G1 Human Alliance Jazz Custom

With a new larger scale Jazz in his hands, Frenzy.Rumble has taken an already amazing figure and given it a classic look with his Custom G1 Jazz Human Alliance figure.  Here is some background on this great figure from Frenzy.Rumble himself:

“Human Alliance Jazz is a remarkable figure. Hasbro has really outdone themselves with this larger, super accurate and detailed Jazz figure. When I first broke him out of his cardboard prison, he begged me to repaint him in his original Generation 1 color scheme. Remember, all paints used in the process were lacquer and enamel, so the finish is very durable, and the colors will stay vibrant and true for many many years (keep in mind, this is a collectible, so don’t throw it around!)”

Custom Transformers Boombox and DJ Megahurts

Let’s give it up for the creativity of Kingbotz with his winning entry in the TFW 2005 Custom contest with his Custom Transformers Animated Boombox and DJ Megahurts.  The Decepticons have Soundwave, which leaves the Autobots lacking a boomin’ system until now.  Kingbotz has made a killer system that will sure to entertain all of the Autobots.   Boombox was made from the Animated “Roll-Out Command” Supreme figure and various other materials from other toys.  In place of his smoke-stacks are antennas extendable up to 3 feet!  Boombox transforms from a truck to robot to dj-platform and back again.  To see more photos and snatch up this one of a kind figure, head over to eBay and check out Kingbotz’s Custom Transformers Animated Boombox and DJ Megahurts.  For a demo of how it works, check out this video:

Ever wanted to know what Jon Stewart of The Daily Show looked like in a Storm Trooper costume or, better yet, as an action figure?   Thanks to Jow Moscone from Hasbro’s PR devision for sending this press release over to AFC:

“Earlier this afternoon at STAR WARS Celebration V in Orlando, The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart sat down for a one-hour interview with STAR WARS creator George Lucas in what was billed “The Main Event.”  Hasbro is proud and honored to create a special gift for Stewart, which Lucas presented to him during the event – a one of a kind (NOT FOR SALE) 3.75-inch Jon Stewart Stormtrooper action figure!  The figure, which is packaged on a unique blister card, includes a removable helmet and two interchangeable heads sculpted in Stewart’s likeness – one with a clean shaven face and the other styled with Stewart’s recent goatee.”

Transformers Human Alliance Jazz G1 Custom

There are a couple aspects of the Transformers Human Alliance figures that I like.  First, they are doing the more popular figures in Voyager Class scale.  Second, these larger figures provide a great canvas for talented customizers like Xaviercal to showcase his skill with this Custom Transformers Human Alliance Jazz in a G1 redeco.  This figure pays a grea homage to the Generation 1 classic figure we grew up with with a couple great additions/modifications.  You will first notice the hood scoop on the car, which makes the car look meaner in vehicle mode.  Also, Xaviercal changed out the hands and also added a ball joint to the head of Jazz to make him more poseable.  Check out the figure in robot mode:

Jedi Master Dooku

Before there was Count Dooku, there was Jedi Master Dooku and Jackoftradze has created this figure based on the comic likeness.  I really like his shading technique for this figure, which makes it look like Dooku is wearing real leather.  It is this technique that separates the great from the good customs.  Using Christopher Lee’s Dooku figure as the head, he has created a much younger looking figure to portray his journey before the dark side.  To own this figure, head over to eBay and check out Jackoftradze’s Custom Star Wars Jedi Master Dooku figure.

Custom Lego Masters of the Universe Evil Lyn: This figure is very well done.  The styling of the outfit and the overall look and feel of the character is a great match to the vintage figure.

Custom Marvel Legends Jean Grey

First off, I am back home from Comic Con 2010 and it was a fabulous show.  I really enjoyed seeing everyone in costume and viewing the great toys that are coming up from Hasbro, Mattel, and Sideshow.  That said, the focus of today’s article is JRS Toys’ Custom Marvel Legends Jean Grey X-Men figure.  Modeled after a mash up of her Uncanny X-Men and X-Men cartoon appearances, JRS has captured her likeness with two alternative heads (shown in the photo above).  The facial features, including the eyes and the hair, are very well done, which gives the figure a great personality.  There is less than an a day left to grab this great figure so head over to eBay and bid on JRS Toys’ Custom Marvel Legends Jean Grey X-Men figure.

Rolling Thunder Prime Transformers GI Joe Crossover

Combining two of the greatest toy lines ever created, Encline Designs has outdone himself again on a massive scale.  Standing over 2 feet tall (28 inches to be exact), he brings us the ultimate in crossovers with his Rolling Thunder Prime Transformers GI Crossover figure.  I could not believe my eyes when I first saw this giant of a figure.  Inspired by a sketch, Encline Designs executed this masterpiece with precision!  I love hearing the stories about what inspired customizers to create these works of art and we are lucky enough to get a peek into Encline’s mind:

“You ever see a comic or picture of an amazing character and you just wished you could show it off in your own collection? I have and that is what made me bring to life this Rolling Thunder Prime! I’m sure you’ll in agree in that Don Figueroa is one of the most well known Transformers artist. Inspired by Don’s sketch of Rolling Thunder Prime (and having received the blessing by Don himself), I set out on an eight month journey to sketch, plan, design and build it. Only I wanted to use an original Rolling Thunder! So that’s what I did, I scratch built him 100%. From the head, hands, legs and everything in between! In doing this I also wanted to incorporate the idea of G1 Prime as a truck with a trailer. So I “super-sized” the rocket deck to be a mobile command center. I am proud to present the truly one of a kind Encline Designs: Rolling Thunder Optimus Prime! The first of my large scale crossovers! This custom is special to me because it has been a breakthrough for me as an artist. Custom Night Force Tomahawk GI Joe

The classic GI Joe Night Force line was a great concept and I wished that they had made more special ops Night Force figures and vehicles but this is where customizers come in.  They fill in the gaps where the toy companies have failed, which brings me to this latest custom GI Joe Night Force Tomahawk vehicle.  A helicopter is is a perfect addition to the Night Force Line.  The vehicle is very well detailed with Night Force logos and red accents that are in the right places.  This GI Joe Night Force Tomahawk is very well done!

Custom Transformers Cybertron Signal Lancer

First of all, let me apologize for being out of the loop for a bit but my day job and a whole lot of yard work has been keeping me busy these days.  With that out of the way, let’s focus on a one of kind creation from Kingbotz with his Custom Transformers Cybertron Signal Lancer.  I love when customizers take on figures that have never been done before and Kingbotz has definitely delivered on this one.  One of my favorite things to do is read about the stories behind the customs so let’s check out where Kingbotz got his inspiration for this custom:

“Up for sale is one of the few toys we never got from the Transformers Cybertron toy-line, Signal Lancer!  This little Autobot was a HUGE hit with fans all over, and unfortunately for whatever reason, the toy was never made for this little hero.  Signal Lancer only showed up briefly in a few episodes of the Cybertron series, and I was thrilled by the concept and decided it had to be done! Signal Lancer was made using the Cybertron Mudflap toy and various other materials and loaded with electronics, allowing full-transformation with LED lighting in all 3 lenses including a flashing red-LED at the flick of a switch!  All 3 lights have separate batteries and switches allowing the figure to transform freely and lights to operate independently.  The beauty of this figure is nothing goes to waste:  The post becomes his “lance” and base becomes his shield!  During transformation, the post unscrews from the bottom of the red-light mode and the base as well using threaded-rod.  There is a pivoting threaded post on his left arm that accommodates the shield in bot mode.”

Custom Samus Aran Metroid Figure

When I was a kid, I remember wasting so many hours playing Metroid on the 8 bit Nintendo system and Narpa Sword Customs has a blast from the past with his Custom Samus Aran with bonus Metroid figure.  This Samus is in GI Joe scale and looks fantastic!  Granted, the 8 bit Nintendo version looks nothing like this one but as the gaming systems got more sophisticated, Samus got better and better and this figure epitomizes the Metroid era for me.  This figure is very highly detailed and well done!  Here is what the bonus Metroid figure looks like:

Custom Revenge of the Fallen Sunstreaker

Using the Transformers Human Alliance Sideswipe as the base, DarkCaveCustoms has spun off an oldie but goodie in name only with his Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Sunstreaker figure.  The design of this figure is one of my favorites from the line.  I loved the concept that Autobots can skate around on their wheels, which seems like a faster way get from point A to point B now that I think about it.  For DarkCave’s figure, I like the more subdued yellow paint app versus the bright yellow of the G1 Sunstreaker figure.  Here is what the figure looks like in vehicle mode:

Custom Revenge of the Fallen Leader Class Starscream

It is great when customizers get their hands on a figure that is their favorite in the toy line and this is the case for Frenzy.Rumble’s Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Leader Class Starscream figure.  He took a great figure and made it perfect.  Attention to detail is something that Frenzy.Rumble does very well.  For example, he removed the tattoos that did not appear on the Movie Starscream and redid them to make the figure as movie accurate as he could.  I also like small details and it is great to see that he put ball joints on the hands as this gives the figure the personality and poseability from the movie.  To see the level of detail and hard work that goes into these customs, check out the before and after shots:

Frenzy and Rumble as Grave Digger

Kingbotz has one hell of a crossover figure in store for you.  Looks like he took Skids and Mudflap, the fugly looking Ice Cream truck, and turned them into a Custom Monster Machine, switched their allegiance, and changed them into an awesome update homage to Frenzy and Rumble, the small G1 tape cassettes we all grew up with.  I am a big fan of Kinbotz’s customs and his Custom Frenzy and Rumble as Gravedigger one blew me away.  I really love the use of the wheels in this one in their robot modes.  He has taken the Revenge of the Fallen concepts of having the robots skate around on their wheels and gave the figures a unique look and ability.  Here to give us the background on this great piece is Kinbotz himself:

“Here is a concept I’ve been meaning to bang out for quite some time, and give use to that hideous ROTF mold, the ice-cream truck. Yes, as much as I hate the parts-former idea, it really works quite well with this concept, as you can mount the wheels different ways on Frenzy and Rumble, so all you’re left with is the undercarriage…and the undercarriage will actually oscillate for those car-crushing dioramas like in the Twin Twist pic below. Coincidentally, both Grave Digger and the ice-cream truck are old Chevy vehicles and have similiar body-styles. I really hated this factory figure, and neither figure could barely stand on his own….

I gave both figures too many heavy mods to mention, but to name a few…

-All side-art & logos freehanded
-Totally scratch-built undercarriage
-Side rear windows shaved smooth
-Front bumper removed & grill clipped
-Frenzy’s shoulders reversed for better articulation
-Both figure’s legs modified to accommodate the wheels

I was intrigued to know more about D&D Customs when I found out they were recreating the entire GI Joe line into Marvel Legends 6″ figures.  Let’s learn more about them:

AFC: Tell the fans of your work a little about yourself.

D&D CUSTOMS: We started designing customs Marvel Legends style 1/12 scale (6 to 7 inch) action figures under the name D&D CUSTOMS towards the end of 2008.  I originally, as a child, collected a majority of toy lines like transformers, gi joe, star wars, dungeons and dragons, MASK, etc in the 1:18 scale standard gi joe size scale. It was not until recently that we started to appreciate the 6 inch scale which allows for greater detail and more of an adult collector feel without the size of a 12 inch figure which always felt more like a doll. We started recreating the Dungeons and Dragons toy line in a Marvel Legends style format at first and now we are working on doing the GI Joe toy line in the same 6 inch scale. We do side custom projects like the Xena and Hercules toy series and other game and movie characters from time to time upon request.  We sell our customs exclusively with two eBay stores below:

AFC: When did you start making customs?

D&D CUSTOMS: Late 2008

AFC: How did you get started making customs?

D&D CUSTOMS: I have always loved the GI Joe and Dungeon and Dragons toy line and wanted to create a more detailed fully poseable version for display.

AFC: How many customs do you work on at one time?

D&D CUSTOMS: We sometimes work on 10 a week. We alternate depending on when some are drying from sculpt or paint. We also employ artists from around the world to work on variations of a figure.

AFC: What is the custom you are most proud of?

D&D CUSTOMS: I have asked myself that question a lot and honestly I am not sure if I have an answer. I would have to go with my favorite character of all time which is The 1st character I was inspired to do, Venger from the Dungeons and Dragons animated series.

AFC: What is your favorite toy line to do customs for?

AFC: How do you get your inspiration for your one of kind customs?

D&D CUSTOMS: I try to do a combination between the way the original toy looked, the current new version of the toy if it exists ,and the original picture from the carded figure.

AFC: You have taken on a large task of recreating the GI Joe line in Marvel Legends scale.  What inspired you to do this?

D&D CUSTOMS: After seeing how the dungeons and dragons figures came out, we realized that doing a fully poseable gi joe custom with all the accessories and gear would be a fun project. Other toy designers also helped serve as inspiration.

AFC: What has been your toughest challenge recreating the GI Joe line?

D&D CUSTOMS: Honestly customizing is very expensive. Some customs parts can easily cost up to $200 which does not include all of the research.  We sometimes buy 7 figures just to combine parts to make 1. Others are full sculpts and do not cost much other than time. We spends weeks trying to find the right bases and weaponry that will make the figures look like the original, but to also have a more adult modern military like feel.

AFC: If you had one piece of advice for other customizers out there, what would you say to them?

D&D CUSTOMS: Be patient with each sculpt.  Think the whole project through in steps in your head before you start.

Custom Clone Wars Bomb Squad Trooper

One of the great things about the Clone Wars animated series is the introduction of new clone troopers.  There have been so many new Clone Troopers introduced in the series and I am surprised at the slow production of new clones from Hasbro.  This is where the customizers come in and made figures that fans need and love.  I-am-Boba-Fett has a figure that your squad needs to diffuse the most tense situations.  His Custom Clone Wars Bomb Squad Trooper comes with 2 C.I.S. bombs and would be an excellent addition to your Clone Wars army.  Here is what the Clones look like from the Animated Series:

Custom Transformers Hearts of Steel Optimus Prime

As of 2007, IDW produced a comic called Transformers ‘Evolutions: Hearts of Steel’ where the series was set sometime during the Industrial Revolution.  Thanks to famed Transformer artist Guido Guidi, he was able to redisign our favorite Transformers based on technology of the time period such as Optimus Prime as a locomotive, which brings us to our latest custom from Sabrina Ng with her Custom Transformers Hearts of Steel Optimus Prime figure.  For this figure, she has given it her signature paint aps where she can make plastic look like metal and she also has wired 8 LED’s throughout!  If you are a fan of Optimus Prime and locomotives, head over to eBay and check out Sabrina’s Custom Transformers Hearts of Steel Optimus Prime figure.  Here is what it looks like in locomotive form:

Custom Marvel Legends Darth Maul

Ever wonder what happened after Darth Maul fell down the shaft after getting bisecting by Obi Wan?  NTT has an theory on this with his latest Custom Marvel Legends Darth Maul figure.  Building on the Star Wars Visionaries comic, NTT depicts Darth Maul as a much meatier cyborg than the I have seen in concept art but that is what I like about it.  You can imagine Darth Sidious, in his haste, gathering the only parts he could find to quickly resurrect Darth Maul for more Sith missions.  This Darth Maul looks like he can do some real damage with those legs.  Although the gracefulness of the figure is somewhat overtaken by the large legs, Darth Maul still looks like he is a force to reckon with.

Custom Transformers Masterpiece Megatron FLAK 88 Kitbash

Continuing the Masterpiece theme from yesterday, JAF has a kitbash that is very unique.  His Custom Transformers Masterpiece Megatron Flak 88 kitbash figure crosses several generations.  The robot mode is remeniscant of the G1 Megatron that we all know and love but the alternate mode many may not be familiar with.  One of my favorite hobbies is also catching up on World War 2 history and the alternate mode of this figure is a Flak 88 cannon:

I love the originality of this figure!  Remember in the storyline for Revenge of the Fallen, Jetfire was talking about the Decepticons being there for a long time and this figure would fit into the the 1930′s and 40′s era as being hidden in plane site.  A great use of Megatron and incorporating some history in the figure is a big plus for me!  To view more photos of Megs clashing with Prime, head over to eBay and check out JAF’s Custom Transformers Masterpiece Megatron Flak 88 kitbash figure.

Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Defensor

Standing over an impressive 21″ tall, ThyVipera brings us his G1 Masterpiece Transformers Custom Defensor combiner.  This is the scale that toy makes should have been making combiners.  The bigger the better!  This Defensor looks very much like the G1 classic.  The classic powder blue coloring is unmistakable.  ThyVipera also did a great job selecting parts from various Transformers.  Here is a photo showing the scale of the figure (note: the Skywarp is a Masterpiece figure…he looks so tiny!):

In order to make figures the best they can be, sometimes customizers have to create figures that do not break down into smaller parts or other transformers figures, which is the case for this Defensor.  Nonetheless, this is an awesome figure so head over to eBay and check out more photos of ThyVipera’s G1 Masterpiece Transformers Custom Defensor combiner.

Custom Marvel Legends Storm Shadow Figure

Setting out on the very large task of recreating every GI Joe figure made into a 6″ Marvel Legends style figure, D&D Customs brings us his latest Custom Marvel Legends Storm Shadow figure.  Modeled after the original from the 80′s, this figure brings in the detail that made the classic line so great.  First of all, the weaponry is very nice done and it is great that all of the pieces are removable (even the knife in the from of the belt).  The way the eyebrows and eyes were made gives the figure a fierce looking personality.  What is cool about D&D’s version is that you can pose the figure with the arrow drawn with the bow, an aspect that reminds me of some of the figures from the Sideshow Toy collection.  Here is an example:

Battle Ops Bumblebee Custom Transformers 12" Figure

Packed full of lights, sounds, and standing 12″ tall, Frenzy.Rumble’s Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Battle Ops Bumblebee is larger than life (at least from a toy perspective).  Frenzy.Rumble packs all he can into every custom and here are a list of features for this one:

• Electronic Sounds : Bumblebee has over 20 different voice clips and sound effects in robot and car modes. Including “Time to take out the trash”, “I will protect you” and many more. Different sound/voice clips for each (Guardian Duty, Battle Duty, and Camaro modes)
• Electronic Lights : Super bright BLUE LED light up eyes, 2 Red LED lights in his arm cannon, Light up head and fog lights (Camaro mode), light up shoulder cannons
• Flip down battle mask
• Left arm auto-transforms into arm cannon
• Battle mask activates different sounds and phrases
• Flip out cannons in both car and robot modes

If you look close, you can see some very fine battle damage detailing, which is very well placed in the figure.  The plastic really has the appearance of metal and the light effects are definitely not photo shopped.  Here is what the figure looks like in car mode:

Custom Marvel Legends Death's Head II

Ripped from the pages of Marvel Comics comes Boskoes’ Custom Marvel Legends Death’s Head II figure.  Boskoes has pulled out all the stops for their version of Marvel’s robotic peacekeeper.  Let’s take a look at what they did:

“Super big, super bad, and super posable. Even his “real metal” wire hair can be posed to blow in the apocalyptic wind. We emptied out our trick bag here, and our bank account too lol. We built a huge custom blended paint map for this charcter, used airbrushing to give a blended transition on his infamous murder arm, and even worked up a decapitated original Death’s Head accessory ala the classic Deaths Head II issue #1 comic cover that shows him holding it up.”

I love the wire hair!  You don’t see many customs with poseable hair these days so that is very unique.  The painting and shading techniques look really stellar and I am sure this figure looks 1000% better in person.

