Customizers have many unique skills and one of them is the ability to look at figures that large toy companies are producing and repurpose them into amazing looking figures. Take EniamRej's Custom Star Wars Darth Malgus figure, for example. He took a Marvel Legends Electro figure and was able to create a killer Star Wars figure that would rival anything that the major toy companies are putting out right now. First, the sculpting of the armor on the chest plate and other parts of the suit are superb, especially for a 6" scale Star Wars figure. Historically, Star Wars figures are produced in 3.75" scale but they are now starting to make larger figures with their Black Series. In addition, this figure has a variety of accessories as well as an additional head, which changes up the look of the figure. The eyes on the figure on both head sculpts are captivating and engaging. EniamRej's Custom Star Wars Darth Malgus figure is available for Buy it Now on eBay so make sure to snatch it up while you still can!
I love it when customizers take pride in their work and love what they do, which is why Chonosmoon's Custom Transformers Henkei Classic Icestorm figure is a cut above the rest. The frost white and blues gives me the chills just writing this as the colors are well executed and play off of each other nicely. As Chonosmoon describes on his website, "This custom I worked on in between working on Sunstorm and Impactor. Icestorm is based off fellow customizer & friend FrenzyRumble’s Masterpiece Icestorm. Using the inspiration I create this Icestorm to match my previous Sunstorm’s detailing and style."
In addition to learning how these amazing customs come to life, I am also interested in learning about the customizers. For example, as I was on his site, I learned that he is a war veteran and with Memorial Day approaching, I just wanted to personally thank Chonosmoon for his service to this great country. Here is more about the artist in his own words:
"I am an US Army combat veteran who finds his escape by creating some of art you see here. Chonosmoon is my chosen handle for web design and customizing Transformers figures. I started customizing in 2010 and have always enjoyed Transformers since I was little kid in the 80s. I hope that my creations can share that same joy, if not better than what I had growing up on them."

With the next installment of the Transformers movie coming out in June, Billmeister Customs is getting a head start designing his version of the classic Dinobot with his Custom Transformers Age of Extinction Grimlock figure. Mixing the old with the new, this custom blends the classic G1 colors of red and yellow with the harsh metallic look of the new generation Transformers style. The entire figure has been stripped down and repainted, enhancing the contrast in the various parts of Grimlock's body. I love the yellow accents when the figure is in T-Rex mode as well as the subtle colors in robot mode. I am looking forward to seeing more Transformers Age of Extinction figure in the coming months and if Billmeister's Custom Grimlock in any indication of the quality of these figures, I can't wait!
Thank goodness for customizer's like MikeMarvel as he has taken it upon himself to create this Custom Marvel Legends White Phoenix figure that Hasbro has since cancelled. Mike Marvel expresses his disappointment and opportunity nicely on FigureRealm:
"I think we were all pretty disappointed when Hasbro (yet again) cancelled all the variants this time in the Wolverine Marvel Legends line including the White Phoenix version of Jean Grey. I used a cast Jean Grey head and sanded it down and sculpted part of the hair. Hope base with hands from the fodder bin. She-Hulk lower legs. Wrapped up in a white primer and painted."
As you can see, the prototype is pictured below (courtesy of forums.marvelheroes.com). I actually love MikeMarvel's version as the gold coloring he used on the arms and legs is more muted and looks more timeless. Also, I love the way he outlined the phoenix on her chest. In addition, the way he sculpted and colored the hair is amazing as it looks very lifelike and flowing. The facial expression looks like she means business. The best part is that this figure is available for Buy it Now on eBay so head over there and snatch this one up before someone else does.
Heavily armed and modified, Xaviercal has brings us his Custom Transformers Titan Class Metroplex that is like nothing I have seen before. Fitted with LED's and a G1 color scheme, this figure boasts new articulation, armor, and weapons. Typically, the Metroplex figures I see are done in white but Xaviercal has painted this one in predominantly gray motif with a ton of accent colors, highlighting the intricate detail Metroplex has. The scoring and battle damage with the paint effects are very well executed and you can get a good example of this by looking at the right chest plate with the Autobot symbol. The figure looks equally impressive in city mode and he even added a scale model of Bruticus to make the figure look larger than life.
