Xaviercal, using the Generations Metroplex, created this Custom Generation 1 Metrotitan Decepticon figure. This figure is right up my ally! I am not sure if you know but I took up Astrophotography as a hobby and this figure reminded me of that. Constructed on Saturn's moon Titan, Metrotitan is a massive Decepticon warrior, commanded by the villainous Violen Jygar to destroy the Autobots. The paint app really pops on this figure, bringing out all of the detail. The metallic look to the figure gives it a very polished look. The small details really make this figure come together. For example, the choice to place gray on the knuckles or adding red accents on the knees give this figure depth and dimension and make it very interesting. To view more photos or to place a bid on this great figure, head over to eBay to check out Xaviercal's Custom Generation 1 Metrotitan Decepticon figure.
Coming straight from the comics is Paint Customs' Doc Ock Custom Marvel Legends Scale figure. When I first took a look at this figure, I thought it had a ton of character. The way the face was painted and sculpted gives the figure a diabolical look and feel to him. The face is a cross between someone you meet in real life and the comic, which was well executed. You can even imagine what the eyes look like under the glasses. Other cool modifications include fully articulated grasping claws, which are totally cool! The claws are integrated so well into the back of the figure that they seamless come out to give the figure its classic look. The tentacles also have a unique style to them and I love that they are painted silver and green.
Custom Masterpiece Soundwave, Buzzsaw, Frenzy, Rumble, Laserbeak and Ravage Transformers Figures by Frenzy.Rumble
Up for only 3 days is Frenzy.Rumble's Custom Masterpiece Soundwave, Buzzsaw, Frenzy, Rumble, Laserbeak and Ravage Transformers figures (boy that was mouthful). Adding and LED to Soundwave's visor gives the Decepticon communicator a very unique look and adds to the persona that only the 1980's cartoon could match. Painted in the G1 color scheme, the deep blue body is a great match to the original figure, which plays nicely off of the silver, yellow, and red colors. Soundwave would not be complete without his spies so he included Buzzsaw, Frenzy, Rumble, Laserbeak and Ravage, which are fully customized as well. There is no better custom Transformer figure than Frenzy.Rumble so head over to eBay and check out his Custom Masterpiece Soundwave, Buzzsaw, Frenzy, Rumble, Laserbeak and Ravage Transformers Ffigures before they are gone!
The stock paint jobs that come with the figures off the shelf have always been a disappointment and it is customers like Billmeister who save these figures corporate doom! Take his Custom Transformers Beast Hunters Ultra Magnus figure, for example. He turned a lack luster paint app into a stunning display of deep blue and red metallics that literally make this figure shine. When figures are painted like this, the facial features, as well as the fine details really come through much better. The siler metallic parts really look like steel and I love the way the weapon was painted to add an effect of some kind of energy rushing through it as Ultra Magnus wields his mighty hammer! The figure looks equally impressive in alternate mode where most of the body of the truck comes through as a deep blue with a crimson red top for the cab. Fantastic work!
One of the pivotal scenes in the original Transformers movie from the 1980's is when Megatron is reformed into Galvatron and Boskoes Toys has captured this moment with this Custom Transformers Reformed Megatron figure. Megatron really took a beating in the movie and the battle damage and the transformation is captured very nicely in this homage to the leader of the Decepticons. The gashes and the carbon scoring on the figure give it a multidimensional effect and combined with the translucent purple on various parts of the figure make it look like he is caught in the middle of the transformation.
There have been some excellent Fall of Cybertron customs lately and Xaviercal's Custom Fall of Cybertron Bruticus is no exception. Making this figure to look like the appearance in the video game, the Combaticons have an cool angular appearance and the colors are really vibrant and pop. My two favorite parts of this customs are the hands, which look very articulated, and the chest plate as the way it was painted makes it look like steel. In fact, the entire paint job looks amazing and Xaviercal's talent in this department is second to none.
AC Custom Figures creates a killer version of the Dark Knight with his Custom New 52 Zero Years Batman figure. This figure looks like the comic and AC did a fantastic job making this figure his own. He has a really funny story to go along with it so let's hear from AC himself:
"There are 2 things I love in this world: Batman and Mad Max. When I first saw the panel of Batman dressed in a sort of post apocalyptic Mad Max get up in issue #21 I almost pooped. Bad A. So here is my go at it. This Batman has more straps, buckles and pouches than he knows what to do with. I wanted him to be as accurate to the comic as I could, which was tough considering he has only appeared like this in one panel. He comes with a custom made bike and cross bow. And check out the customs sculpted back pack! This Batman is all set for his bone breaking new origin!"