G1 Huffer Custom Transformers Minibot

This minibot may not be so mini after all but Sculpt-Bot Customs has paid a very nice homage to the little minibot who could with his Custom G1 Transformers Huffer figure.  Using parts from a Transformers Animated Optimus Prime, a modified cab from the Supreme Devastator Mixmaster and other scratch built pieces, Sculpt-Bot really captured the essence of Huffer.  He also captured the feel of the 80′s classic figure with the signature orange and blue paint aps that Huffer is known and loved for.  Let’s check him out in robot mode:

Custom Steampunk Hearts of Steal Optimus Prime

Kicking it old school (I mean super old school going way back before cars were invented), Encline Designs premiers his Steampunk Custom Hearts of Steel Optimus Prime figure.  With a mix of the old West and the classic 80′s coloring of the G1 Optimus Prime, this figure sure is a one of kind and a very cool concept.  Encline is also a master of marketing and has made a very cool video about this figure:

Cyclonus and Scourge Custom G1 Transformers

JCArtwork has a two for one special up this week with their Custom Cyclonus and Scourge G1 Transformers figures.  Remembering the Transformers Cartoon Movie as a kid,  the animation was was very gritty.  With the way that these two figures are painted and detailed, they look like they have been through hell and back.  The carbon scoring detail makes it look like they burst from the screen and into reality.  With the destruction of Megatron and resurrection of Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge took their place in rank.  These two figures would be amazing additions to anyone’s Transformers collection, especially if you have a Galvatron.  I enjoy reading about what inspired customizers to create thier works so here is JCArtwork to explain these two figures:

“I happened to ask myself what is the best custom in the world.Well this has been a very mind bothering question as I have always wanted to try out new stuff whenever I spot any interesting project online.But to me creativity is the best tools to innovate and create new things that is beyond our imagination. I always wanted to turn our favourite G1 transformers into something that can b more articulative when I was a kid .And it was merely a dream at that point of time.throughout the years people has been trying out alot of creative methods to revive our G1 transformers into live which is kinda inspiring .So with the help of some online reference I managed to get myself done with my first modification with G1 genre transformers ,Cyclonus and Scourge .It was quite tough in the first place as it seems to be easier than making it .Realising that it actually need alot of hard work than I really have to go through alot of steps before completing the whole project.And yes it took me a few months to reassemble them back in 1 piece and I have used the nearest paint application with the G1 Genre to give them the extra touch to bring us back to the 80′s and let our child in us comes alive again.Still remember after the retreat of the decepticons and fleet to  cybertron ,and that’s how the injured decepticons and megatron turn into Galvatron ,Scourge and Cyclonus by Unicron.”

Custom Iron Man Mark VI Custom by Jin Saotome

Just a couple hours left to nab this awesome Custom Iron Man Mark VI figure by Jin Saotome!  Sometimes looks can be deceiving in this 3.5″ figure!  As Jin states, in his auction,

“…sometimes the easiest ‘planned’ customs turn out to be pretty hard. When I cracked open the light-up Mark VI 3 3/4″ Iron Man pieces went everywhere! There are multiple metal tabs that are held in place by the body and set against the main battery. Those had to be put back in, the LED swapped from orange to a blue one, and the leads bent to match the circuit. A few hours later I was actually able to get him back together and working! He was repainted like the 6″ figure that’s coming out as a Walmart exclusive and lights up bright blue now.”

What a great idea to replace the orange LED with a blue LED and the repainted figure looks worlds better than the original factory job.  Even the smallest of details make this figure shine!  For example, some of the figure is outlined in black (mouth, knees, eyes) and it is this subtle detail that makes this figure stand out among the rest.  Like I said before, just a couple hours left on this auction so head over to eBay and place a bid on Jin’s Custom Iron Man Mark VI figure and own a figure from a legend in the customizing community!

Custom ROTF Scourge

I love when customizers take on Scourge because I love to see what they do to the trailer.  This week, Toyphilia has a great Custom Transformers ROTF Scourge figure with a very simple, yet effective, trailer.  I have seen many Scourge trailers but I really like the simplicity of this one.  The black Decepticon logo at an angle adds the right touch to the custom painted ROTF Optimus Prime.  I also like the lightning effects as it is a very different look that I have seen from other Scourge figures.  The robot mode also looks very cool as well:

Custom Clear Cast Zartan 25th Anniversary Figure

The great thing about Zartan is that he is the master of disguises and War’s Customs has made this a reality with his Custom Clear Cast Zartan GI Joe 25th Anniversary figure.  What is great about this figure is that Zartan can finally achieve invisibility.  Also, the figure is made of liquid plastic instead of resin.  Here is a side by side shot with the original Zartan and War’s Custom Clear Cast Zartan:

Custom Lego Star Wars 327th Gunship

The Gunships have to be one of my favorite vehicles from the newer Star Wars movies and JoesCustomsCreations has created Commander Bly’s battalion complete with a ride with his Custom Lego Star Wars 327th Gunship.   Dubbed “The Hornet,” this Gunship is ready for action and with the 327th Clone Troopers ready for action, this Gunship with make your Lego Star Wars universe feel like the Clone Wars is actually happening but on a much smaller scale.  Commander Bly does require a bit more specialized forces and weaponry so JoesCustomCreations has pimped out this Gunship with 2 side mounted mini Gatling Guns, a Roving ATV, and an escape Jet.  This is truly one of the more unique Gunships I have scene to date.  Here is a closeer look at the troops:

Cable Custom Marvel Legends X-Force Figure

Whether BoskoesToys is making Custom Transformers, Iron Man, or the multitude of figures they specialize in, they always do a stellar job and their Custom Marvel Legends X-Force Cable figure is no exception.  This figure looks downright mean and nasty and that large gun by his side compliments the figure’s demeanor.  BoskoesToys does exceptionally well at the finer details in figures.  The paint aps, for one, are amazing, and the addition of the black shading gives the figure depth and dimension.  For more photos and to place a bid on this great figure, head over to eBay and check out BoskoesToys’ Custom Marvel Legends X-Force Cable figure.

Custom Generation 1 Cartoon Style Insecticons

FrogDNA is going back to the Transformers roots with his Generation 1 Cartoon Style Insecticon figures.  If you want figures that resemble the G1 cartoons, you have to turn to customizers.  FrogDNA has done a great job staying true the classic Generation 1 color scheme from the original cartoons of the 80′s and the matte lacquer finish really compliments the style of the figures.  To check out the modifications to the figures and to get more detail on the paint aps, head over to eBay and check FrogDNA’s Generation 1 Cartoon Style Insecticon figures.

Winston Churchill World War 2 Alternate History Figure

World War 2 is my favorite period of history to learn and read about and Jin Saotome has flipped the history books upside down with his line of World Wars 2 Alternate History figure line.  I missed this figure last week so it is not available anymore but I thought I would do a retrospective right up on Jin’s Custom Winston Churchill GI Joe figure.  As you can see, this is not the same Winston Churchill from the 1940′s.  Let’s read more about how Jin has rewritten history:

“Though the assassination attempt utilizing an exploding tea chair left him only half the man he use to be, Churchill still found the courage to rise for battle. The Allies’ top scientists got to work on a new lower body built for combat. Outfitted with powerful servos, shield panels, a flame unit, and mechanical stomping legs, Winston joined Roosevelt and the others to fight the Axis up front and personal. Churchill enjoys rolling into battle sideways and bowling into the Nazis yelling “STRIKE!” leaving no one spared. The tide has turned, but the war still rages on!”

Emma Frost Custom Marvel Legends Figure

I had the great opportunity to interview Rateeg Creations back in February 2008.  Rateeg Creations has a beautiful Custom Marvel Legends Emma Frost figure up this week.  Hand sculpted and painted, there are many aspects of this figure that stand out.  First, the head sculpt looks very life like and the eyes on this figure are amazing.  If you do eyes right, the figure takes on a personality of its own.  The facial features are very proportional and the hair on the figure is very well done.  For figures like this, I am all about the eyes and the hair and this Emma Frost is stunning.  The figure also comes with a cloth cape.  I am also a big fan of mixing in soft goods with the figure.  There is less than a day left to nab this great figure so head over to eBay and checkout more photos of Rateeg Creations’ Custom Marvel Legends Emma Frost.

Custom Transformer G1 Jetfire Tetrajet by Kingbotz

I love the imagination of the customizers out there and this week, Kingbotz has his version of what Jetfire looked like on his journey to earth with his Custom Transformers G1 Cybertronian Jetfire Tetrajet.  The angles on this figure really give it the look and feel of a craft coming from Cybertron and the colors give it that G1 character.  Here to tell us more about this one of a kind creation is Kingbotz himself:

“So here’s the latest addition to my line of Tetrajets, Jetfire. Right now I’m working on some harder stuff, but I’m still doing the jets on the side to keep the line going. It started as Cybertron Starscream Supreme, and finished as the biggest and sharpest jet I’ve done yet I think.

Jetfire has 3 modes: Robot, jet and Mecha-mode!

I believe when Jetfire entered earth’s atomosphere from space during exploration, he would’ve actually still been in his Cybertronian-Tetrajet form, not an earth-jet…but I still gave his numbered designation “VF-1″ to tribute the original toy which was modeled after the Valkylrie-Fighter 1 military jet.  I also implemented his original G1 boosters into both modes, as optional features, which can be displayed in multiple ways in both modes, or can be taken off completely. I gave him a ball-jointed head, and modified the head to resemble Jetfire’s and get away from the Starscream-look. I added a second barrel to his gun and added a peg to the bottom so you can pop the gun off and have him actually hold the gun in his hand. It all worked out, and you can comfortably wedge the boosters between his wings in the back to resemble the G1 booster pack from the cartoon.”

Custom Transformers G1 Drift

Frenzy.Rumble has a great figure up this week with his Custom Transformers G1 Drift figure.  Let’s read more about this one of a kind custom:

“This custom was a project I’ve wanted to complete for about a year now. Drift is a great character, and he’s never been given justice in any toy form. I took an Alternity (not Alternator) version of Megatron, swapped out the head, gave him a super shiny paint job, awesome vehicle graphics, chrome custom built swords (x2), articulated hands, and a super detailed metallic paint job on all his robot parts. The Japanese text on his doors reads “Drift”.”

It is great to see figures other than the most popular ones as this gives collectors a chance to branch out and complete their collections with one of a kind customs that you will never see on the shelf.  Great work!

G1 Custom Transformers Devastator with LED's

Encline Designs consistently makes incredible customs and his Custom G1 Transformers 15″ Devastator is a great example of his talent.  A lot of thought goes into these creations so here are some of the modifications that Encline has made:

“1) I added a custom hand-sculpted head (sculpted by Ptitvite). 2) The incredibly detailed paint job of adding mud, wear, and rust while holding true to the classic color scheme of G1 Devastator. You will also notice the cement dried in MixMaster’s chute and drum. For the thighs and the face, I wanted to make them look like steel so I airbrushed them with chrome and a slight blue candy hue at certain angles. 3) I replaced the piece of plastic in the crane hydraulic with an aluminum rod to look more realistic. 4) To top it off, I am the first to add LEDs. As always, I think LEDs should compliment the figure and not be the main focus. So I installed four LEDs inside his torso for Longhaul’s headlights. I also installed an ultra violet LED inside the custom built chest piece to light up the Decepticon symbol. The headlights and the chest shield are on separate circuits as well as have their own easily accessible battery packs. 5) Added custom Encline Construction logos heehee”

The choice of green that used has more of an iridescence quality to it.  In some photos it looks more florescent in other photos it looks like the classic Constructicon green.   I especially like the Encline Construction logo, which is very subtle so you can play a quick game of ‘Where’s Waldo’ to find them.  Bidding is hot on this Custom G1 Transformers 15″ Devastator figure and it has exceeded over $2000 already so head over to eBay and jump in the action!

Custom Transformers 'The Junction' Thomas the Tank Engine Combiner

When I first saw this custom from Frenzy.Rumble, I really did not know what to think at first.  As I looked closer, I realized that this was not just a repaint of a G1 Transformers combiner but a totally new idea that Frenzy.Rumble had come up with.  If anyone has kids, they will appreciate his Custom Transformers ‘The Junction’ Combiner made from Thomas and Friends trains.  I always thought that the Thomas show was a bit odd but the toys were great and kids love them!  Frenzy.Rumble is great at putting imagination in motion and his latest figure is no exception.  To view more photos, head over to eBay and check out his Custom Transformers ‘The Junction’ Combiner figure.

Toss N Cross GI Joe Transformers Custom Crossover

More than meets the eye is one way to describe Boggs6ft7′s Custom GI Joe Transformers Crossover Toss N Cross figure.  As I was scrolling through the Custom GI Joe section of my site, I saw this GI Joe vehicle and thought to myself that someone must have repainted the old 80′s GI Joe Bridgelayer but upon closer inspection, I discovered something cool!  Boggs6ft7 has taken the Transformers Universe Dropshot figure and used it as the base for this Toss n Cross custom.  How cool is that!  So not only do you get a killer homage to a cool GI Joe vehicle but you get the added ability of the vehicle to transform.  What a great way to combine two legendary toy lines.  Well done!

Custom Marvel Legends Lion-O

BoskoesToys has created a great homage to one of the coolest figures and toy lines with their Custom Marvel Legends Lion-O figure.  What is great about this figure is that there is so much detail and the addition of the bear skin cloak really completes the figure.  Like every one of Boskoes’ customs, they pour everything they got into each figure and this Lion-O is no exception.  The way they applied the paint aps on this one gives the figure such depth and character.  When I was a kid, I used to mingle my toy lines and this Thundercats figure would be a great addition to your Masters of the Universe collection as well so head over to eBay and check out Boskoes’ Custom Marvel Legends Lion-O figure.

Custom Lego Star Wars Royal Guard Tie Interceptor

One of my favorite vehicles from the original Star Wars movies was the Tie Interceptors and jojojrshabado has followed the exact Lego specifications but created this awesome Custom Lego Star Wars Royal Guard Tie Interceptor.  Since Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine surrounded themselves with the red Royal Guards, it would only make sense that Vader would have a custom red version made to escort himself from moon to moon or planet to planet.  To place a bid on this great vehicle, head over to eBay and check out jojojrshabado’s Custom Lego Star Wars Royal Guard Tie Interceptor.

Jetfire Custom Revenge of the Fallen Transformers Figure

I have always been a fan of the military and the “might” that they produce so when I saw that Jetfire was an SR-71 Blackbird I was stoked and Bratimus Customs has paid a great homage to this great warrior with his Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Jetfire.  The paint aps on this figure bring out so much of the detail that was lost in the original Hasbro version.  The style of paint really adds depth to the figure and brings the character to life.  I can almost hear Jetfire’s crotchety old voice through this figure.  The blue LED’s are a great addition to the figure!

Ever since Revenge of the Fallen came out of the theaters, this character had me hooked.  He was cranky, old, and most of all fun!  I’ve always been curious as to what Jetfire would look like in his toy version. When he was finally released, I have to say that Jetfire was such a canvas for creativity.We had a blast just trying to add details to the final paint.  We ended up deciding to put details on the gears inside his torso and thighs that we had to sacrifice some of the electronics particularly the sounds that he makes.  Moreover, we had to sacrifice the Decepticon, skunk and Lt. Col. Brawley Insigna to make the jet look like a a sleek blackbird.

Custom Scratch Built G1 Devastator

JC Artwork has poured his heart and soul into this magnificent Custom Transformers G1 Devastator.  The detailing on this figure makes it come alive.  The grit and grime of these 6 Decepticons makes it feel like these could be real vehicles that will one day form into the massive Devastator from a construction site.  JC Artwork has also paid a great homage to this behemoth by staying true to the Generation 1 look and feel of this figure.  I always love hearing what inspired customizers to spend so much time and effort making these customs so let’s read more about JC Artwork and Devastator:

“This is a customize decepticon combiner Devastator ,which I spent 1 year in making.A lots of effort has been done building from scratch till completion. When I first saw Frenzy Rumble Devastator,it really hit me which is way too cool to make such a masterpiece in a lifetime experience.I thought it would be impossible for me to achieve such a massive robot,but the urge to build 1 has driven me to find out more on the construction for the project.I took a great step forward and challenge myself . I did a lot of research to get the proper details of how this bitch was being build,of cos there is a lot of trade secret behind it hahahaha.From sourcing of parts to construction ,which really took me 1 year in making.The process of building such a masterpiece was really excruciating but fun, I got alot of injuries during the construction n even got some great cuts on my fingers ,but nevertheless it was worth it when the result turn out to be what I have expected.The construction was completed on Sept 2009. Headmaster Hardhead and Duros Custom Transformers

Who knew a Transformers Armada Megatron could look so great?  Frenzy.Rumble is up to what he does best and has transformers a lackluster figure into this awesome Custom Transformers Headmaster Hardhead figure.  I love the gritty and raw look and feel this figure has.  Frenzy.Rumble always has a great story to tell so let’s read more about his inspiration for this figure:

“As a kid, I always had a special love for Headmasters. One that I particularly remember well was Hardhead. I wanted to do a more modern revamp of this character. This custom started as an Armada Megatron. I completely rebuilt and replaced the upper legs, allowing much more articulation (rotation above knee, then full hip and knee articulation) I replaced the hands with articulated hands, which also rotate at the wrist. I had to make more space for these hands in the front (shoulder) treads. I heavily modified the turret/top of his alternate mode. Adding guns and a cockpit (Duros does not fit in) This turret rotates. For the head (Duros) I combined a Nightstick from Universe Cyclonus with a Safeguard (Vector Prime) Added ball joint articulation to the hips. Once built, I added some battle scars and painted him with some custom blends using House of Kolors (lacquer), and Testor model master (enamel).Hardhead stands approximately 11 inches tall. Duros stands approximately 1.75 inches tall.”

Omega Supreme Custom Scratch Built Transformer

It is only a couple months into the new year but Xaviercal has one of my favorite customs of 2010 with his Custom Transformers Omega Supreme scratch built figure.  It is one thing to take a figure and do an excellent paint ap on it but to take an amalgamation of transformers parts and turn it into a vision is another thing that transforms into both a robot and vehicle mode.  Some of the scratch built Transformers customs I have seen only have one mode but Xaviercal has gone above and beyond with his Omega Supreme.  Here is more detail on this great figure:

“This is a one of a kind scratch built Custom Transformer, built from head to toe. He stands roughly about 20 inches (51cm) tall. This custom has been compile with many different generations transformers parts. The main body of Omega Supreme transforms into a Space Shuttle Launcher. The chest and head turns into a mini tank. The legs turn into a Cybertronian Space Shuttle similar to the Autobot Ark. He is fully painted into G1 color scheme and detailed.”

Custom Transformers Animated Kup

Sometimes things happen for a reason and due to a buyer backing out on a commission, Frenzy.Rumble has placed his first venture into the Transformers Animated series with his Custom Transformers Animated Kup figure.  The Animated Optimus Prime was the perfect base for Kup as the figure looks a lot like the Generation 1 figure with the Cybertronian design.  To tell us more about this figure, here is what Frenzy.Rumble wrote:

“This is my first dive (and a little late) into the Transfomer’s Animated series. Originally, this was a commissioned project, but the buyer backed out (before seeing the pictures) and (lucky for you) he is now available through this auction. Thanks to the great customizer ”Shinobitron” for the idea/concept of this guy. Kup started as an Animated Optimus Prime. I removed the exhaust stacks on his forearms, made the truck roof attach on to his back in robot form, added rotation articulation to his hands. The head started as an Animated Jetfire head, completely resculpted the chin, mouth, and more. Also filled in many hollow areas and screw holes with Ave’s Fixit.Please check out the list of add-ons and modifications made to this custom.”

One of the coolest scenes in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen was when Devastator violently combined into the huge robot that tore apart the pyramids in Egypt.  Crefigz has taken this monster and applied his signature techniques to his Custom Transformers ROTF Devastator.  A very funny scene in the movie was when Agent Simmons was standing beneath the wrecking “balls” of Devastator and Crefigz even added this detail from the movie.  This is a great looking figure and you can see more photos over at eBay and check out Crefigz’s  Custom Transformers ROTF Devastator.

Custom Henkei Transformers Shockwave

Sabrina Ng is at it again with a fully loaded Custom Transformers Henkei Shockwave.  What I love about this figure is that it looks like the G1 classic figure in robot mode and in alternate mode he looks like a  futuristic battle station.  Let’s read more about this great custom:

“Up for grabs today is Henkei Shockwave. Armed to the teeth and more. He was also modified at his back with a small hook to prevent him from toppling. Those with the shockblast figure should know what I mean. Rare earth magnets were used for the weapon add-ons. Shockwave is able to pose freely with his weapons. As usual, Shockwave was protected with Anti-UV clear and will last you for a long time to come!”

Custom Lego Star Wars Darth Maul and Sith Starfighter

How does Darth Maul get around and perform his Sith duties?  Cbthd has answered that age old question with his Custom Lego Star Wars Darth Maul Starfighter.  A truly original concept, this vehicle is sleek and well scaled to the Darth Maul figure.  My one complaint about the Star Wars line in general is that the scale of the figures and vehicles are not realistic but cbthd has fixed this.  To place a bid on this great vehicle, head over to eBay and check out this Custom Lego Star Wars Darth Maul Starfighter.

G1 Masterpiece Grimlock Transformers Custom

Bratimus Customs has put the G1 back into the MP-08 Grimlock figure with his Custom Generation 1 Masterpiece Grimlock figure.  Staying true to the cartoon version of Grimlock, the colors that were used represent a simpler time where, as kids, we would be glued to the television watching the Autobots battle the Decepticons.  Let’s read more about what inspired Bratimus Customs to make this great homage to Grimlock:

“I remember watching every transformer episode when I was a kid and waiting for the Dinobots to make an appearance.  And when we decided to make our first TF custom, we decided on making him first.  We’ve always liked the yellow color scheme more than the diaclone version gold simply because it was more faithful to the cartoon character that we’ve always loved.   The yellow color scheme made him look more menacing.”

