go check out customikey's Custom Sideshow 12" Aurra Sing for yourself and discover how she can be yours by bidding on eBay! If you are interested in looking at other Custom Star Wars action figures and vehicles, check out my website at ActionFigureCustoms.com, where you will find all of the Custom Star Wars figures on eBay!

Custom Star Wars Lego Republic Attack Star Cruiser – 150 Pounds and 8 Feet of Lego Goodness

Back in December 2005, there was a charity auction for a one of a kind Lego custom from an actual LEGO Master Builder, Erik Varszegi. This gigantic piece, which had to be crated like a motorcycle for shipping, contained the following:

  • A framed certificate of authenticity that was signed by George Lucas and the Master Builder
  • Stem to stern the model is 97 inches 47 inches wide and was created using over 35,000 pieces
  • The model was built around a steel armature that runs down the spine of the ship and includes a rolling display frame
  • The model scale is 1:466 and took over 450 hours to build

I was in awe when I saw this back in 2005 and I have never wanted a Lego piece more than this one. So after over 60 bids and $36,000 later, this wonderful piece of Star Wars Lego history went to the high bidder and all of the proceeds went to Habitat for Humanity. This Attack Cruiser is long gone but you can find more Lego Customs on my website in the Custom Lego section of ActionFigureCustoms.com or head directly to eBay.

Custom Movie Transformers Leaderclass Brawl by pairadocs

You can tell which customs go the extra mile and which ones do not very easily. The detail on this Custom Leaderclass Brawl, for example, goes above and beyond simply repainting the figure. As pairadocs states in his listing:

"Brawl was cleaned up and his screw holes were filled in with a high-impact sculpting compound (Fixit Sculpt) and sanded smooth... you'd never know they existed (the two holes to open the battery compartment were left open though, so you can still get in there and swap out the two AA batteries he runs on when they wear out.) This results in a clean, complete figure that looks more like a "transformable sculpture" than a store-bought toy. I then prepped him and painted him from head to toe with high-quality model-grade acrylic paints... a COMPLETE repaint, incorporating actual military colors! The camouflage was done using an airbrush, for a nice subtle, realistic effect. The rest of the detail and weathering was done by hand, and the battle damage was done using various melty techniques... the end result? A Brawl that looks like he's seen a day or two (or in the middle) of serious battle!"

I am sure this will go for big money on eBay and if you are looking for an excellent piece of art from the movie, this Brawl is the one.