Sacrificing transform-ability for a killer look and style is Kishimoto's Custom Fall of Cybertron Metroplex figure. This Metroplex is thick and as Sir Mix A Lot says, "I want 'em real thick and juicy.!" All jokes and quotes aside, I love the styling of this figure. The way the legs were designed harkens back to the G1 Autobot city from the 80's with a modern look and feel. The figure stands a towering 18" tall and is an astounding 12" wide. Now that is big and it definitely fits with the persona of Metroplex. As Kishimoto says, "The figure is made from a shell from an existing figure with the use of both corrugated cardboard and carton cardboard. Only a few parts were made from scultpy and plastic. It is very stout and pretty solid in most areas but none the less has to be treated as a collectible piece and not a toy." This figure embodies all of the aspects that made Metroplex great so check out more photos of Kishimoto's Custom Fall of Cybertron Metroplex figure over on eBay!
Some things come full circle in the cycle of customs. Some sales are brokered through eBay and some don't even see the light of day on eBay as some customs are commissioned directly from fan to customizer, which brings me to Encline Design's Custom Masterpiece Shockwave figure. I am not sure if this was a direct comission or not but, lucky for you, the owner of this fine custom is listing it and it is up for grabs! Painted to look like the IDW comic version, Encline displays his talent and passion in this figure. Check out the comparison in size with the Masterpiece Starscream figure and you will see just how large this one this.
Frenzy.Rumble's customs, as well as the other creations from the talent out there, was one of the reasons I started this website and week after week I have not been let down. I must say, I have never seen anything like this before, especially in this scale. Frenzy.Rumble has taken the Worlds Smallest Transformers line and made them larger than life with his Extinction Custom WST Combiner. The concept is original to the customizer and I thought I was looking at his larger scale version, which he has made before. Upon closer inspection, this combiner stands 7" tall and is a highly detailed scaled down version using the Worlds Smallest Transformers line of figures. I can't believe how much detail he packed into these small figures but the execution is flawless. If you did not know the scale, looking at the photos, you would think this figure stands 2 feet tall. Going above and beyond, he has added more articulation to these tiny figures, which I can't believe he has done because I have owned some of these WST figures and you don't have a lot of room for error. My favorite aspect of Frenzy.Rumble's Custom WST Extinction Combiner is the T-Rex popping out of the center of the chest. It is a bit Alien'esque but it gives a cool dimension to the figure.
Wilestbilame takes the MP-13 Decepticon communicator and turns him from the dark side to create this unique Custom Masterpiece Shattered Glass Soundwave figure. Making a dramatic statement with an ehobby'esque color scheme, this figure looks amazing in MP form and is a nice change to see Soundwave and his partner in crime, Laserbeak, in this way. To hear more about this figure from Wilestbilame himself, take a read below:
"Shattered Glass is the name given to the parallel universe to the Transformers Generation 1 continuity where the heroic Decepticons battle the evil autobots to save cybertron, one such heroic decepticon whose white and blue deco really stands out is none other than everyone's favorite cassete player! Soundwave along with his most trusted partner laserbeak presents a new dynamic take on the legendary decepticon intelligence agent, being a martial arts expert in this universe, soundwave retains his signature loyalty to Megatron to ensure the safety of cybertron and his decepticon comrades from the evil forces of the autobots at all costs!! so taking this fantastic concept in mind, I took the widely popular masterpiece Soundwave MP-13 figure and his cassete laserbeak to recreate their shattered glass counterparts."
I love the way the cassette door was painted, which gives a G1 cartoon feel to this killer figure. To view more photos, head over to eBay and check out this Custom Masterpiece Shattered Glass Soundwave figure.
Sculpt-bot's Custom Masterpiece Transformers Perceptor is the focus of this weeks featured post! Let's get more detail on this amazing custom in this virtual sit down with the creator of this great piece:
AFC: What is the custom you have up for sale on eBay this week?
Sculpt-bot: It is a Masterpiece Scale Perceptor Figure.
AFC: What inspired you to create this custom?
Sculpt-bot: With the design similarities between G1 Soundwave, and G1 Perceptor, I thought it was a natural transition to convert MP Soundwave into MP Perceptor.
AFC: How was this figure made?