Nucleon Quest Super Convoy Transformers Custom

Frenzy.Rumble is always thinking of new ideas and his Custom Transformers Nucleon Quest Super Convoy is no exception.  I love the block look to the figure as it reminds me of the G1 classic figures.  The figure definitely has a presence to it and will add a great new character to your collection.  Here to tell you more about this great custom is Frenzy himself:

I’ve had this appendage kit for over a year now. It’s made by a great company called “Fans Project” and this past week, I thought of a great unique idea to run with. Nucleon Quest Super Convoy was the black (rare) version of Powermaster Prime. The Fans Project City Commander kit used here is original, not the knock off (important to note as the plastic quality is better in my opinion.) The Convoy figure (see slide show below) was a Classics Optimus Prime, I added articulated hands to him. The trailer comes apart and combines onto Convoy, forming the Super Convoy. I’ve added articulated hands, new chest, new face, weapons and rubber wheels to the Super Convoy. Please check out the list of add-ons and modifications made to this custom. All paints used in the process were lacquer and enamel, so the finish is very durable, and the colors will stay vibrant and true for many many years. (Keep in mind, this is a collectible, so don’t throw it around!)  I finished him off with several finishes of Testor’s clear coats, matte, semi-gloss, and gloss variations to keep the colors vibrant and true for years and years …always through an air brush to ensure thin, even perfect coats. I ensure the highest and most durable paint applications on all my customs. I exceed necessary preparation to these customs – Special plastic adhering primers, automotive grade lacquers and the best paints around to detail with.  As always, I am accepting VERY LIMITED custom commissions and/or requests. Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Megatron

Crefigz is back with a kick ass version of the leader of the Decepticons with his highly detailed Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Megatron.  This has to be one of the most detailed Megatrons I have seen thus far from the ROTF line.  If you look at the photo above, there is scoring, many levels of paint shading and he even added molding to Megatron’s head to achieve a more movie like look.  Pictures do tell a thousand words so head over to eBay and view the many photos he has over on his Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Megatron page.

Army of Two Elliot Salem and Tyson Rios Custom 3 3/4" Figures

Army of Two is a third person shooter video game developed by Electronic Arts, released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, focusing on two mercenaries fighting through war, political turmoil, and a conspiracy from 1993 to 2009.  Jin Saotome has done a fantastic job translating the characters that appear in the game into 3 3/4″ (1:18) scale figures with his Custom Army of Two Rios and Salem figures.  I am not sure if this is a coincidence or not but the figures from the game fit perfectly in the GI Joe Rise of Cobra line.  The figures are made with such detail and depth that it is hard to tell they are only 3 3/4″ tall.  They also look like they are plucked right from the game.  To place a bid and view more photos of Jin’s Custom Army of Two Rios and Salem figures, head over to eBay!

Custom Lego Star Wars Darth Vader

Growing up with watching the Star Wars movies in the order of 4, 5, and 6, one of my favorite parts of Return of the Jedi was getting to finally see Darth Vader’s face.  CAB Customs has captured the sullen look of an old battered Vader in small form with his Custom Lego Star Wars Darth Vader figure.   With all of the customs that CAB makes, he does not use any stickers and the figure is made like it was from the Lego factory.  One day, I hope he shares his secret but until then, head over to eBay and check out CAB’s Custom Lego Star Wars Darth Vader figure.

Sideways Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Figure

Sideways is a great looking Decepticon and although he is briefly in the movie, his purposed was served by providing a very cool action scene in the movie where Sideswipe leaps over him in pursuit and throws a blade into the front of his hood and slicing him completely in half when Sideswipe reconnects with the blade thus finishing him off.  Fallenkia has a great version of Sideways (before his demise) that is movie accurate and has a very cool feature, which are headlights that light up via a CR2032 Lithium button battery.  Be sure to check out more photos and place a bid on Fallenkia’s Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Sideways figure over on eBay!

Zarana Custom GI Joe 25th Anniversary Figure

Lance858a has one of the best custom GI Joe figures I have seen in a long time with his Custom GI Joe 25th Anniversary Zarana figure.  Paying homage to the classic style of the figure that came out in 1986, Lance858a has paid attention to the smallest of details.  Lets hear more about those details from the source:

“Notice the careful attention to detail such as the working knife holster, the sculpted torn jeans, the knee pads, the custom pointy boots, the gloves, the torn shirt, all of which match the vintage 1980′s character and figure 100%. She is a must have for any loving GI Joe collector.”

Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Ultra Magnus

Shockwave Revenge of the Fallen Custom

The Transformers Revenge of the Fallen line is getting one more Decepticon thanks to DarkCaveCustoms.  This Custom ROTF Shockwave figure is awesome and combines an updated look with the classic paint scheme of the G1 figure.  The ROTF Leader Class Megatron is the perfect base figure for Shockwave and DarkCaveCustoms added his skills as a customizer to bring this figure to life!

Custom Transformers Henkei Wheeljack

Decked out in his classic G1 red, green, and white, Sabrina Ng is continuing with her Henkei line with her Custom G1 Transformers Wheeljack figure.  Wheeljack is one of my favorite G1 customs to see redone and updated and Sabrina has given this one a showroom shine.  Let’s read more about how Sabrina made this great figure:

“Made with the add-on kit from Mastercollectables (Google it!), I went for a more Japanese Anime cell shaded look with this custom. You can see the effect of the shadings from the back flaps and weapons. Airbrushed, detailed, shaded, dry brushed, as well as protected by a special anti UV component, Wheeljack will last for a very long time. Do take note that due to the limited run of this add-on kit, this will be a one of a kind custom from me.”

Avatar AMP Mech Suit with Colonel Miles Quaritch

Frenzy.Rumble, who is best known for his Custom Transformers, has given the Avatar movie some attention with his Custom AMP Mech Suit with Colonel Miles Quaritch.  I had the opportunity to see the movie in IMAX 3D and I must say it was well worth it.  I am usually not into 3D movies but the effects were very well done (and not overdone).  One of the vehicles in the movie allowed the soldiers to venture out on the planet Pandora to do some major damage.  Let’s read more about how Frenzy.Rumble was inspired to do this vehicle:

“What an amazing film! On my way home from seeing this awesome movie, I decided to make a quick stop at a toy store and pick up some of the movie’s toys. I started the customization process by fixing some of the weaker articulation. I proceeded to add some battle damage, and created/added a strap for the gun. I used a durable special chrome lacquer paint for the AMP’s joints and gun parts.”

Custom Transformers ROTF Nemesis Prime

I hope everyone had a great Christmas!  This week, Zildjian has an awesome Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Nemesis Prime figure.  It is hard to believe that this used to be a ROTF Leader Class Optimus Prime figure but Zildjian has done such a great job with this figure.  This is one of the most detailed Nemesis Prime’s I have seen to date.  I love the red, gold, and silver detailing as it is very well done.  The figure is also wired with LED lights so you will have to head over to eBay and check out Zildjian’s Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Nemesis Prime figure to see him in all its glory.

T800 Custom Terminator Figure

jef_nkf pays a great homage to the now Governator of California with his Custom Terminator T800 figure.  Since Terminator Salvation came out, I have been watching the older Terminator movies and I must say that jef_nkf does an excellent job of capturing the look and feel of the machine.  I love the fine detailing in the face and it looks like he pay extra attention to the aspects that make this figure great.  For example, the bullet holes in the sweater add to the realism and the blood stains around them give the illusion that the figure is bleeding through the holes.  The boots and pants are custom made and he even added a custom shotgun.  To see more photos of this great figure, head over to eBay and check out jef_nkf’s Custom Terminator T800 figure.

Durge Custom Lego Star Wars Minifig

We first got a look at Durge in the in the first Clone Wars Animated Series back in 2003 and boy was he a force to be reckoned with.  FreshFromTheSewers has a scaled down version of this menace with his Custom Lego Star Wars Durge Minifig.  The detailing on this figure is excellent as it bears the markings of a bounty hunter and the shoulders are augmented to give him a meaner, more substantial look.  If you think the front looks great, head over to eBay and take a look at the detailing on the back of the figure.  While you are there, place a bid on FreshFromTheSewer’s Custom Lego Star Wars Durge Minifig.

Nova Custom Marvel Legends Figure

Custom DeCajon has a Custom Marvel Legends Nova figure that you will want to add to your collection.  What I really like about this figure is that each piece is proportional to each other, which makes a big difference when you are making a figure that has identical pieces on each half of the body.  The airbrushing is also done very well and is applied smoothly over the entire figure.  This is a great looking Nova figure so head over to eBay and check out Custom DeCajon’s Custom Marvel Legends Nova figure.

Waxer Boil and Numa Custom Lego Star Wars Minifigs

Straight from the Star Wars The Clone Wars animated series comes Rurisk’s Custom Lego Star Wars Waxer, Boil, and Numa minifigs.  If you remember from the series, Waxer and Boil find an orphaned little girl on the planted they are liberating from the Separatists.  They risk their lives to reunite little Numa with her family.  You can recreate this scene with this awesome custom lot!  Numa even comes with a little doll so head over to eBay and check out  Rurisk’s Custom Lego Star Wars Waxer, Boil, and Numa minifigs.

Hearts of Steel Optimus Prime Transformers Customs

This week, Frenzy.Rumble has a great pair of figures up with his Custom Transformers Hearts of Steel Optimus Prime and Nemesis Prime figures.  Here is more detail about these really rare figures:

“These customs are the AMAZING result of Monolith Productions. The company did a VERY short (discontinued) run of this Hearts of Steel Prime figure. These 2 are VERY unique and will not be reproduced. Each figure consists roughly of 100 resin cast parts, each and every part was hand smoothed, cut, sanded, screwed reinforced (you get the idea) I was lucky enough to land a set of these a few months ago, a friend of mine scooped them up because he was so amazed with the results. Due to personal issues, he has decided to put these up for auction…and YOU found it!  The Nemesis Prime variation was slightly modified, adding spikes to his alternate mode to give him a more grim and evil appearance.”

Runabout and Runamuck Custom Transformers Alternators

Xaviercal has a great duo for this week with his Custom Transformers Alerantors Runabout and Runamuck figures.  Using the Dodge Viper Sunstreaker as the base for the figure, he has made two G1 classic figures.  When I first looked at these figures, one thing that struck me was that the paint application is so smooth and even.  Top the figures off with their G1 style heads and you have an up to date Alternators version of two mischievous Decepticons.  To check out more photos of these great figures, head over to eBay and check out Xaviercal’s Custom Transformers Alerantors Runabout and Runamuck figures.

Custom Lego Super Mario Luigi Waluigi Wario Minifigs

If you are a fan of the old 8 Bit Nentendo NES system or the Wii, you are going to love these Custom Lego Super Mario Luigi Waluigi Wario Minifigs.  Constructed and painted to look like the video game characters, these minifigs are a must have for any Super Mario fan.

Commander Cody Custom Lego Star Wars Minifig

FriendLiang has one of the most memorable clone commanders from the Revenge of the Sith movie in small form with his Custom Lego Star Wars Commander Cody minifig.  What I love about this figure is that he used a small piece from  vehicle to mimic the holographic Order 66 directive from Darth Sidious.  FriendLiang makes awesome custom Minifigs so be sure to check out his Custom Lego Star Wars Commander Cody minifig and others over on eBay!

Superion Custom G1 Transformer Combiner

The great thing about customizers is that they are all unique and have thier own style and Sioce is no exception with his Custom G1 Transformers Superion figure.  One of my issues with the original G1 combiner was that the figure seemed to slim and skinny and Sioce has corrected this by making this figure the way it should have been produced.  While still retaining the G1 color scheme, Sioce has augmented this figure blades, weapons, and the use of the smaller jets to augment the arms, giving the figure a more grand appearance!  To check out more photos of this awesome combiner, head over to eBay and check out Sioce’s Custom G1 Transformers Superion figure.

Custom Lego Star Wars Commander Gree Minifig

goongalacowabunga84 has a great version of a very cool clone commander with his Custom Lego Star Wars Commander Gree minifig.  I like the black base for the figure as it goes really nicely with the camouflage armor for Gree.  The helmet is done very well and the choice of the shade of green is excellent!  If you are looking to add a Clone Commander to your ranks, head over to eBay and check out this Custom Lego Star Wars Commander Gree minifig.

AFC: Tell the fans of your work a little about yourself.

Lance858a: I’m a product of the 1980’s for sure; I believe in greed and capitalism.  I wish we could clone Ronald Reagan and elect him Emperor for life . . . with me as Secretary of Money & Power.

The 80’s was the best time to be a kid.  You had such wonderful toys and cartoons such as Robotech, Transformers, Smurfs, etc.  GI Joes will always be on top of my list of greatest things ever.  These toys were great because they required loads of imagination.  When playing with GI Joes, blankets on the ground became hills and caves, the area under the dining table became a giant redwood forest (until your parents tell you to get out from under there and stop trying to look up your cousin’s skirt), and a back yard dirt pit became a miniature Grand Canyon.

Today, my childhood religious devotion to greed and capitalism steered my life and career towards business.  I’m proud of my career and hope to continue long into the future but I found my professional work lacking in artistic creativity.

I’ve always been able to draw and paint well.  As a young adult, I turned to business after discovering how difficult it is to make the kind of living I wanted to make as an artist.  I chose money over happiness; I stand by my decision despite my soul crushing job and complete lack of money, jk.

I stumbled onto customizing GI Joes after years of unknowingly suffering from the lack of an artistic creative outlet.  I guess it was one of those moments of realizing what has been missing in your life all along.  The satisfaction I now get from customizing some of my favorite childhood characters and making them my very own is like finally finding a bathroom after holding it for days and you just had a giant breakfast burrito, it puts a smile on my face.

AFC: When did you start making customs?

Lance858a: It all started about a year ago when I stumbled onto a GI Joe 25th Anniversary DVD pack while walking through the toy section on my way out of a department store.  I caught a glimpse of Lady Jaye in the corner of my eye.  Upon closer examination while drooling, I verified that it was in fact the original Lady Jaye from the 1980’s cartoon series!  The sight of this figure sparked that funny feeling I got in my pants when I was a kid and I jumped on the DVD pack like a hobo on a ham sandwich.

AFC: How did you get started making customs?

After finding more GI Joe 25th Anniversary figures online, I realized that I hated the way some of the faces looked.  The Baroness looked like a raccoon on crack, Scarlett looked like a dude smoking the raccoon on crack, and Falcon looked constipated.  Don’t get me wrong, I think Hasbro has done a fantastic job bringing back our favorite toys.  I just wanted these characters to look like I remembered them.  After looking up images of the actual vintage toys from the 80’s, I then discovered that the way I remembered them was nothing like the way they actually looked (the vintage 1980’s figures actually looked horribly deformed, imagine an Ewok with human limbs, or Danny Devito).

At that point, I cursed Hasbro for whacking my beloved Baroness and Scarlett with an ugly tree branch.  Apparently, they still can’t seem to get it right as all the Rise of Cobra female figures look like dudes, and not the sexy dudes either, while all the dude characters looked exactly like the actors who portrayed them.  Dear Hasbro, you can’t get some of the most beautiful actress’s faces right, but you gave us exact replicas of the douche bag actors’ faces. No thanks.

So I started making my own Baroness, Scarlett, and Lady Jaye faces and discovered that I could do so much more than just faces.  That’s when I combined my two childhood interests together, GI Joes, and WWII.  I have no idea why I was so interested in WWII as a child, perhaps I’m a closet megalomaniac.  My first WWII Inspired custom was the Scarlett featured on this website.  I have abandoned her on ebay where she sold very well.  All of a sudden, everything came together, my need for an artistic creative outlet, my love for GI Joes, my interest in WWII, and most of all, my loving devotion to greed and capitalism.  I now customize for the love of it and periodically sell my customs on ebay just to make room for new projects and cost recovery.  Selling customs hasn’t made me a millionaire, but I can proudly boast of being a thousandaire, FINALLY!

AFC: How many customs do you work on at one time?

Lance858a: Up to 5.  You have to work on more than one at a time b/c these things need time for paint or sculpt to dry.  You paint one, set it down, and paint another.  The only draw back is, your interest in one figure may wane before you complete it.  My WWII inspired Zartan has been without legs for over 5 months.  The poor guy needs legs but, what’r’ya gonna do?

AFC: What customs you are most proud of?

Lance858a: Tough choice, I love all my customs but if I had to choose one that represents who I am, it would be my WWII Inspired Flint who was inspired by Band of Brothers, 101st Airborne.  This figure comes completed with hand painted Screaming Eagles unit badge.  Flint is my favorite character:

AFC: What is your favorite toy line to do customs for?

Lance858a: The only customs I’ve ever done were on GI Joes.

AFC: What customs do you have lined up for future projects?

Lance858a: WWII Zartan, Zarana are in progress.  WWII Normandy Invasion Duke and a new version of WWII Baroness.  Other than that, I have no idea.  Perhaps I will complete an entire WWII squad of Easy Company to go along with Flint.

AFC: If you had one piece of advice for other customizers out there, what would you say to them?

Lance858a: Don’t do WWII customs better than mine or else I will come after you and open an entire 12-pack of whoop-ass.  That’s my advice to you!  Jk.  I’d actually be extremity happy if my work inspires others.  My real advice is marry a rich girl so you can spend all day playing with toys.

Also, for beginner customizers, try starting small, do a simple repaint or swap body parts.  Do small projects, do them well, and learn as you go before getting into more ambitious projects.  You don’t want to spend a lot of money and try to tackle a huge project and get discouraged b/c you suck at it b/c it’s beyond your skill level.  Most of all, try not to listen to too much criticism.  Criticism is inevitable, and as an artist, expect to receive plenty of it.  Hopefully, there will be 10 accolades to every piece of criticism.

Bruticus Transformers G1 Custom

DarkCaveCustoms has the ultimate homage to the one of the greatest combiners in Transformers history with his Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Bruticus combiner.  One of the aspects of this customs that really stands out are the vibrant colors that were used and the fact that the figure stands a towering 21″ tall.  The plastic on the figure was painted to look like steel, which adds depth to the figure.  DarkCaveCustoms had an ingenious idea of using all of the extra parts that fuse the bots into Bruticus and turn them into a Mobile Battle Station, which you can take a look at over eBay by checking out this awesome Custom Transformers G1 Masterpiece Bruticus combiner.

Adding his “midis touch” to the commemorative edition G1 Insecticons, Frenzy.Rumble has his Custom Transformers G1 Insecticons up for sale this week.  I actually just came across my G1 Kickback, which is one of the few original Transformers I owned as a kid.  The rest I had to buy back from other people selling their collections on eBay but it is great to see customizers paying homage to the G1 classics.  Frenzy.Rumble always pours top quality into his customs so let’s get some insight into his mind and how he creates these masterpieces:

“One of the coolest things I’ve seen is the re-release of Generation 1 figures, specific to certain stores called the “Commemorative Edition.” These sets celebrate the Transformers 25 years. One of the coolest sets I read about was the Insecticons, who didn’t like these as a kid? I think it was the only complete set I owned. Remembering the limited articulation and factory paint applications, I thought it would be an awesome idea to go to town with these little bugs. Please read the detailed list below to hear about some of the modifications made to each Insecticon. All paints used in the process were lacquer and enamel, so the finish is very durable, and the colors will stay vibrant and true for many many years. (Keep in mind, this is a collectible, so don’t throw it around!)  I finished him off with several finishes of Testor’s clear coats, matte, semi-gloss, and gloss variations to keep the colors vibrant and true for years and years …always through an air brush to ensure thin, even perfect coats. I ensure the highest and most durable paint applications on all my customs. I exceed necessary preparation to these customs – Special plastic adhering primers, automotive grade lacquers and the best paints around to detail with.  As always, I am accepting VERY LIMITED custom commissions and/or requests. Captain Rex Snow Assault Custom Lego Star Wars Minifig

FriendLiang has captured one of my favorite Clone Wars episodes with his Captain Rex Snow Assault Custom Lego Star Wars Minifig.  When I first saw the Trespass episode, I was pleased to see that they had tied in some of the older Star Wars movies with an homage to the past.  I like the Rex’s helmet was crafted and the overall look of the figure captures how Captain Rex’s character appeared in the episode.  To place a bid on FriendLiang’s Captain Rex Snow Assault Custom Lego Star Wars Minifig, head over to eBay!

G1 Optimus Prime Revenge of the Fallen Custom

It has been a while since Sabrina Ng has listed a custom on eBay but her latest G1 Transformers Optimus Prime is well worth the wait.  Let’s get up speed on what Sabrina has been up to:

“I had been practicing with new techniques and perfecting existing ones. Officially introducing Starburst Metallics.  This breakthrough technique allows me to achieve a higher colour saturation as compared to conventional techniques. Trust me when I say that the custom looks way better in real life than what the pictures can say. Deeper and more virbrant hues regardless of the colour that I am using.

For this version of G1 Prime, I literally dropped his whole silver stripe concept and decided on giving him an updated look. I wanted Prime to look more majestic thus the gold chrome on the front of his truck. He was airbrushed, detailed, shaded, dry brushed, chromed, blue LED modded and protected by a special anti UV component.”

Venator Class Star Destroyer Lego Star Wars Custom

The Venator Class Star Destroyers are one of my favorite large vehicles from the Star Wars series.  Simple but massive in the design, these ships remind me of sea warfare as the ships must line up side by side to each other to deliver their crushing blows.  5striley5 has created this Custom Lego Star Wars Venator Class Star Destroyer that is over 2 feet long!  He also made a cool video so check it out below:

The last custom in the Ark Autobot collection is Sideswipe, created by the talented TonyzCustomz.  The classic red, white, and black color scheme is very reminiscent of the G1 figure and the red is spot on.  He also added a custom license place that says “Make a Wish,” which rounds out the collection of 11 Autobots in this unique collection.  There is less than 2 days left in the auction so head over to eBay and bid on this one of a find collection!

Big Hank has some great additions to his Custom Cliffjumper figure.  Not only is this figure painted in very high quality, but you will notice a certain gleam in his eye.  Here to tell you more about the figure is Big Hank himself:

“Cliffjumper was painted with Testors Model Master enamel paints. He comes complete with WORKING LEDs in his eyes, tail lights and head lights. All are controlled with small switches. Batteries which power these lights are easily replacable. Custom made “Make-A-Wish license plate.”

Cliffjumper is a great counterpart to the Bumblebee figure and for the lucky bidder, they will get a chance to own all 11 figures in one fantastic auction!

Ark Autobot Charity Auction for the Make a Wish Foundation Spotlight: Bumblebee (Article 9 of 11)

One thing that struck me about Payton34′s custom Bumblebee figure for the Ark Autobot collection for charity was the shade of yellow for Bumblebee, which matches exactly to the G1 figure from the 1980′s.  Here is more about how he painted this great figure:

“I used Model Master bright yellow spray enamel to give the outer shell a more accurate color scheme. After that, I used Testors Flat Black Noir Mat for the bumper/fender areas as well as the arms/fists; Testors Flat White Blanc Mat for the headlights; Testors Red Rouge for the tail lights. Finally, I used Liquid Leaf Silver Argent for the metallic areas and topped it all off with a layer of Model Master Ultra Gloss Clearcoat”

Mirage G1 Custom Transformers Figure

As part of the Ark Autobot collection for Charity, Thyvipera has custom painted a Transformers Classics Mirage to look more like the G1 figure from the 1980′s.  Given the popularity of NASCAR, I wonder if they made Mirage today, would it be a stock car?  According to Thyvipera, “Mirage was painted using Krylon Fusion paints and airbrushed with Tamiya and Testors. He is detailed using Testor’s enamels and clear coated for protection from damage and UV light.”  Thyvipera makes some awesome customs so be sure to check out this and other customs from him.

Jazz G1 Custom Transformers Figure

Ark Autobot Charity Auction for the Make a Wish Foundation Spotlight: Jazz (Article 4 of 11)

Next Autobot from the Ark Autobot charity auction is Jazz, which was designed and created by Encline Designs.  Talk about starting from scratch on this one.  Using a Transformers Universe Prowl figure as the base, he took a model kit and, as he called it, “re-shelled” the figure into Jazz.  Let’s read more about this figure and how it was made from Encline Designs himself:

“When I took on the responsibility to make a Jazz, I had no idea I
would do what I did. The problem with making a great Jazz figure is
the fact that there are not really any good TFs to make in to a Jazz.
So, after thinking hard and drinking a lot of rum (just kidding, I
didn’t think) I had the idea to do a “re-shell”. I wanted an updated
version of Jazz to fit in the the rest of the updated TFs in the
auction. I search a good while and found a 1/35 PORSCHE 911 GTI La
Mans slot car plastic model! I used a universe Prowl figure as the
skeleton and totally dismantled the figure to get it that way! I then
had to measure, cut, dremel, grind, glue, cut, drink, yell, dremel
some more until it all fell into place. After Jazz was constructed, I
base coated him using PPG automotive urethane white with a PURPLE
PASSION Pearl on top of that. I felt, as Jazz was a race car, he
should have his sponsors on the car. So I added all the artists names
that are a part of this auction along with the appropriate racing
stripes for Jazz!  He was clear coated with PPG Automotive urethane
clear coat for the best shine possible. The head is a custom head that
I got from a fellow artist. This custom here now has me hooked on re-
shelling and I look forward to the next ones!!”

Hound G1 Custom Transformers Figure

Ark Autobot Charity Auction for the Make a Wish Foundation Spotlight: Hound (Article 3 of 11)

I first came across Encline Designs back in 2008 and I was struck by the creativity and talent that this customer possessed.  As part of the Ark Autobot Charity Auction, Encline has made this Custom Transformers G1 Hound figure.  I really like the muddy look to the figure and the addition of the military decals.  As Encline stated, he is a former Jeep owner and his jeep was never showroom shine clean so he decided to dirty it up.  This is another awesome figure from the Ark Autobot collection for charity!

Encline Designs wanted to personally share his thoughts on the Custom G1 Hound that he made so let’s read what he has to say:

“I wanted to capture the essence of the G1 hound with he up to date
style of the new Universe figure. The mod I did to make the most
difference was I added a grill from a 1/35 Jeep Willy model kit. That
way it has the old grill and headlights of the Jeep we all know and
love. He was base coated with House of Kolor Kustom Kolor enamels and
I added military decals from the same 1/35 model kit. I airbrushed the
thighs with ALSA MIRROR CHROME like the G1 toy has also.To give a
little nod to the original Japanese Transformers, I decided it would
be cool to add the  “Convoy Commander”  to the hood. Also, being a
former Jeep owner and lover, when is a Jeep ever clean?! I airbrushed
mud and dirt splatter in the appropriate places.”

Custom Transformers G1 Wheeljack

Ark Autobot Charity Auction for the Make a Wish Foundation Spotlight: Wheeljack (Article 2 of 11)

The focus of today’s Ark Autobot collection is Wheeljack created by Big Hank.  Part of a massive collaboration effort with 7 other customizers, Big Hank has created this Wheeljack figure using Transformers Universe Sideswipe as the base.  An effect that is not Photoshop’d, which you can see above, is that he has working LED lights in his eyes and headlights, which are controlled by a small switch on his roof.  Like Sunstreaker, Wheeljack also has a custom license plate which says “Male a Wish.”  This is another awesome G1 Autobot from this massive collection for charity.

Today I am kicking off the first of the Ark Autobot Charity auction spotlight with one of my favorite G1 characters from the 1980′s.  TonyzCustomz, as part of a massive collaboration effort with 7 other customizers, has created a modern version of this Generation 1 classic figure in Sunstreaker.  Using the Transformers Universe Sideswipe as the base figure, TonyzCustomz has payed a nice homage to Sunstreaker and has even given him a personalized license plate that says “Make a Wish.”

Toxitron Animated Transformers Custom

Since the Transformers Animated line was short lived, there were many figures left on the table.  Jin Saotome has filled a void in the line with this Custom Transformers Animated Toxitron figure.  Although Toxitron was not meant to be an Animated figure (to my knowledge) but was a redeco of Laser Optimus Prime, Jin used the Animated Wreck Gar as the base for the figure and made some sweet modifications to bring this figure to life.  Let’s read more about this great figure from Jin himself:

“Toxic waste, hazardous materials, and deadly chemicals are Toxitron’s specialty! Based on the unreleased figure shown at Botcon (google Toxitron for pics) he’s been given the Animated treatment with the same pea soup green and garish purple features. While not actually in the TFA series Toxitron has still been painstakingly detailed by hand with shading, highlights, brilliant shades of color, and intricate detail that will really make him stand out in your Transformers Animated collection. You can swap out the Laser Prime-ish head for a newly designed Hazmat one with hoses for a different look. Pop off the dumpster lifts and attach his Toxo-blaster and buzzsaw so he can make a mess of the Autobots.”

Masterpiece Scourge Custom G1 Transformers Figure

JAF has outdone himself with his latest Custom Masterpiece Generation 1 Scourge figure.  This figure was originally designed for the “Create the Ultimate Scourge” challenge and here to tell you more about this figure is JAF himself:

“The goal was to create a cartoon accurate, manga styled Scourge with realistic details and mechanicals.  A bit of gothic/demon style was thrown in also. The figure is Masterpiece scale, meaning that it stands just about as tall as MP Starscream and is FULLY articulated.  Great effort went into providing interesting details and working joints and mechanicals. The hovercraft is almost entirely scratchbuilt from styrene and the robot body was created from an alternators sideswipe, Gundam Kamfer 1/100 scale action figure model kit, and more scratchbuilt parts. The hands were custom casted by TomServo.  The figure is fully transformable and is also fully articulated with over 25 joints on the robot alone. The wings are also posable in bot mode – reminiscent of the cartoon and manga artwork. Quality enamel paints were used to detail and finish this custom. Realistic weathering and staining has been applied in places and decals have been applied for further effect.”

I am really impressed with the accurateness of this figure, the colors, and painstaking detail that must have gone into making him.  The head is my favorite part of this custom as he had to recreate Scourge’s Foo Manchu, adding human characteristics to this massive robot.  The purpose of kitbashing is to obtain something that can’t be bought, to improve upon a figure, or simply to engage in a refreshing exercise of creativity and JAF has definitely let his creative side show and created some magnificent.  Lucky for the readers of this blog, JAF’s Custom Masterpiece Generation 1 Scourge figure is available for sale on eBay so head over there and place a bid!

Custom Clone Wars ARF Trooper

The ARF Troopers are specialized clone troopers that carry out short-range reconnaissance for Jedi Generals and Clone Commanders.  Ric.Sea.Jedi has captured the look and feel of these clones from the “Landing at Point Rain episode of the Clone Wars Animated Series with his Custom ARF Trooper figure.  The ARF Troopers are one of my favorite styles of clones as they remind me of the BARC Troopers and the Biker Scouts.  The camo on this figure is blended very well and here is your chance to own one of the clones that was just in an episode.  It will probably take Hasbro another year to make one of these figures (if they get around to it) so head over to eBay and place a bid on this Custom ARF Trooper figure.

Cobra Viper Glider Pilot Custom GI Joe Figure

Aside from the Micky Mouse Cobra Commander Figure that came out in the early releases of the GI Joe figures, the Cobra Viper Glider Pilot is another one of the quest for the holy grail figures that collectors pay top dollar for.  Lucky for you, Jharris229 has a Custom Cobra Viper Glider Glider Pilot and Glider up for sale and you would be hard pressed to tell that this is a custom as it looks so much like the original.  The bummer about the Viper Glider Pilots from the 1980′s is that most of the symbols have rubbed off but Jharris229 has a mint symbol on this puppy that is not a sticker!  There is less than 8 hours to go on this figure and glider so head over to eBay if you want to get a chance to own this piece of GI Joe history.

Cad Bane in Clone Trooper Disguise

Straight from the Clone Wars Animated Season 2 Rise of the Bounty Hunters comes FreshFromTheSewers’ Custom Lego Clone Wars Cad Bane in Clone Trooper disguise.  The Clones got hip to Bane’s plans when they discovered a green ooze in their escape shuttle, which turned out to be Bane’s blood.  This figure is a great adaptation from the cartoon although some green ooze blood would have been a great addition.  Like all of FreshFromTheSewers’ custom Lego Star Wars figure, they are of tremendous quality and it looks like he strives to keep up with the latest Star Wars plots so that fans can add to their collection.

Custom Transformers Universe Galvatron

Just like Unicron had assembled Galvatron from the left over Decepticons, Primo Customs has forged his Custom Transformers Universe G1 Galvatron figure from a “Henkei Megatron and 1 Classic Megatron.   Among other parts, he has been put together using the finest glues, sculpts and paints.”  This Galvatron ranks high on my list as one of the best I have seen.  The colors are dead on and the overall look and feel of the figure remind of the classic G1 character from the movie.  To place a bid on this great looking Custom Transformers Universe G1 Galvatron figure, head over to eBay!

Commander Keller Custom Lego Star Wars Minifig

Commander Keller was one of my favorite clones from the Star Wars 3 3/4″ line and I am happy to see him in minifig form.  Friendliang has created this Custom Lego Star Wars Commander Keller minifig and it is awesome!  The incorporation of the soft goods really makes this figure unique.  The armor design looks great and helmet art looks proportional.  Who doesn’t need another Clone Commander to lead the troops?  Head over to eBay and check out more photos of Custom Lego Star Wars Commander Keller minifig so you can see the cool art on the back of the cape.

Custom Toxic Zombie Jetfire

Halloween brings out another side in customers.  I am used to seeing the Marvel Legends figures done up Zombie style but this is the first Transformers figure I have seen done this way and I have to say I am liking it!  To commemorate Halloween 2009, Frenzy.Rumble has created this one of a kind Custom Toxic Zombie Transformers Jetfire figure.  What you are seeing in the photo above is not an optical illusion but a “special mix of paint and micoscopic beads to create the ‘toxic slime’ effect” that glows in the dark.  This figure looks awesome in robot mode as well so if you want to view more photos, head over to eBay and check out Frenzy.Rumble’s Custom Toxic Zombie Transformers Jetfire figure.

Scarlett Custom GI Joe 25th Anniversary World War 2 Figure

Besides finding killer customs to write about and feature everyday, another hobby of mine is learning all that I can about the brave soldiers who fought in World War 2.  Lance858a has combined both of my hobbies into one great figure with his Custom GI Joe 25th Anniversary Scarlett figure in World War 2 style garb.  From the hat, the colors, and the chevrons on the arm, a lot of thought was put into this figure to make it more of a period piece.  The hat is removable, which adds to the look and poseability of the figure.  If you want to check out more photos of Lance858a’s Custom GI Joe 25th Anniversary Scarlett figure, head over to eBay.  There you will find links to his profile on Hisstank and a great story about his love for GI Joe’s.

Red Alert Custom G1 Revenge of the Fallen Transformers Figure

If you think back, Red Alert was one of those classic G1 figures that you will always remember and associate with the carefree times of the 80′s.  Hunter Knight Customs has made a version of this figure from a ROTF Sideswipe figure with his Custom Generation 1 Red Alert Revenge of the Fallen figure.  With some of the figures in the ROTF line, I really liked the different ways that they moved around.  For example, the Sideswipe figure rolls around as if on Rollerblades and Demolisher was more like a destructive unicycle as he tore about the city.  I love the use of the Sideswipe mold here and the detail pays a nice homage to the Red Alert figure from the past.  Head over to eBay and check out more photos of Hunter Knight Customs’ Custom Generation 1 Red Alert Revenge of the Fallen figure.

Clone ARC Commander Lego Star Wars Custom

FreshFromTheSewers has one of the most unique and killer Lego Star Wars Clones I have seen with his Custom ARC Clone Commander Lego Star Wars Clone Trooper minifig.  The horns on the helmet are an interested addition to the figure.  I really like the blades on the forearms as those could come in quite handy for close combat.  Top it off with a chainsaw mounted laser rifle and you have a complete Separatist killing machine.  This Clone looks like he is ready for action but don’t wait too long, the auction only has less than 4 hours to go so head over to eBay and check out FreshFromTheSewers Custom ARC Clone Commander Lego Star Wars Clone Trooper minifig.

Wheeljack Custom G1 Transformers Figure

Wheeljack still remains one of my favorite Autobots from 80′s and Toyphilia has an amazing Custom G1 Transformers Wheeljack up for sale this week on eBay.  This is one of the best Wheeljack’s I have seen to date and it is highly detailed and very accurate to the classic style we all group up with.  The colors are spot on and this figure pays a great homage to the classic Transformers figure.  If you want to buy from a top notch customizer, head over to eBay and check out Toyphilia’s Custom G1 Transformers Wheeljack figure.

Jango Fett Custom Lego Star Wars Minifig

Custom Minifig Creations (CMC) has made the infamous Bounty Hunter that was the mold for the Clone Army with his Custom Lego Star Wars Jango Fett minifig.  I love the vibriant colors that CMC used on this figure.  I especially like the addition of the metallic paint, which adds a great touch to the figure and sets it apart from the others.  Let’s head more about the figure from CMC himself:

“Custom made using LEGO bricks to make the figure, the helmet has been custom painted with a metallic silver color, then the blue detail has been painted on just like the real LEGO Minifig if not better! More vibrant color hand painted! He comes as seen, with a custom sticker on the torso with accurate design, and two pistols as well just like the original figure! Rare purple color arms and legs finish him off with a brown belt!”

Defstar has created the mother of all G1 Transformers with his Custom Generation 1 Metroplex that was made from a Brave Maximus figure.  This bohemoth stands a towering 24″ tall and the figure pays a really nice homage to the G1 classic figure we loved as kids.  I am really impressed with Defstar’s ability to retain the look and feel of Metroplex on this big of a scale.  Another amazing aspect of this figure is that it transformers into an Autobot base:

2dtoys has a killer Arkham Asylum Batman Custom Marvel Legends figure up for sale on eBay this week.  The figure has a presence to it.  With the stern look and the stature of this Batman, this figure will look excellent in your display case.  Let’s hear more about this figure from 2dtoys:

What I love about BoskoesToys is that they are always striving to create new figures for toy lines and there latest Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Shockwave figure is no exception.  I agree with Boskoes when they said it is a shame that Shockwave did not make it into the movie but if it did, Hasbro would have made a terrible figure so we need people like Boskoes to introduce old characters that did not get any screen time.  The alternate mode is very interesting as they made this figure transform into a Power Station:

Chrome Crimson Guard Custom GI Joe Figure

FrogDNA has made some really great enhancements to the GI Joe 25th Anniversary line with his chrome work and detailed shading with his Custom Crimson Guard figure.  Striving to retain the classic nature of the cartoon, FrogDNA has used his stills to apply chrome and accents in all of the right places.  Let’s read more about how he achieved this look:

For this Crimson Guard I used Palisades’statue and the artwork from the blister as reference to bring to life this classic figure. There’s some airbrushed shading on his uniform and backpack, glossy paints on his helmet, boots and leather parts of his uniform and matt paints where was needed, to enhance the realistic look. You can actually see some reflections on his helmet! The gloss/matt effect is enhanced by several layers of clear coat, glossy and opaque as well.

Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Optimus Prime

The new Leader ROTF Class Optimus Prime figure as a great upgrade from the previous 2007 movie version but Zildjian has upped the stakes with his Custom Transformers ROTF Optimus Prime figure that possesses many great features and stunning detail.  The first thing that jumped out at me was the showroom finish paint aps that shows off Zildjian’s talent.  Attention to detail is a strong point for this custom so here are the finer points from Zildjian himself:

- High end House of Kolor Automotive metallic blue and red urethane paints.
- Alclad II mirror chrome finish on all robotic and chrome truck parts
- High quality vinyl decaled flames with hand painted silver trim.
- High end automotive clear coat finish.
- Multiple shades of Alclad silver, gunmetal, aluminum, copper and gold on all details
- Custom made gun with switch activated working high intensity white LEDs. LEDs and switch are hidden behind a sliding door on top of the gun. The batteries are replaceable.
- Each energy sword has switch activated dual red SMD LEDs and are removable from Prime’s forearms. They connect within Prime’s forearms with a rare earth magnet. They both also have easy access to the batteries to replace them.
- Upgraded chrome smoke stacks.
- Chrome side view mirrors.

Hit and Run Custom Marvel Legends GI Joe Figure

Hit and Run is another classic GI Joe figure worthy of replicating in 6″ scale and Starbuck_bg1980 has done just this with his Custom Marvel Legends Hit and Run figure.  This is a great looking figure with a ton of removable accessories.  One aspect of this figure that I like is that the camouflage on the figure is very well done and blends nicely with the face, which is how the classic figure from 1980′s was done.  I like that the colors are more military on this one as opposed to the brighter green used with the original Hit and Run figure.  To buy this item now, head over to eBay and check out this Custom Marvel Legends Hit and Run figure.

Cad bane Custom Lego Star Wars Minifig

FreshFromTheSewers has created one of the most feared bounty hunters to wreak havoc on the Clone Wars Animated scene with his Custom Lego Star Wars Cad Bane minifig.  Given center stage in Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2, Cad Bane has already caused major damage to the future of the Jedi Order.  With his signature blue skin and breathing aparatus, FreshFromTheSewers did an excellent job translating this figure into the Lego world.