Sculpt-bot: I scavenged a lot of parts from the original G1 Perceptor figure. Mainly the "microscope" portion, but I also used a razor saw to cut off many thin panels to add to the base figure. I extended the microscope barrel slightly to add a little size (still magnifies!) This wasn't really an issue in bot mode, but it looked a little too small in his alt mode. I also heavily modified the original G1 chest piece to upsize it to fit the MP mold. The clear portion of his chest was a challenge, as no matter what I did, I couldn't build a perfectly clear "lens" for his chest. I finally settled on a fogged crystal look, that still provided some translucency, but didn't need to be perfect. I shortened his legs slightly at the knees so that he was slightly shorter than Soundwave and Prime in bot mode. I wanted his head to be a combination of the G1 figure and cartoon design, so I built a new one up using the Soundwave head as a base. This gave his head the same articulation as the base figure. I built his G1 toy weapons out of scrap parts and some styrene. He was then painted up using custom mixed acrylics and enamels to match his trademark colors.
AFC: How many hours did it take you to create this figure?
Sculpt-bot: I probably put about 20-25 hours into him.
I have always thought the Crimson Guards deserved a more beefier armor and a more versatile uniform and Homemade Joes (aka Zartanman) has finally answered the call with this Custom Cobra Crimson Guard figure. Fitted with chest armor that is painted metallic silver, one of the uniform options for this figure already looks much better than the original from the 80's. Adding a full face helmet and a shield makes it look like these Crimson Guards are headed for a riot, which probably would have benefited them in the 80's cartoon. To check out more looks to this great figure, head over to eBay and check out Homemade Joe's Custom Cobra Crimson Guard figure.
Taking 4th place in the World's Greatest Customizers Captain America contest is Happy Day Customs' Venom Captain America Custom Marvel Legends scale figure. Venom is a Symbiote, a sentient alien, with a gooey, almost liquid-like form that requires a host, usually human, to bond with for its survival, as with real world symbiotes, and to whom it endows enhanced powers. Inspired by some concept art, this figure embodies how Venom is taking over Captain America's body during a really cool transitional phase. I love the way Captain America's head is peaking through Venom's mouth and how the chest transitions almost completing the metamorphoses. To check out more up close and personal images, head over and check out this one of a kind Venom Captain America Custom Marvel Legends scale figure.
Customs by Z really knows how to punch up a figure taken straight off the shelf and take it to the next level and his Custom Transformers Beast Hunters Optimus Prime demonstrates the years of experience he has poured into every custom figure he makes. If you take a look at the figure Hasbro has produced, you will first notice the head sculpt is a little different and resembles the Transformers Prime look but Customs by Z has changed this up and totally redesigned the head to give it a more classic feel. Also, the angles of the face compliment the lines of the overall figure. Beefing Optimus up you will also notice a killer Gatling gun that is mounted to the top of the vehicle or clutched below his right arm. I love the way the gun was seamlessly designed to look like it was part of the figure. To view more images, check out this Custom Transformers Beast Hunters Optimus Prime figure!
The Bizarro concept is an interesting one. Introduced in the late 1960's, the Bizarro universe was an alternate reality where the "opposites" of characters lived. For example, instead of a round planet, the world was cubed and contained a freakish looking Superman called Bizarro. AC Custom Figures, in his "What if..." concept line introduces a new character to the new Superman movie with his Custom Man of Steel Bizarro figure. As the figure appeared in comics and the Superfriends tv show in the 80's, Bizarro boasts a purple color scheme and a backwards "S" on the chest. I love the shades of purple on the figure as they give it a metallic look and the gray washed out flesh of Bizarro gives him the appeal he had from the concept art and the cartoon. To view more photos and to place a bid on AC Custom Figure's Custom Man of Steel Bizarro, head over to eBay.
Loaded with articulation and standing an impressive 12" tall, Thyvipera brings to life a Decepticon from the first animated Transformers Movie with his Custom Masterpiece Transformers Cyclonus figure. Nailing the Generation 1 purple coloring, this figure pays a nice homage to the Seeker that was created by Unicron. The classic orange is also present in the figure and is in the same places as seen in the movie (the canopy and his waist), which really completes the look. One aspect that was missing from the Transformers we used to play with as kids was articulation. This figure more than makes up for this as there are several key places where joints rotate, which makes this figure take on several different looks. Sometimes the ability to transform the figure into its alternate mode gets sacrificed when making a figure this large but not this one! This Custom Masterpiece Transformers Cyclonus figure also has the ability to change into seeker mode (with your help of course)!