Lion-O Thundercats Custom Marvel Legends Figure

BoskoesToys does many toy lines really well and their Custom Marvel Legends Thundercats Lion-O figure is no exception.  They have a knack for capturing the true spirit of the original Thundercats cartoon figures with a fresh, updated figure.  I have to agree with Boskoes when they say that this is their best recipe for a Lion-O figure they have made to date.  Some of my favorite parts of this custom include the Sword of Omens, which was Lion-O’s right hand weapon.  The hair and the face are spot on to the classic series character and the seriousness of the expression on his face give the figure a heroic personality.  If you want to know what other special character this figure comes with, head over to eBay and check out BoskoesToys’ Custom Marvel Legends Thundercats Lion-O figure.

Custom Lego Star Wars Kashyyyk Clone Trooper

The customizer with a cool name has a Custom Lego Star Wars Kashyyyk Clone Trooper minifig up this week that is very well done!  Goongalacowabunga84′s minifig is a great translation of the ROTS Kashyyyk Troopers.  I really like the concept of this figure as it is less boxy than the original BARC troopers, who look like Biker Scouts in camouflage.  The colors are also spot on and this figure is very well crafted overall.  To place a bid on this great Custom Lego Star Wars Kashyyyk Clone Trooper minifig, head over to eBay!

Shockwave Revenge of the Fallen Custom

DarkCaveCustoms has possibly one of the most creative uses of the Blackout figure I have seen to date with his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Shockwave figure.  Curiously absent in the last two Transformers movies, DarkCave has solved this problem by making one of his own.  What I like about this figure is that the G1 look and feel is still retained in the figure with the head sculpt and purple color.  This figure would fit in nicely with either Generation 1 or movie lines.  There are also subtle additions to the figure such as the chain gun that magnetically attaches.  DarkCave takes many detailed photos so be sure to check them out over at his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Shockwave eBay page.

HawkEye Marvel Legends Custom Figure

Straight from the Avengers comic series comes StlyeWarJoker’s Custom Marvel Legends Hawkeye figure.  I really like the head sculpt on this one, especially the eyes and the hair.  I like the way this figure deviates from the typical masked version around the eyes.  The weathering and detailing is also very well done!  Head over to eBay and check out more photos of StyleWarJoker’s Custom Marvel Legends Hawkeye figure.

Bruticus Custom G1 Transformers Combiner

Toyphilia is kickin it old school with a grand scale with his Custom Generation 1 Transformers Bruticus combiner.   Standing a towering 20″ tall, this figure is ready to do some serious damage.  Some of my favorite parts of this custom are the head and the colors used to detail the figure.  First, the head really sets this apart from other Bruticus figures I have seen because there is so much detail and depth to the face.  If you remember the G1 figure, the head was very boxy and Toyphilia did a really great job taking the look and feel to the next level.  The colors used on this figure remind me of the G1 classic figure while still retaining an updated vibe to it.  To place a bid on Toyphilia’s Custom Generation 1 Transformers Bruticus combiner, head over to eBay!

Custom Lego Star Wars Airborne Trooper Minifig

One of my favorite parts of Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith was when the Utapau Clone Troopers descended upon the battle for Utapau.  FriendLiang has created a minifig version with his Custom Lego Star Wars Airborne Trooper.  I really like the look of this figure as these are my favorite clones from the movies.  Head over to eBay and place a bid on this Custom Lego Star Wars Airborne Trooper minifig.

The Fallen Custom 13" Figure

“Using two voyager class Fallens I have sliced, diced and spliced them together to achieve almost double the size.”  This says it all and Encline Design’s Custom ROTF The Fallen figure is an engineering marvel.  In order to get this figure movie accurate, Encline had to sacrifice the ability to transform the figure, which collector’s will appreciate.  Here to describe (in great detail), is Encline himself starring in his own video showing off his Custom ROTF The Fallen figure:

Sideswipe Custom Revenge of the Fallen Transformers Figure

The Human Alliance line of the new Revenge of the Fallen is an interesting concept that pairs Voyager Class figures with very small figure that fit in the vehicles.  Xaviercal has switched up the paint scheme on his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Sideswipe figure from the silver version and has done a fantastic job applying a smooth, showroom metallic red finish.  Not only are the paint aps stunning, he also has added a custom pair of blades and fashioned new hands to better hold additional weapons.  The legs have also been modified to have more articulation to increase the poseability of the figure.  The detailing on the head is very intricate and you can view this and more of the photos by heading over to eBay and checking out Xaviercal’s Custom Revenge of the Fallen Sideswipe figure.

Custom District 9 Prawn Bust

ContradictionWear Customz has outdone himself with his latest District 9 Scratch Built Prawn Bust.  This bust is highly detailed and is very well executed.  The facial features are well in proportion and the way the bust was sculpted, the figure has much depth.  It is very hard to get eyes right but this is not issue for ContradictionWear as the way the eyes are shaded, the figure looks very life like and realistic.  He has posted a video that does more just than the photo above so please check it out:

Swerve Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Figure

Frenzy.Rumble has an amazing opportunity for the custom Transformer aficionado and is offering up a very limited figure that he has applied his talent and skills to with his Custom Transformers Swerve figure.  If you are not familiar with the figure, here is more about it from Wikipedia:

“A new mold that turns into a Chevrolet Aveo. Hasbro produced the toy at cost for Chevy as thanks for their successful partnership with the Movie franchise. It was designed for a promotional campaign in European markets, with the toys given away to people who took a test-drive of a real Chevy Aveo. The toys were never meant to be sold; a handful were left after the promotion had ended, and so they were shunted onto the website where these last few remainders very quickly sold out. This information was revealed by Hasbro executives at Botcon 2008. However, this figure is currently being given away at malls across the Greater Toronto Area as a promotion for GM’s new contest. Revenge of the Fallen Kickback Custom

It takes a keen eye and a ton of creativity to take a character who only got 3 minutes of airtime in a movie and turn him into an instant G1 classic figure.  Jin Saotome has created this Custom Revenge of the Fallen G1 Kickback out of a Sideways figure and the result is simply amazing.  From using the car windows as wings to the black, purple, and yellow color scheme, this figure can fit into either the G1 or the ROTF line with no problem at all!  Let’s read more about how Jin customized this one:

Custom Mass Device

Growing up watching the 80′s GI Joe, we were exposed to some of the coolest Cobra weapons and ZartanMan has made some much needed additions to the Cobra arsenal with his Custom Mass Device that lights up.  Seeing the need to bulk this weapon up, he added treads from the HISS tank and painstakingly detailed it to be as cartoon accurate as possible.  There are lights in the beam emitter and in each of the MASS element containers.  Brilliant job!

The Fallen Custom Transformers 2 Figure

The Fallen is still one of my favorite figures from the Transformers 2 movie and Frenzy.Rumble was worked his magic, skill, and expertise with this Custom Transformers ROTF The Fallen figure.  The painting technique looks like this figure is glowing molten red.  To see how Frenzy.Rumble achieves this look, here is a little more on the types of paint he uses:

“All paints used in the process were lacquer and enamel, so the finish is very durable, and the colors will stay vibrant and true for many many years. (Keep in mind, this is a collectible, so don’t throw it around!)  I finished him off with several finishes of Testor’s clear coats, matte, semi-gloss, and gloss variations to keep the colors vibrant and true for years and years. I ensure the highest and most durable paint applications on all my customs. I exceed necessary preparation to these customs – Special plastic adhering primers, automotive grade lacquers and the best paints around to detail with.”

Visas Mar Knights of the Old Republic 2 Custom

Based on her appearance in the Knights of the Old Republic 2 game, JackofTradze has created this excellent Custom Star Wars KOTOR 2 Visas Mar figure.   This figure is well done and even though you can’t see her eyes, this figure’s face is very striking and the figure is very well done as it stays true to the concept art.

Custom LEGO Star Wars Kashyyyk Heavy Trooper minifig

Rurisk has a figure that can beef up your Kashyyyk army with his Custom LEGO Star Wars Kashyyyk Heavy Trooper minifig.  This figure was made with custom decals (9th Assault Corps markings) and has a modified helmet and kama. The Clone also comes with a custom rifle.

Marvel Legends Hellion Custom

Cal’s Custom has an awesome Marvel Legends Hellion figure up this week.  This figure is very well done.  The shade of red that was used for the body color is a nice crimson red.  The head sculpt and paint job make the face look very realistic and also give the figure a great personality.  Cal’s makes some of the best Marvel Legends figures I have seen so head over to eBay and check more photos of his Marvel Legends Hellion figure!

Custom Blue Skin Zartan

GI Joe fans will remember from the 1980′s cartoon that when sunlight hit Zartan, he would turn as blue as a Smurf and Dutnam has captured this aspect of his chameleon character with his Custom 25th Anniversary Zartan figure, which you can find on eBay right now!

Custom Lego Star Wars Kai Hudorra

CAB Customs has created one of the Jedi who survived Order 66 in minifig form with his Custom Lego Star Wars Kai Hudorra figure.  For those unfamiliar with this Jedi, Wookiepedia decribes this Bothan as fighting the Separatists on Toola when Order 66 was issued. His fellow Jedi Master Simms was killed by their clone troopers, but Hudorra was able to flee with Simms’s Padawan, Noirah Na, to safety.  This highly detail minifig has a custom casted head and a custom casted hilt.

LK shows us the darker side of one of the greatest combiners in the G1 Transformers line with his Custom Nemesis Superion figure.  I like the evil twist on this one.  Here is LK to tell you more about this great piece:

Boskoes is bringing some G1 style to the Revenge of the Fallen line with his Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Galvatron figure.  I really love the direction they took this figure as the paint aps are in the right places and they were able to salvage a mediocre Hasbro figure and turn it into a great piece that will fit nicely with your Revenge of the Fallen line.  Let’s hear more from Boskoes on how Galvatron was created:

“Definitely one of my favorite pieces we’ve done. We started out with a ROTF Leader Class Megatron and disabled the sound function so he no longer says ” I am Megatron”. We kept all the light up functions, which can still be activated by either pulling down the switch in his chest or by moving his giant arm cannon. As you can see we gave him a different head, but it has the exact same articulation as the Original Megatron head (still moves up ‘n down and side to side- and eyes still light up). The only other mod we gave him is an exchangable arm which attaches easily, but fits on great and is very sturdy. Nothing we did here gets in the way of the original Transformation into Tank mode.

Lastly paint- we hit him with a mix of purple candy shell and a darker lightly metalic purple using raw silver for some well placed dings and scuffs. On his legs and treads we used a combo of flat and gloss grays, tinted primer, silvers coppers and rust. The list could go on for a bit, but I’ll just leave it saying, I really really like the paint on this one.”

Anemis007 has created an Autobot that we rarely see and he has made her in the scale worthy of a queen with his Custom Masterpiece Transformers Elita One figure.  For those not familiar with Elita One, let’s learn more about her from Wikipedia:

“Elita One is the female Autobot commander on Cybertron trying to liberate the planet from the corrupt grip of the Decepticon guardian of Cybertron, Shockwave. Advised by Alpha Trion, she led a group of female Autobot resistance fighters including Chromia, Firestar, and Moonracer.  Elita One possesses a rare and powerful weapon built within herself that can temporarily halt the flow of time within its radius of effect. However, the weapon drains her life force, so she only uses it when there is no other hope of victory. When used one of the few things that can save her life is a power transfer from Optimus Prime, who has a compatible power system to hers.”

Cobra Commander in GI Joe Armor

With all of the money in the world, Cobra Commander is taking things into his own hands and has contracted the talent of Jin Saotome to build him a suit of armor capable of opening a can of whoop ass on GI Joe.  This Custom Cobra Commander in GI Joe Armor is an excellent figure and very well executed.  I love the Gatling Gun on the right arm and the interchangeable claw…very cool!  Let’s read more and see how Jin describes this figure:

This Combat Armor suit with multiple attaching parts and can be posed in all sorts of battling positions. District 9 Prawn Mech Custom

I just saw District 9 last night and first of all, it was an amazing movie with a great story that was fast paced.  Hot on the heels of his last Mech, Jiveking7 has created another Custom Disctrict 9Prawn Mech figure that stands a towering 9″ tall.  For being a scratch built figure, this Mech is very well done and looks like the alien machine from the movie.  The Mech was an interesting twist to the movie but you will have to see District 9 to find out more.  To own a piece of the movie, head over to eBay and check out Jiveking’s Custom Disctrict 9Prawn Mech figure.

Alternity Megatron Custom

The Nissan Z is a sweet ride and Sabrina Ng has put her showroom shine on this Custom Transformers Alternity Megatron Binaltech figure.  The paint aps on the figure brings out the detail and gives Megatron the much needed personality.  The original figure looked really muted ad boring but Sabrina knows just where to place the right colors to make the figure pop.   This figure is the first in a long line of Alternators coming from Sabrina so be sure to head over to eBay and check out her Custom Transformers Alternity Megatron Binaltech figure because there are more great figures to come!

Custom Transformers Bumblebee Human Alliance Voyager Class Figure

We finally get a Voyager Class figure worthy of the figure and Metallichemist has done an excellent job making this Transformers Human Alliance Bumblebee look like it could belong in the movie.  What I found odd about the movie was that the robots look dirty and dingy but when they transform into vehicles, they have a squeaky clean showroom shine.  Metallichemist has done a great job with the detailing of this figure to give it depth and character.  Here is how he describes his process: “Work done on BUMBLEBEE includes a full extensive repaint on the body with custom metallic paint to give a sense of weight.The completed paint job is scratched and brushed to achieve a worn out look that is fitting for the determined lieutenant battling against the Decepticons.”  Head over to eBay to view more photos!

Alphamagnus has used the 2007 Transformers Movie Starscream figure and created a great set of G1 coneheads for your collecting pleasure with Custom Ramjet, Dirge, and Thrust Revenge of the Fallen seeker line.  If you are like any person who grew up in the 80′s, the seeker jets were the toys to own and what a great way to blend the classic style of the G1 Transformer with the newer Revenge of the Fallen movie.  Although I loved the concepts of the newer figures, they were always missing the classic feel and Alphamagnus has solved that issue.  If you want to see more photos, head over to eBay!

In honor of my son’s 5th birthday today, I am featuring one of his favorite Star Wars vehicles.  MeadMunch has created this Custom Battle Damaged AT TE as he was tired of the clean cartoon look to the vehicle.  The detailing is really nice on this AT TE and it looks like it has been through hell!  To see more photos and to place a bid, head over to eBay!

Omega Supreme has always been on those figures that was great in concept but the execution of the G1 figure was never quite right until now!  Sunok Studios has revived this legend with his Custom G1 Transformers Omega Supreme figure.   Here are some of the special features this figure is packed with:

• Fully custom face in the helmet with light up eyes and a visor that moves up and down

Being a military history aficionado, I was excited to see Build-A-Rama’s Custom Desert Hiss Tank resemble a North Africa campaign style vehicle.  First, the paint scheme and weathering on this Hiss Tank makes this piece feel like a period piece from the 1940′s.  I love the converted turret of the old Hiss Tank to a Trubble Bubble platform, which is a great concept!  Overall, this vehicle is very well executed and would fit very well in your 1980′s or current GI Joe collection.  If you want to view more photos of Build-A-Rama’s Custom Desert Hiss Tank, head over to eBay!

UniqueToyz has a movie accurate take one of the coolest figures in the Revenge of the Fallen line with his Custom ROTF Ravage figure.  Most of the Ravage’s I have seen so far have had a G1 flavor to them but I really like the attention to detail the UniqueToyz has taken with this figure.  This figure reminds me of a surreptitious Scorponok in the first Transformers Movie.  The paint scheme really shows off the finer points of the figure and gives Ravage depth and character.  Some of the G1 style customs of this figure often mute the details but the way this was painted makes them stand out.  To see more photos and to place a bid on UniqueToyz Custom Revenge of the Fallen Ravage figure, head over to eBay!

I have not seen the District 9 movie yet but I can’t wait to see it.  Jiveking7 has created this Custom Alien Mech Figure in honor of the movie.  This one is scratch built and fully poseable so head over to eBay and check out more photos of this great movie custom.

Aside from Demolisher obliterating Japan in the opening scene of the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, another high point in that sequence was from a dynamic duo inconspicuously disguised as an Ice Cream truck.  poppoonly111 has taken the pitiful figure that Hasbro produced and created a movie accurate figure with his Custom Mudflap and Skids Revenge of the Fallen figure.  Not only is this figure painstakingly painted, but the headlights illuminate for an extra effect.  There are several photos of poppoonly111′s Custom Mudflap and Skids Revenge of the Fallen figure over on eBay so check them out!

Zartan was one of my favorite characters from the GI Joe series back in the 1980′s and I am happy to see that ZartanMan has created this Custom GI Joe Resolute Zartan figure.  This figure is a kitbash of a few figures, including the GI Joe Rise of Cobra Flash, Resolute Duke legs, and a Zartan Head from the GI Joe 25th Anniversary collection.  This figure will fit in with all of the your other GI Joe Resolute figures so head over to eBay and check out more photos of ZartanMan’s Custom GI Joe Resolute Zartan figure.

I still really like the Clone Wars series and there are a few tried and true customizers out there still making figures.  Lilenobi brings us this Custom Clone Trooper Red figure, which is part of Commander Gree’s Elite Search and Rescue team.  This figure is well done and comes with carbon scoring and a removable helmet.  To see more photos, head over to eBay!

Although I did like the GI Joe Rise of Cobra movie, there was one aspect I felt was missing and it was the spirit of the 1980′s figures and GDX has captured that feeling with his Custom GI Joe Rise of Cobra Shock Trooper figure.  Inspired by what a Cobra Blue Shirt would like, this Shock Trooper is an amalgamation of several figures but I like it because it reminds me of the older figures.

One of my favorite military planes and also a great figure to add to the Revenge of the Fallen line, TK385 has brought this great concept of a figure to life with his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Jetfire figure.  Not only does this figure have an excellent paint job, but it also has a special feature that I have not seen anyone do before.  You can take a look at the effect below (which is not Photoshop):

In honor of the GI Joe movie, SpawnSauce Customs has created this Custom Marvel Legends Hooded Cobra Commander figure.  I have never seen Cobra Commander don a trench coat before (aside from the movie, of course), but I really like how this looks with the Hooded version of Cobra Commander.  There are a couple aspects of this custom that I really like.  First, the way the hood was made to look like it was flowing.  Second, the lapel of the trench coat looks as if it was designed with a King Cobra snake in mind as it flares out and the detailing on it looks like it.  To view more photos and to place a bid on SpawnSauce’s  Custom Marvel Legends Hooded Cobra Commander figure, head over to eBay!

One can never get tired of army building and Rurisk has created an instant troop builder for you with his Custom Lego Star Wars Omega Squad minifigs.  The Omega Squad was an elite clone commando unit, and was part of the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. The members of this unit were brought together after each of their respective squads were killed during action at Geonosis. Unlike most other commando squads, the Omegas wore specialized Night Ops Armor.  You can own this elite group by heading over to eBay and bidding on Rurisk’s Custom Lego Star Wars Omega Squad minifigs.

First, let me start off by saying that all of the proceeds from this auction go to will go 100% to a Singapore charity of choice by the TF.SG Fans site.  Sabrina Ng is based in Singapore so I have a treat for all of you rest of world fans out there who are not searching the eBay Singapore site.  She has listed this Custom Transformers G1 ROTF Ravage on the eBay Singapore site so I encourage everyone to bid this one up because it is for charity!  This custom possesses some aspects of the Generation 1 style with the hind leg mounted cannons and black and silver styling.  Sabrina makes the most amazing customs as her paint detailing is top notch so check out her Custom Transformers G1 ROTF Ravage figure here as you will not be able to see this if you search the regular ebay.com website.

I haven’t had inspiration of late to write about custom Star Wars figure but Stocos28 has given me reason with his Custom Sith Lord from the Old Republic video game.  Not only is this figure not being produced, Stocos28 got the idea for the figure from the Old Republic trailer.  My favorite part of this figure is the breathing apparatus is it is reminiscent of Darth Vader himself.  Who knows what this figure will be called but rest assured you can own it today by heading over to eBay and checking out this Custom Sith Lord figure.

I had the lucky opportunity to attend a preview showing of GI Joe The Rise of Cobra last night and I was say I was very impressed with the movie.  Not to give anything away, I thought Snake Eyes was a bad ass who can hold his own anywhere and with anyone.  That said, 2dtoys has paid homage to this legend with Custom Marvel Legends Snake Eyes figure.  I love the detailing on this figure as it brings out the contours with the shading and painting techniques, which is hard to accomplish on a black figure.  Here are more details about this figure from 2dtoys himself:

I have to admit, I was excited by the prospect of the Devastator figure when I heard about it but now seeing it in stores, I have to say I am not too impressed with it but Encline Designs has given me faith that this figure can look great with his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Devastator Supreme figure.  There are many mods to this figure ranging from body, electronics, and paint.  One of my favorite mods to the figure are the 2, 12 volt mini fans that can be installed inside his mouth to create the spinning vortex that tore everyone a new one!  I will post the video when Encline adds it to his listing but here is another awesome photo:

ContradictionWear Customs has brought one of the most treacherous villains to life with his Custom Scratch Built Hooded Cobra Commander bust.  It takes great skill and talent to replicate human features from scratch.  For example, the eyes on this bust are amazing and really bring the figure to life.  There are subtle features of this custom that make this great!  For example, if you look closely, you can see a raised eye brow.  ContraditionWear Custom has scratch built other busts such as Deadpool, Wolverine, and Venom, which you can check out by heading over to eBay and viewing his Custom Scratch Built Hooded Cobra Commander bust.

You don’t see this very often but when two customizers collaborate and put their skills together, there can only be a great result.  Sabrina Ng’s metallic paint skills and Thyvipera’s engineering join forces to create this Custom Transformers G1 Menasor Combiner.  This figure is stunning!  What I like about Sabrina and Thyvipera is they give credit where credit is due and they call out some great customizers as inspiration:

I’m honestly very tempted to even call this a Henkei Version of Menasor. But before I continue further, credit must be given to those that have embarked on similar projects before. Some of them include Frenzy_Rumble, Ptitvite, Malfunction, Crefigz among the many talented artists out there. This custom colloboration is the product of Thyvipera’s engineering as well as my metallic paint applications. Menasor consists of the 5 Stunticons. Each Stunticon has been lovingy customized to perfection. Without further ado, let me elaborate on some of the more interesting mods done to the figure.

There is something nostalgic about the G1 Devastator color scheme.  Maybe it is because I remember crying myself to sleep on the floor of my parents bedroom when I was a little kid because they would not take me the toy store to get one but that is beside the point.  It also could be because it was just a cool combiner that we all grew up with so I am going with that for now.  Xaviercal captured this feeling with his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Generation 1 Devastator figure.  I love the one unifying color scheme of this figure.  The original figure has way too many colors, which mutes the overall look but Xaviercal has managed to capture that 1980′s classic nature while applying a consistent color pallet that makes the individual parts stand out.

On the heals of Frenzy.Rumble’s ROTF Devastator comes his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Jolt figure.  What I love about Frenzy.Rumble’s creativity is that he is always thinking of ways to make things better beyond a paint app.  Here are some examples of this from his current figure:

- Head modified allowing it to have more range of movement
- Working dual “electro-whips” easily attach to back of figure with easy to access on/off buttons. The batteries are also easily changeable.
- Sparking light up chest – with transparent blue plastic; small button inside activates blinking light display (see video below for demonstration) Batteries are also accessible for change if ever needed.

Quantum-7 customs is adding a Fire Department to the GI Joe 25th Anniversary line with his Custom Inferno Brigade figures.  I love the concept of the figures and here to give you the back story about them is Quantum-7 himself:

After designing the fire proof armor that Barbecue wears to protect him from fire, CINDER was asked to lead his own specialized unit called the INFERNO BRIGADE. The team, consisting of, BLOW OUT who mans the Flame Retardant delivery system and  BREAK-THROUGH who specializes in demolitions. They work side by side with the Joes to help protect our world in the  fight against the evils of Cobra Commander and his henchmen. Together they make up the specialized team: INFERNO BRIGADE!!!

Back home in Ireland , Eoin McPatrick ( code name: CINDER ) was a volunteer fire fighter for 12 years. In those 12 years he lost two of his brotherens to the flames. Compelled to design a fire resistant suit for his fire fighter brothers to wear he studied for many years the dynamics of fire.  He intensely studied the characteristics of it but how and why it behaves like a living organism,  which materials it can consume and which ones it can’t. He was determined to stop anymore fires from claiming more of his friends lives. After several years of hard work and experiments he had a breakthrough….he designed a suit that was completly fire proof and protected the wearer from any ill effects from the heat and smoke fire produces. It went into immediate use and on its first day it saved a fellow fire fighters life….Eoin was hailed a hero and even the Mayor gave him recognition. It wasn’t very many days later that  General Hawk contacted him and requested that he design a newer, better, more manuverable suit for a top secret American Team called: GI JOE. Eoin accepted and within 2 months he had designed a better version of his fire proof suit. After succeeding they asked him to join the GI JOE team. They offererd him the Captain’s position in his own fire unit. They would be called the……. INFERNO BRIGADE!!!

It is great when customizers take figures in different directions and Dubz has done just this with his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Megatron version with rust.  I always wondered how the Autobots and Decepticons can go from dirty and greasy in robot mode to showroom shine in alternate mode?  This brings me to the rust version of Megatron that Dubz has made.  If I was sitting at the bottom of the Ocean waiting for a gang of Decepticons to liberate me from my watery resting place, I would look in very bad shape.  This version of Megatron is what he would look like if the Movie obeyed the laws of physics and chemistry.  Dubz has plenty of photos over at his auction page and check out his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Megatron figure.

Custom De Cajon brings out the dark side of Peter Parker with his Custom Marvel Legends Black Suit Spiderman figure.  The paint aps on this figure are really smooth, especially since there are nooks where paint can clump but Custom De Cajon smooth paint job gives this figure an overall great look.  I also love the look and how the eyes are done, which gives the figure much personality.  Check out Custom De Cajon’s Custom Marvel Legends Black Suit Spiderman figure over on eBay!

Saadtoys picks up where the 25th Anniversary line leaves off with his Custom GI Joe Cover Girl figure.  This figure brings back so many memories as I had her plow through Cobra’s army with a barrage of missiles.  This figure would make an excellent addition to your GI Joe 25th Anniversary figure collection!

MalsMasterpieces knows how to do the G1 combiners right with his Custom Generation 1 Devastator figure that stands a towering 16″ tall.  This figure is how it should be done as he tried to get as close to the classic figure as he could.  There is something unique about this figure but I will let him tell you about it:

“What’s the best way to prevent a painted custom from scratching and chipping?  Don’t use any paint! Featuring the color matched plastics DEVASTATOR.  I tried to use only pieces that matched the entire color scheme of the original classic from the 80’s.  However, the difficulty of creating such a figure includes finding and making sure the pieces matched as well as functioned properly.  There are a few pieces I had to paint because they did not come in alternative colors.  For example, Mixmaster is heavily modified and none of his parts came in green he is partially painted.  The only other pieces which received paint were the forearms, upper shins, knees, and devastator head.  Also, every cut and hole drilled had to be perfect because there was no hiding the fabrications with paint. The goal was to make it look so clean like it came right out of a transformers box.  So if your looking for a custom you can play with, without the fear of damaging the paint then this 1 of a kind custom might be the custom transformer you’ve been looking for.”

DarkCaveCustoms is one of the most creative customizers I have seen and he is not afraid to go bold on his work and his Custom Transformers Dark Knight Optimus Prime crossover figure is no exception.  Not only has he created a killer looking Batmobile, it also transforms into the leader of the Autobots.  Let’s hear more about his inspiration for making this great figure:

“As a HUGE Comic book hero fan, as well as a fan of Transformers, this one was a very fun project to do.  The Original figure is Transformers: Cybertron Leader Class Megatron, modded with hands that include a moving trigger finger and grouped fore fingers. The hands rotate for poseability.  The head from Cybertron Leader Class Optimus Prime is mounted on a ball joint and is fully poesable in a circular motion of tilt (forward, backward and a degree of tilt from left to right).  Embedded in his left forearm, shoulders, chain guns, boomerangs and feet are neonydium super magnets that attach all weapons included with this action figure custom.  The figure has been primed and painted with high quality paints, allowing him to fully transform with no damage to the paint if transformed properly.”

I know that fans are clamoring to get their hands on largest combiner to date in the Transformers Movie realm and Creg has this Custom Revenge of the Fallen Devastator up this week for your ogling pleasure.  One of the funniest parts of the movie was when Agent Simmons was underneath this behemoth looking up at his nether regions and as a bonus, Creg has included optional wrecking “balls” to make this combiner movie accurate but you will have to head over to eBay and check them out for yourself!

It is not often that I see great figures come up again but Chris Morada has another Custom ROTF Leader Class Fallen Prime up this week.  I originally wrote an article on this figure on June 25th so I am excited to see it again!  This is still one my favorite concept figures and I love the photo above as it looks like Optimus is about to open a can of whoop ass on some unsuspecting bots.

It always puzzled me that every Gunship that was made was lacking the side turret pods and toystorycollectables has created these Custom Lego Star Wars Republic Gunship Turrets.  This is a great improvement to the Gunships and they look slick mounted to the sides of these troop transports.

It was only a matter of time before this behemoth of a Transformers hit the scene and I am happy to see that one of my favorite customizers taking on this challenge.  If you follow Frenzy.Rumble on Twitter and put 2 and 2 together, you could have guessed that he was working this Custom Revenge of the Fallen Devastator Transformers figure.  When Devastator formed in the movie, it was one of the highlights for me and it is great to see that Frenzy.Rumble has give each of the six figures his undivided attention to make this figure the work of art that it is.  Some of my favorite parts of this custom are the added articulation in key areas and the ability for the vortex to stay open like in the movie.  Make the jump to eBay to see Frenzy.Rumble’s Custom Revenge of the Fallen Devastator Transformers figure in all its glory!

Rune Haako was a male Neimoidian and the Settlement Officer of the Trade Federation, as well as a lieutenant to Viceroy Nute Gunray in the years leading up to and through the end of the Clone Wars.  This week, CAB customs epitomizes this Trade Federation slime in a minifig with his Custom Lego Star Wars Rune Haako figure.  I love the way the face was drawn as it captures the personality of the character in the movie so well.

Kickin it old school, Xaviercal has given the Revenge of the Fallen Ratchet and Bumblebee a classic look with his Custom Revenge of the Fallen G1 Inferno and Ratchet figures.  Ratchet has been given a makeover with an Inferno red paint ap and styling while Bumblebee has been given a Red Alert transformation with trademark fire department logos and lights.  I love these types of crossovers and want to see more from the custom community so bring on the G1 and ROTF crossovers!  If you want to see more photos, head over to eBay and check out Xaviercal’s Custom Revenge of the Fallen G1 Inferno and Ratchet figures.

Jin Saotome is well known for his highly modded and detailed customs and his latest Custom Revenge of the Fallen Sideswipe is no exception.  The paint aps are not only amazing, but he added extra hoses and even scratch built his blades to make them more movie accurate.  This is one of the best Sideswipes I have seen to date from the ROTF line.  Here is more details from Jin himself:

“He’s been given the detail treatment folks, the paint job for my RotF customs is more complex than anything I’ve done before and includes airbrushed shading, weathered detail, blended shades of color, highlights, oil/grease splatter, metallic toning, and more. All this culminates to a super realistic look of a professional miniature model and Sideswipe is no exception here. Included are two new removable arm blades that look more like the ones he sports in the movie, cutting Sideways in half on screen. They are scratch built with sharp pointy tips so take care when attaching them. Various hoses and extra detailing has been added to Sideswipe including fixing his feet to look more movie accurate. He still stands just fine and you can adjust the heel-spurs in the back to allow him different sliding poses!”

Just when you thought there was no Decepitcon more ruthless than Megatron…think again?  Enter the supreme leader of the Decepticons and frogDNA has created a movie accurate version with his Custom ROTF The Fallen figure.  There are times where I love customizers to be creative and run with a custom and make it thier own but in this case, I welcome the quest to get this figure movie accurate as the toy line lacks this aspect from the get go.  Let’s take a peak at how frogDNA retooled his head:

“This is how The Fallen should look like! The first thing I did was get rid of that skinny chinny face he had and totally resculpted his “mouth” and chin, I also added a pair of those blue fins on the sided of his face, for an even more accurate look, I also retooled his forehead (that slicked back forehead he originally had was driving me nuts!) aaaand, just for the coolness of it, I added a ball jointed neck! Plus, I filled all the screw holes.”

Frenzy.Rumble’s Custom Revenge of the Fallen Power Up Optimus Prime is ending today in 4 hours!  This is the most viewed custom I have seen in a very long time.  It is about the break the 15K view mark so head over there and place a bid while you still can!

I have Ozzy’s Iron Man song running through my head while I am writing this but nonetheless, Christo’s Lego Custom Iron Man minifig is the center of this article.  I can’t believe that there are no decals on this figure as it is highly detailed and the colors work very well together.  This minifig looks mean and it can be yours by heading over to eBay and bidding on Lego Custom Iron Man minifig.

I have always been a fan of Encline Designs and he has an Optimus Prime up this week that is awesome!  His Custom Leader Class ROTF Optimus Prime is stunning.  I love the additions of the new stacks and the articulated hands as these subtle details really make the figure.  Encline is being shy with the photos for this one because he has a master plan to keep you coming back for more so be sure to check out his Custom Leader Class ROTF Optimus Prime figure often to see what he has added to the great leader of the Autobots.

I still am not tired of writing about the Revenge of the Fallen customs and this week, Sabrina Ng has a great figure with some special mods up for sale with her Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Ravage figure.  Not only does this figure have a paint finish that rivals some cars out there, but there are some special twists.  First, she added an LED to the eye (very cool feature) and if that is not enough, she even went as far as thinking how the light turns on and off.  Let me give you a hint, it has to do with the chain so head over to eBay and check out her Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Ravage figure to find out how it works!

I just checked out the Daily Deal on eBay and found something useful for you custmizers out there!  If you are looking for an Airbrush Kit, check out Testors Kit they have over on eBay!  If you don’t know about the Daily Deal, it is awesome!  They have lots of products that are at very deep discounts!

I will never get tired of writing about the Revenge of the Fallen customs when I see great work coming out of so many people.  This week, Dubz gives a proper paint job and styling to a very cool Autobot with his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Sideswipe figure.  One thing I love is that when customizers get their hands on these figures, they turn them into movie accurate works of art.  Here is an example from Dubz himself:

“For the robot mode i wanted to add a very detailed but dirty looking-battle worn appearance just like in the movie. Various shades of silver were drybrushed on, then i added the weathering with shades of black, gun metal and light rust and oil stains for a super-realistic effect. The robot mode parts also feature tiny chips and light textures to simulate worn metal.”

One of my favorite parts of this custom is the head because you can see all of the detail.  One of my pet peeves with the ROTF toys as they are is that so much of the detail is lost when the factory paints them just one color.  Dubz has many more photos so check out his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Sideswipe figure.

Malsmasterpieces has created a behemoth of a combiner from the 80′s with his Custom G1 Transformers Menasor figure.  This beast stands a towering 16″ tall and one of his goals with creating this figure was to make this feel more G1 than the original:

I don’t have to tell you who this character is, some of us had him growing up or if you were like me, we wish we did. Menasor was one of the first combiners of the animated series back in 1984. Unfortunately 25 years later, all takara Hasbro could give us was a repainted classics mirage and called it dragstrip from the stunticons. I have now faced the fact that Hasbro/takara will never release figures respectable enough to call menasor. So I decided its time to bring back the rest of the Stunticons and bring Menasor to life and create this custom one of a kind transforming sculpture. My masterpiece of a combiner, not because of its closeness to g1 specs but because I used pieces of the transformers masterpiece, classics, and even generation 1 line to create him. He is made up of some die cast pieces, more articulation points that ratchet and click durably like figures from masterpiece line. A lot of planning and engineering went into this figure and only the finest and most durable enamels went into painting this figure to match the color scheme of the original back in the 80’s. If you have the original one back from the 80’s your going to love this one. Twice as big, twice as cool, and a million times more rare than the original. Again the goal was to be more G1 than the G1 versions from the 80’s

Xaviercal is kickin’ it G1 style with his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Megatron in Generation 1 color scheme.  The way he painted this figure makes the parts stand out.  For example, the tank treads and the gun are so muted in the original figure because everything is the same color.  By adding black, red, and gold accents to the figure, it helps to bring out the classic nature of the figure and remind us of the Megatron that we grew up with.  The red accents really define the sections of the figure and call attention to the arms and legs.  You will also notice the absence of the toothpick arm on the original figure as he gave Megatron two new arms, which go well with the figure and make Megatron more menacing as he looked kind of pathetic with a thin arm.  If you want to check out more photos, head over to eBay and see Xaviercal’s Custom Revenge of the Fallen Megatron figure.

One of my favorite clone troopers from the Revenge of the Sith movie and Jebstuff has epitomized these troopers with his Custom Lego Star Wars Kayshyyyk Clone troopers.  I like the deviation from the BARC trooper mold as we need more of these troopers in different types of fatigues.  These figures would make great additions to your Clone Army!  Jebstuff has more custom Lego Star Wars clones over on eBay so go check them out!

Resurrected from the depths of the Laurentian Abyss, Crefigz has an excellent version of the leader of the Decepticons with his Custom ROTF Megatron figure.  I am very impressed with the way this figure has been painted.  For example, he has made the metal look worn and warped, like Megatron has been sitting on the bottom of the ocean waiting for someone to rekindle his spark.  There are some great additions and mods to this figure, which include a crystal added to Megatron’s blaster and ball joint for his hand.  Crefigz is excellent at layering on the paint to make the figure look as realistic as possible so head over to eBay and check out more photos of his Custom ROTF Megatron figure.

Another high point on the Revenge of the Fallen movie was when Sam used the Matrix to bring Optimus back to life and Jetfire sacrificed himself for spare parts so that Prime could fend off and defeat the The Fallen.  Frenzy.Rumble has captured this aspect of the movie in super high detail with his Custom Revenge of the Fallen Power Up Optimus Prime figure, which uses Leader Class Prime and Jetfire figures.  Another favorite figure for me was Jetfire and although I have not spotted any figures in retail stores, I will be keeping my eyes out that one as it looks cool.  The one thing I really love about all of Frenzy.Rumble’s is that he makes excellent choices with repsect to paint apps and modifications.  It seems like the mods are all in the right places and the paint aps are bullet proof.  I can’t possibly write about all of the amazing aspects of this figure so here is Frenzy.Rumble to tell you more about it:

Optimus Prime Modifications and Details
- “Truck Mode” flames were meticulously “traced” on computer using oversized images of the real truck, printed and sized accordingly, then processed and plotted onto high performance vinyl creating perfect stencils. The flames were then air brushed and hand pin-striped.
- Real chrome paint on front grill, bumper, exhausts, rims and other areas. Protected with industrial strength clear coat via air brush.
- Extra accessories fitted; chrome rear view mirrors and exhaust pipes, red and blue wiring on the back of the cab.
- Fully articulated hands with rotation at the wrists (allowing him to hold bonus items to be seen later….)
- Ultra shiny and durable lacquer paints used.

Jetfire Modifications and Details
- Meticulously detailed, every wire, gear, detail…. painted to look like the real deal.
- 5mm ultra-bright blue LED lights added to his jet turbines which are activated through reliable switches.
- Arm “kibble” modified so that it is removable, giving his robot form a much more accurate appearance.
- Articulated fingers and hands with rotation at the wrists. The ”out of box” Jetfire has “fused fingers”
- Ultra matte finish on his alt mode ; SR-71 Blackbird.
- Modified head allowing him to look right and left

Power-Up Prime
- Added jet wings to his lower legs and chest
- Fixed the shoulder pads to better resemble the on-screen and concept art.
- Added parts to his feet to give a more accurate look to the on-screen and concept art.
- Created “alternate” transformation sequence to really make him one-of-kind and more movie accurate.

Demolisher had to been one of my favorite Decepticons from the Revenge of the Fallen movie and Tonyz Customs has paid a great homage to this devil of destruction.  His Custom Revenge of the Fallen Demolisher is like he was seen in the movie thanks to Tonyz great work.  I love that the robot has no legs and just rolls around obliterating everything in his way.  Tony has done an excellent job with this figure and has given him a dingy look.  Not only has he given him the movie look he deserved, he also did some needed modifications so let’s hear it from him:

Having just watched 2001: A Space Odyssey and 2010: The Year We Made Contact, I was drawn to NTT figure because of it’s cosmic nature and how well NTT translated the concept art into reality.  His Custom Marvel Legends Icon Eternity figure is well put together and captures the comic version of the figure very well.  I actually like this version much better as the pictures I have seen of the concept art drown out the face and in NTT translation, the face stands out much more, which makes it more interesting.  This is a 12″ figure and it looks like a piece of cosmic art so head over to eBay and check out more photos of NTT’s Custom Marvel Legends Icon Eternity figure.

Dubz has an interesting twist on an old friend with his Custom Transformers Movie Style G2 Optimus Prime.  I never liked the G2 Optimus Prime but Dubz has given this figure a new look and a new life that is based on the Transformers Movie version.  I like the flame job he did and that he carried the paint ap all the way through the trailer.  This is a great time to get Transformers customs as everyone and their mother has come out of the woodwork for the launch of the Revenge of the Fallen movie so head over to eBay and check out Dubz’  Custom Transformers Movie Style G2 Optimus Prime.

One of the high points in the Revenge of the Fallen Transformers movie was when Jetfire sacrificed himself to lend a hand to Optimus Prime’s fight against The Fallen and the Decepticons.  His Custom Optims Prime Jetfire Combiner figure brings to life the newly resurrected Optimus Prime and he does a great job integrating the SR71 Blackbird parts into this Prime figure.  I thought this was a cool concept and this figure is nicely executed.  For more, head over to eBay!

Arguably the funniest Autobot duo to debut, Frenzy.Rumble has these two protector comedians up this week with his Custom Mudflap and Skidz Revenge of the Fallen custom figures.  Here are some of the modifications and highlights you can expect for these figures:

“For Skids, I made some changes to the way his transformation works. His head now moves more freely while in robot mode, allowing full articulation. I’ve also added a major overhaul to the alt (car) mode, to better represent the actual car. This included some work on the front lights, running boards, and tail lights. Mudflap’s shoulder have been modified to better position his arms. His head was also “fixed up” a bit to allow more articulation, his car mode was also completely revamped to appear more like the real deal.”

I was very happy to see that Omega Supreme was given some air time in the Transformers Animated series.  Anemis007 has brought this icon to life with his Custom Transformers Animated Series Omega Supreme figure.  The colors really capture the G1 nature of the figure and the scale is a great size, standing 13.5 inches tall.  I am not sure if they will be making one of these figures or not but you can own it now by heading over to eBay!

I promissed myself to lay off the Optimus Prime figures for a while but I could not resist letting people know about this one!  Chris Morada has one of the most unique Revenge of the Fallen figures up this week with his Custom The Fallen Optimus Prime figure.  The flames on this figure are amazing and the paint aps look like a brand new car with a showroom finish.  There are so many aspects of this custom that leave me without words.  First, the flames looking like they are searing and burning through the figure.  The chromed out parts are great and the smoke stacks really make a great addition to the figure.  I am torn with respect to whether this figure looks better in robot mode or truck mode so I will let you decide:

Encline Designs has another excellent Revenge of the Fallen custom up this week and he has added something special to his Custom ROTF Ravage figure…can you guess what it is?  If you can’t guess what it is it is staring you right in the face and no it is not a Photoshop effect.  I won’t go as far as calling Encline a doctor but he did conduct some brain surgery on Ravage and gave him an LED light, which is a very cool aspect of this figure.  Here are some of the other mods he did:

“Added one red LED in the head. The batteries and off/on switch are housed in the torso.  Added a socket at the neck and base of the skull. Made a double sided ball joint and put in the neck. Now RAVEGE has more neck articulation than ever!  Added teeth and filled in the screw hole on the side of the head”

I have a feeling I will writing about Revenge of the Fallen customs for many months but that is ok with me because I have been waiting so long for these figures to hit the stores.  Sabrina Ng has this Custom ROTF Transformers Sideswipe figure and it is chromed out and looking slick.  To differentiate the parts in robot mode, she added some blue accents, which give the figure a more interesting look.  To view more photos, head over to eBay!

Let the Revenge of the Fallen customs flow!  As the US release date nears, there are many awesome customs that have come out by talented people like Encline Designs.  His Custom Battle Damaged Optimus Prime is no exception and really shows off Encline’s talent and creativity.  I can’t wait to see the movie as I am guessing the Optimus could like the custom featured in this article but if you want to see more photos of this great figure and all of the detailing, head over to eBay!

Soundwave’s dog has come a long way since the little puppy we saw wreak havoc on the Autobots in the 80′s.  This week, Frenzy.Rumble applies his magic and talent and created this Custom Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Ravage figure.  The paint aps on this figure look like metal and the detailing brings out the intricate robotic parts of this great figure.  To read more about the quality that Frenzy.Rumble pours into each figure, check out his process below:

Enter…RAVAGE, a minion of Soundwave and Decepticon spy. All paints used in the process were 100% enamel, so the finish is very durable, and the colors will stay vibrant and true for many many years. (Keep in mind, this is a collectible, so don’t throw it around!)  I finished him off with several finishes of Testor’s clear coats, matte, semi-gloss, and gloss variations to keep the colors vibrant and true for years and years. I ensure the highest and most durable paint applications on all my customs. Xaviercal has taken a Masterpiece Prime figure and turned him into a badass with his Custom Masterpiece Scale Nemesis Prime Transformers figure.  This figure is packing heat and even has custom smokestacks to add that extra level of detail and villainy.  Let’s read more about this figure from Xaviercal himself:

“Inspired by the truck in the movie Deathrace the tanker of Nemesis has HUGE cannon on the back and double mini guns on the front. Nemesis has a new pair of smokestacks to make him look more evil looking. But that’s not all ,even nemesis has to take a break sometime!!! So he has a throne made from an alternator parts and armada prime, some random parts and a wheel from a RC truck and to go with the throne nemesis has a staff from the heads of fallen transformers including Megatron, Shockwave, Optimus prime, and a movie Starscream. All of these are custom painted and detailed”

The thrown is a cool effect and I like the black paint on the oil tanker.  I was never a fan of a chrome tanker so this is a great change.  The figure looks awesome in truck mode towing the suped up tanker so if you want to see that mode, head over to eBay and check out Xaviercal’s Custom Masterpiece Scale Nemesis Prime Transformers figure.

Encline Designs has a wicked twist on Optimus Prime with his Custom Leader Class ROTF Nemesis Prime figure.  If there was ever a figure so dark and twisted, it would be this one!  Not only does this figure pack enough heat to melt anyone it his path, but the facial expression Encline chose for this figure gives it the evil personality it was made for.  I enjoy reading how customizers describe their creations so let’s read how Encline tells his story:

This one is the direct disciple of The Fallen. Empowered by the fire inside, he hunts. Nemesis hunts for any Cybertronian that did not side with The Fallen when he chose in his deepest of processors to gain power. Being the most hot headed of three prototforms created together, he hunts with out mercy. Nemesis has made his way to earth. Sensing a new fear of a great warrior, he takes his form. The hunt will begin by putting fear in the heart of this brave leader by killing off his soldiers one by one. Under estimating the strength and pure drive to protect that Optimus Prime has, Nemesis meets his match sooner than expected. Loving the trill of hand to hand combat, Nemesis drops his shoulder cannon and wants to remove Prime’s head for his trophies.

If I was to dream of a better Serpentor, I would envision 2dtoys’ version with this Custom Marvel Legends GI Joe Serpentor figure.  I absolutely love this figure!  The colors are dead on and the scalloped look that 2dtoys was able to give this figure is how he appeared in the cartoon.  The snakes coming out of the figure give it a great effect and a cool look.  The sculpting is awesome and everything is symmetrical.  This is the best Serpentor figure I have seen to date so head over to eBay and check out this great Custom Marvel Legends GI Joe Serpentor figure.

Frenzy.Rumble continues to amaze me with his talent of interpreting the classic Generation 1 Transformers figures and coming up with original works of art.  His latest collaboration with JAF has yielded these 5 Custom G1 Dinobots and I have to say that this entire set is a site for sore eyes.  I really love the yellows, grays, and reds on these figures and Frenzy.Rumble and JAF have payed a great homage to the the G1 cartoon representation of the figures.  Here is some more detail on the figures:

Grimlock – Added articulation in his shoulders, elbows, waist, head, knees hips and fists
Slag – Added articulation in his head (on ball joint!), shoulders, elbows, knees, hips and tail

Combining two of the greatest toy lines every imagined, Toyphilia has created this Custom GI Joe vs Transformers Thundercracker Cobra Rattler that literally looks like he ripped it straight out of the comics.  As he states, “the primary modifications include moving the A-10′s fuselage-mounted engines to the rear wings (in order to facilitate a VTOL system in which the Rattler’s wings pivoted on their axis to redirect engine exhaust downwards), a nose-mounted anti-tank Gatling gun, and four large anti-tank missile launchers.”  This figure looks awesome and stays very true to the comic representation, which you can take a look at over at eBay while you are checking out Toyphilia’s Custom GI Joe vs Transformers Thundercracker Cobra Rattler.

It is unfortunate circumstances that collectors must sell their most prized possessions and that is why it pains me to write this article as the owner of this custom has fallen on some hard times.  This Custom Transformers Masterpiece Mirage figure is simply amazing.  Fashioned after his G1 counterpart, this Mirage was kitbash of several different Alternators and end result was a classic figure that will fit nicely with the Masterpiece line.  To learn more about this great custom, let’s hear from the seller, gclarks01:

“This custom was made by master customizer JAF.  It is a real Indy car Leiger Gitanes model kit altyered to Transform with several Alternator donors as Parts – Skids, Prime, and Sideswipe. Taking Jetfire back to his roots, Boggs6ft7 brings us this awesome Jetfire VF-1S Custom Macross Transformers Robotech figure.  From the skull and crossbones to the classic yellow and black paint aps, this figure captures the essence of the original while still retaining the feel of a Jetfire figure.  I love the weathering job that was done and the detailing is just enough for this figure.  I took a look at the original Marcross VF-1S figure and that is loaded with extra detailing, which is a little overkill in my opinion.  If you want an original custom that you will never see anywhere else, head over to eBay and check out Boggs6ft7′s Jetfire VF-1S Custom Macross Transformers Robotech figure.

The episode, Trespass, was one of my favorite episodes in the Clone Wars animated series and FreshFromTheSewers has made a very cool Custom Lego Star Wars Captain Rex in snow fatigues as he appeared in that episode.  He really did a great job translating how he appeared on screen to this figure with the extended helmet and overall design of the fatigues.

Megatron kind of got the shaft in the 2007 Transformers movie with getting a cube shoved in his chest and getting dumped liked yesterdays garbage in the Laurentian Abyss but Encline Designs has resurrected the leader of the Decepticons with his Custom Leader Class Revenge of the Fallen Megatron figure.  This figure has been enhanced, sculpted, and sanded from its original version and I have to say it is such an improvement.  To read more about how he achieved this effect, let’s hear it from Encline Designs himself:

“As you can tell, I put a ton of work into him fixing the arms. I there are now ratchet joints at both elbows with hands, claws, mandables..(whatever they are) on ball joints at the wrists!!!! The DEATH ARM has 3 options!!!!! You can have the regular arm, attach the gun, or remove the arm all together and snap  the DEATH ARM into place. Now with an elbow. Yes, the missile still fires.  I sanded down Megatron with 150 grit to give him some texture. He was airbrushed with HOUSE OF KOLOR gunmetal enamel base. I Shadowed with transparent black and highlighted with ALCAD II chrome(that is ground up aluminum). I then did some brush work to add the rust and weathering.  He can still be transformed!”

Rurisk has a cool twist on the Galactic Marine with his Custom Lego Star Wars Galactic Marine minifig.  In Revenge of the Sith, the Galactic Marines helped take down Ki Adi Mundi on the Mygeeto Bridge but Rurisk has made more of a special ops marine that mirrors the Shadow Troopers.  You can’t really see it in the photo but this trooper has a fabric Kama, which helps soften the figure.  If you are new to AFC, go check out the Custom Lego Star Wars section for more great minifigs and vehicles.

DarkCaveCustoms has a very unique custom up this week and I am very happy to feature his Botcon 2009 contestant piece.  This Custom Transformers Redemption Prime is a truly one of a kind piece and it looks like DarkCave has poured so much imagination and skill to getting all of the pieces he needed to make this custom a work of art.  The alternate mode for this figure is a giant battle hawk and it looks like all of the parts fit great together.  This is his last figure in his Prime Directive custom line so go check out all of the detailed photos of his Custom Transformers Redemption Prime figure.

The Fallen from the new Transformers Revenge of the Fallen line has to be one of my favorite looking toys to date for the Movie line.  Frenzy.Rumble has taken the stock Hasbro figure and turned it into a work of art.  His Custom Transformers ROTF ‘The Fallen’ figure is actually the second figure he has done for the line (I think he forgot he did an ROTF Soundwave in December 2008).  I love the finish on the figure as it makes the orange accents pop on the figure and appear that the colors are running through the figure.  Let’s hear more about this figure from Frenzy.Rumble himself:

Let the Revenge of the Fallen customs begin!  There are a couple things that I love when a new movie comes out!  First, we get to see a whole new line of toys from the creators at the toy companies and, second, we get to see the awesome customs from creative people like Xaviercal with his Custom G1 Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Tracks figure.  Retaining the classic blue and the firebird symbol on the hood, this figure, made from a ROTF Sideswipe, is a great canvas for Tracks.  I am looking forward to the many ROTF customs to come and I have a feeling that there will be too many to keep up with so make sure you also check out the Transformers section as well to keep up with the latest.

K&L Customs has brought to life a character from the legendary X-MEN series with their Custom Marvel Legends Mystique figure.  The detailing on this figure is excellent and I love the way they created the eyes on this figure as lack of pupils mirrors the concept art and styling of the comics.  The skull in the center of her head adds a great touch!  The accessories for this figure are killer and K&L Customs are awesome customizers so head over to eBay and check out their latest customs!

The G1 combiners are still some of my favorite Transformers and Hangyodan has created one of the most Generation 1 accurate customs I have seen to date with his Custom Transformers G1 Bruticus Combiner figure.  The detailing and the colors of this figure really capture the classic nature of 1980′s version.  My favorite aspects of this custom are the head and chest shield.  I like the head because it is a bit more streamlined than the original.  I always thought Bruticus has a fat head and Hangyodan has solved this issue with a longer, narrower head.  The chest plate is great because it is more grand than the original.  I like the way the chest plate extends further as this aspect makes the figure look like a great warrior.  To view more photos of this awesome figure, head over to eBay and check out Hangyodan’s Custom Transformers G1 Bruticus Combiner figure.

Sabrina Ng is downsizing this week but this little guy is packed with all of the skill and love she puts into every custom.  Her THS-01 Optimus Prime Custom Transformers figure is very highly detailed and from what she said was very difficult to customize due to the size.  Let’s read more about shy she decided to make this great figure:

Kyle Robinson has outdone himself again with his Custom Marvel Legends 13″ Deadpool figure.  This is a massive and comes with a ton of cool accessories!  I am super excited about this figure as I relate it to the Masterpiece line of Transformers, which is a much larger version of the figure with more detail and extras!  Kyle has placed a ton of photos in his listing so head over to eBay and check out his Custom Marvel Legends 13″ Deadpool figure.

Seeing this custom has brought back some great memories!  Ninja Gaiden was one of those staples of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) back in the days of 8 bit gaming goodness.  Kyle Robinson has brought to life, in 6″ scale, a legend in the platform gaming arena with his Custom Marvel Legends Ryu Hayabusa figure.  The costume design on this figure is simple and well executed.  The soft goods as a great touch to the figure, giving it depth and the ability to give the figure slightly different looks.  My favorite aspect of this custom are the eyes, which gives the figure personality and the look a ninja who is ready to set out on a journey.  Kyle is one of the best customizers out there so if you want to own a peice from a legend, head over to eBay and check out his Custom Marvel Legends Ryu Hayabusa figure.

Sabrina Ng has a double agent up this week with her Custom Henkei Transformers Punch Counterpunch figure.  This highly updated version retains the classic yellow and blue color scheme but with a more intense focus on deeper, rich colors.  What I love about Sabrina’s customs is that you just don’t get a straight repaint but you get her interpretation of the classic style, which is more artistic and one of a kind.  As of now, she also has a special bonus item that comes with this figure so head over to eBay and see what it is…

Darkcave Customs has outdone himself with his Custom Transformers ‘The Fallen’ Optimus Prime figure.  This heavily modified Cybertron Leader Class Optimus Prime figure boasts many awesome features, which are outlined below:

• 2 Magma Swords (Mount to either turret or arm cannons)
• I Hell Tank Turret (mounts under arm/ top/rear trailer)
• 2 Flame Cannons (mount underneath the forearm or Tank treads)
• 5 points of Magnetic Connection for weapons configurations galore!

This is one of the grittiest Optimus Prime customs I have ever seen and this figure looks like he was resurrected from the depths of hell.  The fire accents that engulf the figure appear to be glowing, which is a very cool effect.  The way that they are placed on the figure also made Prime look like the fire was flowing through his joints and gears.  Darkcave has many photos over at his auction page so head over to eBay and check out his Custom Transformers ‘The Fallen’ Optimus Prime figure.

Jin Saotome is beefing up the Halo army with his Custom Halo Recon Spartan figure.  Halo was a game that made me buy an XBOX so it is great to see Jin paying homage to this great game in this way.  Here is more about this figure:

There is nothing mini about this minibot!  Shinobitron has brought back to life a G1 classic with his Custom Transformers Gears figure.   He has made a Deluxe figure that stands 6″ tall and this figure really captures the classic nature of Gears with an updated look.  Still donning the classic red and blue paint scheme, this figure looks great and will fit in very nicely with your other G1 or customs Transformers.  To see a photo of Gears posing with Spiderman, head over to eBay and check out Shinobitron’s Custom Transformers Gears figure.

Frenzy.Rumble has a one of a kind creation up this week with his Custom Transformers Autobot X figure.  He also refers to this figure as Autobot Spike but nonetheless, it is an amazing piece that shows off his talent and creativity.  To give us the run down of the features of this awesome figure, here is Frenzy.Rumble:

- Roughly 50 points of articulation and/or moving parts!
- Head’s  scratch built, using a Sigma 6 Joe face, refined and “chiseled” then building the rest around it with clay and styrene.
- Eyes light up thanks to a small LED inside his head. Also harnessed in his head is the battery pack and switch on back. The batteries are easily accessible and replaceable.
- Head sits on a ball joint.
- Porsche shoulder on his right is cut and reshaped from a die cast model.
- On his back are opening rocket packs. They swing open and the rocket/engine slides down and out.
- In his chest is a sound chips, triggered by a small button on his back. The sound chip plays the ”transformation noise.”
- His upper right arm has a small door which opens to reveal gears inside.
- His lower right arm has a small door also, which reveals a canon (shown later)
- Right Hand is from MP Prime (man that hurt cutting him up for this, but the size was perfect)
- Left upper arm “post thing” up top near his shoulder is on a hinge, allowing that arm to extend to any position (if it remained sticking straight up, it would collide with the shoulder)
- Door on back right is from a second die cast model car, the mirror is real glass (what?)
- Lower left arm has red laser light inside it, pressing the front of this forearm illuminated the canon’s recessed areas, canon tip, and 2 small holes on the sides of the forearms.
- Right leg bottom has scratch-built working hydraulic.
- He’s over 11″ tall

Sabrina Ng, with her latest in her Henkei series, puts a new look on a on friend with her Custom Transformers Henkei Nemesis Prime figure.  Sometimes, it is the little things that mean a lot, especially when it comes to Sabrina’s customs as her figures are packed full of the smallest of detail.  I love the purple accents on this figure.  They are in the right places, along with the Decepticon symbols flanking the shoulders of Nemesis Prime.  Color is very important on figures and Sabrina has decided to share a tip with everyone:

“What you see on him is not black but a special mixture of gloss grey, patiently layered until this specific colour was derived. Why not black you ask? Well, black is firstly a very common colour and that it tends to be overly harsh on a vehicle. Unless absolutely necessary, I try to stay clear of black.”

TimShinn has an awesome Custom Transformers Movie Barricade figure up this week.  The aim of this work of art was to get close to the movie version and pick up the slack where Hasbro left off.  The hands are one of my favorite parts of this figure as they really capture the feel of the movie.  Imagine getting chased by this figure!  Here is TimShinn to tell you what went into this figure:

“Built over several months using a 1:25 scale Revell 2006 Mustang GT model kit and modified Bionicle parts for the skeleton into this articulated representation of the Barricade character from the 2007 Transformers movie. The model kit was cut up into over 200 pieces, cleaned, sanded and painted. The hands and head are mostly scratch built from sheet styrene and other found objects (Gundam bits, etc). 15 points of articulation. Stands at just under 9 inches tall. Hand painted and detailed. High quality custom decals were created by Reprolabels for this custom figure to duplicate the look of the movie character. 2 panels on the chest are removeable for access to the power switch and batteries for the working police lights.”

Cad Bane made his appearance in the Clone Wars animated series and boy was he a force to reckon with.  Ruthless and fearless, jackoftradze has brought him to life with his Custom Clone Wars Cad Bane figure.  This figure really captures the look of Cad Bane and I love the accessories and guns that were made for the figure.  The hat and soft goods really complete the figure and he chose a great shade of blue for the face and hands.  To view more photos and to place a bid on jackoftradze’s Custom Clone Wars Cad Bane figure, head over to eBay!

I love Sabrina’s Henkei series.  She is the first Transformers customizer I know to do a line like this and I know she will make some lucky collector very happy with her latest edition in this Custom Henkei Transformers Mirage figure.  Sabrina has really outdone herself and has captured the essence of the G1 figure while still retaining her own style and feel.  I love the way she takes liberties with the colors and tries not to do an exact match but she comes close, which makes her customs very sought after and popular.  If you want to see more photos, head over to eBay and check out Sabrina Ng’s Custom Henkei Transformers Mirage figure.

Sam has revived an 80′s classic with his Custom Transformers G1 Jazz figure.  There are so many awesome features to this custom let’s get it right from source:

• Customised front end to closer resemble Porsche 935 Turbo  that jazz is based on. Used wire grill, recessed the lights, completly reshaped the front
• Custom built styrene rear spoiler! Large and flared, this is a lot closer than using the original spoiler that looks nothing like jazz’s.
• Real Rubber tyres ! these rims were fitted so it could still roll, but have the real feel of rubber like the G1 type vehicles!
• Built up and flared rear tyre guards to closer resemble the 935′s large back, and also to fit the wider tyres !
• Scratch built head on a ball joint for full posablity, this head closely resembles the G1 Jazz and still fully transforms!
• Custom Decals I made myself on my computer then applied, clearcoating in futures to help protect them! These took many hours to make from scratch! Logos such as ‘Martini’ and ‘Porsche’ applied in all the relevant areas.
• Painted in Fusion white for durability. Citadels and clear coats were also used to help make it as durable as I could.
• Recast weapons such as his famous shoulder-mounted Flame thrower! His rifle is also replicated, and theres more…
• Custom made speakers that attach in car mode for his ‘light and sound’ attack!
• Working grappling hook that fits into his hand in bot mode!
• Scratch built feet to closer resemble his G1 toy!
• Metal ringlets to represent bonnet latches!
• Scribed detail in bonnet to closer resemble G1 toy and actual Porsche!

From the episode, Rising Malevolence, Ironhide44 has created this Custom Clone Wars Boost figure, another awesome clone to add to your collection.  Using his artistic skill, he has crafted deco in such a way that captures the look and feel of the character in the series.  Let’s hear more about how he made this great clone:

“I used a clean armor Captain Rex for a starting point. I used the arms, lower legs, and utility belt from a Space Trooper clone. Boost’s head is custom molded with his Commander Gree hair style. The helmet is a custom molded “shell” of the newer 212th orange clone. The graphics on the helmet are done by hand. Painted as close as possible to the animated Boost using high quality acrylic paints. Sealed with clear flat acrylic. His armor is of the dirty variety. I drilled out the end of his blaster for a more realistic look.”

It is really great to see teamwork and I could not ask for two better people to put their skills to the test and collaborate to form one of the greatest customs I have seen.  Frenzy.Rumble and Sabrina Ng bring you their Custom Transformers Devastator G1 Combiner figure, which displays talents from both Frenzy.Rumble and Sabrina Ng.  Frenzy Rumble, with his sculpting and keen eye for design, combined with Sabrina Ng’s bullet proof paint aps, have created one of the most sought after customs I have seen in a long time.  I am struck by the attention to detail in the design of this Devastator and it looks like no aspect was left untouched.  Let’s read more about how this collaboration got started from Frenzy.Rumble:

Who can turn a mediocre Animated Transformers into a killer looking SWAT vehicle?  Jin Saotome can with his Custom Transformers Animated Payload figure made from Bulkhead.  Jin has totally changed the look of Bulkhead and made him into a Decepticon.  What a great addition to your Transformers Animated collection.

“If you remember the Transformers movie version of Payload, he was an armored truck that I turned into a SWAT vehicle before. Well here’s an Animated Payload based on that theme, an armored police vehicle of sorts. He has a great paint job that has all sorts of battle worn shading, highlights, and metallic effects so he’ll fit right in to your Transformers collection. Check out those claws, they’re articulated and can be used to pick up his Autobot enemies! You can transform him into his alt mode that resembles an armored police vehicle compete with custom decals and effects.”

What a way to kick off AFC’s 600th article!   I have waited for this day ever since the announcement of Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen.  New movie, new toys, and awesome works of art like Butler’s Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen Megatron figure.  I can’t wait to see the movie but until then I will ogle the amazing customs.  Seeing prototypes and photos of the original TF2 Megatron, I was most unhappy with the paint scheme but I then remembered that customizers will soon get their hands on them so that made me smile.  The paint aps on this Tf2 Megatron are very well done, smooth, and the highlights are in the right places.  Butler has made this figure 1000% better!  To view more photos, head over to eBay and place a bid on Butler’s Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen Megatron figure.

Ironhide44 keeps the clones coming with his latest Custom Clone Wars Animated Sergeant Sinker figure.  This has to be one of my favorite figures from Ironhide 44 to date because of the detail on this one.  The shoulder and helmet deco are very nicely done.  Here is some more detail on how this custom was made from the source:

Shinobitron possesses the great skill of taking great looking Animated Transformers figures and turning them into cool crossovers with his Custom Transformers Blur Batman Beyond figure.  Blur is a great choice of figures for this crossover.  The head is sculpted to look like the Batman Beyond counterpart but the coolest aspect of this figure is that it transforms into the Batmobile but you will have to head over to eBay to view that shot!

I just came across another excellent Clone Wars custom.  This time, mdrhody brings us his Custom Clone Wars Sergeant Denal from the ‘Duel of the Droids’ episode.  This figure is another excellent example of customizers taking charge and giving fans what they want…more clones!!!  For those not familiar with Denal, here is some info I found on him from Wookieepedia:

“Denal was one of the most experienced clone troopers in the elite 501st Legion, having survived many Clone Wars campaigns alongside Captain Rex and Jedi General Anakin Skywalker. At the start of the war, Denal saw action on Rodia, Tatooine and Orto Plutonia, conducting many missions on those planets. He rescued a battalion of clone troopers from a Separatist ambush, recovered a lost Republic cargo, and helped a Jedi in distress defeat a force of battle droids. On one occasion, he even saved General Skywalker’s Padawan Ahsoka Tano from a Separatist prison on Tatooine. Denal was also involved in the discovery and destruction of a new Confederacy superweapon—one that could prevent Republic radar from detecting enemy armies.  Later in the war, Denal accompanied Rex, Skywalker, and Tano on a mission to destroy a Separatist listening post, which they successfully completed. Of the five-man squad of clones that was sent there along with the Jedi, only he and Rex survived the mission.”

Ironhide44 has come out with another great addition to his line of Clone Wars customs with his Custom Clone Wars Chopper figure from ‘The Hidden Enemy’ episode.  This was a great episode where Chopper was believed to be the traitor but it was actually Slick, another clone who knew of the Jedi’s secret plans.  This figure is a great representation of Chopper as he appeared in the series.  Let’s read more about this great figure:

I just wanted to let everyone know that a search box was finally added to the blog section that is located just under the character art.  I can’t believe it but I am approaching close to my 600th article and I am still amazed at the great work that everyone is producing.  The addition of the search box should make it easier to find your favorite customs!  Give it a try!

I can’t get enough of combiners and Xaviercal has a one of my favorites up on eBay this week.  His Custom Transformers G1 Menasor figure is very well done and ranks very high in my mind with one of the best I have seen.  The design is very simple and I like that he did not go overboard with trying to make this custom have too many bells and whistles.  I like the fact that he used the windows on Motormaster as it keeps the figure from being bulky.  The colors on the figure are reminiscent of the G1 classic so head over to eBay and check out more photos of Xaviercal’s Custom Transformers G1 Menasor figure.

There is so much detail in Sabrina Ng’s Custom Masterpiece Grimlock figure.  This is one of my favorite customs she has done to date.  The colors really pop on this figure and if you look at the image below, you can see all of the intricate detail she puts into each and every figure:

“One two, Freddy’s coming for you…”  NTT has captured one of the silver screen’s most horrific icons with his Custom Marvel Legends Freddy Krueger figure.  I remember watching a Nightmare on Elm Street and being thoroughly scared.  This figure has so much gorey detail and effects and truly looks like the murderous villain with the blades for fingers.  My favorite part of this custom is revealed under the classic green and red shirt:

Straight from the sewers and hazardous waste plant comes Ratfink’s Custom GI Joe 25th Anniversary Bio Viper figure.  This is an excellent use of the Cobra Air Trooper mould, which I was not a fan of Ratfink’s figure is one that I would purchase if I saw it on the shelf.  The helmet makes it look like he could go to the depths of the earth to root out GI Joe in the worst of conditions.  The stand is also custom made, which makes a great display piece.  To beef up your Cobra Army, head over to eBay and bid on Ratfink’s Custom GI Joe 25th Anniversary Bio Viper figure.

Hot on the heels of his magnificant Custom Generation 1 Devastator, Defstar brings us his Custom Generation 2 Devastator figure.  The Generation 2 Devastor, in the 90′s, came out as a yellow and an organge version of green gestalt combiner that came out in 1985.  The yellow version was released in Europe and the orange was only available at KB Toys.  Defstar did a tremendous job blending both styles of the G2 constructicons and the G1 figures with his blend of orange, green, and yellow paint aps that capture the feel of the G2 line while paying homage to the G1 figures.

Not happy with how the Transformers Movie figures turned out, timandashley2005 have redesigned and custom created this Transformers Movie Blackout figure to be accurate.  Although this Transformer is not transformable, he felt that the need to go above and beyond to create this great looking figure and the best part is that 10% of the proceeds from this auction go to help the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.  I think it is great that customizers deviate from the norm and make tradeoffs for the best of the custom and the fans.  Let’s read more about this great custom:

One aspect of the Star Wars universe is that we got to see the evolution in armor from the Clone Wars to Revenge of the Sith and daveSstation Creations has a great looking Custom Clone Wars Animated Shock Trooper to feast your eyes on this week.  Yesterday, I wrote an article about his Custom Order 66 AT TE so this figure would be a perfect addition to your collection if you were to bid on that or just add another great figure to your collection.  The markings on the Shock Trooper are well done and the color is perfect to fit in with the ROTS Troopers.  daveSstation Creations has really filled a void in the Animated Clone Wars line so head over to eBay and place a bid on his Custom Clone Wars Animated Shock Trooper figure.

When I first saw the Cybertron Leader Class Optimus Prime figure, I never imagined that this figure could be turned into something this spectacular.  DarkCave Customs has really outdone himself with his Custom Transformers Galvatron Prime with Roller.  This figure pays homage to the G1 colors of the original Galvatron but he takes this figure to another level with the massage body armor and guns.  This figure also was made with some special features, which you can read about below:

daveSstation Creations is back with another awesome AT TE with his Custom Order 66 Mustafar AT TE.  He already has a Kashyyk and a Snow version and this is my favorite one to date!  First, the Shock Troopers are my favorite of the clones that I was introduced to in Revenge of the Sith and what a way to honor them by giving them a custom ride.  The colors are perfect for this AT TE as this would blend in with the terrain of the lava planet.  No detail was spared in this AT TE!  I love the Mandalorian logos all over the vehicle he chose the perfect shade of red for this one.  Rounding out this awesome custom is an Animated Clone Wars figure decked out in Shock Trooper detail:

I love Sabrina Ng’s Henkei series as she is the only customizer out there doing them consistently, which will make these very sought after.  She is winding down her Henkei series and she has a great one this week with her Custom Henkei Grimlock figure.  She possesses the skill to blend and apply paint like I have never seen and the golds and the silvers really work well together and they are in the right places.  Let’s hear more about this great figure:

Not only is he not a vehicle, he was always depicted as a dull coloured grey in the G1 line. Grimlock was painted a shade of glossy grey by mixing highly diluted black with super clear gloss. Ironhide44 is back with another excellent Star Wars figure with his Custom Commander Stone Clone Wars figure.  I am surprised by the lack of clones produced to date for the Clone Wars animated series given that the series is focusing on CLONES!  We don’t need more R2-D2′s or C3PO’s, we need more Clones and lucky for us that there are talented customizers like Ironhide44 to answer the call.  Let’s read more about this great figure:

Xaviercal has taken Rollbar, an Alternator, and turned him into a Generation 1 classic that is the minibot Beachcomber that we all know and love.  I love the direction he took with his Custom Transformers Beachcomber as he did an excellent job with the modifications.  For example, he added larger buggy tires and a different front grill.  The G1 Beachcomber blue seals the classic nature of the figure and rounds out another great custom from Xaviercal.  If you are into the Alternators line, head over to eBay and check out this awesome Custom Transformers Beachcomber figure.

Defstar is at it once again with his Custom Transformers G1 Devastator figure.  Going for a more Generation 1 feel, he has really captured the feel of the figure from the 1980′s.  With the cartoon head, it reminds me of the Devastator we grew to know and love.  Let’s hear more about this great figure from Defstar himself:

“Hello everyone…I return with yet another take on the great Transformer combiner Devastator (as some may remember my Universe Devastator from a little while back)…this time around I’m aiming to get even closer to the original look of the G1 version.  First I would like to mention the help I got from fellow TFW2005 member Ptitvite…I opted to use one of his Devastator head molds for this project…he’s very skilled at what he does and turns out quality work.  Devastator stands approx 14” tall and 9” wide…he is painted with a combination of quality sprays and acrylics and then coated with a very durable sealer…he has full rotation of his head and both shoulders…be bends 90 degrees at the elbows and knees…his fingers move as do his legs at the hip…waist has about 15 degrees movement in both directions.”

AFC: Tell the fans of your work a little about yourself.

Quantum-7 Customs: First I just want to say thank you Michael for the questions and you really do a great thing here at this site. Thank YOU Action Figure Customs. My name is JB Goodenbuy and I go by the customizing name of QUANTUM 7 customs. I sell the majority of my work on Ebay, with the slight and occasional commission work for very close friends. I currently live in South Carolina and I am originally from Orlando/Daytona Beach Florida area.

AFC: When did you start making customs?

Quantum-7 Customs: I got started on making customs over 15 years ago or so. It started out with just simple repaints of 3 3/4 inch Star Wars figures. Then moved up to mix and match parts to create new characters or ones the big companies hadn’t made yet. Then evolved over the last several years to include sculpted details and parts and larger figures. It has just really evolved from the humble beginnings.

AFC: How did you get started making customs?

Quantum-7 Customs: I’m not really sure exactly what started it other than my quirk in seeing things that could be done differently or better. I have always had a knack for art type things. Drawing, painting, sculpting. I just have a need to make things.

AFC: How many customs do you work on at one time?

Quantum-7 Customs: There could be up to 6 different projects on my desk at any given time in various stages of completion. I have a terrible disease that before I complete one or two I have already begun another batch in the wings. I guess it would be my lack of attention. I just get ideas and I’ll get the new one going while still having 5 others waiting to be finished… this is part of the reason I don’t do commission work.

AFC: What customs you are most proud of?

Quantum-7 Customs: Oh wow, tough question. Like most artists I feel that each piece is important to me. They are almost like children. You think about having them, then you make them, then you try to prepare them to function in the world and then you let them go. Pride comes from each one I do. Each one gets alittle better than the last, because you learn new things on each project. Some of the ones I am very happy with are ATLAS from the Thunderbolts, ARSENAL from Teen Titans, RED HULK , FIN FANG FOOM repaint and most recently, DARK-CLAW. I just had put alittle more effort and time into these particular ones so I would say they are my favorites.

AFC: What is your favorite toy line to do customs for?

Quantum-7 Customs: I enjoy doing customs in all the major lines but I think the larger 6 inch scale are a little easier. When sculpting on large figures you can get more detail in the sculpt.

AFC: What customs do you have lined up for future projects?

Quantum-7 Customs: LOL…Well, currently I have about 6 lined up in various stages of completion. Some on the “chopping block” are a classic version of Marvel’s Thunderbird, Thunderbolt’s Scourge , an Ultimate version of Aquaman, Ultimate Red Skull in battle armor and a TOP SECRET project that will be revealed on Ebay in about 2 months!!!!!

AFC: If you had one piece of advice for other customizers out there, what would you say to them?

Quantum-7 Customs: Stay true to yourself. Create what makes YOU feel happy. Don’t try to make customs of what you think others want to see and most importantly, always let your first coat of paint dry before applying a second ; ^)

As Mel Brooks said in the movie, The History of the World Part 1, “it is good to the King!” and for a Captain in the Clone Wars, this equates to getting your own rig modeled after your body armor.  I was excited when I first got my hands on the AT TE and daveSstation Creation has taken it to the next level with his Custom Clone Wars Captain Rex AT TE snow vehicle.  I am very impressed with the attention to detail and the craftsmanship that he put into this AT TE.  First of all, I am a huge military historian and I am very please to see the “decals including some skulls along cab representing missions and a couple others custom decals on rear panels straight…representing assault and heavy artillery.”  The old style deco of the tanks from the armored divisions and the planes from the navy made sure to decorate their vehicles and planes with their respective core markings and this AT TE, in my opinion, is a great homage to that era.

The paint aps looks flawless and I am sure this baby looks amazing in person.  It is great to see such creativity grace the AT TE and daveSstation Creation has done a stellar job imagining the world where this behemoth of a vehicle fits into the Clone Wars universe.  To view more photos and to place a bid on this bad boy, head over to eBay and check out his Custom Clone Wars Captain Rex AT TE snow vehicle.

Back in the 80′s, Astrotrain was an interesting concept is was one of the first triple changing Transformers.  Sabring Ng, continuing her Henkei series, brings this awesome version of this triple changer to life with her Custom Henkei Astrotrain.  I love the way the figure mould turned out but the colors were very wrong on the original figure, which Sabrina has solved with her stellar paint ap and color choice.  I have not thought about this before but painting this figure must be like painting a car.  Take a look at what Sabrina has to say about how she pulled off the striping of this figure:

“Astrotrain’s a tricky fella being the first triple changer that I’ve worked with. His white stripes was painstakingly taped and airbrushed on. His glossy grey was achieved through a very light shade of highly diluted black.”

Michael Amore has a fully loaded Custom Marvel Legends Stealth Iron Man for your viewing pleasure.  Not only does this Iron Man have a stellar paint ap, but it is chock-a-block full of custom details and weapons!  I am not sure if everyone reading this knows where the phrase ‘the whole nine yards’ comes from but back in World War 2 it referred to using up an entire aircraft machine-gun ammunition belt, which was nine yards (27 feet) in length.  I would classify this Iron Man as going the whole nine because if you can see the photo above, it looks like this Iron Man is packing heat with a gun that can do some serious damage.  This is one of the most detailed Iron Man’s I have come across in a long time so head over to eBay and check out Michael Amore’s Custom Marvel Legends Stealth Iron Man figure!

It is great to see characters from the past come to life by talented customizers.  Leave it to Quantum-7 customs to create a figure that you will never see in stores with his Custom Marvel Legends Dark Claw figure.  Trying to be as comic accurate as possible, Quantum-7 did an excellent job combining both the DC and Marvel universe.  The sculpting on this figure really completes the look from the comic.  The mask is symmetrical to the face and in scale with the rest of the figure.  Another great addition to the figure is the custom building top base but you will have to head over to eBay to view it!

K&L Customs does it again with a magnificent display of their skill with their Custom Marvel Legends Boomer (Boom Boom) figure.  I love costume design on this one.  The shoulder pads and the amo belt add great character to the figure and the colors compliment each other nicely.  One of my favorite parts of the custom is the head sculpt.  The eyes are done in a way that give the figure personality.  K&L are one of my favorite Marvel Legends customizers so head over to eBay and check out their Custom Marvel Legends Boomer (Boom Boom) figure.

Continuing her Henkei custom line, Sabrina Ng puts paint to plastic with one of my favorites from the G1 era with her Custom Transformers Henkei Sunstreaker figure.  I have to hand it to her because every custom she does comes out so flawless.  In vehicle mode, the paint job is so smooth and glossy, it is hard to believe that this is a toy as the photo looks like it belongs in a showroom.  Not only does she have the skill to paint flawlessly but she also can mod the figure to put that finishing touch on it.  For example, she swapped out the fists for some better looking ones.  To view more photos, head over to eBay!
